Try with Resco Explorer.

Maybe you should make sure that the files are not read only files. If they are change the properties and you should be able to move them. Also if the files are in use by the OS you will be denied acess to them.

Replace wavedev.dll

Hello,
As everybody already knows there are some serous problems with Qtek9090 device type models and carkits. A nice echo is produced when somebody is calling. I have a wavedev.dll file that should resolve this issue but I can't replace it on my Qtek9090 because it's a system file. How can I force this replacement?
Thanxz for any response, I bought this complete set and i'm thinking about it to return it. Operator T-Mobile, rom1.40, radio 1.20.
Peterpanman.
rename existing wavedev.dll to wavedev.bak, copy the new file and reboot.
Just curious but is it definitely Radio 1.20 or 1.12 as 1.13 is the latest I know of....
wavdev.dll
hello mamaich,
of course i can not rename the file because it is a system file, in use, attributes can not be removed. anybody has another idea?
peter
(sorry for the type mismatch radio 1.12)
Re: wavdev.dll
1. All files in ROM can be freely overwritten even if they are loaded by applications. But they of cause cannot be renamed.
2. Files in object store that are opened cannot be overwriten. So if you cannot do that - than this file is contained in object store and was already updated, probably by some CAB from extended ROM.
3. WM2003 allowed opened files from object store to be renamed. According to your post you have 2003SE.
If you cannot rename this file - the file may be in ROM, so you can freely overwrite it with explorer.
If you cannot overwrite it - you still can rename it. In this case after renaming there would 2 copies of file. One with the new name, and the old wavedev.dll would reappear (the ROM version would be visible again).
In some rare cases some program may completely prohibit access to the file, but i've never seen that for DLLs. Unless you are using some PocketPC antivirus (a completely silly idea by the way). In this case uninstall antivir and do a soft reset.
WM2005 does not allow user to overwrite ROM files, but they can be still overwritten by OS itself, for example by creating a custom CAB file. I do this in my WM5 patches.
Not working
Hello mamaich,
Thanks for the complete answer but unfortunally none of these options work. Renaming the file does not create a new copy of the renamed file. I can't even copy the file, it says \\Windows\wavedev.dll access denied. Maby you can tell me how to create a .cab file so that this file is copied and overwritten? something with .net or something?
Thanxz,
Peter

You can use WinCe Cab Manager

A way through the "locked in ROM" problem?

Is there a way to easily bypass the "Locked in ROM" problem?
As an example; when you copy a file named "welcomehead.96.png" into thewindows folder, you get a message saying you can't do it. When you look at properties, you find that the "Locked in ROM" option is checked and grayed out. Can I fix this?
Thanks
I would really appreciate it if anyone who have replaced the welcomehead.96.png file, wuld tell me how you did it, and what ROM you are using
I was able to do it with Resco File Explorer. I just copied the file to My Documents, and then opened Resco and was able to copy the file to the Windows folder. It would then prompt me to overwrite the ROM file and I confirmed, and it worked fine.
Hope this helps.
Welcomehead
Works just as SacTilt described. I have done it many times on mine.
I have used Total Commander and had no problems at all.
Thank you for the replies. But what kind of ROMs where you guys using?
I'm using Dutty's, so I guess it might have something to do with what Dutty may have done. I dunno

The ROM that you are using, shouldn't matter. What application are you using to copy the file? What is the process that you are going through to complete this?
Right, rom doesn't matter, it's the fact that the stock file explorer can't over-write read-only files like welcomehead but 3rd party file managers like Resco can.
using Dutty v3, and Total Commander to copy welcomehead.96.png file
no problem at all
Straaange. I was able to do it before, but after a softreset at some time, I couldn't. I've tried, Resco, Total Commander, stock explorer and the one with Device manager. All gives me a "no access" error. :\
I tried with Dutty v2 and the included Total Commander, it won't work
i have duttys v3 on mt tilt what i had to do was use total comander first to delete the original... then i used the file explorer to drop in the new one... but tbh i think i had to do it like that cuz i couldnt figure out how to do it all with total comanader

how to install cab file?

Hey I am new, and I am wondering how do you install cab files? I downloaded the midlet manager and i extracted it on my pc, and i see a bunch of files but none of them are cab files, they are all unidentified, can some one help me please? much appreciated
thanks in advanced
Just copy and paste the zipped cabfile in your phone anywhere through Activesync, preferably 'My documents' folder and execute it there in the phone,it'll run and install all by itself.
Cheers!
when I extract the file,I dont see any cab files, So i just put the whole folder in my phone,I try clicking on the files and they wont open,I just get a message sayin
"There is no application associated with "00CAB10A",run application first then open this file from within the application
ok, for 'Midlet' here's how you do it as per the post in Midlet Manager by risidoro:-
------- HOW TO INSTALL ------------
- Download Risidoro's Intent MIDlet Manager version 11.1.7.1023
- extract the cab (inside the archive) somewhere in your PC (e.g. Desktop)
- copy to somewhere in your PocketPC (e.g. \storage card)
- in your PocketPC, navigate with File Manager to the cab and tap on it to install
- when asked, choose to install in the Device (and NOT in Storage Card!)
- reboot when asked
or read the thread :-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286604
Cheers!

You are NOT supposed to unpack the CAB!!!
You must copy the cab (Risidoro_Intent_MIDlet_Manager_11.1.7.1023.cab) found inside the zip file from the thread that zabardast linked to your device and simple run it (one click via File Explorer or double-click with Total Commander)
as simple as that...
thank you so much
I got it installed
ok I have a htc droid eris and I can't find the file manager on my phone to get to the files on the sdcard. so I downloaded a file manager app and when I click on the .cab file it does not just install it asks what I want to do open with kind of thing. like browser and a bunch more things I have tried most of them and nothing is working. Is there something else I need to install a .cab file with this phone or wtf is my dumb butt doing wrong to not be able to install it.
Install .cab files to unlock sd card.
Hi, think ive messed up here... can someone help or confirm my balls up!
Ive been following this tutorial to flash my hd2 with an updatable Win.7 rom;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236027
Charging ahead, installed, had a few probs along the way but worked through them... got it installed and working!
Then, moving onto step two of my plan, a dual boot of Android from sd card... :S Do you know whats coming? After re-reading the install instructions I noticed the 'Unlock SDCard' a few steps before installing the rom. :S I have now learnt that Windows mobile 7 locks the sd card to the device and is un-usable in anything else, having already messed up an 8gb and a 16gb...!
Could anyone please tell me if it is possible to 'somehow' install the .cab files to unlock the sd card...? or anyone know of a way to decrypt the sd card?
"THE SD CARD IS UN-READABLE IN MY PC AND PHONE WITH WM6.5 STOCK ROM"
If I re-install the rom from the 'back to the future' tutorial (link above), the storage is available for use on the hd2, but still cannot be seen by my PC... making it hard to install .cab file or anything else!
Both my sd cards have effectivly been high-jacked by microsoft...!
Please help me liberate my GB's...!

Deleting files that I dont need in WINDOWS directory.

Hello
How can I delete files in the "windows" directory?
Those files that I want to delete are not important or anything so I want to delete them.
I mean those "Album_Sample" pictures and one .3gp video.
In Files Explorer on my Diamond I cant delete them and when I connect my diamond to my PC and I try to do it this way it says that I dont have a permission to do it. Please help me how to do this.
Thanks
Sorry for my english...
Total Commander will let you do it:
http://www.ghisler.com/download.htm
Note: you'll have to go to File -> Properties to remove the Read Only and/or System File properties from the files you want to delete before you can delete them.
Also, I find TC easier to use with a full keyboard, and I use My Mobiler to access my system when altering the registry/Windows files:

Good luck!

These files are probably in the ROM, so you can't delete them. You could overwrite them but this doesn't save any space because the originals are always kept.
You need to cook another ROM without them.
As already mentioned, those files are probably in ROM (and thus not something you can delete) BUT in the off-chance they are not, you can do the following to delete trouble-some or "locked" files:
1. Install Resco Explorer
2. Delete the suspect files (they will be moved to "Recycle Bin")
3. Restart your device
4. In Resco Explorer, empty the Recycle Bin
Ta-Da -- files gone.
Again, if they are in ROM, this won't work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487273&#post3391135
why not learn to cook ur own ROM? at ur own risk of cos... my own ROM gives me a total of 107mb of program memory and total of 123.3mb of storage memory.. plenty of space and so much less lag...
we used to say that lagging and hanging is one of the feature for WM devices.. but that's in the past now.. now i'm only trying to figure out if it is possible to partition it so that i can put more space to program memory from the storage...
Good luck..

Error when trying to replace ddl file in windows directory

Hi,
I wanted to customize my htc touch pro a little bit by changing the battery icon, but that requires me to replace a ddl file, but heres the problem, i cant replace it
I cant replace it using the total commander on the phone, and not using my windows when connected to my computer.
Does anyone know how i can remove the limitations so i can replace ddl files in the windows directory?
Using Windows Mobile 6.1
In total commander, copy the file to the \Temp folder. Then CUT the file from temp, and paste it into \Windows. That should work.
If that still doesn't work, you can try this:
Rename the original dll in \Windows (I like to add a new suffix like .old with Total Commander).
Copy the file into temp.
Cut/paste from temp to windows.
Reboot phone.
If THAT doesn't work, then I don't know what to tell you.
Are you on a custom or stock ROM?
If it's a stock ROM, you will need to install Security Certificates in order for the .DLL to work.
Additionally, it is possible that Security Policies are in place that prevent execution of of .DLL that are unsigned.
