how to add your city in htc home weather

i found this and i think it can be useful
Customizing the Weather Plug-in
Let's say we want to add the city of Bremen in Germany to our HTC Touch Weather Plug-in (this works for every other city as well that can be found at AccuWeather.Com).
• Look up the City of your Choice
Go to http://www.accuweather.com/ and enter your desired city in the search field called "Local Weather Forecast", in our case: Bremen, Germany.
After you have clicked yourself to your local weather site, take a look at the browser's address bar and copy the location code from the URL.
• Edit the XML file
Now navigate to your Windows directory in the pocket pc. Find the file called "HH_0407_WeatherCities.xml" and change its properties so it can be edited (uncheck read-only tickbox).
Then, click on "File" - "Edit" and duplicate a line of XML code, preferably in the right alphabetical place. In general, such a line of code contains the following:
<city name="Cityname, COUNTRY" locationcode="LOCATIONCODE_YOU_COPIED_BEFORE"/>
So in our case we would change the entries to this:
<city name="Bremen, DE" locationcode="EUR|DE|GM005|BREMEN"/>
Save the file and reset its properties again to read-only.
this can be done on your pc too by simply sending the file in your desktop pc and do your magic there
also i have an xml ready for greek friends
with athens patra korinthos and salonika
just extract and put it in your windows folder in your pocket pc

When that's happened to me, I disconnect the data session. Once it reconnects it works just fine. You might want to try that...or a soft reset...but the data connection is faster.

This method does not work on Dutty's v4 Rom. The .dll has to be changed...

I have the tilt and when I go on the windows file I found the HH file but it's the HH_0409 and I do not know how to edit it.

This worked great in the DCS ROM!!! You do have to do a soft reset for the changes to take.

Ok, I almost got it, can you explain location code? I do not see the pic you mentioned in the first post. I live in US Thibodaux LA 70301. How should I type this in when I edit the file? I have the URL number, which part is the code?

I still cannot edit!!!! And my file is 0409. does this make a difference?

The file is not editable even when you take it out of read only mode.

firsto of all the answer in that is that accuweather looks great on our kaiser

secondly i have to say that i get irritated without trying to play it smart but when it says at the first post change properties from read only i cannot understand the post about the file not being editable if on read only (7th row )
i am not american so i read english as most of you
i wouldnt say all these things but i got tired of reading threads with 2500 posts and on about 95% of those posts can be answered in the very first post

a file in ROM no matter if you uncheck read only cannot be edited, unless you can unlock the ROM for read/write which if i understand correctly has to be done before you flash the rom to the phone. There is a reason its called ROM (Read Only Memory).

is it like that?

Not knowing your setup i dont know. I do know that the file in my memory says its in the ROM and if i uncheck the read only part i cant do anything to the file as it is in the ROM, and the file cannot have the read only flag changed.
If you take a look at your own file properties and it has a little checkbox checked that says its in the ROM and you can edit it then i guess you do have a ROM that can me edited if not, well you should investigate things before you make claims like that.

the tracker works great! buuuuuut I have a problem, I can't import the .kml file into google earth. Although I open it (with a text editor) and the coordinates seem correct, when I import it, google earth sets all the coordinates in the north pole ¿?¿?

it really looks good And i like the "simple" stuff. Exactly the needed functionality. The only thinmg I miss is the possibility to save the files as GPX.
Oh and it would be perfect if it is possible to disable all button's but the power button when the screen is of.

I cannot see the truck in google earth ... why?

Strange that you do not see anything in Google Earth. I just tested again, all OK. I use Windows version: "Google Earth 4.3.7284.3916 (beta) Build Date Jul 8 2008"
The KML file is quite simple - I looked an existing KML sample supplied with Google Earth (called, of course, "KML Samples"), found the simplest one with "path" and simply put the new coordinates there.
Try to put a single point in the coordinates and see if it works for you?
The only bit this I can think of is the "Z" coordinate, which is "optional" according to Google manual. But maybe in your version you need that "Z" as well (this will be the 3rd number after lat/long, - put 0 there, note it is separated by comma.
Also I removed entry called "<LookAt>" - but seems my version can set the eye position automatically...

Re the buttons: I have not explore all the Diamond settings in details: on mine, by default, all the buttons are locked as I click software button "BkLight Off". Then I switch it back with hardware "power" button. Do you have the same?
BTW: here is the Google sample I used as a template - try if this works (and after removing which field it does not!). BTW, according to Google help, it might be possible to use GoogleMaps for viewing KML file (but I was not able to make this work on Diamond) - anyone tried?

The problem is that you use the comma character to separate the decimal part, whereas kml files use the dot
this is:
google: -112.0814237830345,36.10677870477137
you: -112,0814237830345,36,10677870477137
I replaced the commas for dots and now google shows the route correctly
BTW, the Z coordinate is not needed, as you guessed.

It runs on my Diamond, but i Am inhouse at the moment, so no gps signal, but it works so far. can you explain the "GPS sample validity" a little more, please ? i donßt understand your readme. And "GPS activity", does it mean that the tool saves point in this time frame or that GPS is activated after this time, send the position, goes off and wait for some minutes ? And when it goes on, how long do it try to receive a signal ? For example, if i go in a house, does it start the gps and try to receive for hours or does it switch the gps off after some time ?
I hope you keep developing, very good start for the concept. Is there a chance to improve the design ? Maybe in Manila style ? Like the small "stopwatch 1.01" tool, simple, but great design, improves it a lot !!

Regarding start/stop : if you select an option "GPS activity" "run every xx sec", then:
1) as soon as you get a valid sample (to decide that it is valid - the second option is used "GPS sample valid xx sec") - GPS is switched OFF and a timer started for xx sec.
2) as timer expires, it starts GPS
3) GPS starts searching and as soon it get a valid sample (see 1)...
So, it means that you need to add "search time" to "timer time" - that will be your distance between samples. Clearly, the longer the timer time, it will takes longer for GPS to get a valid sample again.
The battery usage is printed at start/stop - I specially added this to estimate usage. I did not have much chance to test, but with "GPS always on" and "3 sec valid time" (as you load the file back, it shows as "gps options 0/3 sec" after file name) - I think it shall run for
about 3 hours.
BTW, I noticed the application hangs sometimes when it frequently start/stop GPS (I tried 5 sec / 5 sec), AND you have a few other applications running (blame Microsoft ... it was not me). I guess the GPS start/stop is a bit stressful for the system, so this could explain. I am looking into this. At default mode (0/3 sec) all seems works fine. Again - look at source code, maybe you have some suggestions?

Yes, search for TrackMe here on XDA, and for the serverfiles.
The serverfiles have a build-in google maps API, sure you can work it out.

great app - a suggestion
This is a fantastic app...I love the simplicity and the functionality.
I'm trying to find something that is as close to Nokia's sports tracker as possible for WM6.1 and this is near as perfect.
One suggestion for added functionality...
is it possible to add markers to show:
fastest point
slowest point
highest point
lowest point
These are then visible on the .kml file in google earth/maps.

I will be posting the latest version into the first post, so please check it for updates. The latest update is for KML output fix, also I added GPX output day before.
Re battery usage - I noticed that as you switch GPS on, the battery reduces quickly (which looks ok, as battery current increases, so voltage drops), but then it drains the battery not as fast. I.e. 20 min run might not be an indication how long it will last.

the 1) part makes me a little bit worried. Can you change that to a number of sattelites used or a certain hdop to decide that a signal is valid instead of taking a "GPS sample valid xx sec"
I really like your tool It would be nice to have a option for the folder where the logs should be stored.

I think I was not very clear about "valid xx sec" - Of course, first of all I check that the position/velocity/heigth is "valid" - this information is provided by the GPS. I.e. this means that you have proper GPS lock first. Also each gps sample has time stamp, so I additionally check that the sample is fresh enough. This seems useful when you switch "off" GPS, then switch it "on" - and it could return "old" sample at start.
Regarding the location of the stored files - I thought it is quite easy to remember that these are stored with the application (so you do not need to search for them...). If you would like to change the folder, the easiest would be to copy the tool in any place you like! I just wanted to keep the number of buttons (and options) to very minimum ...

[APP] DTMF DIALER -Download - V2.5 (calling card functions)

Hi guys... I recently noticed that 99% of my contacts are on my cell phone, so Lazy as I am, well I normally just grab the phone and dial... then I get into Cell Phone charges.
well where I live cell phone charges and regular phone charges are way different, I always have to pay a lot more for the Cellphone calls.
So I wanted an easy way to use my contacts right on my Cell Phone to my regular phone, then I made DTMF Dialer.
it's a very simple program, it will list your contacts, then when you select one, you will get 3 buttons filled with the 3 main phone numbers of that person:
Cell
Home
Buissness
you select the number you want to dial, then it will fill itself on a box, after
that you just grab your regular phone, "open it" until you get a dial tone, move the Cell near the regular phone microphone and click dial.
the cell phone then will emit the DTMF tones to dial the phone number you requested, that's it.
I made this software like 3 weeks ago, and so far I have saved some $ using the regular phone line, so with all the help you guys at XDA developers have given me I decided to release it.
I normally code in delphi, so C# is not my strongest point, and yes the program might look a bit lame, plain and simple, basically I made it for my personal use, but if anyone has ideas on how to make it better

Also, I know that at least in my case that I have a gazillion contacts it takes a while to load, maybe there's something in the NET CF api to load all contacts faster or to query them different than what I did, but as I said it works.

Took on the request of the guys here on XDA and changed this:
-NOW the system loads VERY VERY fast ! woot... I am using another class to open the contacts !
-DTMF tones are very VERY fast now also ... tested and works !

I changed the software so now it can take a prefix, if it finds a prefix, it dials it automatically, with no prefix, it does not gets dialed ( duh )

First of all I found a bug... the business phone was not being loaded correclty ( fixed )
added calling card capabilities ( via a script )
functions:
d=selected phone number
c=calling card
p=pause 0.5s
x=prefix
( if you check the calling card button, the normal dial will be overriden by

PD. you need net CF 3.5 to use this... (I got rid of the CF 3.5 parts so it now can be compiled with CF 2.0, but I made a big mess while compiling so I'm gonna try to see if I can release a CF 2.0 asap )

Great App
There are 101 uses for a DTMF Dialer. The tones need to be about 10x faster. Also, needs support for pause. (p=3 sec)

It seems to screw up with international format (+xx) numbers though, and yes a bit slow.

Hi, I will fix the international format... and I will add a user defined pause, so it can do things faster or slower, then release another version, on the space besides the dial tone you can write any number manually, just in case I left that one open, I slept on it and I think that other software query the names, then the numbers on request and I query EVERYTHING, I'll look how to change that on Net Cf... I guess it has to be possible.

Very good program, but too bad, I don't seem to get it to work wigh my TyTN II. Although I manage to get my house phone to dial, it didn't get through and happenedtto 1land line and 1 mobile number. Is it because thd sounds were too fast?

How about using this program while on a call to send dtmf tones for prepaid calling cards. It would be really nice. No winmo dialer has this function...a pity..even the cheapest nokia or dect phones all have this function. Inclusion into your program will be highly appreciated.

No, it's not because the sounds are too fast, I noticed that if the Volume is VERY high, due to the quality of our phones, it distorts the sound, so it has to be like "medium" for it to work, actually I am currently looking into the CF and checking how can I save the current volume set it lower when you use the DTMF and then restore it back, basically I am working on this and the prefix.
No idea if it will be released with the prefix part but, still, I am working on those 2 issues together, however the fix right now is to lower the volume on the phone =)

ok... Just explain to me how calling cards work I don't have one... and I think I have not used one in my life but from what I have readed, mostly what you would need is a way to create a formated input for instance:
make a field where it say calling card there you write the calling card data...
so now I would have to add like a pause...
lets say you have to do this when you use your calling card:
type a number, wait for 2 seconds, type the calling card number, wait for 1 second then maybe dial a pin then the phone number ( just an example )
so maybe I could add a place where you can write a sequence like:
800123pppp12345678900pp555d
so the format would be something like:
p: = pause for 0.5 seconds
d: = dial number
maybe just in case an x for a prefix...
so lets say an example with a person that needs to dial a prefix
x<Phone for the card>pp<pin>pp<Card Number>ppd
that would mean:
x = dial prefix
dial the DTMF for the card
pp = wait 0.5s ( x 2 )
dial the pin for the card
pp=wait 0.5s (x2)
dial the card number
pp = wait 0.5 (x2 )
d = dial the desired phone number.
if that sounds correct tell me so I can implement it

Prepaid phone cards always have an access number that can be local, national and sometimes international plus a pin that can be upto 16 digits.
SCENARIO
To make a call you have to:
1. dial card access number then wait for voice prompt.
2. voice prompt ask for card pin.
3. pin is dialed
4. now voice prompt ask for destination phone number.
5. at this point I would like to search through my contacts using the same phone then automatically send the number as dtmf tones to complete the call.
Both the card pin and access number are written on the card but not my destination number, so to complete a call I have to first write my destination number on a piece of paper which can be irritating sometimes and a pen is not always handy. So i would be happy if your program can fulfil this task or if you can direct me to a suitable program to buy.

Just a small update, I have all the Dialing Card things done, ( not released YET ) it works like this, currently you have 4 commands:
c = will dial your calling card ( specified on another location )
d = will dial your currently selected number
p = will pause for 0.5s
x = will dial your prefix ( if there's one )
so now you go on the Calling Card part and you can write a "mini" DTMF program for instance lets say you have this values:
Number to dial : 555-060708
prefix : 888
Calling card : 0000
then you can write something like this on the Calling Card Editor

Translated that would be:
Dial prefix
pause (0.5x4) = 2 seconds
dial the calling card
pause (0.5x4) = 2 seconds
dial 2222 ( your pin for instance )
pause (0.5x2) = 1 second
dial your number
so it will generate this DTMF tones using the values I used above:
888 ( wait 2 seconds ) 0000 (wait 2 seconds ) 2222 ( wait 1 second ) 555060708
actually when you have the Dialing card script enabled it disables the normal dial: ( prefix )(number)
and substitutes it for the script.
now I think that for the next version I'll add the pound and the number keys
it could be useful for when one dials over and over to a place where you have to dial an extension... and maybe who knows, I could allow people to save and load different "scripts"
for now the new version has not been released because I have to make it save the data of the calling card script, but, I will do that when I wake up ( 5:15am here )
after that I'll release it, so I guess in like 8-10 hours, if everything goes smooth !

ok Version 2.5 is out, for instance to create the scenario that joe wrote you would have to script this:
800

translated would do this:
1-dial the card access number in this case 800
2-wait for 3 seconds
3-dials the pin in this case 123
4-dials the phone number you select
another example:

Thanks for the quick response and effort, unfortunately it is not not what I wanted. I am using xperia dialer on my tilt and I would like an option through the menu to select a destination contact and send it automatically as dtmf instead of pressing each number manually. I don't know how to explain this any better, but it is a common funtion on many i.e nokia and cordless phones.

joe, well I can't alter Xperia Dialer, edit the menu or even grab what you selected, however this does what you want... when you click on select a contact, you get a dialog to select the person you want to dial to, then when you press on dial, it will emit the DTMF tones for the number, now since you wanted to automate the calling card process, I added the scripting lang to it, so you can keep in memory your dialing card with all the process it needs to make a call using your calling card, whatever you do by hand, you can automate it here.
just make the script that will suit your needs, it will work.

during the install it pop up a message but i could not understand it cause it was in russian i guess, do you mind changing it english

also GPS setup dont work, when i tap it, nothing happens, website to buy license is dead, so i cant test the rest of the features for the time being, will fully test it more later on.

so far it seems to be working as you hope, limited license IS very limited, which includes command that gives a kick back message to sender when it requires license info, certain features within the program that requires a license seems to be locked as you wanted, and u do get the annoying lil message at start that the program is unlicense, lol

Download updated .cab and install it. Before this send to your PDA SMS with following text: #0000#-protect
This will disable protection, so app will not perform isolation again.

Very nice and useful application!

the -protect didnt seems to work but i will send my app id, i used the hwid to get it, maybe i could register it by using the lic: command, good thing u added such a feature, lol

OK, I've got. "GPS setup" menu item is disabled for now, because GPS settings are taken from OS's configured GPS-minidriver. Own GPS-parser is under development now.

so far i cant get into the gps setup, advance option stays the same, DONT EVER ADD COMM MANGER to the Control List, it will block you from calling out, u should warn ppl about that or exclude the comm manager .exe from the control list

GPS Setup is simply disabled, but what about advanced options, what do you mean? You're unable to open advanced options window?
(May be I have bad understanding capabilities, because english is not my native lng )
In my mind, people are free to add everything that they like. They are warned about really critical exe like gwes.exe or filesys.exe. Because closing this apps leads to PDA halt.

the advance option opens, am able to check off and on settings but it does not save, when i apply and quit, then relaunch crimson it reverts back to the default settings.

In my device everything OK, advanced options are saved properly. Try to softreset your device. Are any other options stay the same?

after registering and softreset it works now, but i cant change my pass, when i try change password, it pops up asking me for current password, then goes back to menu upon entering the right code

Overall, I like this app. The following are suggestions for improvement.
Output text is too small.
Documentation is incomplete: What do the F1 & F2 keys do? And the arrow keys?

I was checking out this app in marketplace. I thought this was very interesting. I have a question. Could this app be used to edit files for the DF router application that some HD7 owners have deleted before putting thier USB mode back into zune mode? I was reading alot of people have this problem and when i saw this app, it occured to me that this might be the tool to fix the problem if anyone capable of using this app without destroying thier phone with could manage to navigate to the right files and edit them somehow to enable zune mode again.
Just a thought......

Actually this program to be useful for your problem ...
However. Policy microsoft wants to block user access to the internal content of the mobile phone.
Normally you have access only to "Isolated Storage" of the application.
However it may be possible to access a known way with the [cd 'path']. But in my opinion it is impossible to access personal data and true system. But I look on my side if I rouve a way around this ....
In my opinion Microsoft is not daccord to pass an application that would change everything. Hoping a change in next update.

This is a very interesting app, with a lot of potential. It's depressingly rare to find an app for WP7 that really tries something new and innovative, but this is one of those. From a fellow Swiss (albeit German-speaking) to another I can only encourage you to continue to develop and improve the app.
But... the app (in its free, ad-supported version) as I downloaded it today, is barely usable. The scrolling is erratic, often I don't know which part of the output I see at a given moment. When typing a command, most of the time I have to type blind because the SIP covers the command that I am typing. The command history is certainly a good idea, but somehow I always fail to get back the last command typed just before the last enter. I try output redirection, with a single greater-than sign instead of two such signs: This either does not work without any error message or crashes the app. Finally I manage to produce a file, use the "edit" command: Black writing on black background, unreadable. So many errors, all encountered in a first 10 minute trial run.
IMHO, this is an early beta and should be treated as such, e.g. distributed with the help of the beta process that Microsoft offers or directly as a .XAP file.
And now some suggestions: As I see it, the app really needs many more functions supporting the typing / issuing of commands; such functions would greatly improve the tool, they might be even the key to real acceptance. Typing on a phone is hard, typing commands with special characters like greater-signs even more so.
Save commands from one run of the tool to the next. Implement a command to view the whole command history in a listbox instead of one at a time in strict order. You may try something like command-autocomplete. Maybe predefine one-letter or two-letter aliases for the commands, "d" for "dir", "e" for "edit", and so on. After an error with an incomplete command do not just ask me to type "command /?" myself, that almost feels like a punishment to me to have to type that myself, pre-fill the command input box with that command line, or insert it into the history, or any other super-easy way to issue the /? command. If technically possible, it also would be nice to be able to select any displayed text and use it as part of a command.

Little mistake
I tried lite version. This is not working on my unlocked phone. I debugged it. Result:
Console WP7 wants to make directories under isolated storage after every starting and want to copy all music + all picture collection from phone to this storage. When mp3 or jpg in collection is not placed in \MyDocuments\Zune\Content subdirectory, Console crashes.
