Opera Mobile 9.5 on the Diamond has a feature that fits the length of the sentence to fit the screen's width, when you zoom in.
The problem is that this feature doesn't always work for me, and I don't know what is the reason sometimes it work and other times not.
For example, one time I search in Google and the results fit the screen excellently (no matter how much zoom I use). And on a different occasion doing the *same* google search exactly, produces results that do not fit the screen.
Is it possible that the auto fit feature is not activated before the page has been completely loaded, and sometime it doesn't load completely ?
I have the same issue

I would really like to control this feature
hope someone can do it
thanks
I like my HTC Touch Diamond very much, but in daily internet browsing I face these two annoyances and hopefully more of you experience the same.
1. Despite that Opera's main windows does excellent smooth scrolling/sliding, I find the bookmark window to be underwhelmingly useless. Compare its usability with the TouchFLO 3D internet tab where the bookmarks are also displayed.
In Opera, you get:
- a small font
- tiny icons
- no URL display (enough room for that!)
- extremely bad scrolling behaviour
What is Opera doing wrong here?
2. Another matter for me is the "Full QWERTY keyboard". For me, typing goes fastest in this one, except for the leftmost keys/letters. I *always* miss the 'a' and end up typing an 's' instead. They should have made some extra space around these buttons! The keyboard also uses up a lot of screen space and often covers the textbox I am editing. Why was it not made transparent?
Anyone that knows a hack to circumvent one or more of these issues?
Ditto here; Opera's bookmark organisation and usage is rubbish... is there any way to get a tiered folder system or mode like Firefox or IE? Bizarre that something so simple can let down an otherwise great browser.
Kind of agree about the keyboard, a's were a problem for me at first, but I've now mastered the art of getting them, and am almost at 100% with them now. Keyboard covering the screen too is a pain, but I'm learning to live with that one... reckon it will be a tough nut to crack.
In opera browser the screen rotates very rarely or at all , I mean is not very responsive ( the G sensor ) ... but in Pictures instantly when I rotate the phone so is the picture... what do you guys think?
i got the same problem...
any1 got a clue what could be/ how to solve this?
another one reports here,
same problem, works great in Pictures, but in opera it is as slow as hell....
Had similar problem today, which led me to recalibration of Gsensor. After that i ran the Opera browser, and screen rotated much faster than before. Hope it helps...
Edit: noticed that screen rotation response is also better and faster in Photos/Album too...
done that still no joy
At the beginning I wait until the page is loaded and then rotate. It is not so responsive in the middle of the page loading process...i can live with that...
Did you guyzz try the latest Opera version?
everytime i rotate the phone... opera rotates and the phone goes back to home screen... i have to go back into opera via task manager, and its back on portrait again...
I'm having this problem too, and it's bugging the hell out of me. I've calibrated the g-sensor, but it's still not working very well. I have Opera 1938 and SwiftBL V6.0 ROM. I don't use GSEN.
To make rotation work somewhat, I have to "snap" the Diamond from straight portrait to straight landscape. I can't have it slightly tilted away from me, like I would if I had it in my lap or on a table. However, with the Diamonds image browser it works fine, which makes me think that the problem lies within Opera.
I've tried using the tweak setting long-press home button to manually rotate screen, but this kicks me out of Opera and into TF3D. In SMS it works fine, though.
Teeter works great though, and that again makes me think that it's mostly a bad integration/calibration of the g-sensor in Opera that's the problem, eg. not very calibrated tresholds for rotation.
So we have to wait for a proper version of Opera.
the rendering of a webpage is very cpu intensive action, everything has to be recomputed for small display. if you change resolution (ie. rotate diamond) in the middle of the loading the page, it's bit too much for little diamond. just wait till the loading of the page finishes, and then rotating works ok. it can't be much better...
This is happening to me too (Telus version) but it only recently started happening. As soon as I rotate the screen - whether the page is fully loaded or not - it brings me to the Phone screen. I've accidently called people a couple times due to this so it's a bit frustrating.
I'm going to try hard resetting my phone and then slowly install applications and tweaks to see if I can figure out what's causing it.
I have this issue as well...I think Opera ios just trying to do too much....loading a page and rotn at the same time. After a while it seems to work better....I still think they have a long way to go to make this programe bug free and reliable

Same thing happens to me, on the same ROM.
Did you get any result doing this? I have the Telus ROM too and this is very annoying.
I have tried using GSen with the rom before, but uninstalled it. No change.
The only thing I suspect may interfere could be that I mapped a Long Key Press for screen rotation in apps like Inbox. I will try unmapping and post the results here.
I don't know how TouchFlo is integrated to the OS, but I wonder if manually changing the orientation of the screen somehow affects other components that could become "out of sync" with the current orientation... Could it be related to the version of one component? Looks like GSen does not work properly with Telus ROMS.
at least your opera get to go lanscape. When mine try to do landscape, it somehow open up the phone dialer and i get kicked out of Opera. Anyone know what this happens? Keeping it in portrait mode is fine, but the second i rotate it, it halts the program and open up phone dialer for no apparent reason!!

lude I was havving that problem too. I made a reg edit that helped with the phone dialer popping up on the touch and it seems to have helped me
i think it s HKLM>SOFTWARE>MICROSOFT>SHELL
I then set ShowTitleBarClock to 2
hope that helps

It works!.....but then it covers up my battery meter
I'm not sure what would show the battery icon....I use ariel battery metter
...same problem here...
(Telus)
Same as mine.
Rotation speed in Opera seems not real working when the phone rotated for vertical / horizontal orientation. I am wondering memory size whether it can support changes in high resolution display.
See whether it has upgrade version to speed up the function.
Hey guys, is there a way to disable the landscape view in opera? because my g sensor's broken. It just flips the screen 20 times before settling down normally.
Some registry key to edit or something?
BBye now
I remember reading about a way, in at least 2 places, but I cannot find it now and I'd quite like to know too.
It involves changing the Opera g-sensor configuration to a much longer polling interval - so much longer that it never activates. Setting it to zero might have the same effect.

and you know which registry its in? or is it a function in the config of opera?
Thanks in advance
I'm currently running the Opera browser on the stock AT&T Rom. It's not bad but have two issues:
1) I have the screen set to 'mobile view' to make it conform more to the street. When it toggles between landscape and portrait (deliberately or accidentally via gyro) what I end up with when it comes back to portrait is a full size view with a very minimized column in the middle almost as if it fully unzoomed from the mobile view. Of course at this point it won't rezoom so the only thing to do is reload the page.
2) Mobile view sometimes starts off to the side completely blank screen and I need to scroll all the way over to the where the page is formatted.
I did some web searches and I don't see anyone else reporting these odd bugs so if there's something I can do let me know. Otherwise, if someone can tell me how to select a different default browser that would be great (never had to do it before).
Thanks in advance for any insight.
Well given 88 views maybe I should ask this a different way...
Is anyone else experiencing any of the above issues or is it just me?
Opera tears alot if browsing a page with heavy flash and enabled. If this is not the case, then try a hard reset, and see if that fix your problem. Maybe a software conflict somewhere!
