Has anyone else noticed that installing the HTC Calculator Skin stops the calculator being used in horizontal mode?
When I load the calculator, then sliding the keyboard open (to switch to horizontal), I get the following error:
Code:
Error. Cannot load the skin file:
\Windows\SpbCalc_L.gif
Same error occurs if I switch to horizontal screen mode first, then try to open the calculator app.
I assume this is caused by having certain horizontal resources missing from the skin. It's interesting though that the file is name 'Spb...'. I've never installed any Spb apps Could just be a coincidence though...
Yep...same thing happens to me...
Nikos.
I might try adding some resources manually to the Windows directory (i.e. make up a dummy SpbCalc_L.gif) and see what these images actually are. They're probably just a copy of the existing resources but with a different aspect ratio.
If I can successfully mock up all the resources required, I'll attach them here.
EDIT
----
Should have tried the search a bit harder I think our problems are already solved in this post.
Still seem to have some problems here:
1. Can't install the cab file from the above post because the original cab can't be un-installed.
2. Can't use the .png files that people have been creating at the above thread because the app is looking for a .gif
3. Can't seem to get the calculator to work correctly if I convert the png to a gif myself. The screen looks fine, and everything works... except the 7, 8 and 9 buttons

I think this is probably just a palette problem in my gif. I suspect the colours need to be exact for the button region map to work correctly.
I'll give this another try tonight with a correctly created GIF. Hopefully that'll fix this.
To anyone getting this problem, try dropping the attached file into your Windows directory.
EDIT
-----
Doh! Forum has scaled/converted this when I uploaded it. Ignore this image.
Ignore the above image, the forum seems to have converted the GIF to a different size/format. Try unzipping the attached instead.
This is a known issue. The touch is a Portrait device & originally the Calc skin didn't include the landscape file. Look for the new post with Touch calculator skin P+L.
Calculator Skin in Landscape (Horizontal) Mode
Hey, you may be having the problem you're having because the SpbCalc_L file, which the calculator uses to display in landscape (horizontal) mode, is in the wrong format. It may be that it's a .gif image. You need to convert the image to .png format. Then, once in that format, the calculator will recognize the file and you won't have the problem that you're having. I'm not sure what phone model you have, but I have the 8525 (HTC/AT&T) model. This is what I did, and it resolved the problem for me. There is a free program that you could download from www.cnet.com. It is called FastStone Image Viewer. This program will convert the file for you.
Perhaps you could help me out, too. In the process of installing a bunch of new skins for the calculator, I accidentally erased the original/standard files. I no longer have the original SpbCalc_L and SpbCalc_P files, which allow the calculator to be viewed in its orignal, factory-setting format. Do you mind e-mailing them to me? I'd appreciate it. I'd like to roll back to the original version.
Thanks, and I hope we could help each other out. Take care.

Just a short feedback for others users of a Palm Treo 750. After installing the HTC calc. skin on this device, I got the error msg that file SpbCalc_S.gif is missing in the windows dir.
I downloaded the zipped SpbCalc_L.gif from this thread and renamed it from ...L into ...S. After that the application runs but the right column with the operators is missing. Can anybody be so kind to send me the original SpbCalc_S.gif - file?

I'm looking for a program which will let me text someone using a standard mobile keypad...does anyone know if this is possible to do or even better, program which is already out there somehwre.
I have had a look via Google and on this site but not had any luck :-(
xx
I really like tengothumb. check it out. it has 6 buttons instead of 9 like a cellphone pad, but its still realllyyy fast.
I personally use touchpal pro. Find at www.cooltek.com Or try using Phonepad.
please let me note if this file is infringing anything, I extracted it from my WM5 Rom.
Anyway, hope I could help.
diigibio (diigimatrix)
To install on such devices as "Universal" just use .cab
Any other install .cab then extract all files from zip, highlight them and copy them to the devices /windows folder replacing the originals.
Thanks babe...I couldn't get either of the programs you downloaded to work but managed to get PhonePad on and it works fine - exactly what I wanted!
xx
This is a fantastic keypad!! But when i copy the folder of the language and i start IntelliPadOpt.exe the first option is missing, is not visible. Is visible only the square. Because? Is normal? The first time the option was visible, but second time the option there wasn't visible

PLAzmA's Sliding Sound Pack for TYTN II (Kaiser) and windows mobile phones with slide out keyboards
*Note: only use the NUMBERED CAB files to install if you are using a TYTN II Phone or if you have the standard HTC Sliding sound system built into your rom. If however on phones like the HTC Wizard where no sliding sound is currently present, install the SlidingSound.cab file, and then launch the program and assign the files manually. The Numbered CAB files will not work for the older phone method.
List Of WAV FILES USED:
0 : Wind Chimes
1 : Piano
2 : Xylophone
3 : Futurama Bender
4 : Might Boosh
5 : Startrek TOS
6 : Dalek
7 : Cash Register
8 : Electricity
9 : Electric Motor
10: Hal 2001
11: POP
METHOD 1: TO INSTALL NEW HTC PHONES LIKE KAISER BY CAB FILES:
This is really easy pick one of the numbered install files from "Kaiser - Modern Phones CAB Install Files.rar", you can either install the complete pack or just one of the sounds, however as it must have a constant number sequence in the registry, its programmed to replace the 3 base sounds in every pack. This is to ensure that the pack works correctly despite possible older mods. This means if you remove a pack it will also take the 3 base sounds with it, however at any time you want to go back run the htc base sounds pack, make sure you first uninstall the previous pack completely and the run the base pack install cab.
*Note: above numbered cab method only for newer phones with htc slide service like the kaiser, DONOT install onto older phones like wizard as this will not work see the next method.
METHOD 2: TO INSTALL BY ADD ON SLIDINGSOUND.CAB METHOD TO OLDER PHONES:
Install cab file and run sliding sound program, turn on slide detect service and assign wav files manually, refer to the list above for the appropriate numbers, there are two files to select from a simple "SlideSound.cab" file which just has a basic pop noise, additional sounds will need to be install manually, or to install the program and sounds all in one go, install the "SlideSound - All Sounds.cab"
*Note: above cab method is only for phones without the htc sliding sounds program built into your rom and only required on older phones like the herms, wizard etc..

Hi:
Thanks for posting this!
Sorry for the dumb question. Do I copy just the wav files to Windows, or the reg files also? If not, where do I need to place the reg files (I want to install all sounds)? I placed the All Sounds file in My Documents, and clicked on it, it opened reg editor, but did not seem to apply changes, as they are still not visible under sliding sounds.
Thanks so much for the help.
when i try to open the all sliding sounds.reg i get the message "The specified file is not a registry script" please advise
To import registry file you need phm reg edit.

Hi Plazma:
I do have PHM Reg Editor.
I copied the all sounds file to my documents, and clicked on it, which did open PHM reg editor, but it didn't seem to make any changes. The sliding sounds are still not visible in settings etc. I have soft reset etc. and I still do not see the new sounds. Should they be visible in the standard sliding sound settings?
Any idea what I could be doing wrong? Do I maybe need to have all the reg files on phone, or is it enough to use all sounds only?
Thanks again!
Check new install

Worked Perfectly!
Thanks so much, I was VERY sick of the piano sound
hi all,
Any chance of uploading it elsewhere other than rapishare or megaupload? Preferably mediafire or yourfilehost? Thanks ya!
Uninstall?
I have uninstalled this after I tried to make it work on my X1 (but failed) using the second option, and I am presented with an error at startup that it could not find slidesound.exe. I have checked the registry and cannot find anything in there. Any ideas??
Thanks
Worked fantastically on my Tilt 2. I love the Dalek one
Ok - I admit it - I am indeed seemingly the only person in the world who doesn't regularly view YouTube!
Therefore I'd like to remove it from my Favourites list on the Internet tab of TF3D.. although from what I can see this one is hardcoded (and not an Opera Favourite, indeed this link actually opens up the YouTube client and no Opera).
However.. while on the subject.. has anyone figured out how to control the ordering that these Favourites are displayed on the TF3D tab? From what I can make out, while within Opera they are alphabetic, in TF3D they are listed in the order they were created.
All ideas/suggestions welcomed! Thanks.
youtube...
No, you're not the only person. I don't watch youtube too. I'd like to remove it complete from the device. Any chance?
Well.. I've removed the whole internet tab from TF3D altogether (using TF3D config).
It's nothing but a globe and some links.. which I can also get from the programs tab. Ya might wanna try removing this whole tab and adding the opera link into your programs tab instead
I do not use it 2
I also had a problem with the internet tab. In my case (MDA compact IV) the opera favorites weren't displayed on the tab.
I've been searching the diamond and found some xml files in the following directory:
\Application Data\manila
There are several xml-files, choose the one for your own language-country combination. This file determines the contents of the internet tab.
1) Make a backup of the xml-file
2) Clear the read-only and the system flags of the xml-file.
3) Make the necessary changes.
4) Save and you are ready.
To remove the you-tube link, You'll have to delete the <link .... > entry from the <OperatorLinks> section.
P.S.
While you're there, you can also remove the <banner > field to get rid of the logo, and remove/change/add OperatorLinks ( e.g. the Search link), and detrmine wether you want to display the opera favorites.
By Christ. Removing the internet tab just to get rid of a bookmark is a bit bloody over the top!
Just delete the bookmarks you don't want from opera and they disappear.
How hard do you really need to make it??
Sheesh!!!
I realise that t-mobile and the other networks may have screwed with the touchflo to bugger it up, but if you have an HTC branded one then just edit the opera bookmarks!!
@Mods: perhaps someone could merge all these threads as they are all about the same topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408035
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408641
The solution posted above and in the other threads seems only to work for the MDA compact IV but not for the Diamond. Does anybody know how to change the internet tab on the Diamond?
Many thanks to all - I'd given up hope after my first ask
It's nice to be able to add icons for the operator links (only 62x62 tho')

Hey retard, why don't you shut up and go back to kindergarten! He can't DO THAT. It is NOT an Opera bookmark and you can't just delete it. If it was he would have done that - don't assume everybody is as stupid as you.

It's not working here. I removed the also the whole OperatorLinks section and you tube still there. I've tried to remove the read only flag and the system flag of the file. Try to softreset and deactivating touchflo3d before changing the file. Nothing works for me. Also i've searching the whole windows directory for other occurencies of the text 'you tube' and found nothing related. Additionaly I tried to changed the text 'you tube' in the OperatorLinks section, but the text didn't changed in the touchflo3d after restarting.
I'm using 1.93.
I, too, am interest in this! I'm sure there has to be a registry entry to remove it. Oh registry wizards?! Where art thou???
This variant worked on Touch diamond 1.93.
I thought I was the only one that didn't see youtube as the meaning of life and the Internet. It appears that we are at least a handful.
I did something VERY similar to the above and it worked (first shot) on a TD with 1.93.
But since the above didn't work for all, I better describe EXACTLY what I did:
1) By activesync copied the XML-file to PC
2) Removed RO-fileattribute
3) Opened it with notepad
4) Renamed the <Banner to <BBanner
5) Renamed (both halfs) of <OperatorLinks> to <OOperatorLinks>
6) Saved the file
7) Copied it back to another dir on th TD
8) Removed RO on original
9) Used TotalCommander to copy my changed file over the running.
10) Pressed the red reset-button
And look and behold. After boot It worked. The globe also went.
I noticed that the .qtc files mentioned in the .xml doesn't exist at the location given. e.g.
DefaultImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner.qtc"Nor anywhere else?
Actually the whole structure
"\Windows\HTC\doesn't exist!
Nor is there anywhere a directory or registry entry "InterNetPortal" nor "Assets"!! So this is all very strange...
But the interesting thing is that the widget now only shows my favorites.
Hope it works for others as well.
I must emphasize that I didn't try the original method, so that might also have done the trick.
After change, the file looks like this
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<InternetPortal>
<IncludeUserFavorites>True</IncludeUserFavorites>
<BBanner
DefaultImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner.qtc"
SelectedImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner_selected.qtc"
Text="Start webbrowser"
Width="480"
Height="215" /> <OOperatorLinks>
<Link
Text="YouTube"
Executable="\windows\youtube.exe"
ImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\youtube.qtc" /> </OOperatorLinks></InternetPortal>
----
After some more testing, I found out that the very odd values for "DefaultImagePath" and "SelectedImagePath" are MAGIC words! They could be replaced with 'any' picture-file. If the path or filename is invalid/nonexistent the picture is omitted. If these two magic values are used the standard globe will be used. The picture is scalable by height/width
Order of Opera favorites on widget, opera6.adr format
The favorites are shown on the widget in the order they appear in opera6.adr.
Opera6.adr is a rather plain text-file. But please note that by default the unix-style <LF>-only is used as line separator.
So if possible avoid editing with windows notepad, or change the <LF>'s
In vista-notepad <LF>'s are treated as zero-width blanks(!!), so it's VERY easy to get confused and mess things up. I wasted a lot of time, thinking it was a proprietary format, before I discovered the <LF>'s...

How did you edit it finally?
Vista WordPad?
EDIT:
I stopped touchflo, removed read only and system checkmarks on the file. Copied it over to the PC. Used Vista wordpad to open it. Edited it and when finished clicked save. Copied the new file over to the phone, replacing the one there. Started up touchflo and it worked!

How'd you manage to add icons for the operator links and are they limited to 62x62 simply due to the available space? Can icons be added for the favorites too?
"thank you for pasting the original xml file" helped me in restoring the default globe and removing telstra wap links especially the bigpond image!
I recently upgraded my Acrobat Reader without uninstalling the former version. Everything worked fine. Then I uninstalled the old version and it seems to have taken the file association for PDFs along with it. While looking for a solution, I found a lot of complicated schemes to modify the registry (no thanks), install a tweak program and do it from there (better, but why complicate things), etc. But it was actually quite simple. So for anyone who's in a similar predicament...
Here's how to set a file association in WM 6.1:
1. Open File Explorer and find a file of the type you want to associate to an app.
2. Hold down the stylus on the file name for a couple seconds (til you get the context menu) and choose "Open with program..."
3. Choose a program from the list on the top part of the resulting window, then check the box labeled "Associate selected Program with this file type."
4. Hit Open.
5. You may get a message to overwrite current association if there was a previous app associated with the file type, chances are you'll want to go ahead and overwrite so it will remember the association you prefer.
You're done!
This works great if you want to open some multimedia files with one program and others with a different program. For instance, I couldn't get Media Player to open my .AVI files, but it was the default association, now I set .AVIs to TCPMP and all is working great! ( I know TCPMP is one of the few programs that lets you set the association, this is just an example - and it was actually easier doing it as described above!)
That menu option's not there
I've got 6.1, but "open with program" is not a choice that pops up. I looked under properties, and it's not there either. Are you using a 3rd party file explorer?
You need File Explorer Extension, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421723&highlight=file+explorer
Nice!
Thanks for the tip!
I have a several different media players, and this is just what I needed to choose which program opens what file type.
Thanks again!
Thanks guys, really good software that complement very well the unfinished software of Microsoft..
Great for removing the "DocsToGo" association!

Thanks for the software but there is a problem
The file explorer is amazing. But I am facing a problem. I have an HTC Touch 3G running windows mobile 6.1. When I use this file explorer to change the file association, it successfully changes. However, the icon of the program it is associated with doesn't appear on the left of the file name. Only the windows icon appears to the left of the file name. However whenever I click on the file, it does open with the required software/player. But because the icon of the file type it is associated with does not display, it becomes slightly confusing for me to make out with which software will it open.
Thanking you in anticipation for the help!!
thanks a lot
FExplorer ext is a gr8 tool. It solved my file association problem for .jpg files.
Thank a lot again.

Changing the file associations in either described way is working fine. But the icons are still the windows system icons.
