Just saw on the WMPoweruser.com.
Youtube has created a native Windows Mobile application for displaying their videos on your phone, and its pretty good.
The user interface is attractive and uses fluid animations, and video quality is also very good, and apparently adaptive to the speed of your own connection
To download the app, visit http://m.youtube.com from your device. More cool features and app improvements are on the way, and the app will alert you as updates become available and allow you to upgrade with a single click.

Sweet, thanks for the heads up! Just installed and its pretty nice. I'm not sure if I like the button layout better than the original raphael youtube app but the transitions are pretty cool.
Pretty sweet. Works quickly and the streams are buffered properly.

Is it better that the native application installed in Touch Diamond/Pro ?
If i install this version, older will delete properly ?
I don't think it's better, I found it to be pretty crappy quality. And I have full 3G where I am.
I get a 403 error when I go to m.youtube.com
I think the youtube mobile site doesnt like PIE 6
Can anyone get a cab up for download?

I found a way around this.
If you are using a ROM with PIE 6 on it, you will need to use Opera to download the app, as YouTube Mobile doesn't recognize PIE 6.
Pop open Opera, and go to opera:config, scroll down to User Prefs and click on it, scroll down to Custom User-Agent and change it to "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11)", scroll down to save and have it.
After that close out of Opera completely and open it back up. Browse to m.youtube.com and you should see the download link right below the search bar.
The default Raphael Opera User Agent should be "HTC-P4600/1.2 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)"
weird ... i don't have user prefs in my opera:config
PIE6 worked fine for me as long as I had it set for mobile viewing.
Jeez you guys are difficult.
It works great. Other then that, the quality is pretty much poo.

Awesome, TC! Thank you!
Truthfully, I like HTC Youtube far better. Google Youtube streams faster (I suspect this is because I have High Quality set on HTC Youtube), but the video lags, and the interface is not as good as HTC's. Google Youtube seems to be more slick, and it does have an internal volume control (something HTC Youtube needs). Still, I just like HTC Youtube a lot more.
Nonetheless, I'm happy that Google is providing support for Windows Mobile now. Hopefully, we'll eventually get a program from Hulu. Once that happens, life is complete.
this is good...an alternative for nonHTC users

I thought so too, but it only overwrites the shortcut. After uninstalling Google YouTube, just follow these few steps to have the original HTC YouTube. Navigate to \Windows\YouTube.exe in file explorer, then click and hold to copy it, and then navigate to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and click and hold to "paste shortcut". That's all there is to it...
And yes, HTC YouTube program seriously trumps the Google YouTube app here. Nice find though!
i really like the HTC youtube App Much better, Except for the Speed Difference. The WinMo App is about 10times faster. But the interface isnt as pretty!

You have to download Flash in order for it to work.
You can also use vtap.com - has a rich client download that make searching and watching sweet.

add one more happy vtap user to the list. i just decided to try it because of this thread and its pretty cool for what it does. and we have access to all of youtube as opposed to the iPhone users. sure, they may have the better interface, but i'll take the larger library
Vtap is great!! The only problem I have is, on the site, it shows a view of the desired video like the youtube site would show but when inside the application, it only has a decriptions without a picture. Is this how it is for the Tilt version?

Me neither. I verified file associations within TCPMP. Notably, there's no 'Video Sites' shortcut in Programs.
Because in ATT ROM, real player is the default player for the PIE and it doesn't support youtube. since i flashed my tilt with HTC stock ROM, the default player is "streaming video" app which plays youtube video with no problem. i think there should be a way to change the default player in registery.
hm vtap is nice if it has what you are looking for, but i just did a search for a video that i had uploaded to youtube and it did not find it.

Just go to youtube.com on your cell, it will open "mobile youtube."
on the bottom of the page, click "classic view"
once there it should work with tcmd...

You're all forgetting to add that it also picks up videos from other sites, like MetaCafe, Google and Yahoo! Video and many others. Plus Wikipedia on the vTap just murks (that's "murder" for the ones not in the know) every other application or dictionary that tries to give us a mobile version of it on WM phones.
But the good thing is that the FlashVideoBundle works well also, just in case you prefered not to use a separate application...
i have vtap installed but i rather use regular youtube.
vtap and mtube lower the quality of the videos
can someone pls post the vFlashVideoBundle.CAB in this thread so I dont have to reg at that site. thanks!
Anyone have this on their Tilt/TYTN II and able surf the web? I keep getting an error that says "Unable to connect to the server. Please try later". I can connect with PIE, and Opera Mini, is there a setting or something I'm missing?
I dont use mine often, but I used it about 9 hours ago and it worked fine. With the older version, I got that error from time to time, maybe about 3% of the time. But since using the latest version, I have never seen the message.
I had to connect to the internet with regular IE, then start up Picsel Browser before it would work. You might try Netfront Browser instead, it works a lot better IMO.

Agreed. IMHO, Picsel is just isn't worth bothering with. Alternative browsers are WAY better. See http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...new Opera Mobile, Picsel, Spb Pocket Plus etc.
Thanks i'll check out net browser, i really liked the way picsel was setup but i can't tell how surfer the net is, all i know is PIE is slow for surfing the net and i don't like the way Opera Mini is setup, i've tried minimo which isn't too bad, but i can't seem to be able to scroll using the screen w/it, i have to use the scroll bars on the side and bottom.
Why don't you give Opera 8.65 mobile a try. I mean the real Opera mobile not Opera Mini. NetFront used to be my favourite browser but now I think Opera Mobile has overtaken NetFront plus the developers of NetFront have excessively slowed down their development process. Just see for almost a year they are just posting Technical Previews of version 3.4 and not the final version and for most of the Technical Previews I failed to see how it differed from the previous except for an extended expiry date.

does opera mobile work similar to opera mini? i mean the functions were you click to type into the search section of a site then it opens up another window were you type in what you want? that's one of the few features i don't like about opera mini, that and you can't take off the yahoo search function. and are you able to play youtube video's on opera mobile? or do you have to add programs to do that?
The behavior for new windows opening in Opera Mobile is exactly the same as on the real desktop internet explorer, specially if you have set it to allow opening of Pop-Up windows.
Regarding playing of Youtube movies, yes it does manage playback but the video is very choppy.
I suggest why not try the free evaluation version?
Regards

that's what i did was download the 30day trial, i'm mainly just looking for something that will load pages a little faster than PIE, if i can play videos of sites, that'd be nice too, but loading pages quickly is what i'm looking for. so far it seems no faster than PIE.
can i watch the good trailers?
In Order For Picsel To Work by itself... You Have To Do The "always Online" Hack
I downloaded vTap and loaded it onto the latest HTC Official WM 6.1 ROM and it closes when you press the play button to start a movie.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
try soft reset after installing...u might have to take the Vtap icon off ur home screen also since it puts it there automatically after install/reset...
i installed it a week ago, ive reset many times since then and removed the today icon right away. There just isn't enough room on the today screen for all this stuff!
Anyways, it just crashes when the video starts to play (I don't get to see any video, it crashes right away)

I know this is specifically for vtap, but you can use other, more reliable, methods to watching youtube or any kind of flash video.
vtap was just too much. Quality wasn't that good either compared to tcpmp.

is there any application that works like vTap? Those 2 links are websites. I like programs more then websites for my Pocket PC because of the screen size and overall speed of programs is just faster then websites.
EDIT: The avot mv thing is an app, but its REALLY choppy and it doesn't preserve the aspect ratio (it stretches the video to fit in the screen), but im guessing the choppiness is thanks to those GREAT drivers from HTC.

the avot mv is a program u download to ur device from tht site its similar to Vtap (i like vTap better tho) and the tcpmp player and bundle are also on the other link so u can go directly to youtube and play from there...ur choice...
I have used TCMP w/ flash plugin and i have vTAP on my kiaser right now and it works great... no issues at all. I like its simplicity of use.
When I use Vtap, the quality of the video is really poor.. is it suppose to be like that?
vtap resolution worthless IMO

Hello. I work for Veveo Inc. who provide the vTap service. We have just released a new version of the client which should greatly improve the video quality when playing Youtube, or Metacafe videos.
You can download the latest client by pointing you browser to www.vtap.com and downloading the client.
Here are some details of what is fixed in this release:
http://forum.vtap.com/index.php?topic=4.0
Once you install the client, you will want to enable the DirectPlay option under Tools/Options/Media
Inorder to enable the direct draw option, you will need to install some additional files on your phone. More detals about this can be found in our FAQ #15 - http://forum.vtap.com/index.php?topic=6.0
Please give this a try, and let me know if you see an improvement.
Thanks!
You could also try the new CorePlayer 1.2.1 which has a Youtube viewer in it.
Is there a thread somewhere with instructions on how to install and configure TCPMP with flash bundle? I have tried getting this working on my Tilt with no success.
I'm going to try out CorePlayer in the meantime. Thanks for the suggestion.
hey, so how do i use it? when i get to it it pops up real player. is there any free program to replace it? i tried tcpmp but that did not work.
thanks
also kinda funny how they have that but windows moble cant play it
try htc streaming media

This has nothing to do with the device or the operating system. It has to do with having the right application.
Use TCPMP with the flash plugins available. Works like a charm.
flashvideobundle only works for the main youtube site, not the mobile youtube site.
mobile version is horrible compared to the real youtube site, that flashbundle really helps plus gives additional working sites that currently work with streaming video and more sites will be added eventually as the project develops
ok, i had this problem wit mobile youtube and cingular video, it wouldnt play and some error messages....so i feel dumb sayin this but, while the video is trying to stream check the settings (options) cuz mine was set to run off "internet" so i changed it to "My media network" and BAM there u go
but wit real player----> first in windows, show all files and sort by NAME then find the file "realplayer" and open it...then just settings and options for sources can be changed
Question,
so is there any, i downladed opera from market place but it doesn't work..
INternet explorer doesn't open half of the sites i try to open....videos don't run other then youtube on the most of streaming videos sites
Internet Explorer 9 (the desktop version) with html 5 will come with Mango update soon, that sould help with those issues, dont understand why your not using either the HTC Youtube app or the Youtube's own for your flash video needs.

Soon? I don't know about that.
I like surf cube its a nice browser but it costs money and in mango everyone will probably switch to ie9 for hardware accelerated html5 and hopefully flash 10.1/2
Sent from my T8788 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I'm pretty sure Opera hasn't made a browser for WP7... So that opera links app isn't a browser. Another thing... Opera hasn't made a browser because, if I'm not mistaken, Microsoft doesn't allow other browsers on WP7, only browser shells, so the rendering engine is the same as IE Mobile, but the shells or "browser apps" in the marketplace just present it to you with a different UI. Mango, although not "soon" (an objectionable point of view) will be bringing that killer IE9 to WP7. At this point all we would "need" is flash and we'd have the best mobile browser. I honestly don't need flash on a mobile browser, ads piss me off and YouTube is viewable via app. What else is flash good at? games? Please just play on a real console or PC when your at home, and when your on the go, WP7 Xbox Live games are really cool... So in my point of view once IE9 comes out, with or without flash, its gonna kick ass.
