My brother has an HTC Fuze running the stock WM 6.1 firmware. It comes with Opera Mobile 9.5 Build 2392 installed to \Windows.
I've tried installing the latest official build (15894) to \Program Files and to \Storage Card\Program Files.
However, unless I directly navigate to \Program Files\Opera 9.5 Beta\ and launch Opera9.exe, it launches the old build in \Windows.
So if I have a shortcut in \Windows\Start Menu\ that points to \Program Files\Opera 9.5 Beta\Opera9.exe and launch it, it is somehow intercepted and redirected to \Windows\Opera9.exe and the old build is launched.
I've tried renaming \Windows\Opera9.exe to Opera9.exe.bak but it is still launched as an executable!! I've tried renaming \Program Files\Opera 9.5\Beta\Opera9.exe to Opera92.exe, but then it won't launch.
How can I eradicate the original build of Opera included in the ROM?
You need to uninstall all opera versions on your phone now thru "Remove Programs"; then manually delete all opera folders in Windows, and Application Data; Delete opera related Shortcuts from Windows/Startups and Windows/Start Menu; next go take opera out of the registry with a registry editor; Soft Reset your phone; Reinstall whatever version you desire.

think I read about a fix for this problem somewhere, but can't find it. Any help?
install it to your device. after that go to /programme or how your program directory is named. take the opera directory to /program files/
the correct directory name should be:
/Program Files/Opera/
its only the shortcut link which leads to the wrong directory
I followed the instructions, moved the opera-folder to a newbuildt folder 'program files' but the problem persist. I'm able to launch the .exe-file from the filemanager. Opera has announced a new build shortly, so I will wait for that.
Then create a new link to "OperaLaunchWM.exe" in the Start menu to be able to start Opera. Thats it.
I have installed a version of Opera that came in a CAB file, the problem is I want to remove it but it dose not appear in the Add/Remove programs list, I can see the folder under /windows, how do i go about removing it completely including the start menu shortcuts ect without just deleting it
any help appreciated
cheers
Andy
easiest way would be to delete the opera folder plus any shortcuts tbh
Hi,
sorry for disturbing, I try to use phm registry editor on my diamond, but it didn't install, after some tries I try to install strng version but it didn't work fine. would you please help me
The workaround is to download the appropriate CAB for your device CPU type from the PHM.lu Download Center. If you’re using Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6 (WM5 or WM6), select the Pocket PC 2000,2003 (ARM/PXA) option and download the regedit.Mrln_ARM CAB file. If you have installed the Desktop Installer version, you can grab the CAB file from the installed folder in “Program Files” too. Then copy the regedit.Mrln_ARM.CAB file to the PPC/Windows Mobile device via ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center or Windows Explorer, and put the CAB file at anywhere including storage card. Launch File Explorer, and click on the CAB file with stylus, and then follow the instruction on screen to install the FHM Registry Editor. Note that you should answer Yes to security warning, and you can install it on either device itself or on memory card. After installed, sers can access and run PHM Registry Editor from Start -> Programs.
Hi there,
I was about to install some tings on my htc diamond, but when i try to run the .xml from my htc, somehow it wants to open with Opera, and keeps opening the program, how do i change that, and what should i open with instead ?
Regards
.xml
.xml files will always be opened with the default web browser on your device (which is Opera on the Diamond)... unless you've changed the default browser settings.
If you're wanting to edit the file you're talking about, you can do that in any text editor. With regards to 'running' an .xml, that's what your web browser does.
sounds like you have extracted the .cab file
dont. just copy the .cab to your diamond, and run it from the diamond.
a .cab file is a self installing file (like you can do with .zip on a PC)
hi!
I have an htc diamond .. and I can not put the flash to work .. In the explorer and opera always asks to install flash, I installed and does not work ..
I have the latest version of the opera .. has already installed the flash lite and still not working.
someone can help me?
i have tried also to get flash working on browsers too. So many times without luck that i have stopped trying, so if someone can tell how to really get it work im too very pleased.
Similar to voip calls in winmo, newer works.
To get Flash working directly in Opera Mobile 9.5, you need to edit opera.ini (and opera1.ini, just in case ), the Flash DLL plugin and a Flash patcher for another ini file!
Search, locate and copy the mentioned opera.ini and opera1.ini to your Desktop and add these line in the [User Prefs] section:
Code:
NS Plugin Path=\Windows\Opera9\plugins\NPFL3ppc.dll
Create a folder "plugins" in your Opera9 directory and copy the "NPFL3ppc.dll" to this location! If you have another path than "\Windows\Opera9", edit it accordingly in both ini files! Now run "fixOperaFlashPlayer.exe" in your Opera9 folder after you have installed Flash Lite 3.1 (in most ROMs this is integrated by the Cooker, so there's no need to install it through a CAB file )! This little app modifies another ini file to use Flash! Now restart your device, go to Opera settings an enable "Plugins" if it's not allready activated! Now you're be able to watch Flash file directly in Opera Mobile 9.5, just test it out with Youtube!

btw, I can extend this tool to complete all ini changes you need here, just PM me with more details

Cant get plugins enabled in opera? checkbox is cleared after i have put it on and look settings again?
Have you copied both modified ini files back into Opera9 directory, added the DLL into that path (Opera9\plugins) correctly, made a softreset and tried to enable the Plugin option in Opera settings directly?
