[PROJECT] Cook an Localized rom based on a WWE Rom

Hi Folks!
I'm surfing a lot on this forum, and what i need is some help by cooking a rom... based on another rom in another language..
for example.. we take the BLACKSTONE WM6.1 V09 (PV) - Build 20769.1.4.5 - pdaviet.net

And then, we try to cook a dutch version of it. (or another language ofcourse)
My Questions are:
1: Is it possible at all?
2: Is there a tutorial for doing this?
3: if there's not. Who has some experience with rom cooking, and would like to help me?

It can be done by replacing all the language packs (_0409) and by editing or replacing config/provxml files. Best place to discuss this is the cooking class thread.

1. Yes, you can do that.
2. If you can extract the rom (don't know if the rom is secrued,). But if it's not, you open OEM & SYS and change the (_0409) packages to (_040x) German
I suggest you have downloaded the orginal German rom for this!
3. . . . .
But good luck, (you could also just ask the single cook, to make a german rom for you? )

Great! thanks for your information!
i will try this, and let know if it works for me! Is it important to have take the OEM en SYS from the same rom version as the cook? or doesnt that any effect.

just remember to use a initflashfile that is either translated to your language or use one from official rom with your language (last is always prefered)

Like, I have a portuguese official rom version 1.14 and I want to change a wwe 1.19 official rom to portuguese. Is that possible?

Yeah, itje, i dont know realy what you mean.. but the question of jpmassena is also my question.... does it matter if i use different rom versions?

Well, I managed to do *something*.
Here's what I did:
1- With the kitchen I extracted both WWE 1.19 and PTG 1.14 roms;
2- Then I replaced all the content of OEM/PACKAGE_BlackStone_YouTube_HKCSL_WWE_0409 with the content of OEM/PACKAGE_BlackStone_YouTube_0816.
3- I replaced 0816 with 0409 in the file's names.
4- Cooked the rom and flashed it to my HD.
When the process stoped I had everything in english except the Youtube App
Everything in the youtube App was portuguese (except the video categories, don't know why). Now I'm reverting to the portuguese rom to see how the videos categories shows up. Maybe They were in english because the system wqas recognized as english.
BTW, I did this that way just to see if it was possible.. I will read a bit more to do it the proper way, without trying to "fool" the os with filenames...

Hmm i'm not quite sure,, but what is you rename your current directory:
OEM/PACKAGE_BlackStone_YouTube_HKCSL_WWE_0816
to
OEM/PACKAGE_BlackStone_YouTube_0816
i'm not quite sure... but you can give it a try.. and else,, replace the whole youtube app...by an english version

thanks , The problem is that my natal language is the Spanish, and the English i know a little bit,Already you verified it, lol, i have no idea that existed a pack of manila for Spanish and since,like I am cooking a rom i dont know if as package the results were applied, i have a package of the manila topaz but it gives me error when i having read messages and on having given click in icon music of the manila gives me a error of: "audiomanager_eng.exe" is not an application validates for poket PC, can you help me?

Then certain packages you tried to install were not installed correctly.

extracted language pack files doesn't work :(

I have been in the middle for some time now to cook a Danish Language Rom for my Xperia X1 using WM6.5.1 and Rhodium OEM.
Since we lost the ability to have regional language pack after Da_G was contact by a guy claiming to be a Microsoft Internet Investigator. We lost these files.
I found a WM6.5 Rhodium danish Rom (The official one) and ran extracted a got packages out of it.
Then I thought I got the language pack that I needed. But then I try to compile the rom with the language pack from the HTC rom (WM6.5 build 21xxx) inserted in the SYS folder I get the error "tahombda.ttf" already exists" This error accurs do to something happening in the Base_lang_0406 folder I took from the HTC rom. Don't know what it is cause the folders and their contens are identical.
Any idears? Why SYSTEM_DEFAULT_FRONTS from build 23071 can conflict with Base_lang_0406 from build 21xxx?

I know there's an issue with the danish language on some level, Itje has run in to it aswell with his multilanguage rom. I would ask him if i were you. Don't know much more, but I hope it helps

If I delete default fronts folder the rom build look like sh*t! But I will ask him thanks.

Extract chinese font and Imput method

Is is possible to extract the Chinese Font and input method from the Official HKCSL_WWE ROM? (CSL is a phone company in Hong Kong)
I am using the Offcial HKCSL_WWE ROM on my Pure now but I would like to use some nicely customize ROM find here.
The only only problem is I need Chinese. I wish I can put the Chinese font and input method to some cooked ROM.

From my experience with it so far, not really. The input has not been successfully installed on top of any of the existing cooked roms.
You will have to cook your own rom using HK CSL CHT input. I have not seen any of the cooked roms on here providing the CHT input.

i've been trying not less 100 time of flashing roms with most chinese font and input...i finally found that the Ricky's made "chinese font" solved my display problem on viewing chinese characters

These are the cabs I use to get Chinese display on my Topaz. Seems to work fine with the new manila. First, I install the font cab, then without rebooting, install the NLS cab. Then reboot. Sometimes it takes 2 reboots to get working, but so far so good. These cabs only provide support for viewing Chinese, not typing it. You'll need to find something else for that. There are several input methods floating around on xda if u look.

i use ricky 6.5 chinese cab too. [tho i edit the cab and put another font in it, cuz the one ricky had was bold and i didnt want bold ^^;]
heres the procedure i use everytime i flashed a custom [energy] rom::
1. install TF3D2.Chinese.Taiwan_20090917_xmatrix.cab [by xkaiser] to convert most words to chinese. no need to reboot after install. n u will notice most things r displayed as squares now [install this if you want your manila to display in chinese, proceed to #2 if installed, if not installed, no need to do step 2]
2. IMPORTANT copy the files in smsfix.zip to \Windows root folder [this is because the language pack deleted the sms notification files, so if you dont add these files back, you will not receive any sound or vibrate when a new message comes in]
3. install RickyMSYH6.0Full__.cab follow the installation and soft reset when it asks to reset
4. install HTC Rhodium A4 IME V2.8 WVGA.cab [this is a chinese input that im currently using, it was designed for a touchpro2, so the keyboard is pretty much alike as the one we are using. tho... this one doesnt have handwritten input :[ ] this software is in simplifed chinese, but it works fine with typing traditional and hong kong characters
i dont know if installing these cabs will have any side affects though, i have no problem with it. been using them for awhile now, and they work with all the energy roms ive flashed [including the latest topaz 2011 build]

Thank you both. I wonder if the file(s) provided will work on the latest/newest Sense 2.5 (Manila 2.5.2011.30300) with Leo 2.54? Because the Ricky's MSYahei6 no longer work. In the meantime I do not need chinese input, only need the chinese display/support.

im using that same latest Manila [energy rom feb 1st release]
and the cab i provided in the post works for me..
dont know if it will work with Leo 2.54 tho. you can try. it works on my Topaz :]

What everyone is saying is that even if you successfully extract the files, you couldn't install them into a cooked ROM. You would need to create your own ROM and add the chinese input when you cook it. I have tried some cabs in XDA that claim to let you use the htc chinese input and fonts, but they never worked for me. In fact they totally screwed up my phone and I had to hard reset.
That being said, you could (potentially) dump the rom you are using, then import it into a kitchen and cook your own custom ROM. There are lots of cooking tutorials on this site if you look around, but be prepared to invest considerable time and energy into the learning process. And to be honest, I think the other viewing and input methods listed in this thread are superior.
Just my 2 cents.

The display problem is very easy to fix. There are many fonts out there that work on Manila. If that's what is being looked for, I think some solutions have already been posted in this thread.
However, if you're trying to get the original HK CSL HTC CHT IME installed, then I am not aware of any solutions yet.

I have successfully installed this Chinese IME (official ezinput) on the NhatHoa ROM using 23529 and manila 2011 3030. I did first install Chinese fonts and a NLS cab... (u can look for my post earlier in the thread.)
Seems to be working fine so far. Better backup before you try it though. I have heard it cant be uninstalled very easily.

thanks for the heads up. now, after the install into a WWE ROM, will one still be able to input Chinese or English by switching the keyboard/input method or something?

i love the official chinese keyboard interface and this is what i've been looking for since i started to flash english cooked rom!!!

Actually can use both English and Chinese directly with a keyboard button and also by changing sip... working great so far. Also both English and Chinese dictionaries seem to be working ok.

If you dont need the iGO8 shortcut you can remove that from \Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder. This shortcut links to \Storage Card\iGO8\iGO8.exe

Please describe some of ROM info. Such as... what in, what out, what panel.

after a while a globe icon notification popped up to auto setup the cellular network. built in to WM6.5 i think

LOL! i got SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO confused!!!!!! i flashed ur rom and then saw my welcomehead192.png appear i was like WTF?! where did THAT come from?! it was supposed to be all gone wtf? wtf??!?!?!
then it occurred to me, u incorporated it into your rom lol
i feel flattered
though the credit for the diamonds/ice pieces doesnt go to me heheh
amazing 38 seconds to boot from vibrate! very fast rom install and no locked UC installation after flashing!!

Sorry, i just used the google's image searcher, i didnt know it yours Anyway its really awesome so thanks for this i hope it isnt a problem if i use this. If its a problem i take down the download link and remove that from my rom. You know i also upload all of my resources (like here) and that isnt a problem if someone use them. It make only good feelings Sorry about this.

Use the CommManager for 3G, i never use that, so its disabled by default.

Can you upload in other links too as the above mentioned links are banned in our country..
post it in ...Hotfile / 4shared / rapidshare...

I think your ROM is really nice, but with other ROMS the 3G part is done automaticly with all other ROMS I ever used and this is really needed for I think almost all users.
If you can add this, this ROM could be the best ever.
Might also be better to use Opera 10, this is the fastest browser I know atm.
But I really want to say this ROM has a lot of potential!

No 3G settings I assume.

Thanks for the feedback, in my next version the opera browser will be included. I think i will make a .cab setup file for connection setup.

I really like you ROM! It's incredible fast. Only one small minor. In the weather tab the days are not in English, can I change that myself?

I like the ROM coz it's simple customizable but the weather cannot be updated. Internet explorer is also not going anywhere.

Just change the Regional Settings (Start menu - Settings - System)

I just update the weather through activesync and wifi and here its working.
IE will be replaced with Opera.
I hope i can upload my new release today. I've remade my kitchen, the rom contains more optimizations, Opera will be included, WMP skin will be changed (thats buggy what we have now) and some more
