Hi,
While installing the cab file in my HTC TyTN II, it ask me the location where to install the software Storage Card or memory.
But i am having problem while installing softwares which are not in the form of cab files but they are exe files and i have to install them in my device through PC via Active Sync.
My "Install Program into default installation folder" option under ActiveSync\Tools\AddRemove Programs is checked and grey (disabled). WHich result into that i cannot choose the installation directory to my storage card while installing any software through ActiveSync.
I was using WM2003SE device before and it was working fine there.
Please help me that how can i uncheck this option in WM6.
Thanks in advance.
He you tried it, hmmmmm????
It will ask you on the device where you want to install it!

I would suggest you try to install the software via ActiveSync and although the option to choose where the program is installed is greyed out... when it gets to your device, you 'may' still get the option to install it in memory or on a storage card. If you aren't being asked, it could mean that the software you are installing must be installed in memory. (Or the developer thinks it should be, and therefore doesn't give you the option.) Microsoft Voice Command is like that.

I have HTC Diamond for 10 days (Asian version , ROM 1.35.707.3 WWE). Set it up and successfully used on US T-Mobile until yesterday when I’'ve got an error message on the phone saying that the program I am trying to open can not be open because of the missing dll file. I had few different software which I use on day to day basis installed on the phone like Pocket Informant, SPB Traveler, Trip Tracker, Cootek TouchPal. After the error message I tried to open other programs, but whatever was installed on the internal storage of the phone gave me an error message.
Next I tried to reinstall those programs and got the message saying – “…the installation was unsuccessful…”. Next I decided to do the hard reset and reformat the internal storage. In the end of the process I'’ve got the message saying "Compare moviNAND error". It stays on screen until I hit the reset button.
After restart the device goes back to the factory settings. The internal storage is available, except I find "internal storage" and "internal storage2" folders. The CONTENTS folder which I had there originally is missing. I can copy files there, but when I attempt to install the software I am getting the following message: "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate."
I know that a lot of you guys went through hard resets. Did anyone had this problem? Can any one help me to fix this?
Hi,
Try deleting the 'Internal Storage' folder using the file explorer and soft reset. 'Internal Storage 2' should be automatically renamed to 'Internal Storage'.
Hopefully this work for you.
DT
Did that. But still can not install any CABs...
Activesync mode
Check if your diamond is not connected as disk drive (normally when you connect it to your computer you have the choice to connect using activesync or disk drive). If you did connect using disk drive mode, you will not be able to install programs correctly. This is why it creates a 'internal storage 2' folder when installing programs.
I rearly use ActiveSync to install programs. I have them mostly as a CABs. So last advice does not fix the problem. Thank you though.

this internal storage 2 is because of messaging (attachments of email messages that are appointed to be stored in internal storage). when u want account to store messages to the internal storage some times it doesnot work in order to get this worked just go to MESSAGING and MENU >>>> OPTIONS >>>> and here u see all accounts and just at left side u see storage and there uncheck the item that says When available use this storage card to store attachements and then RESTART and the problem should now be solved.
Mahmood, Thank you for your reply. Good point.
But my main problem is that I can not install any programs on my Diamond - neither to the Main Memory nor to the Internal Storage.
Any idea how to deal with the ..."Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate"... message?

FIRST install the sdkCERTF.cab see the attachment see if it works !!
which softwares are u installing again if u are installing them again maybe they were not deleted completely u can use taskmanager to terminate the process of that program and then reinstall. Use the Certf cab file and install it in your device may be this will help !!
Well, the whole point of my post is that it does not allow me to install ANY CAB file. I just tried it and copied both programs to the Diamond. After clicking on SDKCert.cab I've got the "Installation of SDKCerts.cab was unsuccessful" and with the TaskMgrv3.0 the message is "The file 'TaskMgr' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file"
What else could be done?
"digitally signed with a trusted certificate" issue
Guys, can anyone help here??? I can not believe that no one knows how to fix this...
If I were to flash my ROM to one of the newer ones from this forum, do you think it would fix the "digitally signed with a trusted certificate" issue?
Got the same issue with rom 1.37 :/
Any ideas since then ?
bringing this back to the top. I am trying to install an autorun that is designed to run from an SD card (not sure if this makes a difference or not) and when I do it says its not a trusted certificate and won't run. Have already installed the sdkcert.cab file and it states it installed correctly, but still the problem persists.
Fixed my install problem
I used Pocket Mechanic to fix registry issues and remove all trace of the program that first failed to install. All subsequent installs work fine.
I had my Touch Diamond for about a week now and with the help of this forum, this thing really rocks! I do have a problem that I cant find an answer to though.
When installing CAB files I get the choice to store in Device or Internal Storage. This seems to be very hit and miss for me even when I have choosen to have files installed into Internal Storage, they sometimess install into the Device directory "Program Files". Looks like this directory was created to handle some of the Sprint default program like, NAV and TV.
I'm using ActiveSync to transfer the CAB's from computer to the Internal Storage for installation and I'm using the stock Sprint ROM. I'm starting to run out of storage space in the Device due to this problem, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
G.T.
some .cabs install files into the device storage regardless of what you choose because some need system files located with all the others. What programs have you installed?
Hi AD,
Files pre-installed in Sprint ROM in Device>Program Files
Connections>Mail Attachements (looks like this directory is 0 bytes, so I assume its safe to delete)
RSS Hub
Sprint TV
TeleNav
Windows Media with sub directories Default (Portrait), Default (Landscape)
Files I have installed that are in Device>Program Files
Diamon TF3D Config
S2P
Second Today
Today Agenda
SKKV (G Sensor Calibration)
Oddly enough Opera was also there, but I was having problems with emai/text messages associating with IE instead of Opera so I re-installed the Opera Cab and it no longer shows in Device>Program files
I was told that Sprint TV and TeleNav could be installed into the device storage (the CAB's are in the Windows directory) but I don't see a uninstall option under Remove Programs or Settings?
Thanks
GT
Hi all, I have the same issue
all the softwares I have installed using cab directly from the diamond, aven I have choose the Internal Storage are installed on the main memory.
Else, the installation I launched under windows (Reso programs) are well installed on the internat storage .....
Hmm those cab's you have installed if i remember correctly have to be installed into the device memory, try somethign like a game or a freeware app and see if you have an option of where to install it
I have a stock ATT Tilt, with the stock ROM (6.0)
I am trying to install SPB Mobile Shell. I have never used the software before and downloaded the trial. Each time I try to install the CAB from my device, it is unsuccessful.
Any suggestions? (And yes, I have redownloaded the software and tried to install it a number of times)
Thanks

Never had this problem, are you using the right version?
I have downloaded it three times from spb's own site, both to my computer and directly to my device. (I don't have a windows machine, so I am downloading the CAB files). I even downloaded the EXE file and extracted the CAB from it.
Each time as I click on the CAB file (on my device), it says Installation was unsuccessful.
Any thoughts?
Mobile Shell
Have you made sure to check it's box in the "today" settings page to activate it on "today". Also remember to uncheck everything else on that page.
It's not installed...so there is nothing to check. Just trying to figure out how to install...

Go to Settings/Today/ Items and uncheck all items on your today screen. Load the SPB onto your SD Card, however when you click it and it then prompts you to the location installation, leave it on Device.

Thank you so much. It finally installed....but
However, it is only v. 2.0.0. Anyone know where to get the latest version THAT WILL INSTALL?
You can download direct from SPB themselves, or a software provider like Handango lets you download the trial version.
I have seen the same issue with installations of this too. I found that the installation .cab file was too small and so (althought it 'appeared' to install) it failed. I got round the problem by downloading directly from the PC and then moving the cab to the SD card before installing from there.
This would not account for your failed PC installation but may be worth a go if you still find it an issue.

Tony
Hi,
I had the same problem last night, the CAB would not install from the SD card or Main Memory.
In the end i downloaded the EXE from SPB and installed via Windows Mobile Device Center (old ActiveSync ) and it was fine.
Cheers

Hello...i am new in windows mobile, and my kid's cp running 6.1 in asus p320 asking me to help her to change it in a finger friendly phone, but problem was that everytime i install spb direct from the spb site, got an unsucccesful message at the end of the installation, were it took me so much time just to find out (not to mention it stuck from 43% installation indicator) its unsuccesful. tried to install it to the device itself but says not enough memory, so i used my storage card instead. Pls help and tell me exactly how to install it.
thanks and more power.
Can someone please help? I have downloaded a .cab file to my pc; however, I cannot copy it to my device through Windows explorer or ActiveSync. The "no" sign shows up when I try to drag and drop. I have tried unchecking the Advanced features on USB to PC. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure whats causing that if the device is properly connected and synchronised but a surefire way will be to copy the cab to your microSD card using the cards USB reader and then put the card back in the phone and run it from there. Are there any other problems you're getting with regards to activesync and what are the rest of the details of your setup (both phone and desktop)?
Thanks for the reply. The issue is resolved now.
Help required please. I want to HSPL my phone but i need an internet connection to do that. The problem is whenever i install activesync and connect my phone, the wireless internet on my laptop just don't work even after disconnecting my phone and i have to restore my windows to a time before i installed activesync in order to make my wireless connection work again. Please help me to solve this problem any setting in activesync i need to change to make it work? I will really appreciate your help.
Delete and recreate your sync relationship.
Make sure you select enable wireless connections while sync'd.
Regarding HSPL, have you tried thre manual install first? Otherwise it'll cost you.
Also, with the auto install or installing via RUU.exe active sync will disconnect and only USB connection will remain so it should be able to connect to the network during install.
I have resync many times but my internet doesnt work. It doesnt even work after removing the phone from active sync. The only way to make my connection work again is to restore my computer to a date before installing the activesync. Anyways i will try to connect it through my office computer if it didn't worked again.
And i am installing HSPL for the very first time so pls guide me on this, what's a manual install. I went through this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520312
and going to install through this file " Topaz-HardSPL_V5_00R5_183HSPL.zip ". Am i doing it correct? And i dont have to install HSPL 1.33 before installing 1.83, i can start directly from 1.83 right??? And after that i will install the energy ROM through storage card method. Please confirm that i am doing it correctly. Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated.
Not sure about your ActiiveSync issue. So you instsall AS and you no longer can access internet from PC? What OS are you running? If its Vista, you use Windows Mobile Device Center, which replaced AS.
Regarding HSPL, I will be brief in my explanation and point you back to the thread and search for my posts as I have posted instructions there many times, they just get buried in the many pages.
There are 3 methods to flash;
1. Auto Install, where you download the Topaz-HardSPL_V5_00R5_183HSPL.zip and the enablenewrapi. cab, copy and install .cab to your device, sync to PC, then run .exe.
This method will ask you to donate and will not work unless you do.
2. Flash from SD card, you can rename any .nbh file to TOPAIMG.nbh, place in the root of your SD card, enter bootloader mode (search for instructions) and it will initiate the flash.
3. Custom RUU, find and download Topaz RUU.exe, place .nbh file in same folder as RUU.exe, sync your device to you PC and run the RUU.exe.
I use #3 exclusively and have never had an issue, others get stuck at 0% progress an have to soft reset.
I believe you need to flash 1.83, then flash to 2.51 but I am not 100% sure you can't flash directly to 2.51. Do not bother flashing 1.33.
I have provided tools for #2 and #3, #1 exe and cab are available in the HSPL thread.
If you thoroughly read all of my instructions and it does not work, your only option will be to pay through the auto install method and if you encounter issues open a ticket as instructed in the thread.
Thanks a lot. I will try the #3 method. And will post how it went. Thanks again.
I tried both the SD card and manual method and placed the "customRUU.exe" and the "1.83 nbh file" in the same folder in my PC and while activesynced i lauched the cutomRUU.exe but after going into that tri color screen and then into usb mode it just stucks at 0% and nothing happens. I waited for like 5 mins but it just got stuck at 0%. What should i do now?
BTW i have flashed my TD2 with the original ROM update of WinMo 6.5 before.

All,
for those who have Windows 7 and run with Office 2010 64bits it's not possible to sync your phone. The solution is to deinstall office 2010 and install office 2010 32 bits. You don't have to save your settings and files, after installing your system find everything incl. account setting
I still had sync problems; the second time i pluged in, my pc did not find my phone. Looking on internet i found the next solution and after trying i must say it works;
Same issues!
Here is what I have done:
Step 1: Connect my Samsung Omnia (SCH- i910) Touch Diamond II to the USB Port of PC. Windows automatically installed driver in device manager called "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter." Windows Mobile Device Center automatically loaded.
Step 2: With WMDC running, I can browse all files on device, my storage, and storage card. I have options to add/delete programs. I can sync with Windows Media Player. I can also download all pictures and video files to the PC with a single click!
All this is great but the MOST important thing to me is to sync my Contacts with Microsoft Outlook. When I press "sync", if it hasn't tried to start automatically, the green icon in tray spins, everything looks like it's going to work but nothing. It just hangs there till I finally cancel and exit. Looking through other tips, I read something about windows firewall. I have enabled the recommended entries as well as disabling firewall completely with no results.
Further testing, I can sync mobile favorites if I uncheck all others but still can not sync Contacts. Need a fix!
All,
be also aware of remove hardware, then remove generic serial rejecten.
Regards, John
Windows 7 and Office 2010 can sync with Touch Diamond. First you must setup mail account in Outlook, and it must be default mail client, and then everything can be synchronized. Windows Mobile Device Center is prerequisite 32bit or 64bit version, depending of Windows 7 version
