Hey all,
using Duttys V3 at the moment, THANKS to Dutty for this great ROM...
been looking around quite a bit to find something that would suit my needs
and this one hit the spot...
I have been flashing quite a few ROMs the last couple of weeks and as
much as I like all the new things with the Topaz/Rhodium ROMs there is
ONE thing I'm not sure I can live without from the stock ROM and I can't
believe no one dumped and CABed it...
I like the new keyboard but my stocky fingers really miss the Compact
QWERTY Keyboard...
Has anyone been able to install a working CAB for the original Stock Keyboard
on a ROM containing the Topaz/Rhodium one? If so, care to direct me?
(I have searched and tried quite a few versions with no success.)
Bonus: To make it a tad more difficult... is there a language file supporting
Swedish T9 as well, it would make my day.
Best Regards,
Nik

Thanks. I bricked my Tmobile wing 2 days out of the box and all I had to do was follow the instructions to bring it back.
There are a myriad of ROM choices. Can somebody recommend one to start with . I want the touch stuff, the cube, Microsoft office, the eight button comm center. Id like to overclock a little, and free up some memory.
I dont need IM, tmobiles stuff...
Thanks again for the great forum.

I reccommend ITJE's TOUCH-IT rom or ASERG's ROM. I have used them both for prolonged periods of time and have been extremely pleased with both.

My First POST!!!
Howdy y'all.
Is there a place that gives good descriptions of all of the various features?
For example: What's the difference between Open Touch and Touch It?

test it. and ask you the question: what is the difference between AT&T, T-Mobile and O2...
all the same and completely different!
lol
Exactly. Each one has ups and downs but they play a part only in EACH individual's personal usage.
itje's TouchIT and ITsBlack are usually the latest and greatest in porting. Although, at the momment, we're all using the same build. Currently his newer builds are more about speed. His ROMs are Herald ROMs but you can switch the keyboard layout to almost completely match the Wing if you have a wing.
Ttran's Open Touch tend to go for functionality and pizaz. (sp!) They look good and do everything but wash your car. His ROMs are Wing ROMs but you can switch the keyboard layout to almost completely match the Herald if you have a wing.
Papamopps makes modded itje's ROMs that run a bit more to meet his needs. They tend to be very to the point and do their job without messing around. Like itje's, they're Herald ROMs.
Ivan: My clean series ROMs tend to be plain, clean, stripped down, no frills ROMs. No extra programs or features. I usually include both Herald and Wing versions with native keyboard drivers.
kidnamedAlbert makes the Carbon series, which are customized ROMs made in my kitchen. He's the newest member of the cooking crew, so we're expecting great things out of him.
Lastly, you can also use my kitchen to create a version of my own ROM with the apps you want.
But this "review" is not a review of ROMs but a "review" on the cooks who make them.
Forgive me if I forgot anybody.
i use open touch biggy 3.0..love it on my wing

you forget Aserg's rom
Also:
There's also PDAViets roms. This one is excellent:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364706
It was my Favorite until ttran's Open Touch Lite. Been using this one for a long while now and its the Best. I've tried alot of others but without Internet Sharing I'm dead in the water.
For my first flash I used TTran's Open-Touch ROM (3.0 Biggy), it was really nice for a first timer who doesn't have the experience needed to tweak things.
Once you play with your phone enough you'll become more comfortable with installing/tweaking programs and you may want different things out of your phone (biggy has every feature you can imagine), this is where the clean/lite roms come in with more storage for the apps you use & more customization.
I haven't tried Aserg's or PDAViet's, so unfortunately, I can't comment on them.
Oh yeah and lets not Forget:
umchriswho
Nice Omega Rom

I use open Touch and I love it. It was my first flash and I havent had any problems to make me look else where. My wing has been running 10 times better then when I had the stock rom. If you wait a little TTRAN is coming out with ver 4.0!
I have been using Aserg for a while now.. D
Duprade, Have you noticed the MMS working. Mine actually works.
Hi all.
Been reading this forum for a while, but only just decided to post.
I've seen a couple of cooked roms for the X1 which seem to be quite popular - one by jackleung and the other by itje.
I was wondering if anyone has an overview and comparison of the various roms available. It'd help somebody new like me to make an informed choice on which to install and weigh up the features available.
Thanks.
honestly, I tried the touch-HD 1.7 rom from Jack which is really complete but quite slow sometimes so I finally took the lite one 1.4 and then add the touch HD as a panel and now I have to say that it's much faster and smooth that anything I've tried before...

i would say its user preference. flash each rom and c which one best fits your needs.
I'd have to agree i tried all 3 of itje's roms and i only liked one. Since there are few custom roms for the xperia u can just try them all. If this was the touch pro thread i'd say we need some sort of chart
x1 will be x1...
rom without penal but touch flo, it seems a hd's rom...
no penal is okay,'cause we could install it by ourselves...
how about use the original rom of X1...
i get the rom kitchen, but i have no idea to cook rom..
I think its a great question, and a good idea for ppl to exchange thoughts about the different X1 ROMz. Without criticize the cooks ofc.
Hey everyone
My x1i broke a while back and se is finally sending me a new one an x1a. i never used custom roms before I just had spb 3.0 which i liked. Now with my new phone coming tomorow i thought i would dive into the rom scene and I am trying to understand all the different roms that are out on xda.
I Was wondering if there is a thread that explain all the different roms, manila, titanium, touch-it etc etc. I cant seem to understand what each does. Is there any threads that reviews the various roms??
Can anybody recommend a rom ?? just want a stable, good looking UI, camera improvements, youtube working and all the other cool features

I suggest that you read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=471 and, while you're at it, you can choose which ROM you would want to try and download it. I recommend trying Agent_47, Smaberg, NRGZ and Jackleung's ROM's as they are the best chef's out here in this forum. Flashing new ROM is so much fun and, at least for myself, quite addicting!
Laurence,
Thx for the info. From looking around again dosent seem to be a "nice" thread that discuesses the various features of different roms, but
Agen_47's Valkyrie_v2.8 FireStorm Looks pretty damn nice,
Smaberg's Xperia Touch X - isent that one outdated as last update was in like march
NRGZ - Cant find his rom
Jackleung's V4.0 Full - sounds good but no pictures reallly showing what it looks like and such, Like the dialer, big thing for me is an improved dialer cause i think the one on win 6.1 provides really is hard to use and small buttons.
So what you think?? Valkyria is the way to go ??
touch x was final wm 6.1 rom... smaberg is working now on wm 6.5 roms... but imho touch x is best wm 6.1 rom around... didnt find better... i kinda dont like wm 6.5
hi, i just got my x1 a few weeks back and im looking to upgrade the rom and what i realized is it involves many more steps than what was required for my universal before?
i upgraded the official rom via the SD card method and that worked like a charm. But what i dont know is which rom can i upgrade to on my x1... as it seems that they are all based on R2... R3... etc?
so what im lookin for is a fast and simple answer on which roms i can upgrade on my x1. The method is not a problem. The rom selection is. And plus, which is the best rom you would recommend?
thankx
The best way is, imho:
Check the threads here. In each, you can find a description of the ROM,
a discussion about possible bugs and solutions, and recommendations from
the xda community.
Basically, you can flash any ROM you will find here. Some like the newest,
more "unofficial" builds of WinMo 6.5 with the Windows start menu at the
bottom, others prefer the "official" build with the menu at the top.
Again others prefer either a Windows only ROM, some Manila 2.1, some the
"latest" version 2.5, these are from the "Leo".
Almost the same applies to the radio/rilphone version.
If you have some spare time, make your own trials - start maybe with the
ROMs from agent_47, NRGZ28, spikegotti, itje, MrRusch... and soon, you
will have your very own, personal preferred solution.
thanks. another question? what is "manila"? unfimiliar with this term.

Manila is the user interface by HTC, which seems to be a favorite of many
X1 users here at xda - there are many ROMs which are cooked with it.
Version 2.5 is taken from the upcoming Leo model, while 2.1 is from other
models, such as Rhodium and Topaz - those are the closest to the X1 from
hardware specifications. One kind of a "disadvantage" in the perception of
some users in the 2.5 version is missing landscape support for virtually all
functions, while 2.1 is fully landscape.
Manila brings eye candy, but also finger friendliness to WinMo devices. You
can easily recognize it with the big digital clock at the home screen.

I'd like to point out that the 2.5 version seems to be a little heavy for the X1.
The manila 2.1 from Rhodium\Topaz have a nice look & feel to them. Also battery life is VERY good with these versions (3 to 6 days on a single charge, depending on how you use your X1). Manila 2.1 does not have the Facebook and Twitter tabs, and has different Favorite and Home screen layouts.
My advise would be to go with a manila 2.1 ROM. My personal favorit is the FireStorm Rhodium\TOPAZ by Agent_47. It's loaded with lots of extra programs, and runs very stabile.
Excelent everyday use!
FireStorm Rhodium\TOPAZ by Agent_47? will give that a try? the htc leo is the HD 2 yes? and thanks for the clarification on the manila. been a great help. Is there much difference in the manila and the touch flo 3d cab? the cab seems to be stable too... and im not a big fan of wm6.5. ive never tried it before... how much free ram is there after the update?

Manila is actually a nickname of what was called TouchFlo3D earlier, and to
complete the confusion, you will maybe read "Sense" sometimes, too. In fact,
that is again the same. Most people here use "Manila" and versions 2.1/2.5.
To install Manila with a cab is definitely quite a fast procedure, but the real
performance of your device will not be as fast as possible - even if stable.
The free RAM is different from ROM to ROM, lower WinMo "pure" ones are
somewhat around 30% memory usage, the lowest Manila ROMs are at
around 35-40% with 2.1, 45-55% with Manila 2.5 - but then again, this is
different from ROM to ROM.
In the sum, maybe a Touch X 10.8.2 or agent´s "Photon" ROM (standard)
could be a good point to start.
Once your are happy, the chef most probably will not be unhappy if you
take care of his/her donation fund...
Happy flashing!
thanks buddy uve been a great help. one last question, i have just upgraded my rom using the micro sd method. if i wanted to go back to my wm 6.1 official R3A rom which was released a lil over a week back, could i use that .nbh file to downgrade as if upgrading?
what im trying to ask is i just put the R3a rom file in my formatted sd card and load the phone in boot loader more and let the magic happen or a more complex process is required like backin up and restoring stock rom?

Hey, been a while since i modded my old X1.
Atm its using a energyrom from august.
Im looking for a good rom with the touchflo interface, but still not slow as many roms are.
Ive tried a few who works really good, but those are without the "manilla" or what you call it.
Can anyone suggest a good rom that is fast and responsive and above all - stable! but still uses the tf3d stylish interface?
Merry Christmas!
since august happend alot
i like the new itje roms like "touchIT 11" or "touch it black". those use manila 2.5 and wimo 6.5
agent47s valkyrie roms are very fast and there is a new touch x from from mr rush (10.9.1) out.
just to name a few
u have a lot to discover

I'd suggest Valkyrie 5.2 if your looking for a stylish and fast working Manilla (TouchFlo3D) 2.5 rom
itje's Touch-It v11 or Black are also very good, but Valkyrie seemed more responsive to me.

I don't think the newer Valkyrie roms are fast..at least, on my phone they are slow. Still love them though
I would advice Touch IT, every single one of them is a masterpiece!
Hy!
I've tried a lot of ROMS. I don't really use Manila interface but it looks nice. Now it's called HTC Sense as I've seen in Home Settings.
The fastest one I've tried is this: LEO 2.01 Rom port and 1'st ROMANIAN ROM for X1 Devices @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=604786.
This one seems to be fastest I've tried so far. I love Agent's ROMS, but HTC Sense isn't as fast from what I've seen.
I don't know if you'll have any issue with it as being a romanian ROM (from what I've seen seems to be in english). I can't use my phone in Romanian because I don't understand ). After 10 years of using PC and phone in english I find it hard using them in Romanian.
If you flash it and you won't like it I suggest using Agent's ROM. That's what I got now and I'm happy!
If you want to have the normal Windows Mobile 6.5 bottom taskbar (the one that doesn't stay on top of programs few pixels), you should flash a 21xxx version. If you can live without some pixels and you want your phone to be more finger friendly you shoul check 28xxx versions
Cheers!
Cheers! Hope this helped you!
