completely disable gsensor/accelerometer? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

is there any way to completely disable gsensor/accelerometer?

Maybe you just want to disable the events it causes? What annoys you about it?

disable it by editing the registry.search on it for gsensor.dll and delete it.
i had disable it because after i crashed my phone gsensor was not working propperly anymore. :'(

thanks....that worked

hrmm does this help with battery life at all?
don't really use the g-sensor that often...
be useful when using tomtom if it does affect anything

I noticed that my phone locks up often when I am at work but no place else. I work on the 16the floor and I think it has to do with the altitude. That's the only thing I can figure. So I want to see if there is a way to temporarily disable the G Sensor.

Thank you!!!! I hate gsensor!

I deleted that reg entry and now my ATT Tilt2 doesn't go back to portrait when I close my phone when using messaging. I put the reg entry back hoping it would fix the issue but no luck. Note to self,,, always back up your registry.

I get the same issues coming out of landscape with keyboard open/close on Native WM Messaging. Solved by clicking Start Button then open/close KB. Im back to portrait.
HTC Messaging works fine with open/close KB.

Best question being asked here lol. I know this question was asked in 2010 but let me make things clear: What the hell is an android registry? It only exists in Windows. Also no Registry in Linux, MacOS X, DOS, BSD, iOS, Bada OS or Symbian available. There is just a build.prop in Android where you can set specific things for your kernel. That's it. Thank you guys for causing confusion!
PS: It is called Home Button. Stop confusing [email protected]

[SOLVED] How do I disable automatic screen rotation?

How do I disable screen rotation on my Touch Diamond, specifically when using Opera?
I've tried Gyrator 2 but to no avail.
Solution:
Not elegant but...
Change registry HKLM\Software\Opera\GSensor\IdleTime to a very large number like 1000000.
not 100% sure but try deleting the gsensor.lnk file in windows\startup folder
I saw in one of the threads that even the phone dialer screen rotates. This doesn't occur in my phone. Does this happen in your phones??

Not as standard - only Opera (and one other that I have forgot about) rotates. However if, like me, you use GSen then other apps (you can choose which) will rotate. My dialer screen rotates as does my TT6 for example.
Thanks!!
I read reviews on Gsen & Gyrator still having some teething problems in this same forum. I don't mind to wait further before things like these gets ironed out.
If you are aware of something that is error free so far, appreciate a lead.
Ive been looking for a solution for my IGO

But couldnt find one.
I see you managed to auto-rotate your tomtom.
is that possible with the iGo8?
I've tried adding that line in the gsen config but it still doesnt work.
I have had no problem with Gsen and it works fine for me. I can't answer if it works with Igo because I don't use it, but it works with TTN6. Having said that if I turn a corner sharply at the same time as hitting a bump it goes back to portrait for a few seconds.

just a guess, but are you browsing Opera / Photo Album whilst lying down in bed, perchance?
i'm having the same issue, it's really annoying, no idea why they couldn't have a settings menu to toggle auto / manual.

Yes. But sometimes it also happens if I am carrying it and accidently tilt it.
Solved.
Edited registry HKLM\Software\Opera\GSensor\IdleTime to a very large number like 1000000.
This auto rotating has been drving me mad. People all were suggesting gsen and other utilities but they all are awkward. In the end this simeple trick did it.
Like Apple was the first to get the touchscreen done right after 20 years of touchscreen history, Apple also did the auto-rotate right. With an iPhone/iPodTouch, it won't turn more than twice, so you can easily avoid unwanted rotation. Why Windows Mobile develops cannot figure out simple solutions like that?
Thanks for posting this fantastic workaround!
I saw this thread weeks ago but lost it and couldn't find it again despite my best efforts with the search function & google.
Here's a CAB for it (my 2nd ever!):
Thanks alot .d
just a little FYI - the cab doesn't work for me...the program (Opera) still auto rotates. I have tried the manual hack too.
Any more info?

Found the solution! I'm so happy. I'm done with this stupid automatic rotation:
The trick about HKLM\Software\Opera\GSensor\IdleTime need to be done but you also need to remove in HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
the opera value.
I did the same for google maps and it works perfectly
I don't know about the rest but for HTC HD it's VERY SIMPLE!
HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\AutoRotation = 0 (Default = 2)
My Problem was mostly with Dialer. No more screen rotation for me!

[Q] Disable the wake up when you slide the phone

Any program that does that?
I remember being able to disable this on the Kaiser with the Kaisertweak.
BUMP! BUMP!
Hi:
I am just curious, why would someone need to use the keyboard while the phone is asleep?
Thanks!
I put in the same request...
Having the phone in your pocket may to weird things if it wakes up on keyboard slide (you need not to slide it out completely to wake it up...).
I have a question...how to disable auto rotation while qwerty slideout?

This is a very obviously stupid recommendation.
First because nobody would do that, unless they would like to brick their device.
It's always better to ask before to "experts"..., yes "experts".
No offense.

that has the option in it as well, as well as the option to keep the keyboard light on. also it lets you switch the SIP when changing(so you can use Null keyboard in Landscape if you want)

Change hourglass/waiting cursor

Hi all,
already searched the forum and even tried Google, but it's not my friend this time.
I don't really like the standard hourglass on my Raphael, I would like it to be some more in TF3D style or at least without the white background.
I found out you can change it with a Marshall's Waiting Cursor program, but the developer's site is down and there is no other place you can download the program as far as I know.
Is there another useful program to change it? Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
His site seems to be working on my end...
I don't know any other software that does the same. I uses Marshall's program for a while on my Tilt, seemed to be working ok. The occasional glitch though.
Cheers,
Cacti
i second MWC2.

I'll try it, since it's the only way to change the cursor. Is it so hard to create such cursors?
Wisbar Advance also has the option of customizing the wait cursor. However it is not freeware.
The cursor images/frames are stored in one of tthe dl's(or dll.mui.*) in Windows folder. Open the dll in PC using some resource editor(PE Explorer or Resource Tuner for example) and change those bitmaps. Copy it to your Windows folder back using Resco Explorer(this is the only one, which can overwrite ROM files) and restart.
Anyone that's using MWC2 ever notice their device randomly turning on?
Last time I tried it my screen would come on out of nowhere. Once I uninstalled it the problem went away.

Anyone?
For those users interested to find a solution to disable the curtain, here is the package. Could be a dll or a registry key.
Found a solution
Found a solution with reg key.
Goto HKLM\Software\HTC\Phone\Cover
There is a DWORD value ResumeInterval set to 5000 (5secs).
I changed it 300000 (5mins) and soft-reset.
Now the call starts with slider on, you only need to slide down once. Then it will wait for 5 mins of inactivity to come back up.
Probably higher values can be used, but 5mins should work for me.
As always, modify registry at your own risk...

I had zero issue with the standard one, it was functional and did exactly as one would expect. Topaz dialer hides all options instantly making it absolutely dangerous to try and activate loudspeaker whilst driving . The other issue is landscape view, if using any rotate screen app and having the device in landscape (ie. whilst using GPS apps etc) and receiving a call there is no dialer shown at all!
Surely I am not the only one to notice these problems?
thanks man it helped

Does BsB read the gsensor reg setting, by any chance?
Exit Opera.
Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\GSensor]
