I have been trying to setup my two hotmail email accounts on my X1. It don't seem to be happening, am, I to conclude that it cant be done?
I tried too...don't think it's possible. I just have one account forwarding email to the other. This way I get push email on both live accounts.
EDIT: There is also an option in Windows Live (online) that lets you link other email accounts to your Live account.
cant you configure one account with live messenger and the other with a normal pop3 settings?
dont you need mail server information to set up pop3 ?
@Whybe: my accounts are linked but I would have to go online to check the mail everytime

Hi,
I have never had push mail facilities before. Can anyone confirm whether it is possible to get notification from a yahoo email account? I do not have an email plus account.
I have tried to configure my T-mobile MDA Vario III to do this but it does not recognise either my user name or password when prompted. Am I just trying the impossible, I ask as I read somewhere that it can not configure hotmail accounts and Yahoo is obviously a web email account.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
This should answer all your questions.
I don't know if you can setup true 'push' email from Yahoo, but what you can do is go to the main email screen, tap 'New Email Account', type in your Yahoo email address, and just follow the prompts. You can set it up to automatically pick up your email every 5 minutes, 10 minutes, whatever you want. Hope that helps.

Check the link in my post above yours. That properly answers his question.
As TB says, Yahoo GO is the push solution - but it doesnt interact properly with the devices messaging client - so if you dont like the yahoo go app (I hate it), then do what RW said (but make sure you have the account enabled for pop (which you set up easily in the yahoo webmail client).
If you can forward your incoming yahoo mail to another account, you could use a Exchange Push Mail solution like the one I offer to push your yahoo mail to your device.
Yahoo Mail supports IMAP. Not true Push IMAP, but it is pretty close. You can simply set it up to sync your inbox often, if you can afford the data charges.
I successfully setup Windows live to receive emails from my hotmail account. Does anyone know if it is possible to setup two Windows live accounts on the phone? (two different hotmail accounts)
When I first setup Windows Live the process started when I installed the cab file but now that it's setup I can't find a way to setup a second email account. I've tried "New Email Account" but when I "try to get the email settings automatically from the internet" it takes me to http://mobile.live.com which is not where I want to go. When I try to set it up manually it asks for "Incoming mail server//Pop/IMAP which it doesn't need because it's hotmail.
Anyone have any ideas?
having the same problem did you ever figure it out?
It is not possible to sync two Hotmail accounts to your device at the same time using Windows Live.
In order to sync a second Hotmail account you need to select switch user from the Account Options menu. this will remove all of the first Hotmail account's emails and contacts in the process.
You basically have two options:
1) Pay for Hotmail Plus $19.99/yr on one account. This allows you to setup POP3 access to your email.
2) Link your Live IDs together. This is a new feature with Live IDs that allows you to receive emails from multiple Hotmail/Live mail accounts all in one inbox. Go to accounts.live.com to acces your settings. Try searching "link live id" at www.liveside.com for more specific instructions.
hope that helps.
3rd option/workaround, use Windows Live app as your primary account (for contacts etc), login in PIE as your secondary account on mobile.live.com, and it will stay logged in, so you can access your secondary inbox and messenger.
my hotmail acc is setup to use plus.
i would like to use the pop3 / smtp settings to pull / receive email.
Is it possible to setup a hotmail account using the pop3 / smtp settings you get with plus? As soon as I create a new email acc and add in my hotmail credentials it auto directs me to the live browser page and asks me to log in.
I would like my hotmail to work seamlessly like gmail does.
Apologies if this question has been asked before. I have had a good look around the place.
I had the same problem, I downloaded the cab located in this thread to install Windows Live. Follow the instructions for setting up Hotmail, don't remember exactly but it was easy to figure out.
After that my Hotmail was available in Outlook, and if you set "Sync Frequency" to "As Items Arrive" under the "Sync Schedule" option, you get Microsoft's version of Push email.
seems to have done the trick. Many thanks for the advice.
I have 3 different accounts set up on live and hotmail. I would like the emails from all of these to be accessible on my Xperia. Sadly every time I try to add the second one the phone does nothing.
I have tried two different ROMs neither of which changed the result.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks.
I'm not a hotmail/live user but i think that the phone wants to associate your live account with windows live. and you can only ad on windows live account. what you cold do is forward the mails to on account. i have 4 email account and i have them forwarded to an gmail account so i only have to ad on account for everything.
like i sayd i'm not an live user so i don't know if there is something you can do i never had this isseu.
ive got 2 hotmail accounts working on mine
Do you have live messenger installed on your phone? as a program not a panel.
You can do it, but you'll get push mail only for ONE account. This is how it works: Set up a new e-mail account, enter a fake e-mail address. The domain-part is important (The thing after @). DO NOT WRITE HOTMAIL OR MSN OR LIVE THERE! Enter correct PW for your e-mail. Then choose POP3 Servers. Servers are: pop3.live.com and smtp.live.com. Make sure you check ALL checkboxes you can, also in advanced, enable SSL, outgoing mails authentication etc. When you're done, EDIT the account you just created and put in the correct e-mail address. Now you can use it
Sweet. Thanks a million.
thats how i got mine to work
but i cant get push email to work how do you set that up?
i currently have a the mlign hero rom and i dont know if the email on that rom is actually push since it takes about 5mins is there any email app that sends the email to the phone as soon as somebody sends it i know gmail does but i dont like to use gmail.
anyone know
Try K9 Mail. It supports the IMAP Idle extension, assuming you can connect to an IMAP server.
What kind of email account is it?
its a hotmail account
I don't believe Hotmail supports IMAP.
If you're in the market for a new email address, try tunome.com It's an AOL site for free email with hundreds of domain names to choose from. I know they support IMAP also for free.
