I have Mapking 7 running in my Himalaya with no problem. Although the Himalaya does not have GPS I still find the map function helpful.
1. Download the mapking 7 ( or any other version compatible with PPC) installer to your PC or if you have a CD installer then use that.
2. Install it in your Hima by connecting your Hima to your PC and make sure Active Sync is running (If using Vista then open Windows Mobile Device Center). Double click on the installer in your PC and it will install automatically. You can choose to install it in the SD card to save space.
3. Download Manila map for mapking 7 and copy it to My Documents in your SD card too to save space.
4. open mapking program and Press "Tools > Switch Map" and select Manila.
Hope this helps.

This error comes up whenever I try to load new maps from the Destinator CD. Anybody seen it before?
I have loaded software/maps from this CD loads of times before and I have another copy and get the same results.
I've tried a differant desktop/xda/SD card
I can sync with outlook
I can load any other app
UK ROM 3.17
Any help would be really great.
Dan.
Which version of active sync are you using? I had problems with versions above 3.5 You can simply unzip the maps onto your sd card into the appropriate directory and the software finds them.

Tried 3.5 and 3.7
I friend gave me another copy of the cd and that worked. Really strange as I had 2 other copies of the cd and both were working.
Thanks for your help.
For anybody else using the latest Destinator software, make sure you are using your GPS in Sirf mode, Destinator is VERY flaky in NMEA mode, lost signal, slow updates, freezes etc.
I have difficlut time to install tomtom 5 on wm5. I got windows error at the setup loader starting to install the program to PPC.
(Which is at "select language -> select install application -> show a list that things will to install -> and click next " after click that "next" icon, i got that error windows, the error message is "Tomtom setup application has encontered a problem and needs to close.")
if i can not install the 5.0 on wm5 , how can i upgrade to 5.10? i have been tried many ways to install it. some one post here said to copy 4 cab files to SD card. install one by one. but i can not find where i can start the tomtom 5 after i finish installation via one by one.
can anyone make full installation guide for how to install tomtom 5 on wm5, how to install the 5.10 upgarde package? how to setup tomtom 5 + BLUEtooth GPS reciver + Wm5 to work?
i think alot of people here still have installation and configuration problem about tomtom 5 via wm5.
hope to see the guide soon, Thanks
Rather easy, really.
1. Download the 5.10 upgrade from TomTom (You don't have to install the original 5.0 from the CD first). The file will be either an exe file or ppcup510.zip.
2. Unpack the zipfile (don't run the exe directly from WinRAR or similar programs, that will make it a lot harder to find the directories you want, unpack it to somewhere first). Run the update on the Windows PC. When the first window appears, go to the directory where the update is run from. You will see some new directories there, and what you want, is nvapp. Within that you'll find a subdirectory called app. Copy the four cab-files from that to your PPC, either via the network or ActiveSync. Never mind the ini files.
3. Go to your TomTom CD and find the directory Voice. You'll need to find the correct voice file. For Norway that's nor.cab, for Denmark it's dan.cab and so on. Copy that to the PPC as well.
4. Finally run all the five cabfiles. It doesn't matter which one you run first.
You're done. Of course there's the GPS as well:
1. Pair the Bluetooth GPS with the PPC.
2. Go into Settings, System, GPS. Set Program and hardware port to none and remove the tick from the box "Manage GPS automatically".
3. Settings, Connections, Bluetooth, COM Ports. Create an incoming port (I use COM8). Some ports will give you an error. Also create an outgoing port. I use COM7, and that is called "HOLUX GR-230 (COM7)" since I use a Holux GR-230 GPS.
4. Open TomTom and go through the regular setup. When you come to GPS setup, choose "Other Bluetooth GPS" and set that to the same port as your outgoing port. On my GPS that means COM7. Within 15 seconds your GPS should send signals. And you're good to go TomTom-ing!

Hi All,
I've got a problem with installing TomTom5 (also tried 5.21) on my qtek9090 with the Mobile 2005 ROM from Helmi version 1.2.
With 5.00 the installer crashes before doing anything.
With 5.21 the installer works but the software crashes when I try to start it up.
I've also tried to copy the .cab files to my device and to install them that way. The procedure runs fine but the installer doesn;t install anything.
Is there any way to make this work?
Thnx,
~EnterZ
Ive got Tom Tom running fine on my 9090, but under Helmi 3 2005. I ran the install from an SD card, no problems. The Install from computer just dosnt work. You are running the TTN installer file, which is 3.35mb, not the TomTom today plugin, which is 314 bytes arnt you?
I tried a few things:
- The installer of TT5.0 doesnt work indeed. Seems to be a known issue.
- The installer of TT5.21 does actually work and after install I'm now able to open the program.
First I need to give in the Language I want to use
Second The clock and KM/mile setting. After that I need to select a voice.
I don't have any voices installed and frankly I don;'t want one either..
So i just click on the 'select' button at a random non-excistant voice.
Then the program crashes and I'm back @ windows Mobile TT has closed itself
I got it!
I really don't know what I've done but it does work now.. or atleast it loads up. Still need to go to my car to test the GPS receiver but I'll guess I will get that working.
What I've done:
- Uninstall all TomTom things (except the map)
- Install http://www.ocpsoftware.com/download.php?nm=cecabmgr&dlID=4 that program to your computer.
- Open the ttn.cab file in the ceCab manager which you've installed in the previous step.
- Copy the .exe and the .chk file to \Program Files\Navigator map on your PDA device.
- Copy the .dat file to \MyDocuments\TomTom\ on your device.
No do a softreset.
Test if you can run TT. Here it works okay.
Next thing i did is just use the 5.21 updater from tomtom and it worked!
Hi,
While installing the cab file in my HTC TyTN II, it ask me the location where to install the software Storage Card or memory.
But i am having problem while installing softwares which are not in the form of cab files but they are exe files and i have to install them in my device through PC via Active Sync.

I would suggest you try to install the software via ActiveSync and although the option to choose where the program is installed is greyed out... when it gets to your device, you 'may' still get the option to install it in memory or on a storage card. If you aren't being asked, it could mean that the software you are installing must be installed in memory. (Or the developer thinks it should be, and therefore doesn't give you the option.) Microsoft Voice Command is like that.

is it possible to have TextToSpeech voice feature enable in Garmin Mobile XT? if it is then can someone tell me how and what do i need to download?
thanx
to get the voice files, for turn by turn voice guidence, you must first install GPS 10, and copy the "voice" folder out of it. then unistall GPS 10, and install Garmin mobile XT, then paste the voice folder back in.
Can you be a little more detailed?
1. Uninstall all instances of Garmin from your device
2. Download and Install GPS 10 for PPC from http://www.garmin.com/
3. Install GPS 10 on your Storage Card via ActiveSync
4. Navigate to Storage Card>Garmin
5. Cut the "voice" folder, and paste it somewhere else on the storage card.
6. Uninstall GPS 10 from your device.
7. Reinstall XT via ActiveSync
8. Navigate to the "voice" folder. Cut and Paste it BACK into the Garmin folder on your storage card.
does not work...
i didnt see any difference than wat i already have...it still does not say the street names or anything...
