How do I download programs directly to internal storage? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

When I download stuff it goes to main storage. I copy and paste to internal storage then erase main storage. There must be a easier way?
Thanks

May I suggest a couple of programs that may help
1) HTC4_Inbox A program that saves BT transferred files to storage card Start -> Settings -> Connections -> OBEX Inbox to choose where u want to recieve files.
2) Advance Config 3.3 a useful tool that allows you to specify the mapping of folders like;
My Documents
My Videos
Etc

Thanks
Yes I've tried adv conf but didn't like it.
However this other program is perfect, thanks so much

Why doing it the hard way? When you're downloading something on your Touch Diamond you can choose where to save the file. When downloading you will see a windows where you can choose from: 'Yes', 'Save as...' and 'Cancel'. When you choose 'Save as...' you can choose between Main Memory and Internal Storage. When choosing Internal Storage you can even choose the map where you want it to be stored.

clearing memory: how to tell which apps in phone memory?

Is there an easy way to tell which apps I've got installed are installed to phone memory, and which to storage card?
Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs
will give you a list (if install using CAB)
No easy way to tell if you had it installed in phone or card though.
Can you not use File Manager to navigate to Storage Card\Program Files?
PaulMdx has it.
With a few exceptions (some today plug-ins etc) you should be able to find device apps in \program files. . . and apps stored on the storage card in \storage card\program files.
Some programs require you to install them direct to the device anyway.

Prevent Cab installation to main memory?

I searched. I really did.
Is there a registry key that would allow or prevent installation of cab files to main device storage memory? I have users in Turkey who have the local version of the Kaiser and we can install cab files on the storage card but not on main device storage memory.

i dont get your question. you said that you can install them on storage cardd and you also asked how to prevent it from installing on device.
if you are installing on storage card, then what do you need to worry about the deviced?

dude anytime you install anything and you have a storage card in the device the Kaiser will ask you where to install the item. If this prompt doesn't appear you may have issues with your storage card.
In that case, put the microSD card into a converter and format it on your pc and try again.
If i am wrong then I have no idea what you are saying...
Let me try again.
We attempt to install a program via cab file to main memory. The installation fails with a message saying the installation is unsuccessful.
We then repeat the installation only this time we choose to install to the storage card. This time the installation is successful.
Question: Is this a registry key setting, or something else.
We need to install the programs to main memory. I suppose I should also validate that the program actually installed on the storage card as I've seen some that let always install to main memory no matter what you select.
Sorry for the poor wording last time.

What program are you attempting to install?
I am going on the assumption you are running a stock rom since I have no information to go from on your previous posts. Have you tried the certificates cab?

We are attempting to install a cab file related to an Oracle app. We have no problems like this with any of our other PDAs: US, Canada, France, Germany, etc...
We are running a stock ROM. It is a Turkcell Qtek S200
We do not want to disable the certificate checking due to security issues.
So far I would guess that there is no registry key that could cause this problem.
the guy has a point, there are some cabs that will still install to the device even if you chose storage card

This seems like a obvious question , but here goes. Are you sure you have enough main memory space? Oracle isn't known for their " lite " apps.
Here might be your answer:
http://freewareppc.com/utilities/cabinstl.shtml
I used to use this app for Dell Axim x50v which doesn't ask for location to install cab like the kaiser does when you have an sd card in.

Sorry for the delay in responding as I do appreciate the responses from others.
There is plenty of memory available but it is a fair question. The Oracle app we are installing is not that large.

change "interner speicher" to "speicherkarte"

Hi folks,
i have my new diamond a view hours and i configurated ALL my programms on storage card to work with the name "speicherkarte" (as i use a german device).
so i want to change the name of the internal storage of diamond from "interner speicher" to "speicherkarte".
is this possible?
my old reg keys to change the name of storagecard do not work....
any ideas
TRy doing it through schaps advanced config...have a look on XDA for it. You might be able to do it through there.
sktools
thanks for this hint.
i did it with SK-tools, (http://s-k-tools.com)
is also possible!
Hi there!
i thought this question might be right in this thread ...
first day with the diamond, and the first strange things occure ...
After disconnecting my Diamond from the usb slot my internal storage is renamed to internal storage 2, is there any way to change it back to internal storage ? maybe this can be solved with sk tools or schaps config? did not find the right functions until now
i tried to move the folder with totalcommander but the files can't be moved :/
can somebody help?
when after reboot the "internal storage" ist renamed with a number then a folder with the same name existed BEVOR reboot.
when you move everything OUT of this folder and DELETE it your "internal storage" will be named right....
thats is a security function to prevent data loss when a folder with same name exists as internal memory is named in ROM!

Do programs have to be installed to /device?

Or can I install to the "internal storage"? It seems like sometimes when I try to run an program installed to the internal storage it gives some kind of error. I'm not sure if it's the program or what?
For example, I'm installing the weather db editor thing and it says "file write protection of database couldn't removed"...something to that effect.
Thanks
i usually install system tools to /Device and games etc to /Internal Storage.
I dont think it should make a difference tho.
ok cool, thanks!

where is the personal date file?
just cant find it....
Which firmware do you have now? You have to go to application manager and then look at 'All' apps (in Froyo there is a tab, in Eclair you have to do Menu - Filter - All), then find Media Storage and clear data / cache.
