Maybe the battery can be charged more fully by raising 'FullSate' .

It really works.
I modified the values when battery is at 100%,
and it became 90% ater reset.
Now continue charging.

that sounds me like the standard winmobile battery indicator per-level threshold...

Perhaps FullSate is the level that WM considers battery is full.
So raising the value could make a deep charge.

On further playing I think the values are for the power icon levels on the taskbar.

i don't think so,
changing it to 200 will make the battery try to charge untill it's 200%?
so this means that easily someone can make a virus to make our batteries explode!

Yep, that's it exactly. The charging control unit is either inside the battery or inside the phone's hardware. More likely it's inside the battery.
How would you charge the phone when it's switched off and Windows registry settings wouldn't work?

i think its work, used this method from last month and the battery can last 2 hours longer with extra charge reg edit

for hardware devices that anyone can replace the battery it will be inside the battery it self for sure
it stores the information about the full capacity of the battery (which changes by the passage of time) so imagine if it's on the device itself and bought a new battery. you will get the performance of the old one
maybe iPhone have in the device it self as the battery is not accessable by the enduser

the reason peoples values differ because, the phone is clever. if you charge it often, even when it isnt needed, it will use the battery carelessly because it knows a charge is on the way. if u only charge it 2-4 days at a time then it uses the battery more care full. adapting itself to the way the user uses it.

this is not a human body!
it's a mobile device!
it's never that smart, but what you said was right with the NK batteries (the fact not the explaination)
recharging too often will make the calibration of the battery to be inacurate, while recharging when empty will improve it's performance.
that's it.
for Li-Ion or Li-Pol it's a different story.

Power off at battery 15%

I noticed, a few others, but should be minority has the same problem as mine.
My N1 powers off itself when my battery shows around 15% or so.. sometimes 17% sometimes 14%, never lower than 10%.
I already tried to wipe battery data at recovery or deleting the battstat.bin file etc etc but it is still like that.
Is there a solution for this and any reason for this?
Majority of people's phone only power downs below 5%.

My phone turns off at around 19% now after I played with the battery calibrator app. (I set the life at 100%, was lazy to run the full cycle calibration)
Its powerful and probably can fix your problem.

To calibrate your battery and have it reliably die at 0% every time, follow the instructions that I wrote in post #3 here:

He said he was too lazy to complete the learn cycle, which is part of the calibration technique. There is no sense in trying to pick "pieces" of the process and hope they work, they won't. Start with step 1 and follow the directions to the letter, don't skip anything. I would suggest reading the instructions a couple of times prior to starting and ask questions in the thread if you aren't sure. There are several of us that monitor the thread and will respond quickly...myself during US daylight hours and Temasek in the evening (he's in asia, I think).

I'm currently testing a direct way using simple math:
If 1452mAh is 100% how much is 19% ?
i.e. 1452/100*19 = 275mAh (for me)
I've set "full40" to 1452-275= 1177 (the calibrator app's minimum is 1200 so I just set it to that.)

That may work as a guess-timate, but the stock battery comes rated at 1452mAh and stock age is set to 94%, so you would really be setting to 1128mAh unless you reset age to 100%. It really doesn't take that long to set up the application for learn mode...just a few minutes. It does take 31/2-4 hrs to fully charge the phone and complete learn mode if you set the min. charge current to <20mA. To speed things up, just set it to <40mA as you won't miss the little bit of extra juice.

hmmm good point, i never thought of that lower limit. we'll see if we can update the app.
but to answer this thread's question, the age register in your phone is now out of whack, and you need to set it accordinly to allow the battery to go down to 0%. the learn cycle determine's the proper "age" value and sets it accordingly.
you could also guess an age value, say 83%, would be close. but really there's no reason to not do the learn cycle and figure it out.
BTW all these values are stored in your battery's chip, and it needs to be updated to new value.
Quick question:
1) Sometimes even after I turned on the "Detect Learn Mode" my Current occassionally dropped below -200mA (e.g. 160mA) for a quick while... will it affect the result?
2) "Turn off" means turning off the Detect Learn Mode right?
3) where can I see the "Charging current"? Capa.?

What if I rotate among three different batteries on a regular basis? I have an external battery charger too. Will the calibration be in any way useful or will it get confused by the changes?
I have my original January 2010 battery, a December 2011 replacement from HTC, and a MOMAX battery that also holds up a pretty good charge.

you can rotate batteries no problem. when you do a learn cycle, the age value gets written to the chip inside the individual battery. so you can swap batteries no problem. just make sure that the correct age value shows up when you swap, cause sometimes the age resets when removed from the phone. just set it manually back to your proper age if so.
we were trying to add "profiles" support to the app so you could swap batterys and it remembers the parameters for each and sets them accordingly when you swap the battery. but i dont know how long that will take...

And it's pretty neat because I can just position the pins myself to charge any battery I want. I've tried it with camera batteries, Huawei U1250, Moto Milestone and RAZR, and Nexus One batteries. It works really well and it's somewhat future-proof because it will probably work with my next phone's batteries too =)

This seems to be quite a common and somewhat obscure at the same time.
Many people have reported installing a new rom or even just powering up their phone and seeing a battery % much different from what they expect. Most often much lower than it should be. Evidently this corrects itself after some time but it's a real problem if your display reads <15% because you really have to plug it in then, even with you know you have 90% battery!
So, here's the solution after testing it under different circumstances over a few days:
Simply boot your phone when it is not plugged in to a power source and battery % will be accurate.​
That simple. Silly LG!
So, if you flash a new rom, unplug the USB cable before you reboot...
Hit 'Thanks' below for the 50 reboots I did to prove this...

What about every time I use a custom rom the battery % indicator jumps right down to 90-95% when unplugging from charger ? Do you have a solution for that ?

Sorry to say the same..
Even while charging with the phone shut down, pulling it off the charger and then booting this happens. On my phone I have experienced it on all MCR's.
It's really not a big deal as long as the battery performs as Stock 10b, that build has been stable batterywise on my phone. But staying stock isn't too much fun
Well, every time I charge, whether I reboot/shut down before unplugging or not, my charge always maxes out at 96%.
Annoying and I'd like it sorted if at all possible.

ye i got that exact same issue i was wondering why that was happening and hoped that a simple reboot would fix it but its a bit more complicated than that i suppose...
also the battery reset in cwm didnt fix the loading till 97% w/e percentage.
when i install the stock rom it allows me to load it till 100% though pretty weird stuff -.-

I had a replacement netbook battery that could only max to 90%. So, over the weekend, I practically drained it to 0% (not a healthy practice for Li-ion batteries but I was desperate). Took out the battery for a while, and then recharged for several hours. Well, it seems to get up to 100% now.
Perhaps you could try using the the phone until it very low on battery before recharging. Maybe the charging process in the phone needs some sort of recalibration. But should not be doing this all the time as it will reduce Li-ion battery longevity.
Let mine totally die last night so it wouldn't even turn on at all. Took out and replaced battery and then charged it overnight and hey-presto, when I unplugged it this morning, it stayed at 100%.
Solved indeed....for me anyway. Feel free to try the same and post your results.

I think that it could depend on the "full battery popup FIX" that Paul introduced in his roms by the FR8.
So I would like to ask Paul if you can create a patch to remove that fix. Just to try it!
According to me, incorrect battery amount depend on a wrong voltage read error (offset introduced?) by the rom. :blink:
In my case, I have followed many times battery wype procedure without positive issue. The matter leaves only by flashing original roms.
I think that if Paul have written a wrong battery values range (to delete the battery full popup) that can be traduced in an incorrect battery status displays.

It was occurring before Paul introduced that change unfortunately...
After I wrote here, I registered a premium account to Paul's from modaco site and toke a custom fr12 rom without "battery full popup remove patch". Now I'm going to sleep and plugin the 2x to charge. Tomorrow I'll write here if is that the solution...

Perhaps, but you can not conclude it was introduced by MCR. You logic is wrong there.
Even without "battery full popup fix" it doesn't work good...
Battery level, when unpluged, stay at 100% for 2 minutes afterwards drop down fast until 85% then drain normally...
I'm getting huge battery display problems no matter what I do.
When I took it off the charger this morning, it said I had 100%... thats fair enough. However it stayed at 100% all day, so to "refresh" it this evening I restarted the phone, and low and behold it now says I have 27% left. But again, it's just sticking at that value, even with me now plugging the phone into the wall to charge. It simply says "Charging (27%)" and won't budge, likely until I restart the phone again.
Sometimes it works fine, it seemed to be doing ok last night before I put it on the charger. Any tips/suggestions? Is this something likely to be fixed when the Gingerbread update rolls around?
This is my first real smartphone, and am fairly annoyed as its giving me a fair few problems that I've not had from other electronic devices.
As I stated in another thread, I had the same issue while on MoDaCo Fr12. However, after reverting back to stock, the battery percentage is spot-on and I'm getting up to 48 hours use out of it.

That sounds super, but I'm still on stock too. About the only things of note I've done are root and switching to Launcher Pro. Oh, and Clockwork Mod of course. Perhaps a complete reboot is needed, we'll see how it goes.
Saying that - since charging, my phone has been at 90% all evening, until right this moment when it changed to 89%. It's less than I'd expect on this type of phone for 3-4 hours use (or lack thereof, I've barely touched it), but it's a start eh?
Welcome to the world of smartphones my friend. I've had various handsets over the last 4 years from iphone to android and a day and a half out of the battery is about average......at best. ;-)

Just to clarify, what I meant in my previous post was that I was expecting to battery to drop a lot more than it did. The fact that it only went down 1% in several hours of use prompted me to think that the battery value was messed up.
As it is, I've not charged my phone in the 36 hours since, and it tells me I have 73% battery left. Perhaps it is performing extremely well after all? If that's the case then I'm more than happy with it, but being the pessimist I'm still expecting the phone to turn off sometime with the battery reporting incorrect values.

Battery drain Problem [100% to 5, then shutdown]

I am trying to determine if I have a bad battery or it's the Android costing this issue. While using my Tilt I have wifi on and was using the apps (IE: Market, XDA, etc...) the battery indicated the full charge (or what I have left) drop to 5%. Sometime it will shutdown my Tilt first and when I boot it back up it indicated that I only have 5% or less battery power. That is within 5 minutes of use.
Do I need to get a new battery or is this problem with something else?

That is what I am try to determine, if I need to go out and buy new battery.
Battery status in the setting stated that the battery is in good condition.
What did you mean by resoft and radio?
In Android there should be an app called "Spare Parts" in the app drawer. Find this app, open it then select "Battery Information". Leave this up while charging because we need to see at what point the phone says it's charged. Normal charge level for ANY single-cell Li-Ion battery is 4.2 volts, no higher.
Once charged, disconnect charger and watch the battery voltage number. It should drop a little once off charge (maybe 4.1-4.0 volts). If it drops steeply, say 3.8 or less, your battery is bad and needs to be replaced.
It sounds like your battery is dropping WELL below the "rest" voltage sometime shortly after charging, indicating delamination inside the cell, an indicator of over charging.
I've studied quite a bit on how Li-Ion batteries work over the past year so if anyone should know, I would...

This is what I see while charging.
Battery Status: Charging (USB)
Power Plug: USB
Battery Level: 69
Battery Scale: 100
Battery Healthn: Good
Battery Voltage: 4177mV
Battery Temparature: 32.7c
It currently at 70%, I'll report back once it fully charged.

I think I have either 1.71 or 1.70 radio (can't really tell sicne I do not know where to look. I have tried different OS (IE: Scoot, Fat Free, etc...) Still the same problem.
One other thing, the phone keep shutting down in the middle of me trying to use it. So, I don't know if it is related to the battery issue I have or not.
Maybe simple solution will be the best solution Back to original system (win6.1) for one day and you will see what causing problems. If everything will be ok that you doing something wrong with android. If not-battery is dead or it is another hardware problem....
@ PoXFreak - After fully charged and the batttery voltage went from 4.2 (4217mV) to 3.9 (3990mV) in less than a minute. And it keeps dropping, after a few minutes it dropped to 3.8 (3808mV - 3855mV)

I used 2.6.25 in the past, good one so give it a try . Also, check that app I've shown you few posts ago, it shows battery usage in mA, show me your results, for me it's around 200 mA.
It looks like the battery still drain fast, it just dopped down to 1% and shutdown on me, I will download that apps once I have a chance.
BTW! How do I tell what version radio I currently have? I cannot find that info anywhere. The place where it usually will show me (Baseband version) only said HTC.

It is just time to solve my phones problems.

I have no video of this serial switched setup because my phone is my camera. but even it now boots. I continue to expirement within this

for example. just keeping it standby. it is like full charged after few days. full charged indicates this.
Ok. Take one call or do anything with it. the battery charge goes logaritmically to zero.

The battery shouldn't drain that quickly, something else is wrong; the battery might have dimineshed capacity to hold a charge, or you're experincing the 1 GHz bug (reboot with wifi off).

If you mean that cpus run at 1Ghz continuous these runs 200Mhz both I ssh logged to the fone. I think it is battery problem. I have two of this kinda of these: EB-FM7FLU . 1500mAh (hah!) Might be original. both batteries.
I use in several apps these batts, so I think how Li-Ion(Lions) work. Battery drains of course, but never just like this:
Full charge - do something - logarithmic drain to zero.

Limit Battey Charge % Android 11

Anyone found a consistent way to limit battery charge % on Android 11? The custom settings I used with Battery Charge Limit app on 10 work intermittently on 11. Often times I'd wake up to 100% charge.
Currently I'm using Advanced Charging Controller magisk module with it's accompanying AccA app but often AccA gets killed in the background even after not optimizing it in battery optimization. The only workaround I've found is to create a macro that opens AccA every time I plug in the charger. With that step it's consistent but I'd like to find something not so hacky.
I've been running A11 for about a week and did not encounter any issues with Battery Charge Limit. Maybe make sure that it's not battery optimized? I have it "not optimized" because I'm paranoid about it, rather than having direct problems.

I made sure battery charge limit wasn't optimized. You're using the same custom setting from android 10? Maybe I'll try it again
This the settings you have?

I didn't change anything at all... and honestly with all of the other A11 problems I've been having... I didn't even think to check that it was working. It just has been. I also double-checked with AccuBattery and the history never shows above my limit.

I think that's the custom setting probably restored from your Google backup. Same one I was using. I'm gonna try it again though, thanks

Have you tried Accubattery? Along with charge limiting it has other useful features, including reporting battery capacity vs. new (under health).

Accubattery is fine and all for reporting and giving an idea of where you want to stop charging... but it has no ability to limit charging. The only thing it can do is nag you to take the phone off the charger. This thread is about root applications actually blocking the phone from charging past a certain level without making the user do anything or even notifying the user about what's being done.
I realize this is a couple of months old. but I just got a new OnePlus 8T, now rooted, and I'm trying to use Battery Charge Limit on it. I can't quite figure out the settings to have it work consistently. Let's say the phone is already at 100% when I plug it in. Battery Charge Limit starts, but then it flip-flops between Charging and Not Charging, starting and restarting. The phone woke me up last night because it was making a ding every time Battery Charge Limit flipped between charging and not charging. One would think that if the phone was at 100% Battery Charge Limit would turn off charging and let it drop down to my 85% limit and then back up to 91%, but never got above 91%. Thoughts? Thanks.

It's possible it's not configured correctly for your phone. You can also just disable that notification channel, since mostly it's just annoying. It constantly fliping might mean that there's more than one control file for your phone type and it's using an ineffectual one that the OS is overriding immediately. For example, the default one it detects for Pixel 4's is not the one it should use.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is that I use the notification to trigger Tasker profiles, so I was hoping to figure out a way to get it to stop flipping back and forth while also retaining the notification. I think it's just the standard control file since it's a OnePlus phone, but I'm not sure I can figure out otherwise. When I first start using BCL, I found the control file and was able to manipulate it with a SQL editor and Shell commands in Tasker, but I haven't poked around the OnePlus 8T that much yet.
Just as a PSA, I think Adaptive Charging from the January update can conflict with this. On days where I set a morning alarm, I found that my battery was more full than it should be. I suspect that Adaptive Charging does something that Battery Charge Limit cannot block. I won't know for a few days if turning this off in settings fixes things 100% or the January update just really screws with this.

Well, as a root method it does seem to work. Depending on your taste, it might be cleaner than an app toggling a different variable. Of course you need an app to set the file back to 100 when you want it. Some Tasker widgets work for my purposes... could probably make it a QuickSettings toggle in the shade, actually.
Bottom of that thread, I was wondering specifically if there might be way to force an unrooted device to think it met one of these conditions, so it only charges to 80%.

Continuous charging for four days or more.
I've done very little research on this, but I expect the ways to fool the phone into thinking those things are happening is even more complicated than using that root file control. Meaning also requiring root but manipulating other control files.
I suppose you could have a case and a ribbon USBC connector that fools the charging logic into thinking it is constantly connected to a hardware charger even though it's still at a net negative power. After 4 days of having the case on, it might work. I don't know why anyone would have already built something like that, however.
I would root my phone but, as my daily driver, I need things like banking apps to work. They (at least some) detect rooted phones and refuse to load as a security measure (which is probably a good thing) :-(
Banking apps are usually just a frontend to their website used API. They have no problem with you using a browser on a rooted phone or Linux PC, etc. Any app that stores sensitive data on your phone and relies 100% on the filesystem being locked down was created wrong and lazily. The only thing about banking apps that might be legitimate is when things like unique CC info is stored for NFC and using a TPM can't be assured. Most banking apps, however, do not store anything sensitive on your phone aside from a login token which all websites also do. (it's called a cookie)
My personal preference is that no app is better for me than being able to root my phone. I don't play mobile games that want to keep you from cheating and I don't even care about Google Pay, which I'm not sure has legitimate need to block root either... they just do it to keep banks happy, which as I suggested, I think they're full of BS.
The only thing more BS than this no-root nonsense from app companies is when carriers do it by locking bootloaders. I try to re-use my phones for as long as possible and without the ability to limit battery charge, the batteries swell and die quickly, every time. It's good news that Google added code where phones plugged in constantly will limit charge automatically... but I doubt there is a way to trick it from the outside. (without root)

Back to the topic... I don't think I'm ready to trust the /sys/devices/platform/soc/soc:google,charger/charge_stop_level method. Several times I found my phone at low battery and not pulling any current from the USB port, but not losing charge either. It had put itself into a stalemate where it was stuck below 10% for hours. Resetting the value from 60 to 100 allowed charging again. The battery charge limit app never really caused this. So I guess I'm going back to the full app method.

I would like to definitely solve this problem I have been struggling with for years. What did you do, can you please help me? It seems extremely similar to what you wrote here.
I have been using battery charge limit on my Xiaomi Mi Mix (1st model) since android 7.1 (lineageos) (and I might have messed with a couple files, not sure, can't remember). When updating to android 9 (lineageos) couple years ago I started having the problem you described. Also I notice sometimes I plug the phone at safe levels such as 35% or 60% and it doesn't charge same thing. Also it only charges with certain chargers and not others.
Earlier today it was 11% battery, could not boot android, didn't charge. I got the idea for the first time to try booting in TWRP (on+volume up buttons) and it immediately started charging at full speed. So there's obviously nothing wrong in the hardware, it's software or just config.
I would like to definitely solve this problem, but I don't understand exactly what you did on your side to fix it. Please reply or message me if you have any suggestion Thank you!
