At some point in the past few days HTC Home stopped displaying the Contacts/Favorites tab. I am (and have been) using HTC Home Customizer and I see Contacts as a choice on the Tabs setting and have selected (and de-selected several times) it but it still won't display the tab on the home screen.
I tried re-installing HTC Home but no joy...
Any and all thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated. I'm hoping someone can share their registry entries for HTC Home and/or Contacts?
Did you install one of the TouchFlo/Biotouch Cube installation cabs? They add a registry key that hides the contacts from HTCHome
^^^ If you did
i had the same problem and this worked

I did (unsuccessfully) and the registry tweak above fixed it.
Thank you all!!!!
Greg
ZILLA - thanks, couldn't remember the exact registry value off hand ... didn't have time to look it up at that point
gregeast - glad to hear that fixed it. Sorry you didn't get the cube working ... it's not an easy install at this point, but pretty cool when you do get it working.
Thank the lawd! It works! I've been searching and reinstalling for a week.
Nice thanks
Where do you find the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/MASD/QuickDial on the unit, have searched loads of directorys but couldn't find it to delete it?
Well sounds stupid, but you really looked in the Registry and not the File Structure? It is exactly there under MASD....

You have to use Regedit program and to search you have to search for QuickDial
not the whole thing. If you cant find a registry editing program, I think you are out of luck.
Hello,
For the past few days the (from what I gather) well-known problem of not being able to install or run an 'untrusted' application has been plaguing me. However, I've been searching here and googling around for a long time now with no result...
Been using Dutty's 5.2.19199 (WM6.1) and I really didn't change any setting! So what gives? Any ideas?Basically, how do I get the prompt back (the one during installation)?
Thanks in advance!

Check your registry settings! Use KaiserTweak or Schaps' AdvanceConfig!
Yes, I know it must be something in the registry, but what? And, I thought of Tweak and AdvanceConfig but -guess what? They're not authenticated! Argh!

If you are technical, try this: Download KaiserTweak's latest XML file and open the file in Notepad. Then see what registry key(s) is(are) modified for this tweak.
Ah now - that's a great idea! But, do you know of any PC-based registry editor, since I cannot install one on my TyTNII?
If you're really technical, you can follow through with cmonex's way found here.
If not, search for dot fred task manager, which includes a great *FREE* registry editor amongst other tools, much better than PHM Reg Editor, imo....
Whoa, thanks a bunch. I'll try the task manager first (found here, btw), but I'm not sure if I'll be able to run it either - the whole system seems VERY restricted! I'll try to make heads from tails with the instructions in the other thread. Thanks so much!
Btw, I do seem to remember a program that allowed you to edit the PPC's registry from Windows PC, anyone remember that?
Thanks again guys - much, much appreciated!
You can run the untrusted app, i.e. Advanced Conig. Just select yes. Then make the changes.
BTW, to view the xml, just Open notepad on pc & drop the xml in the notepad window.
No I can't that's my problem - it just flat refuses to run it, it doesn't give me the prompt.. that's why I'm asking for a PC-based registry editor!
Anyhow, I'll try it today and will let you know if I manage it!

Here is another PC based mobile registry editor. Simple to use and works well. Havent found any serious problems with it
Yes, I'm trying this right now
Btw, the registry setting seems to be:
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\0000101a
Value=1: disabled
Value=0: enabled
Desc.:Enable or disable the warning you get when opening a program that is not digitally signed

The problem with this cab (and another one I had found) is that, once the mobile goes berzerk, you can't install it because, of course, it's unsigned... Catch 22! Thanks anyway - and, by the way, superb site, added to my RSS aggregator at once!
Anyhow, I just applied the reg tweak (set to 0), reset, thing asks me to verify running unsigned start-up programs, I OK them, and then... still same problem! What the heck? There doesn't seem to be any other tweak...

It has to be set to 1 for disabling.. You set to 0?
Regards,
Carty..
Yes, I set it to 0; it was set to 1 (probably an earlier KaiserTweak session), but I actually wanted to get the prompt so that I could tell it that f*cking yes, I want to run/install the app!
Anyhow, been switching between 0 and 1 with no effect... Feel a hard reset coming on, but it's weird because I've found quite a few posts around (not necessarily here) and no solution...
Got the same problem after a white screen after hardspl, but changing the registry worked for me. Thanks, now I can try jumpspl.
Goodmorning to all of you...
I'm having a question..I have a compact IV now for a couple of weeks which is now fully customized with an original stock ROM from HTC but since a few days i'm not able to zoom with Opera..
what I mean is that when I search for a mobile website, it will open, but I can't zoom in or out with tapping on the screen...I already looked into the settings and that should be ok..the mobile view option is enabled...
I'm also using Advanced Config..had that something to do with this??
I hope somebody could help me with this, maybe i'm not the only one with this problem!
Thanxx everybody in advance
Jeroen
is there somebody who can help me with this???
not just you
i can't use it too !
Have you tried a soft reset?
Mostly when I have a problem this is solved by a soft reset.
Also turning off and on wil help often to problems that occur after some time.

Can you zoom by using the "wheel"? I mean by using a circular motion with your finger around the center button?

No, i'm not even able to use the wheel.. and a soft reset also doesn't work either.. also some text on the right hand side of the screen isn't aligned..maybe I can make a screenshot of it...
Which rom do you use? This might be the problem.
Remember when it worked for the last time?
If yes think about what you did after.
Maybe you installed a program which causes this.
Try to uninstall the program or programs if you did.
When you installed more then one delete one after each other and remember which program did make the problem to your browser and post it here.

Why not go to 1.93 its much faster and smoother.
This might also solve your problem.

Pirtje...as for the text overflowing on right side...Opera sometimes does not reposition text that are in tables of more than one cell (and possibly other times as well). If those items are in a table, that is most likely the cause.

Check that you have not got a tick in the 'mobile view' in settings. You can't zoom when that is checked.

I have the same problem and I'm sure, first it was possible to zoom in mobile view for me. When I zoomed in this mode the site zoomed in and text was broken to the new format after a few seconds. Now it is in fact only possible without mobile view, but this is not very usefull for me, because text is will not be reformated in this mode. Don't know what happend.
first uncheck the mobile view box......and then anywhere on the website double tap the screen and this will zoom in automatically and then start using the wheel to zoom in or out etc....this will auto format the text to fit the screen......the catch is to "double tap" on the screen first before using the scroll wheel otherwise the scroll wheel will not auto format the text to fit the screen......

Replace the xml file in \Program\Panels\GooglePanel with this attached file or edit your own and replace all iexplorer.exe with operaL.exe
exelent work.

Thank you. Very nice.

Opera was not meant to be available on the Xperia from the beginning - just in the last time of developement they decided to include it. But that is no excuse - the should have been able to make the panels use Opera even in that shorter time
This works great, big thanks!
Is it possible to do the same in messaging?
Everytime i open a link on my exchange account, failexplorer opens instead of opera.
Would be very very nice if you could change this to
Thnx, easy as pie, works like a charm!
Excellent, thank you, works without a hitch
Btw, is there a way to change "default browser" in the phone? Explorer keeps on popping upp all over the place when I click on link in messages and such...
Will try this now, thank you a million times!

shame as at least Vodafone were clever enough to get their panel to launch Opera by default for the webpages.
is there any way to completely disable gsensor/accelerometer?
Maybe you just want to disable the events it causes? What annoys you about it?
disable it by editing the registry.search on it for gsensor.dll and delete it.
i had disable it because after i crashed my phone gsensor was not working propperly anymore. :'(

hrmm does this help with battery life at all?
don't really use the g-sensor that often...
be useful when using tomtom if it does affect anything
I noticed that my phone locks up often when I am at work but no place else. I work on the 16the floor and I think it has to do with the altitude. That's the only thing I can figure. So I want to see if there is a way to temporarily disable the G Sensor.
Thank you!!!! I hate gsensor!

I deleted that reg entry and now my ATT Tilt2 doesn't go back to portrait when I close my phone when using messaging. I put the reg entry back hoping it would fix the issue but no luck. Note to self,,, always back up your registry.

Best question being asked here lol. I know this question was asked in 2010 but let me make things clear: What the hell is an android registry? It only exists in Windows. Also no Registry in Linux, MacOS X, DOS, BSD, iOS, Bada OS or Symbian available. There is just a build.prop in Android where you can set specific things for your kernel. That's it. Thank you guys for causing confusion!
PS: It is called Home Button. Stop confusing [email protected]
