I have just installed Opera Mini 4 Beta 2 on my Tilt.
I'd like to use it as my default browser, however it's annoying that every time I open it I get asked if I really want to allow it to connect because it is an "untrusted application".
I have an unlimited data plan, so I want to change it to be a "trusted" application so I don't have to tell the Tilt it is ok to use every time I open it.
Sorry for the newb question. I didn't see a lot on a search.
Thanks!

Hey, that's perfect! Thanks, you rock!
Ok, after trying everything in that thread I am still having some issues and it appears that there is at least one other guy that can't get it to work on the Kaiser (I have the Tilt).
I've tried hex editing the selector.utf file myself as well as downloading the fix.exe file that is provided in that link and neither one works.
I have the Opera Mini browser mapped to the PIE button just fine, but the problem is getting the "untrusted" thing to go away.
When I change the selector.utf file so that the line reading "domain=untrusted," is now "domain=tckmax ," when I press the PIE button I get an error that says:
"Could not find suite s0_"
However, I can see that the s0_suite.utf file is in my appdb directory.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
ETA: I've seen some mention "cloudyfa's" jbed will work. Where can I get that jbed? Search turned up nothing.
Anyone?
I haven't been able to get this to work. I think it has to do with the jbed that I am running (stock jbed that came with the tilt).
The only info I could seem to find was that some guy named cloudyfa has a custom jbed that will get rid of the "untrusted" warning, but searching hasn't come up with anything on cloudyfa.
Can anyone help point me to a jbed that will work?
Thanks!
have you tried kaiser tweak, there is a function to disable warning.

OK, you can't just replace "untrusted" with "tckmax". you have to pad it with spaces to the same length. I.e. replace "untrusted" with "tckmax ". That will eliminate the "cannot find S0_..." issue. However, I do that, and I still get the nag messages.
OK, the tckmax fix seems not to work for my stock java Esmertec JBed that was on the Kaiser ROM. I installed this Cloudyfa version (which has a different/more recent build date) and voila, it works now without the nag...Thanks for the link to the latest version!
Can you copy your quick launch icon for me? I just cant seem to get the .ink to work. I dont know is it that TC cant make it right, i read it somewhere.
Well, you can't just copy someone's because it depends on what other java apps you have installed on your phone.
but the easiest way to create one is to simply use a Notepad to create simple text file. And it should only contain the following text:
28#"\windows\jbed.exe" -run s1_
BUT you may need to edit it and replace the S1_ with something else. if this is the only Java app you have installed and used, then most likely you want to use S0_ in place of S1_.
Name it Opera.lnk (or whatever you want it to say).
And then copy it to your "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" folder.
Thanks to you guys who figured this out. This one of the little annoying things
that ticked me off. I'd have to first: click on the java shortcut, then click on opera mini, then click on yes to permissions, then yes to connect.
Now I just click on the Opera mini shortcut and BOOM! Up and going, plus I have the IE button reassigned as Opera Mini
THANKS!

Tried that, only thing i get is a non working .ink file. Closest ive got on creating the working quick launcher is with TC. It just opens the java applet and says could not find suite s0_.
I think the easiest way would be if some one is kind enough to copy me the working file. I have the Cloudyfa's EsmertecJbed intalled and it is s0_ where it needs to point to. I got rid of the nag, only thing that isnt working is the straight shortcut to open Opera.
i have'nt tried opera, but has anyone tried installed the kaiser tweak, there is a function to disable security warnings.

Attached for S0_. Had to ZIP it so can upload.
Never used KaiserTweak. But I did get the nags to stop via my actions above. Not sure if KT would eliminate it.
Thanks, that one worked straight away. Strange, but it must be that what a read in some post about Total Commander not doing the shortcut right.
Any ideas is it possible to get a quick launch button straight to Opera on TrayLnch?
Anyone? Is it possible?

BTW, Kaiser Tweak doesn't suppress these security messages. Its a different kind of msg it suppresses.
did anyone ever get this to work for mini 4.2? I've been battling it for a couple hours now with no success. I've tried editing the utf file, but I always still get the untrusted app and network access prompt. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi guys I have to use PTT for work and for some gawdawful reason HTC made the PTT icon a little yellow smiley face when its on, no they could just make a button that said PTT or something they had to use a smiley face and just looking at the face angers me. I dug around and I found a "hidden" file in the windows directory called PTTService.dll I opened it, found the icon resource, created a new icon, imported it, saved it and when I tried to put it on my machine I got an error that I don't have permission to do that.
I've pretty much hit a wall, I thought I'd done the hard part but I guess not, anyone have ideas? I don't wanna screw with the ROM because its a company phone.
You'll need to disable the dialer skin, and the PTT service through the registry, and soft reset so that the dll isnt actively loaded in memory. then you'll need to sign your dll with a certificate like the sdk certs, and load that cert onto your phone, then overwrite it and set the ptt service and dialer skin to load, and you should be golden..
I bet I could figure out how to do the registry thing, but the cert part makes my brain explode!
The attached app will sign any .exe or .dll with the Windows Mobile SDK Certs (use SDKSamplePriv)
Then copy SDKSamplePrivDeveloper.cer to your device and run it like a cab.
The signing process will fail if the file is already signed, first you need to strip the signature.. it will also fail if readonly, the solution to that is obvious
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2508061 <--- that app will strip the signature
Sorry its been so long to revisit this post, but I had to give a intro to Fuze and Win Mobile to all our Corporate users who all just got them recently and I wanted mine to look and act like theirs until I gave that presentation.
So I finally created the icon to replace that horrid smiley face, I created it with Microangelo (I couldn't believe I still had that app after like 5 years) and used PEXplorer to open the .dll, its PTTService.dll actually, and edit the resource, then change the icon and it worked! I only changed the small icon one because that's the one I see. (32x32 8 bit)
So I got a trial (15 day) of MemMaid and turned off the services for PTT and Keypad and set them to Manual Start, restarted the Fuze and they were off.
I think from here I am almost golden, I just couldn't figure out the signing part, because after I overwrote the PTTService.dll on the device (it warned it was on ROM etc) and tried to use MemMaid to start the service and put it on Auto Start, upon reset only the Keypad was working and the PTT was on Auto Start but wouldn't start unless I did it manually, and when I replaced it back with the original it did Auto Start so I think I signed it wrong.
Heres what I did I downloaded that extracted the linked file (by Da_G), then I had a folder called Sign_msigner, I ran siggner.exe chose the PTTService.dll that I created and it appeared to work because I got a text doc saying:
"Warning: This file is signed, but not timestamped.
Succeeded"
so I replaced it, did the MemMaid thing and it wouldn't Auto Start, so I though Oh I forgot to do that certificate thing, so I coped the SDKSamplePrivDeveloper.cer from the Tools folder onto the Fuze, ran it, and that worked because I had a certificate in my certificates area of the Fuze (was only good until 12/31/08 it says) and tried it again and still no luck, can you guys give me some more great advice, I'm so close!!
It sounds like you did everything right, check the "Certificates" menu under settings to make sure the certificate you signed it with did load..
When a .dll is loaded as a driver (in HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn) signing it via this process won't work because those drivers are loaded before the certificate store is vetted.. but I don't think PTTService.dll loads there..
I didn't see anything in there except under the Intermediate tab and it says issues by: TEST USE ONLY - Sample Privileged Root.... expires: 12/31/09
I think that's in there tho because I ran that SDKSamplePrivDeveloper.cer on the Fuze myself (or is that what i was supposed to do), I don't think it started when it tried to load the PTTService.dll
I attached the dll, is there a way to check it?
Also there's 2 files in the tools folder called signcode.exe and signtool.exe, I didn't use these for anything, should I have.
Looks good, not sure why its not loading.
Might need to tool with the security settings, check this post for a good read on the subject:

You can get the tool itself here
i know we have a few applications that allow us to use our phone's screen and keyboard to control our computer, and while it is cool, it's just not something that i have a use for currently. i was wondering if there were any apps that you know of that allow me to have a window on my comp that is my home screen on my phone and control things on the phone from the comp. i hate when i am working on my themes and i get 100 texts and i have to go from using the comp it using the phone and back and forth. WM had several apps like that and i loved them when i was running windows but now i run linux(ubuntu 8.10) and i would love to be able to type texts and run apps on my phone while using the computer keyboard.
i have looked through the market and can't seem to find anything on there and i was hoping someone could point me to one elsewhere or if i missed one on the market. thanks in advance
That would be cool. A VNC Server has already been ported to iPhone, so it's probably not too difficult for someone who knows what they're doing (i.e, not me =P)
It would definitely be great to be able to type text messages and whatnot using the computer's keyboard and screen instead of that tiny little G1 keyboard.
or if there are some commands i can run from adb shell that would work too, all i have been able to figure out how to do is play an mp3 on the phone by typing the command. cool but not what i would like.
alright, for those that care i have figured out how to start an app on the phone by using the adb shell commands, and i can even start to compose a text if i do it correctly
to start the messaging app you need to type in the adb shell(or android terminal but the point is to be able to do it from the comp
adb shell
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.mms/com.android.mms.ui.ConversationList
the above line brings up the conversation list to allow you to choose a list, but i have yet to figure out how to atually pick a convo from that page
to bring up the compose message to start a new text type in the following
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.mms/com.android.mms.ui.ComposeMessageActivity
from there i can input the number to send the message to but not what i want the text to say,
input text <string> #that inputs a single word and no more after the word text
so if i were to type
'input text hello android' my phone would act as if i had just typed hello, this also works on the home screen to search your contacts. i am working on in[utting more than one word and also choosing your conversation from the comp
Cool! nice progress. Maybe other Android intents can be used...
progress
i know i can start any app by knowing the commands for it now and typing it in. but for right now my main concern is getting a multi word string to appear in the text box. if i can get that then i just need to figure out how to attach "input keyevent 66" to it as well so it runs cleanly. key 66 is the enter key and i figured out several others along the way but i will list them later. i pulled the input file from the /system/bin directory and maybe someone else should have a look at it and figure out how to acheive multi word texts without placing "_" between all the words, cause right now that's where i'm at. i'm attaching the file for the guru's to take a look at. obviously it isn't saved as a .txt file on the phone but that's how i uploaded it to here.
CALLING THE ANDROID GURU'S TAKE A LOOK AT THIS
Cool. Once you figure out a bunch of commands, I could try making a user interface for it as a project...
just wanna drop this lines here, there is an app from motorola MPT Motorola Phone tools, and it does all that you want and more, the phone can be connected to the pc via USB or Bluetooth... you can send receive msg, phone calls, see and edit contacts, drop images, ringtones browse the files etc

Im not sure if you know that your posting in a forum dedicated to the G1/android but MPT supports, as the name would suggest, motorola phones only.

yeah I know, my bad.. just wanted to put an example of an app (that of course is only for motorola) for any1 wanting to do something like it
i know there's several out there for different phones, but nothing for android. hell i'd be satisfied if i could just have the emulator read from my phone and let me control it that way. right now i don't like what i have to do to send a text
input text hello
input keyevent 62
input text android
input keyevent 66
that is a whole lot of typing for a simple text that says "hello android" and then sends it
would it be possible to write a program that takes what you type and breaks it into one word or one letter segments and runs the proper keyevent for each charecter there?
from what i remember of my programming in java and visual basic from years ago is that it would basically be set to read an input and use a case method to say if $input=="hello" then adb shell input text hello. it would be easier i would assume to just break it down into words and place "adb keyevent 62" between each word to input the spaces, and at the end of the line of input you would have to have the code "input keyevent 66"
i have the keyevent mapped out for each button and such on the phone if anyone is interested. i will see what i can come up with on my own though for now
Hope!
I would <3 who ever release's this in some form or another =)
I could really use an application that lets me use my phone from my computer. Preferably it'd show the desktop of the phone, and allow remote access to all the features.
I don't know if it's possible, but it sounds like some of you are progressing, so I hope for the best.
that is the goal, but right now i think i want to just get a java script written by the end of the week next week that reads the key i press on the computer and inputs it into the phone. so i have a lot of relearning to do since i haven't written javascript in 4 years and even then it was just simple stuff to be run in a console. if someone wants to take whatever i get done and run with it to make a FREE APP then by all means. if i find my work in a paid app then you better hope the US gov't can't find you cause i'll be at your door ready to kick your ass.
i'm not sure how one would go about coding the computer to display the phone desktop, but however it gets done i would prefer it to be written in java so all users of linux, mac, and windows can use it.
alright i have found a program that allows me to display the phone screen on the computer using java *hooray* but it does not switch to landscape when the phone does, and i can't control the phone from the app. it was written so that people could do presentations with the phone instead of using the emulator. the gist of it is described here
http://groups.google.com/group/cw-android/browse_thread/thread/d2dbcabee6bcba1a
i have already emailed the developer asking politely to see the code and for permission to try and run with it to make the ideal app. at this point the only thing i could come up with would be to make a javascript that had a case for each key on the keyboard and when a key is pressed it sends the corresponding command(adb shell input keyevent ##) to the phone. this would work fine to use the arrow keys to control the phone, and i am not sure how to code the mouse into it yet. i will be waiting for a response from the dev hopefully he will give his permission and blessing for us to use the app.
Tubaking182,
Perhaps I could offer some help. Brad Fitz has written a program that injects keys into the Linux input layer. Perhaps the source code to his project can help you. It appears to contain a key code map. Here is the link to his code:
http://github.com/bradfitz/android-misc/blob/master/type.pl
Also, here is a link to his live journal entry regarding his program.
http://brad.livejournal.com/2400054.html
All of this would be wonderful to have with my G1. I wish all involved the best of luck!
the developer of the program i posted gives his blessing but he claims what we are trying to do is impossible without certain firmware. he claims that android does not support remote control. i have already proven it can be done though but you have to use keyvalues instead of the mouse. i don't know much java, but i know i need a case switch that executes adb shell input keyevent when i press a key on the computer. if someone wants to tell me the proper syntax and java command to run a run a command then awesome i can write this up *hopfully* and start testing it.
would it work if i typed it as
int key = evt.getKeyCode();
switch (key){
case 65: run.exec(adb shell input keyevent 29);
break;
what would be the proper way to execute the adb command

I've been doing Java for about 4 or 5 years now, nothing to fancy, but anyway,
Code:
int key = evt.getKeyCode();
switch (key)
{
case 65:
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("adb shell input keyevent 29"); // I dont know if this is what you "run" variable is referring to. and you would need quotes around your command as it takes a String parameter.
break;
I have a few hundred text files in a folder on my SD card, and I need some way of searching across them. For instance, if I search for 'balloon', it needs to returns the names of the files that contain the word 'balloon', not in the filename, but in the text.
Bonus points if it would allow for wildcards, or allow me to open the result files in an editor or viewer.
Does anyone know of something like this? It's basically a frontend to 'grep' along with a simple GUI.
EDIT: Oh, and before someone mentions it...Aurora does NOT do this. It can search the filenames, but not within the text files.
An up from a dusty cupboard
Very old thread, up !
I'm looking for a command in Android shell, to do the same job as "grep" for Linux/UNIX ?
Someone got an alternative ?
Thanks
Hi all, i have a question with the battery calibration app step..
2. Navigate to sys>devices>platform>ds2784-battery>setreg>long press>open in text editor, then:
a. set your aEvolts to 3201 (type 0x66 a4 in setreg & save/exit)
i have no problem finding the file but when i go to it and long press how do i open in text editor.. i tried a few different text editor apps and it didnt seem to help i get an error.. thnx
i got the file to open with quick office but it seems blank.. is it supposed to be?
im 90% sure its not supposed to be blank im having the same problem. Ive tried to open the file with 2 text editing programs and its still blank so idk what to do from there.
It's supposed to be blank. You enter the register data into the blank file and save it, and that sends the command to the battery.
Root explorer is what I use, long press, open in text editor.
But we are working on updating the app with setreg so you can just do it easier from the app rather than needing to use setreg. Coming soon.
i can't find the path:
Navigate to sys>devices>platform>ds2784-battery>setreg
i'm using and explorer
you must be running one of the supported kernels to see the file in ds2784. cyan, pershoot, etc. which kernel are you running?
Hey, all work for me now. I'm now in the Tread from you signature active.
