After upgrading to ROM 2.03 I can't use messaging with my msn email account.
With 1.93 was easy. Now after I set a new account, write my email and password it says "Found settings for msn.com" but it opens Opera at mobile.live.com.
Anyone use an email msn account in messaging ?

Hi jibilau!
I'm not sure if you can add a hotmail account onto messaging.....
I've downloaded Windows live Messenger for my diamond and have this app synchronize my hotmail account...
after that it should pop up at your email accounts
Good luck
When you try to set up an account and it goes to opera and opens mobile.live.com it means that you already have an account set up on the phone. Thats what happened when I tried to add more than 1 hotmail account.
Check if you have another hotmail account registered in your mail application. Hotmail means hotmail.com, live.com, live.ca..... any domain belonging to hotmail. hope this helps.

Is there an e-mail application that has an option to leave the e-mail to the server? I mean not to delete them? Like Outlook Express has as an option?
Use an IMAP server - this leaves the messages on there unless you delete them and then synchronise on your device.
Also, you can leave them on the server whilst using the Pop3 protocol - it should be something like "delete messages immediately" - make sure this isnt ticked and it should work.
the mail account I have is just POP3... There is not such an option...
Anything else I could try?
Are you serious? The standard email application doesn't have an option to leave email on the server for POP3?
The inbox for Pop3 does not delete messages. It defaults to leaving it on the server. Unless of course you delete it and resync.
nPop
Why don't you try nPop (http://www.nakka.com/soft/npop/index_eng.html)
Theres is a version for Windows and a version for Pocket PC
To tell the truth I haven't set up an e-mail account yet because I have a problem with the sim card.. But since there was no option about leaving messages on server I assumed it didn't!!! So, am I wrong?
No problem
If you are using Pocket PC Outlook (Inbox), you don't have any problem: it does not retrieve the messages from the server anyway.
Try WebIS Mail - I've used it for months now and find it really good. As an additional bonus, it's available free right now from Handango:

Thnak you all for your answers... I am OK with the e-mals, since it doesn't delete them from the server!!!
Is it possible to sync the contacts on a certain address book folder of the PC?
Sync POP desktop Mail box with PPC POP mailbox
Hi all
I feel that I am missing someting when it comes to the revolution of portable mail.
I have a desktop with outlook that picks up / Sends mail over pop.
I have a MDAIII with pocket outlook that picks up mail / send over pop.
I have activesync that puts my desktop mail on my MDAIII in pocket outlook.
now all this is fine since I can send and recive from both devices.
The porblem arises for me in the concept,
When at home I do my mail, then go out and check my mail over MDA then I reply to a mail and send.
If I do this over the activesync account it stays in the outbox untill I sync which is logical.
If I do it over the pop account it sends it.
What I would like to find is a mail program that lets me sync my mail "Sent items" from my MDA with my desktop.
In short how can I sync my MDA pop acount with a local outlook PST file to incure that I can send / Recive and have my sent items uptodate on both the desktop and MDA?
PS: I am a privat user thus dont have a exchange server.
is there a software which checks emails via HTTP.....caz i wanna use a software which can download emails from my hotmail account on ma pda ...........ne ideas guys ????
thnx in advnc

My understanding of Hotmail is that it is a web based mail system. I think (but am not sure) that you can upgrade for a fee to pop which allows you to download your mail to a e-mail client such as outlook. This would then work with the built in e-mail client on your PDA after you set up your pop account.
Mail itself can be sent in HTTP or plain text.

from my 8125 to my Treo 750, I was able to setup hotmail in the mail/outlook client.. now when i set it up the only way i can check the mail is on the web.. it makes it hard to do email offline. ideas. is there a program that i need to download
You might try setting up your account as [email protected] instead. Microsoft has converted most hotmail accounts over to livemail.

that does not work, it still asks me for pop3 or IMAP info..
in the sticky at the top of this page there is a list of cab files. download and install the cab file for windows live. this will allow you to sync your email into the default messaging program for offline reading. if you have unlimited data, you also have the option of getting your mail blackberry style and have it pushed down to your tilt.
Hi guys I have an htc diamond no brand and i am getting crazy with the setup of the mail. i mean the account email from the tf3d tab. every time i try to set it up (i have an hotmail free account) i cannot complete the configuration because opera starts up and i go to the webpage of hotmail. If i close opera, no account have been created so i have to start from the beginning again. i cannot save the account, i am able to fill in only the page when it asks the email and the password, nothing more!!! what's up??(((

i tried to set up an outlook account and it works, it is saved but i can't do it with hotmail... why??
Err... the FREE Hotmail doesn't support pop3...
does it?
You can set it up with outlook and it SHOULD work with Windows Live.
Hmm, I've set up my Hotmail account twice without problems as far as I can remember. Entered my email address and password, tapped Next and it was recognized as such by the set up software. Maybe having Windows Live Mobile installed has something to do with it? You can try if that helps if you want. Here you can find the cab file, courtesy of my custom ROM dealer
When it opens up opera it goes to the windows live login page. Just press log on or whatever it says and enter your info. should work since I've done it several times..
it starts opera to windows live page and then i clic on hotmail but i only cann see the mails from the webpage and no account is created. every time i have to do the same thing...

Hi there. I had the same problem as you. But I solved it.
When I first got my phone I configured it so hotmail would turn up in my inbox, without opera or any browser, but since I installed the latest ROM I couldn't get it to work - when I tried to configure hotmail as my email it wouldn't save my account - just open up Opera.
But I now know how to do it. You can't set hotmail as your email directly, you need to configure Messenger to do it. WHen you do that, you are asked if you want to use Live (something) as well as Live Search. I removed Live search but kept the first one. Then I was asked if I wanted my email and contacts to be synchronized and I klicked Ok. Now when I click on my emailtab I have my hotmail emails there!
/S
Thanks for the advice. Work fine for me.
I have been trying to setup my two hotmail email accounts on my X1. It don't seem to be happening, am, I to conclude that it cant be done?
I tried too...don't think it's possible. I just have one account forwarding email to the other. This way I get push email on both live accounts.
EDIT: There is also an option in Windows Live (online) that lets you link other email accounts to your Live account.
cant you configure one account with live messenger and the other with a normal pop3 settings?
dont you need mail server information to set up pop3 ?
@Whybe: my accounts are linked but I would have to go online to check the mail everytime
Hello guys I am a hotmail user but now i have decided to switch my email client to Gmail as it has more features than hotmail and also because I am switching my blogging career to freelancing. Enabled pop3, then add the hotmail account to Gmail, it will download the messages. Alternatively add to a local email client and download all of the messages from hotmail.
Thanks for your suggestion but now I'm using a trial version of an offline Mail Backup X tool to backup my hotmail mails
