I recently came into a business with my father in law..And I was interested in doing everything with my fuze (probably with the help of a redfly and/or bluetooth printer in the service vehicle) and was wondering what good accounting and document creation software there is that would suit writing up service documents and such..thanks in advance

This time I’m asking for help
As you probably know, in real life, I’m an IT consultant giving advice to companies on networking architectural, databasing, TCP/IP, programming and last but not least mobile computing questions.
My new task is giving advice (writing a complete booklet on) on in which direction a given company should go: Microsoft Terminal Servers (with, possibly, Citrix Metaframe) or just “webizing” their in-house, custom-written current applications (whenever possible) - that is, converting it to be Web/ client-side (Ajax / JavaScript / ActiveX) and server-side (Java / ASP etc.).
For this, I’m looking for case studies. For the two distinct cases, I’ve found several case studies (that is, I don’t really need case studies that only discuss why a given company abandoned fat clients and went for, say, Citrix); I’d still need case studies that directly compare the two alternates and explain why a given company decided for one or the other and what influenced their decisions.
That is, if you know of, for example, magazine articles or anything of interest in this very subject (that is, preferably unbiased comparison of the full MS Terminal Server / Citrix solution to converting local apps to run off the Web and using “thin” Web browsers to access them in the company), I’d be highly grateful if you could share it with me – hope I haven’t run into it so far. Just a URL would be sufficient.
Hey everyone - this is my first post!
I just picked up an "AT&T" Tilt (with camera) and had my company sync it up with BlackBerry Connect/BlackBerry Enterprise. I have to say - this phone is AMAZING. I'm "upgrading" from a BlackBerry 8800 - which was no slouch either - just not as feature filled as the Tilt . Anyway, I have collected a nice selection of applications so far - but ONE capability is "missing". I would love to be able to download (or stream) specific music tracks of my choice right to my phone. This would REALLY help me for periods of time at the gym, at work, or waiting for airlines (where I would like to get music, but do not have immediate access to my PC). I see that Napster has a new service called "Napster Mobile" set up for this purpose... does anyone know if/how this is available for the Tilt, or if there are competing services available? I don't mind paying for the music (I will only download legally) - but I'm having trouble finding a client or simple webpage with this functionality. Thanks everyone!
bump - anyone?
Ok ive got this awesome new phone, just love it!
Ive got a hp 1800NW wifi printer, id like to be able to wifi print from anywhere in the house from my lovely new kaiser.
What tools do i need to get this job done?
Has anyone done this?
Many thanks
Surely this should have been one of the first things dealt with natively by win mobile 6?
Not sure if it works with WM6 (only mentions WM5), but this sounds like about the only product that will print via WiFi from a PPC....
Bachmann Software's PrintBoy V7
There's a 15-day trial available, so you don't have to shell out £50 for the full product until you've had a chance to test it!
By the look of things, it prints Word and PDF documents and not much more, so it might be less than useful
HTH,
Mark.
(Yeah, I've seen the TV advert too...looks pretty cool being able to print wirelessly, but it doesn't quite look as though its a reality just yet....)
I'd like to play with wifi printing as well, haven't even tried to search about this yet, hopefully there is an easy method!
WiFi printing has to be done with an app like Printboy (and there are a few around) but I have noticed that in WM6 there is now another option within the mail package.
If you click and hold on any message in the 'Inbox' window, the drop down menu shows 'Print via Bluetooth' and it works well with my HP 450BT printer.
Shame MS did not add this option for any other document though!!
EDIT.. Forgot that I had a registered copy of Printboy for my Universal. Dug it out, dusted it off and installed it on the 'Kaiser'.
Works fine, all you have to do is input the IP address and port 9100 and away it goes. Sometimes it does not format Word document pages too well and it is non-colour but its better than nothing!!
ok is there any free non demo prog available to do this?
thanks
I shelled out for PrintBoy and configured it to print to my networked OfficeJet via WiFi. It prints But there are 2 problems
1 - I can't print ANY SMS or POP3 emails. I can select them but the print button does nothing.
2 - to print word docs from Word Mobile, you must be sure and change the default template from ".docx" to the older ".doc" format of PrintBoy errors out.
I've got an email to tech support for help or refund. Fingers crossed.
I did find a different printing app, PIEprint by Fieldsoftware.com This adds a tap'n'hold print key option while surfing in PIE. This then prints the web page in Color VERY WELL (again over wiFi to my network OfficeJet). Cost $24.95 Great application!
I'm looking for any suggestions for a good email printer over WiFi, if PrintBoy won't work out.
I use JetCet and I am OK with it.
Thanks, I'll check out JetCet.
Here's PrintBoy's reply and my response;

Subject: RE: PrintBoy PPC v7, Email Printing....NOT
Hello Ed,
1. The registration screen does not retain your code. Once you get the successfully registered message , you are registered.
2. Currently PrintBoy does not support .docx files but we do hope to add this support in the future. We do not have an expected time frame for that release.
3. We have had a couple reported bugs in email printing that have been confirmed mostly for email transferred via Activesync. We will be resolving them in the next release. As a workaround, you would need to download mail and choose to "reply" and then save it as a draft then printing.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for the reply. First, it does look like I can “Forward” my emails and SMS messages, then save as draft, then open PrintBoy and print them. I’d like to add that NONE of my email or SMS is done thru Active Sync. So while this works, it’s not a very simple solution, especially for $50. Do you know approx when the next release is due out? It looks like the program hasn’t been updated in about a year or more?
Ed

asfoor, you rock! Thanks for the JetCet lead, it works Sooooo much better and it's only $19.95 go figure. Now I'm set for printing via WiFi
Hi Guys
I hope someone can help here, my Kaiser has office mobile but does nto have access built into this package
Is there a version of MS Access for WM6 at all and if so where can I find it?
Thanks
TW
www.kaione.com
sprintdb is probably the best option, but their sync is not yet compatible with active sync 4.5!!!!
Will this work with MS Access 2003 files though?
I use a Access DB a lot for one application and rather than converting query results to XLS files to view on my kaiser can i view access files while out on the move.
I am not worried about synch functions as i will simple upload the file to the device.
Check out www.syware.com they have database products. I used their product for several years when I was on the road.
You can get Access for windows mobile, i have a TYTN2 from orange UK and it is pre loaded with office, word, excel, powerpoint and access. I'm not sure where you can get an upgrade but it must be out there.
HandBase from ddh software is my favourite. If you get the professional version ($40) it comes with a PC sync conduit and forms designer. You can then link MSaccess tables directly to tables on your device and when you activesync they sync up too.
Worth downloading the demo.

I just ordered a G-Tab from Woot with the hopes of running Quickbooks on it, but only to update customers and print invoices on the job. Then when I get back to the office, I'd like to transfer the updates back to the main computer. So I have a couple questions to start:
1: Can I even put Quickbooks on my G-Tab (which I'm planning on rooting as soon as I receive it)?
2: If I can put it on the Tab, can I edit and print invoices, add customer info and then transfer it back to the main program?
I'm extremely new at this, just starting a business so I have no Quickbooks or G-Tab knowledge so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!

Not to state the obvious, but the Tablet runs Android. Not Windows.
I don't know of any Android version of QB.
If you do the QB online stuff, you *might* be able to interact via the web version?
I just found this in the market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=mrw.com.roadwarier&feature=search_result
Looks promising.
You can log in to your office computer remotely, then create and email invoices from there.
LogMeIn Ignition in the Market
It let's you access your office computer from your gTab and run stuff on it like you're in front of your computer. I use it all the time when I have to travel for business.

Another option... If you Google Intuit Billing Manager, they have an online FREE invoicing program. I use it quite a bit and it does work from the tab (or phone even).
You can export and import customer data to make the setup pretty easy. Again, this is just a quick way to get an invoice out and will also email the invoice real time when you are done sending a copy to yourself and your customer.
