When I plug my Kaiser into my PC, the pc doesnt pick it up, and the phone doesnt charge. I've check the cable and port with other devices, and they were fine. I haven't changed the computer at all either. The phone says it is charging when you first plug it into USB, but the orange charge light does not come on, and after a while it stops saying its charging in the power monitor.
If I plug it into the wall charger, the light comes on and it charges as normal. The headphones also still work fine.
I haven't changed my PC at all, and everyhting used to work just fine. Does this sound like a hardware problem? Is there anyhting else I can do to test it?
If anyone has any suggestion I'd be grateful,
Thanks

If you've changed settings in the phone then make sure the tickbox under Settings -> System -> Power -> Advanced labelled 'When device is turned on, do not charge battery when connected to the PC' is unticked. Also under Settings -> Connections -> USB to PC, if you've ticked 'Enable Advanced Networking Functionality' then that can explain the lack of an ActiveSync Connection as some USB ports aren't up to that. What sort of USB port are you using (for example and old USB 1.1 port built into the motherboard)?

Suggesting the USB port itself is still OK (otherwise the charging problem would remain even though the audio pins are different to those used when synching.

Try it on another PC with Activesync 4.5 or WMDC 6.1 installed (according to which OS you're running on it). Otherwise if checking all the above configuration setting is to fiddly for you and you've nothing to loose off the phone, ensure your storage card is NOT encrypted and perform a hard reset. Read your manual or the xda-wiki if you need further info on how to do this.

I have a weird problem with my USB port (I assume it's PC related but...?).
I can connect and sync my kaiser with a std or the HTC USB cable but if I cradle it in the Seidio or connect the 3-1 adapter I get the response "unknown USB device". Strange enough is that NONE of the two is charging. At other PC's it sometimes works, sometimes not. I assume my USB drivers of my Dell Optiplex are toast but how to reinstall...
Well, start with checking to see if under settings------->connections-------->"usb to pc ", the usb to pc option doesnt have " enable advanced networking functionality" checked ( enabled ). That will most times cause issues with activesync connecting and especially prevent USB charging.
Next, check to see if actvesync is set to use USB as an active connection type under its settings.
Delete any previous activesync pairs you may have and try to reconnect. I somehow doubt its your drivers but the best way to check is to just go to Microsoft.com, navigate to their downloads section, and download a new copy of activesync.
One last thing to check. Some roms have a battery option (settings ----------> power-------> battery tab ) that doesnt allow charging when connected to a PC. Make sure that is NOT checked.
Thanks for your reply.
I tried all you mentioned beside uninst. AS clean the PCs reg and reinstall.
Will let everybody know.

sometimes when you start your car you can get a power surge though it and it burns the usb port.
This happen to me and I had to send it back to be fixed. (it cost me to fix it)

i try to make a bootloader but i can't
so i i make a hard reset ?
and what will when i make it... this start my rom over again like the first time that i install it ?
ammm after i doin a hard reset its still doesn't work for me...
some 1 ? ...
have you tried a different USB cable.
I had a similar issue before and it turned out it was the USB cable itself.
yeah i try it...
Did you try it on another computer?
When you connect the phone to the USB port, do you get the popup asking how you would like to use it? *ActiveSync, USB Disk, internet sharing)
If you don't get one, check your settings: Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> USB to PC.
Check what the options are and if the "Ask me first about USB connection" is enabled.
Reconnect the phone and see if it works.
If it still doesn't work, you should check the Device Manager in your Windows computer (if you use one that is). See if the device is recognised. You can try to remove the device and reinstall the drivers for it.
ai try on snythere computer and nothing. the phone asking me about active, usb disk and internet sharing. and also nothing. so i thing that my usb connecting s burn imself. lucky that we have bluetooth, slowly but it fine... 10q for trying helping me
maybe this works
hi,
I had the same problem, try this:
go to preferences > connections > usb to pc > and uncheck the advanced networking checkbox.
After that it worked for me. BUT! I Was unable to connect to the internet on my phone through my usb cable!
So I just uninstalled active sync disconnected my phone, checked advanced networking back on again and reinstalled active sync, be sure to remove all previous pairings between your pc and your phone. I hope this works for you
greets Daan
ps always make a back up of your contacts and stuuf when uour doing these kind of things, active sync just sucks *****
nope, nothing...
**** man must be hardware:s i hope not.
cant think of anything else but to send it back for repair
good luck
I have a problem with my X1. Its not responding when pluged in laptop or any other computer...but charger is working properly...what is the problem,do i have to change and settings or???
thank you in advance!
cheers
use a two-plug USB cable (the type that comes with portable hard drives).
Maybe setting is wrong
Hi,
take a look at your settings. In the connection settings it might be set to the faster active sync mode which does not work most of the time.
If it is already disable I have no clue

Hi guys ! I am having bad luck with a C6903 phone.
First of all, my battery is losing 4-5% per hour in stand by mode, even though the phone is spending 99% of the time in deep sleep. I tried killing every app, I tried safe mode, formating the micro SD card, I did a factory reset. Nothing worked.
The second problem is that the USB data transfer is not working, so I can't root the phone, in order to see more detailed battery statistics, nor can I flash another Rom.
So I'm pretty stuck. Does anyone have any ideea about what could be wrong? Could these 2 problems be related? Could there be a broken IC that drains the battery and is also causing the USB data transfer failure? Or is it more likely that the battery is broken, and it has nothing to do with the USB problem?
I am ready to order some replacement parts, but I don't know what I should buy. Battery? USB port? Charger flex cable?
Please help!
Why is your data transfer not working? Activated debugging?
What process drains the most battery?
Sent from Xperia Z1
Yes, I activated USB debugging and I tried both USB connection modes: MTP and MSC. Moreover, when I connect the phone to the computer via USB, if I go to settings -> about phone -> status -> Battery status, it says "Charging (AC)". So it thinks it is connected to an AC socket, and not an USB port.
Something is wrong with the phone, but I don't know what. Either the micro USB port, or a chip. Is it possible that the PM8941 power management chip is faulty and it is causing both problems ? Is there any other chip that could be causing this problems ?
The process that drains the most battery is "Cell Standby". It takes usually 35-40%. But if I am using the phone for a couple of minutes, then the "Screen" process equals the "Cell standby" process. Which seems reasonable. The processes seem fine.

There is an Option where you can choose what you want when the phone is connected to USB, Charging Only, Media or Storage. If the option is on Charging then is normal to me it Charging only and it appear "Charging (AC).

Where is this option? I can't find it
Try another usb cable.
I did. I tried at least 4 different cables. It is a hardware problem. I'm sure of it.

You might have a defective device. Just bring it in to the shop and have it checked
Try another PC, install correct drivers...
So much more to try before you send it back.
Also, when you say data transfer does not work, does that mean you cannot send data between pc and phone or the that the PC does not recognise the phone at all?

Yes...I tried 3 different PCs. By data transfer, I mean that the PC doesn't recognize the phone, and the phone doesn't recognize the PC. And also when I go to device manager on the PC, there is no device that is marked as unknown or nothing. I installed PC Companion and it doesn't detect the phone either.
The thing is that it's a second hand phone so I can't send it back. I can fix it at a service, but they charge too much. I would rather buy a new phone than pay for fixing this one. The only option that I am considering is fixing it myself. But I am not sure which chip is faulty.
Hi, My phone is showing these symptoms :
If I connect it using USB cable, no USB icon shows up in status bar, PC does not recognize any device connected to it(with or without driver you should be able to see a USB device connected to it) also it wont even charge!
Phone charges fine with charger
If I turn off phone and connect it to PC it will start to charge
Holding volume up and connecting to charger will result in LED turn blue and a black screen but still no USB device shows up in PC for fastboot
If I go into USB Preferences and connect the USB to PC everything is grayed out except enabling charge connected device
what I've tried :
Use different cable
Use different PC
Use different OS(windows10/Linux)
Reboot phone
Removing SD card and SIM card
Factory reset phone
Clean USB port
My phone is using latest Android pie Build 52.0.A.8.14, developer mode and USB debugging is also enabled.
I would appreciate if you let me know how to resolve this If you think it's not a hardware issue
Is there any way to install TWRP without having USB connection to the phone ?

If you don't rely on unlocking, usb data transfer, etc it is fine
I know this is a old thread, but
I have a similar issue, I need this phone for debugging purpose, and I "fixed" it by turn the usb-c around........
Just like the old usb.
I don't know why. I already tried multiple cables, all have "one side connection", it seems it's phone's hardware issue. But I'm not sure.
That's not the case for me, looks like some people are telling this has happened for them after updating to 52.0.A.8.50

I'm also having the same problem with the same phone (android 10 build 52.1.A.2.1).
This problem started yesterday and somehow my SD card is not recognized anymore, it's asking to reformat it.
Rotating the original usb cable does help!
Only it doesn't want to connect to finder on my Mac, I have yet to try a windows pc.
