Hallo All,
I have a touch diamond since thursday. Now i hae some questions.
The first thing, is it possible to put windows mobile 6.5 on my touch diamond?
Is it possible if i take a ROM with wm 6.5, put it on. En if i don't like it put it back to the htc rom it is now.
Greetings Paul
yes. go to the Rom development section of the Diamond forums on here.
be sure to read the sticked threads at the top of the page though or you can damage your device. also note that WM6.5 is in beta at the moment
i take no responsibility for any damage or loss of data that occurs through you following the procedures listed there. i take no responsibilty for anything that happes as a result of that either. do it at your own risk

Hi,
in a few days Im gonna get my first pda/phone (I choose the Kaiser), and I have some questions regarding software modding, and the device itself.
1. What are the risks of flashing a new ROM?
2. Is it possible to completly break your phone?
3. Can you always get back to your original setup (downgrade)?
4. What are the most common things to break in a pda/phone? (ie. Kaiser)
5. Do PPC programs work for a Smartphone /w WM6 ?
Im not planning to mod my phone right after I get it, but I will eventually. In my past I've modded my PSP and SE k750i so I have some experience.
Thank you.

1. not liking the rom. installing a beta that still has bugs. or the worst that can happen is "bricking" your phone which means something went really wrong and you cant use your phone anymore
2. yes. a bad rom or something bad happening.
3. if you put a new rom, you can go back. there are walk throughs on how to do this
4. the screen....when you drop it
5. some do. but the kaiser isnt a smartphone, fyi. it's a PPC phone. smartphones are like PPC phones, but dont have touchscreens.
I've read the Upgrading Kaiser forums, and duttythroys modded ROM seems to be a very nice update, esspecialy the full TouchFLO features. What would the risk be of upgrading to that ROM? Is it a tested build? And is there any difference if I would upgrade it on a Polish version of the HTC Kaiser (non-branded)?
i suggest reading the responses in that thread as if you think it's tested or not as the only responses you will read on that rom are in that thread. and post asking about if there's any language issues in that thread.
Hi there!
After having a HTC Touch Cruise I am a proud owner of a Diamond now, it seems that Cruises don't really like being dipped in water ;-)
I'm wanting to upgrade my diamond from the factory ROM/Radio 1.37.404.3 NLD / 1.00.25.03 to the new one distributed through HTC with radio 1.00.25.05. I've done this before on the Cruise, but I was able to make a FULL backup first of the complete ROM.
Since it is recommended by you guys here to use HardSPL these days, I want to upgrade my bootloader too. All the procedures are clear as glass here, so no problem ... but, where I used to be able to find a walkthrough on how to backup everything (Bootloader/Radio/ROM) for my Cruise, I cannot find it for the Diamond.
How can I perform a complete backup of my Diamond, so that in a case of needed support from HTC, I can simply flash everything back to the exact state of today, and hand the device in?
I've already used Sprite, distributed by HTC, but since it uses only one file as a result, I am assuming this is the ROM only?
Thx!

Some have said that there is a new ROM that HTC have released. Meant to improve them sort of issues. Think its something like 2.02 or 2.03 to look for. I would check that your able to upgrade to that ROM first though before going ahead and doing that. I have a Touch Diamond as well and the device is very laggy at times I find. I've had the device for some time and there does come a point where you think its necessary to do something about it. I've been thinking of getting rid of my Touch Diamond but not for just that reason alone. I have problems in answering and cancelling calls sometimes using the hardware buttons on the phone and when locking by holding down the call end key, sometimes the device does not lock and that does annoy me. However, there are a lot of developments going on all the time to improve the device, some of the problems are simply Windows Mobile though.
It's the developments that go on in this forum and some other places on the net that keep me interested in the Windows Mobile developments for the Touch Diamond.
2.03 rom
this is the latest rom
use the search button and you will find
also many cooked roms using this rom too.
good luck
can everybody Recommend me one rom, where dont crash my touch diamond?

2.03 Stock rom, go to xda-wiki if yours is CID locked, if not locked, then just get the newest one from htc.com
I've got a Sprint Touch Diamond with WM6.1 that's a year old. Can I download WM6.5 and have it work on my phone? Is there a possibility that it will damage my phone? I'm afraid that if I install WM6.5 and update the ROM (of whatever else needs to be done) that I'll mess my phone up...
Sorry to ask, but I've never updated the ROM or anything like that, so this is all new to me. I've added in a few small programs from here and gotten some good wallpaper photos.

yes and No my friend. you won't screw-up your phone as long as you follow the tutorials for unlocking & flashing. WM6.5 by itself can't do any harm to your phone.
but you can damage your phone if you flash a ROM( 6.1-6.5) from other device. specially with the diamond people may get confused because there are two different models (gsm/cdma). ie if yoy flash a gsm rom into a cdma phone for sure you'll brick it. both are diamonds but there are totally different hardware.
this forum is for diamond-cdma models also call Victor so you can unlock/flash a 6.5 rom into your phone without any problem if your phone is a diamond-cdma phone (without sim).
read this great tutorial:

Another thing, it might seem difficult at first, but it will become easy as time goes on. I have Windows Mobile 6.5 on my HTC Touch Diamond, and I'm on Sprint, so I just want to let you know yes, it's possible. =]
My phone is BELL HTC TOUCH DIAMOND (CDMA). My only question is: can I go back?
Yes, just unlock your phone.
You can go back to the Stock ROM if needed.

I assume you are new to the forum.
My advice would be to read the sticky threads at the top of the first page of the forum. View the How To videos in those threads, etc.
That should give you enough to start flashing custom ROMs if that's what you want to do.
All the WM6.5 ROMs are custom - Sony Ericsson decided not to do an official upgrade.

well I think he's asking about an official upgrade.. wich isn't avaible due to SE decision. But that's why here's xda-devs and many many custom ROM-s.
But be awware, to flash a custom ROM you need to hard SPL the phone and you loose your warranty (you can allways re-stock SPL..) And I must admint all 6.5 ROMs on x1 are very very slow compared to 6.1
WM 6.5 is not to bad I like the look of the dialer and it is easier to dial too. Speedwise I didnt see much difference also before I am only getting 3G now it is showing H not sure if its HSDPA ( Rogers) now whenever I am connecting online.
