Hello,
i've tried everything (soft-reset, hard-reset, romupdate, HTC GPS Tool), but it won't work for me...
My Rom: 1.93.207.2
Date: 08.12.08
Radio: 1.00.25.05
Original o2 (german provider) Firmware rom.
Google Maps doesn't find GPS, TomTom doesn't find GPS, nothing finds gps...
Would be great if you could help me.
MrMex
PS: htc gps tool doesn't find any satellit
Have you tried tag the battery out for 10 mins. Worked for me when i had this problem.
Had same problem. Batteries out for a while, and then installing and running GPSTest.
Leave your Touch diamond ouside for a very long while (over 30 minutes or so) and in my case its running again

Hello
I am new to this forum, so sorry if i posted this thread in the wrong place.
I have a htc tytn 2 locked to orange, and i was trying to install tomtom6 when i realised that i need to update the rom to do that.
could you plzz let me know how i can install tomtom or update the rom as the main reason i got the fone was to use the gps on it.
Also if it is possible to unlock the fone then plzz let me know.
thank you
why upgrading ? I have tomtom on my kaiser and it works
which rom do you have ?
ce os 5.2.1620 (build 18125.0.4.2)
rom version: 1.81.61.2 wwe
You don't need to update the rom
I'm on orange uk and took the card (with tomtom installed) straight from my tytn into the tytn 2 and worked straight off... well after I told it to use the internal gps
tomtom version = 6.0.32
rom is out the box orange uk rom
I guess that what he is trying to do is to install the TomTom software that came with other Tytn2 devices. Orange UK took that software off the CD and and I think that they adjuested the ROM so that the TYTN2 TOMTOM software refuses to be installed. I tried installing the TOMTOM TYTN2 version but it gives an error message... however.. my TOMTOM 6 from TYTN is working fine with builtin GPS!
Ciao
i too have a out the box orange uk rom running tomtom 6023,no problems at all
the orange rom i have is :1.81.61.2 WWE
rom date : 09/20/07
I also have Orange TyTn II, running TomTom 6.0.3.0
With the internal GPS, I find it takes quite a while to get a signal lock. I reckon it's a pretty low power device internally, and it suffers from problems in built up areas. Even with QUickGPS, it takes a good minute to lock on at the best of times.
I also have a Qstar 180 bluetooth GPS, based on a SIRF3 generation chipset. This is much better than the internal and generally I use this one
Also don't under any circumstances even open the External GPS application. Even opening this stopped by GPS working. Insane, so hopefully a fix will come out soon
Hello,
I installed Windows 6.1 on my HTC today (The official rom from HTC Club), and i realised GPS was not working ... neither on googlemap or tomtom, it is waiting signal, but not finding satellites.
Does anyone know where i could find windows 6.0 HTC rom, or is there a fix? (Searched on forum, found somepost with people having the same problem, but didn't find any solutions ...).
Rom is 1.65.16.25 (Official HTC Rom)
Tried this, but it doesn't seems to work (And value is back to -- after phone reset.
Tried GPSTest, and it got stuck at "GPS starting up".
thanks in advance.
I'm no expert, but sometimes it's the radio that causes the problem. Try 1.65.16.25, it works fine to me
Well, my rom is 1.65.16.25
It will work if you give it long enough!!!! The problem lies with the quickgps data that for some reason is not being used to get a quick fix. Read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397728
How long did you allow you phone to receive the signal? Once I had to wait for 10 min plus to get a lock after a rom upgrade.
I am sure you we not moving while trying to get a lock?
Did you do a hard reset after the rom upgrade?
MODS can we close or merge this thread as it is a duplicate to what has recently been discussed here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397728
It works but you have to wait..... took me around 20+ mins to get fixed which equals useless....
also the battery life is sh*t... the new radio is soooo poor
hey there...
i have a problem with my GPS in my diamond
i installed the SWIFTBL WWE DIAMOND ROM V4.0 - CE OS 5.2.19965 (BUILD 19965.1.2.3) ROM
but now my tomtom cant find any GPS signal and niether can HTC GPS TOOL..
Am i doing anything wrong or is it a problem with the ROM i Upgraded from a Danish ROM
Thanks in advance

Did you do a hard reset AFTER flashing?
yep, it happened to me also, an hard reset should resolve, in any case I suggest you to install the utility "GPSTest" (google to find it).
that program is useful because it is able to "renew" the gps status, after installation just launch it (outside of course) and let the program to automatically check your GPS status (1st time it can take 2 or more minutes), when you see at least 3 sat aligned simply close the program, shutdown the phone (NOT soft reset) and then after reboot launch tomtom and you'll see that it will recognize again the gps module.
bye,
davide
i dont think it is fault that you did not do a hard reset after flashing your rom, neither did i.
You should run the htc gps tool with cold start for a while (3-4 mins minimum), then ur TT can find gps.

The same story here, except that I used GoogleMap. It took a long time for GPS to get a fix and when it did, it found only a few satellites. The reception was also poor with a lot of lagging. And yes, I forgot to make a hardreset after flashing.
I just installed http://www.efficasoft.com/gpsutilities/index_wm_ppc.html and this program got an immediate fix to 12 satellites. I then rebooted and noticed that also GoogleMap was OK now. Why? Someone else may explain.
Untick "Auto search Bluetooth GPS receiver"
Set "COM Port" to COM4.
Set "Baud Rate" to 4800.
hello everybody
im having a very wiered problem since today, i have flashed the new 1.93 NLD stock rom, and the gps decided not to work anymore, i did everything possible, hardresetting, reflashing the rom, but nothing helped, i also installed this HTC tool, and let it running for a while, nothing changed, i deiced to leave google maps runnign for a while, it turned a message saying that my GPS device is having torubles finding a GPS signal.
does that sound familiar to anybody,,, actually what makes it wierede, the programs can see the GPS chip, i mean in tomtom and google maps, but only the device, no signal.
Best regards
Kevin
Always remember to do a hard-reset after installing a new rom.
- I have tried several times that my gps were "stuck". My sollution is the Htc Gps tool (Find it here: http://maritime-billeder.dk/htc-diamond.html). With that you can choose to do a warm or a cold start. This gives the gps chip a kick, and almost always fixes the problem.
Greetings
Benjamin

This may sound stupid but make sure that you are not at a window but outside.
Some extended batteries cause GPS problems
I dont have any extended battery...The first 3 Month after buy this phone, gps was going, after 3 month i dont have any signal, then QuickGPS cant download the updates and than i updatete the ROM from O2. Now i can updated QuickGPS but the same problem with the GPS signal.
ok, so this may be a lame question and probably depends on a lot of variables but can anyone suggest a good radio for use in the uk??
is there such a thing, i've tried lots and so far seem to like a few but i still can't get the bl**dy GPS to work properly
i get a loke in about 10 mins if lucky.
i've used poldo's rom and ngy's and pda ultimate, and for my purposes poldo's seems the quickest and most stable to me.
any help would be appreciated.

Using Radio in sig, lock about 2-3 mins, using mcguider "to which isn't the greatest sat nav prog"
yeah thanks for that. used that for a while, made my rom fast but gps lock was poor.
what do you think of the emo radio?
cheers mate
UK Radio version
I have dutty's 6.1 final with radio version 1.58.25.14. I am on T-Mobile and all is fine with my Kaiser. All this software was from the Kaiser software section on XDA.
Hope this helps

Haven't used emo as have used the radio mentioned with no issue on every ROM i flash and even 3 carriers.
Do you use quickgps and have you tryed running GPSTest as you will find fix faster, also will always take longer for fix off cold boot.
I used to live in Solihull area of Birmingham and use 1.71.09.01 radio with 3G switched on (HSDPA off) and I could leave it with data connected all day and sync my mail every 15 minutes and at the end of the day after a few short calls I would still have 40 - 50% left.
I have just moved to South Wales (valleys area) and the same setup down there my battery is on 0% by 4pm. So I have had to kill 3G and set mail to manually refresh to get through the day.
fixed it
gps test installed and a new radio 1.65.16.25
get a gps fix in about 10secs.
i come from south wales, lived near the vally's in bedwas. now live and work in greenwich london.
small world.
thanks for everyones input.

Glad you got this resolved but I used that Radio with the 'initial' UK HTC official WM 6.1 ROM update and it well and truely broke my GPS (compared to the WM 6.0 setup in my sig I'm back to using). I have no need to use gps test or any programs other that Tomtom Navigator 6.032 so I strongly suspect your results have more to do with GPS Test or the ROM, than that particular radio.
