FAQ & How To
Information on using Android on the Diamond 2.
More information is also available on the WiKi
F.A.Q.
Q. Why is my touchscreen not calibrated properly?
A. Delete the "ts-calibration" file in the XDAndroid root and start haret.exe again, touch properly the 5 white dots on the boot-up sequence.
Q. Why is my led blinking between orange and green, and what those colors means?
A. Green - phone is sleeping, Orange - phone is awake. Blinking between this 2 colors means that the device is not sleeping properly or is doing something in the background ( checking for emails,... )
Q. Why when I return to WM my time is messed up?
A. Android uses a different way to tell time, causing Windows Mobile to change to another time (For example, if you are GMT -5 it will be 5 hours ahead, if you are GMT +5 it will show 5 hours behind.)
Q. Why am I stuck on the lockscreen?
A. Try tapping the power button once, then unlocking. The device thinks the screen is off.
Q. How do I install an .APK file from my PC?
A. Create a folder called "AndroidApps" on your storage card and place your file there.
Q. Why cant my phone find any network?
A. Change "force_cdma=1" in the STARTUP.TXT to "force_cdma=0".
Q. Why wifi doesn't work in Android?
A. Before booting into Android throught haret.exe, switch "on" the wifi in WinMo.
Q. How do i return to WinMo after booting into Android?
A. You could hold the "end call" key and press "Power off", or at the back remove the stylus and press the little red button.
Q. Why HARET freezes/hangs on execution?
A. Be sure to use the latest zImage, rootfs, initramfs and to run you TD2 at stock CPU speeds ( not overclocked, in most cases this cause the problem ).
Q. Why does the end call button has the same function as the power button and how do i fix this?
A. The key mapping was changed in a recent rootfs release, to sort that out go into the Main Menu -> SpareParts and select the "End button behaviour" to be "Go Home".
Q. Why I have no sound on incoming calls & the other person can't hear me?
A. A little workaround until this get fixed is: after android boots, first, call someone (you can call yourself too ), after that all subsequent calls should be ok.
More coming soon.

Usefull Startup.txt commands ( copy cmds without quotes ):
Overclocking
"acpuclock.oc_freq_khz=XXXXXX" - Used for overclocking your cpu ( example: "acpuclock.oc_freq_khz=650000" is 650 MHz / 650 000 kHz ) - Use it at your own risk!!!
Setting another folder as your Android root
"rel_path=place here the folder name" - If you dont want to put XDAndroid in your SD root you can put it in another folder ( It is recommended that you call this folder "andboot" and not "Android", example: you created a folder named "andboot" in the root of your SD for XDAndroid, add this to your startup.txt "rel_path=andboot" )
Onscreen terminal keyboard
"msmvkeyb_toggle= (on/off)"
on = displays terminal onscreen keyboard
off = hide terminal onscreen keyboard
Headset
"snd.force_headset=X"
1=USB headset
2=3.5mm headset
Incall volume adjust
"htc_hw.call_vol=X"
0-5
0=being lowest and 5=being loudest
Enable/Disable handsfree
"htc_hw.handsfree=X"
1=Enable
0=Disable
Recommended best loud and clear voice values are said to be 5/1
"htc_hw.call_vol=5"
"htc_hw.handsfree=1"
Disable low battery Warning
"htc_battery_smem.fake=1"

How to install and run Android on your TD2
Installation:
First step and the most important be sure to backup all your valuable data from your SD card
Before downloading anything be sure that your SD card is formated in FAT32 file system and you have enough space ( min. 512mb, recommended 1024mb )
Download the latest bundle build here [Post 4]
Download the system only package ( if bundle is from a newer date then system only then skip this step ) here, rename it to system.ext2 if needed and overwrite it with the one from the bundle package
Unzip the contents of the .zip file
Copy all contents of the unzipped file to the ROOT of your Storage Card or in ANDBOOT folder ( be sure to add then "rel_path=ANDBOOT" in startup.txt between quotations )
Copy the STARTUP.txt located in STARTUP CONFIG->TOPAZ folder to the root of your SD card or in the ANDBOOT folder
It should look like this:
/Storage Card/
/AndroidApps/
/conf/
/media/
/STARTUP CONFIG/
/STARTUP.TXT
/haret.exe
/initrd.gz
/rootfs.img
/system.ex2
/zImage
Running Android:
Browse to your storage card and open/run the file Haret.exe
On the first boot android will ask you to tap 5 white dots for touchscreen calibration
Wait for Android to be completely up and running

Tips & Media
General info & tips
Data Image ( data.img ) is where all your settings, apps,... basically everything you have done to customise your android experience is stored there. Deleting it will result in losing all of settings, apps,...
To setup your ringtones create you need to create a folder tree:
/sdcard/media/alarms
/sdcard/media/notifications
/sdcard/media/ringtones
To change the keyboard language and layout to qwerty, hold down ( long press ) any text box to get other options and select android. You can also change it from the settings page.
To get a better & faster GPS location time be sure to run QuickGPS and update the satellites before going to Android.

It's good to see someone starting this project.
Just like we need a good HardSPL, we also need android on our shiny new diamonds. I just hope that we can get somewhere with it and some more devs pick it up as the phone becomes more popular.
Why not using the Touch HD files???

Agreed, hardware-wise I think the HD is the closest to the TD2 among the "older" htc models.
Appart from the slider bar and the buttons (sensistive on the HD, mechanical on the TD2), I think the hardware and screen resolution are exactly the same....
The Diamond version still seems to be the one that boots at least into console. The HD version does not get past haret.
Got My D2 and can't wait for progress on this to start. Big Kudos to all that will be and are working on this on the D2 and other phones. I'm just sad I have no way or knowledge to help.
Me too... me too... I keep checking back every day for a HardSPL, and news on the Android front.

Everyday... Only... I check like every 5 min..... lol..... more like every 4 hrs but whos keeping track?
Android is Linux based and open source, right?
So will you start charging when it is released? I hope not.
Will there be some kind of Kitchen where we can start figuring possibility of porting it to other devices?
No, and if anyone here charges for it, I would really be cautious of it. Android is open source from google. And it has already been ported (more or less) to the Kaiser, Vogue, Diamond, Raphael, Touch HD and quite possibly more.

Hope this works as planned... The thing is, hardware-wise, the D2 is similar to both the TouchHD and to the original Diamond. Now my problem is obtaining this thing in CDMA. Now only if HTC listened to its users .

To be fair, the Touch HD port has stalled at an early stage.
There seem to be major problems at a deeper hardware level (Too complex for me to understand). So it might not ever happen.....

Don't think anyone's working on this yet but I dumped the mddi client capabilities struct found in mddi_probe() of mddi.c. Looks like we've got a new mddi client manufacturer (Mfr_Name=B9F6).
Full dump here:
http://pastebin.com/f365f22a6
Thought I should explain this a little... This is the reason why the framebuffer does not work at the moment. The manufacturer ID is not in any published linux driver code at the moment so we can't just drop in another driver. First things first, we need to find out the make and model of the mddi client, pedroo said he'd get some pics of the PCB/LCD so hopefully we'll be able to get some model numbers.
One mddi client chip which is capable but I haven't been able to find any information on is the Samsung S6D05A0. Long shot but does anyone have an account with Samsung they can use to get the data sheet?

09.04.09 - Info on v5.06:
This rom is using the new runCC from HTC, wich means that the old customization is byebye..well, not totaly, but its improved.
When the rom boots up, you will come to the screenalignment...but you might not be able to finsih it, the device might reboot, but dont worry...
If so, you will get to screenalignment again, this time you will be able to finish it, but do not wait to long, cause runCC has a timer buildt in, so be ready to do the setup, or else you will reboot again...
This is both a bug and not a bug, Im on to fixing it in future release.
Why did I implement this and not keep the old system???
runCC has many benefits, but its mostly for chefs, since it makes the use of provxml files in packages obsolete.. (dont pm me and ask for it, I releasing it in "share center" with a tutorial when its ready for release)
But what you guys are gonna notice, is that this process is more easy on ram and storage...thus speed and stability..and so on...
Edit: In this rom you must run Connection setup manualy.
you find it in start men/settings/connections
have fun
EDIT: Did some finetuning on runCC in fixed version..
ADD-ONS:
-New cabs from SE:
-radiopanel
-mediapanel
-some new untested
-opera

How to get the Touch-IT Xperience:
Hard-SPL is needed if you wanna flash custom roms
-Info on Hard-SPL here
My tips on how to flash a custom rom:
-Do not let battery be below 50%
-Keep the device on a secure location (so that it wont fall and loose connection to your pc during flash)
-Enter bootloader (rainbowscreen) pressing power button and volume down simultaneously (hold the buttons untill you enter bootloader)
-Connect to pc (activesync)
-Run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe and follow onscreen instructions
Flash via micro-sd method
-Originaly posted by Jackleung
-Make sure x1 is hard-spl first
-Make sure your micro-sd is formatted w/ fat-32
-rename the image file (normally "ruu_signed.nbh") to Kovsimg.nbh, copy that to the micro-sd, and put that on your X1's sd-card
-Bring x1 to boot-loader mode by turning off the x1 completely. Hold the "volume down" button on the right, and hold the power on button until you see the tri-color screen.
-Then follow the on-screen instruction

Fixes, Bugs & Cabs:
See next two posts
Fixes:
1. SMS issue - not required in 5.061
1 in 3 not notifying (credit to Reborg/Fards here)
Delete key:
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\SMS\Rules\{D4A11236-895F-4115-8E43-08A424851F7F}
Or install this cab
2. MyFaves
For T-Mobile USA with a MyFaves package only
(May work in other countries with MyFaves)
Install this cab and soft reset.
NB I can't test properly as I'm not on the above so would appreciate feedback on this. Will install on any but sit on refreshing per above unless it can check with T-Mob that you have entitlement. After soft reset will hide the tab if you don't have this (NB can reeneble by going to HKCU\Sftware\HTC\Manila\Manila://myfaves.page.hidden and set to 0)
3. Video calling: - not required in 5.061
Install this cab (credit to Fards)
NB orientation is incorrect - you can correct on input side with below cab but this apparently corrupts sent image:
Videocall fix final.cab
NB this will stop the battery indicator from working - install one of the numerous battery replacements (Finixnover linked below, more in Dev & Hacking)
4. Fix Longpressendkey:
Add this link
5. Advanced network functionality:
Install this
6. RSK functionality not retained:
Add this to \Windows
Known issues:
1. Music playback via phone speaker not available in standby (this is a power-saving feature, not considered a bug).
2. Search bar in internet tab opens IE instead of Opera
3. Audiobooster not linked to menu in music tab
4. Small number of users reporting incorrect timestamps on SMS - add this key (credit to bites):
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting]
"TrustTimeZoneField"=dword:00000000
5. Small number of users reporting Streaming Media Player crashes on full screen - install this
6. Small number of users reporting audio playback halts after x seconds - try these cabs
7. FM Radio not workinf - install HTC FM Radio cab - NB HTC FM Radio and MxP can not be installed at the same time as MxP calls the FM radio (not a bug) - one or the other or use the old MxP
8. Can't close opera in task manager:
HKCU\Software\HTC\TaskManager\ExclusiveList\System and delete Opera9.exe.
9. No upload from Album - use Facebook app.
10. (thanks to jack) Youtube app may be unable to connect for at&t/Cingular users - delete the "wireless.cingular.com:80" from the following: HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{EF097F4C-DC4B-4c98-8FF6-AEF805DC0E8E}\HTTP-{436eF144-B4FB-4863-A041-8F905A62C572}\Proxy
11. (thanks to jack) IGO8 may not detect rom's device type and crash. put the following in sys.txt:
[device]
type="ALIAS_XPERIA"
Tweaks:
Add your own city to weather tab:
Credit to turnstar
1. Copy 2330fc3c_manila from your windows directory onto your PC
2. Download SQLite Administrator.
3. Download WeatherDatabaseEditor 1.2 and install to your device (you won't actually be using this but it adds a reg key that is essential to making this work. (I'm not sure what it adds but this is what the orig instructions I read said to do))
4.Open the manila file using SQLite Administrator on your PC (make sure you select all files when trying to open or it wont show up) then select the "Edit Data" tab and highlight cities in the tree on the left, all you gotta do now is pick a city you'd never use and edit the CityName, Country and accuweathercode to match the city you plan to add.
5. Place the edited copy of 2330fc3c_manila into your windows directory and soft reset the device.
6. Go into the TF3D weather tab and select your city from the list (this will also add your city to the calender tab)
Enable proper encoding for accented letters in Opera on installed version:
Copy encoding.bin from \Application Data\Opera9 to \Windows\Opera9 using Total Commander
Cabs:
For missing/requested apps
- R3a Panel Manager
- RSS Hub
- Fish panel (amended, working)
- FiNix Over Battery (shows %)
- Footprints
- Xperia XT9 Keyboard
- New SE Media panel (MxP)
- Slideshow panel
- GoogleSearch
- GooglePanel
- GoogleMaps
- GrowingPanel
- X1 FlashLite
- Opera 15969
- Xtrakt
- Sudoku

Reserved for inane comments thought up after getting back from the pub...
First the nice new; HTC Designed this so it must be cool. Startmenu
this gets rid of the programs tab (as it's a WOFT) and makes the startmenu fingerfriendly n stuff. I've set the top three as HOME/CONTACTS/SETTINGS. the icons are the included ones, they might not appeal to everyone, if they don't then you need to phone HTC and complain to their graphic artists.. Personally I think they're ace..
Okay here's cab for webpanel support, to get google/live and other html panels working properly.
I think it should work multilanguage, but probably won't, there's stuff in the Provxml to set the mui file (but there's no mui file in the 409 version)! so can't say it will work for anylanguage other than WWE.
Cabs at bottom of post..
If you want an easyway of enabling/disabling tf3d notifications/startmenu/rotation/bigmenus etc then try this program out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502102
if you're getting stuck on endless reboots
then try in order
A) hard reset.
B) remove the SD Card (it's likey something you have set up such as UC isn't working well with this)
C) remove the Sim
D) do all three..
It should take from SE logo disappearing to end of first reset about 1minute 40 seconds to set up.
If You want to stop opera running in the background all the time, then change in the registry HKLM/software/htc/PushInternetEngine/ Enable to 0 and soft reset.
**************ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SHOULD NOT BE NEEDED FOR 5.06x******************
I've also been playing and found a way of really speeding up manila (or so it seems to me and others who tested it).
See post #305 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3537851&postcount=305 *** not needed in 5.04/5.05 as it's included already.

Ok first bug for me.
Touch-IT provxml tweaks xml file is corrupt.
Oh and thanks, gonna be trying the 6.5 rom soon, but wanted to see what this was like first.
I think the error is from
<characteristic type="HKLM\Software\Opera\Preload" translation="filesystem">
<parm name="RealExit" datatype="integer" value="1"/>
It does not have a closing tag
Another bug here!
When I try to lock my screen (pressing the key button), I get the error that the file 'EndKey' cannot be opened... etc.
ops, send it through SMS as I saw this thread locked.
Can't activate Bluetooth, tells "no hardware present". Seems 21040 does not have bt xip, you need to use a previous or more newer one
Other than this, this rom looks great and it's also FAST!
Guess this is a silly question, but do we know if the sms issues of 4.5 are resolved? (I'm downloading now so i can flash and test, just curious!)
Reserved for something usefull...(I hope)
Please also provide ftp mirror...thanks guys

Thanks a lot for the time and effort Itje!
Judging from the screenshot the program tab is back in. Does this mean the old startmenu is back aswell? I really liked the start button linking to the program tab. Is there a way to remove the program tab and connecting it to the start button again?
Scoot CyanogenMod 6.1.2 RLS6
This is a build i have compiled from the official CyanogenMod source files and adapted for Kaiser/Vogue. Feel free to give it a go at your own risk!
All the usual things are working.
**THIS BUILD WORKS BEST WITH RECENT 2.6.32 KERNELS**
The build includes all the latest modules for the latest 2.6.32 kernels. If you wish to use an older kernel remember to apply the appropriate module update that goes with it.
I have attached kernels to this post which I personally use if you get stuck. There is a standard NBH which you can modify yourself with ATools with your choice of modifications or you can use the one I have already modified (Overclocked to 500mHz).
All of this is thanks to the guys working on the CyanogenMod roms and of course, none of this would work without all the hard work on the kernel so big thanks to dzo, l1q1d etc...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RLS4c :
Re-added YouTube app (Working a little better)
Removed HTC keyboard (available as an update)
Fixed Market
Fixed Android Keyboard text prediction
Updated Google Apps
Removed & added some sounds
Added CyanogenMod TS Calibration App
Added DSP Manager
Merged latest changes from CyanogenMod repo
RLS 5a:
Updated ADW Launcher 1.3.3
Messaging/Phone sliders on lockscreen (Enabled in 'Cyanogen Settings-Input Settings')
Dismiss notifications by swiping
Updated Terminal Emulator app
Updated Google Apps
Removed 'Reboot' option (It doesn't work on our phones)
Configured to work with the latest 2.6.32 Kernels
Many Modifications and fixes
Merged latest changes from CyanogenMod repo
Fixed Lock Screen Gestures
Fixed some typos in a couple of the apps
Cleaned up some files
RLS5.5 :
No major changes, mainly changes in the build environment and behind the scenes
Speed improvements
Rotary lockscreen
RLS6 :
Updated to the latest 6.1.2 stable source
(Not much has changed CyanogenMod wise, changes are mainly in the AOSP Froyo source)
Updated to the latest zram (Compcache) module (enabled by default)
Updated to the latest Google Apps (Most are now in a separate update file below)
Gmail, market and quicksearch is still included as well as all the necessary frameworks
This is a complete rebuild from scratch because I lost the old stuff so some things may be different, let me know if you find anything weird
I've done all I can to optimise this build and get the size down

Awesome thanks, always forget to check the Kaiser thread for builds. Will try out when i get a chance!
This build is awesome! Works great with the latest kernel for vogue. Super fast and has working facebook sync.
Ditto!
Before flashing, I would recommend adding Rogue Tools though if you don't have market.
Very nice fast build though!
Using the latest 10-24-10 Vogue NBH 2.6.32 kernel.
About the port
scooter1556,
I get force close when in settings-ADWLauncher-UI Settings-Desktop dots is checked (show/hide the nexus style pagination dots). When I uncheck it and the recheck it, go back to desktop and try the dots, the Launcher force closes.
Any fix for this? Appreciated for bringing this great port! Thanks,
Very nice. I am digging it right now but installing apps to the SD card seems to be causing problems (the card unmounts and the app does not appear in the drawer) Boot speed is fast which is great as well. I use the spare parts app just to tweak the END button behavior (Home, then sleep) If there is another way to do this I wouldn't need it

I didn't include it because i assume that most people use NBH editor to set there preferred settings in the kernel before flashing.

I get this as well, it could be my fault, i'll check the setting that may be causing it and get back to you. If it isn't that it is a bug with ADW at the moment which i'm sure will be sorted soon.

I also has the same installing apps to sd in fresh-froyo. Haven't tried in this port yet but i guess nothings changed. It is probably a kernel/driver issue which i will certainly look into because it will be a nice feature to have. There is also a script i can try to get this working. I will include spare parts in the next build
Cool, I always thought it was a nice handy feature in Spare Parts to change the button behavior so it's great it it'll be in the next build. Once again, great rom. The only thing I changed was ADW Launcher as I prefer LauncherPro much more

On the http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/files/?C=M;O=D site, I only see the latest kernel as 10.9.10. Where did you get the 10.24.10 kernel?

Nevermind, I googled for it. I didn't realize there were to places the kernel was being worked on. I forgot to thank the OP for posting this in the Vogue forum. I do not visit the Kaiser forum, so I would not haven known about it otherwise.

The apps2sd problem looks to be due to an incorrect path in the /etc/vold.fstab file. I commented out the existing line and changed it to use the path /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.1/mmc_host/mmc0 which seems to be working after a reboot. I've moved some apps, and also installed neocore which I couldn't do earlier. This is with a NAND install and a single 4GB FAT32 partition on the sdcard, I don't know if any changes would need to be made for other setups.
[Changed contents of /etc/vold.fstab file]
#dev_mount sdcard /sdcard auto /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/../
dev_mount sdcard /sdcard auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.1/mmc_host/mmc0

I was playing with app2sd a few days ago and found the same thing, the line i used was slightly different so as to not mess up sd installs but it does appear to work. Works perfectly as long as the app is compatible.
Anyone running this on the Vogue?
Only NBH I'm able to get this working with is the 10-1-10 2.6.32 NBH file
Any other NBH locks up Windows Explorer and never allow it to connect
Anyone using some other kernel for this build?
------------
Edit: the 10-1-10 2.6.32 NBH doesn't crash explorer - but still won't connect to see USB drive
Not a major issue as I usually carry a SD -> MicroSD USB card reader just in case

I can't get the built in mass storage to work either, adb works fine but i can't get access to the card from my pc while it is still in the phone. I have never got this working properly on any build that i can think of.
EDIT:
I will be releasing a new build later today hopefully with fixes to ADW, Music app, mp3 and other codecs working, apps2sd working and i have got the build in sd mount working (under ubuntu works flawlessly, i'll try windows in a bit).
I'm running your release 2 build with the 10-24-10 kernel and everything is works super smooth. The camera app does see the sd card in the phone and the gallery app isn't working for me either. How are the cam and gallery apps different from the other cm6 build?

1. If you want to say "Thanks!"
There are many ways to show your support to the developer. You can:
Press the "Thanks" button.
Hit the donation button and "buy me a beer".
Share your opinion about my work and write some feedback in respective thread.
Advertise my work to your friends.
Rate my thread with 5 stars.
Every way of support is highly appreciated, but it's not expected!
2. Sharing policy
This forum is about sharing. If you want to use any part of my work, please feel free to do it but remember about some simple rules:
Inform me about using my work by sending me a message. You don’t need my permission, just inform me.
Include link to my thread from where you took particular files.
Give proper credits for what you used.
When it comes to using my ROM as a base you are free to do it only if I don't have "Stock ROMs" thread available for particular device. If such thread exists, you are
obligated to take ROMs from there instead. These threads with "Stock ROMs" are usually updated within 24 hours from the moment when I release my custom ROM.
Sharing is one thing, but please respect some areas of my work like:
ROM name - "Android Revolution HD", "Android Revolution", "Revo HD", "AR HD" etc.
Graphics used in my threads, especially head-banners designed exclusivity for me.
Other parts of my work that are not supposed to be used by others without proper permission.
Please let me keep my threads design unique. I’m sure you can do something even better yourself!
3. Support
If you have any issues or questions, please feel free to post them in the respective thread. Due to my commitments in real life I can't answer every PM, tweet or facebook post.
If you want to get the fastest and the best answer - ask the question in the thread. Every month I need to remove about 1.000 new messages from my XDA inbox. I’m sure it’s better if I spend this time cooking new ROMs.
4. Signature banners for users
Due to the increasing number of users flashing my ROMs we introduced some time ago 3 special groups of members.
Android Revolution HD Recognized User – every user might get this rank with proper banner by being active in my thread (or threads).
Helping users to solve problems, answering questions or preparing threads with add-ons for Android Revolution HD are the most common ways to gain this rank. Just be active and we’ll contact you!
Android Revolution HD Advanced User – every user might get this rank with proper banner by doing some amazing modification, application, theme etc. for Android Revolution HD.
Creating simple bootanimation might not be enough, but you never know! Having Recognized User status before is not needed!
Android Revolution HD Supporter – every user who shared some server space with us (with proper bandwidth) will get this banner. Please keep in mind we can't use DropBox shared folders.
What we can use is minimum 20 GB of space and 10 Mbit upload speed. If you want to donate some server space to us, please contact me via private message.
Apart of those special banners, every user might use one of our amazing user banners collected in this thread.
Finally, thanks for using my work! I hope you will enjoy Android Revolution HD!

Q 2: My Premium Navigation doesn't work correctly. What should I do?
A: Your Premium Navigation may not work correctly for many reasons. Most of them are not ROM related. You can try the following things:
- reinstall your Locations under "Settings" ---> "Locations"
- remove /sdcard/.data/navigator/Data/Temporary from your SD card
- re-download Google Maps from the Android Market
- clear data from Google Maps in system software management
Q 3: When recording HD video, the playback of the clip keeps freezing. How to fix it?
A: This is probably SD card problem. Format your SD card (FAT32 recommended) to gain silky smooth playback.

Q 4: After I reboot my device, mp3 ring-tone is back to default. What should I do?
A: Go to Ringtones > Menu > More Ringtones > Create new ringtone > Select the one you want (Thanks to kill4l)

Q 6: After flashing Android Revolution HD my SD card is being mounted as ready only. What should I do?
A: Connect your SD card to your PC and do defragmentation process. If you still have some problems with SD card, please read this.
Mac users can use the repair function of the MacOS disk utility to solve the read only problem (Thanks to Calimero1205).
Q 7: My CPU load is all the time nearly 100% and in most part it's used by system. What is the reason of that high CPU usage and how can I fix it?
A: Delete your htcsense.com account. It takes A LOT of your battery and CPU usage.

Q 8: Do I need to wipe data partition when upgrading from old version of Android Revolution HD?
A: I always recommend wiping data partition but it's absolutely necessary only if I mention that in the changelog. But normally you can live without it.
Wipe data partition if you experience any issues.
Q 9: I have some strange issues with my ROM that nobody reported before. What should I do in first place?
A: In first place you should check, if the MD5 Checksum is correct. Then flash ROM again and see if the issue is gone. A lot of strange issues can be solved this way.

Q 16: My Quadrant score is not as high as on different ROM. What does it mean?
A: It means absolutely nothing. Benchmarks on Android System are more or less lottery and they are not showing the real system performance.
There are many settings that can force Quadrant to show more then 3000 points but it's faked performance, that actually can slow down your phone in some circumstances.
What I always emphasize is a real performance, the one you can feel under your fingers. Remember that I/O has some limit and surpassing it shows just a numbers without true ratio.
Also keep in mind that Quadrant has support for Android Gingerbread only in version 1.1.7 and higher.
Q 17: I have com.htc.bgc process force close few times a day. How can I fix it?
A: It's because you have removed HtcTwitter.apk (HTC Twitter application). Please restore it.

You think you're addicted from flashing ROMs, checking forum the whole day and you feel like "Android" should be your second name? Well, here's something for fun

Not everything at once. Step by step
Wow, absolutely cool.
Noone experiencing any issues? Camera is working fine everywhere?
@mike
Is it possible to flash a theme with transparency or do I have to make the modification myself?
And second: You think to not wipe data if coming from stock? Is it okay to wipe dalvik cache and cache before?
Thanks my dear!

1. If you already have a theme for this base then yes.
2. Dalvik-cache and cache will be cleared by my ROM automatically. Don't worry about it. I recommend doing full wipe.
Thanks for reply!
I thought about the Sense 2.1 Themes.
BTW, it's very easy to make a transparent statusbar, but the framework and system-ui must be patched.
So it is already? (Sorry, if I'm asking bad questions^^)

TwizDroid V1 RELEASED OFFICIALLY!!
nice work,I’m using your SenseDroid V8 now,and it works very will, I will try this rom ASAP. THX
Installed TwizDroid and is it just me or does it seem faster than SenseDroid V8?
Jerry, how long should the battery last on this build?
Very impressive ROM! Awesome!!! Thank you jerrytan93!
Hi Jerry, can you confirm the battery charging status? I've plugged in the charger but don't see it charging. I've tested plugging the charger in WinMo and then booting into TwizDroid and the result is ok!

I'm using Turbo kernel in this build, so it will have the charging problem if you dint plug in charger before booting Android. If you want to change kernel with fully working charging then you can change Midnight's kernel or XDAndroid's kernel.
About the battery life, I can't really test it properly due to my old battery.. (fully discharge too much while running Android before)
Thank you for this new ROM, for me the best so far
1. Feels smooth and stable
2. Wifi, GPS, BT working OK
2. Nice new font and launcher
3. More free memory (116 MB)
4. Battery life seems to be a bit better
5. Faster unlock screen and gallery
Not working for me:
- network location (via GPRS network) in maps
- Angry birds crash to launcher
If kernel will improve, this could be a candidate for nand version
Congrats, your job is magnificent.
I've tried the rom and I have a doubt. Have you noticed that Market (old versión) continue updating despite of disable the updater? I couldn't check it in the new version because it's the last. It is so strange.
On the other hand, I had a problem between v3.3.11 and wifi. The new version disable the wifi interface and you have to turn on again to download anything from the Market.
great job jerry
I am impressed
key freeze
Hello jerrytan,
your version of Android is really perfect, I have only one problem, key freezing ....
the same problem also with the sense version of Android ...
have you any solution?

The older version of Market should not have any problem with disabling the updater, I had tested by my own and no problem with it.
The latest Market had a interference with the Wifi, sometimes is because you are downloading too many apps at once, but anyway I think this is the reason you had change back your Market in GoDroid to v2.12 am I right?

Key freezing is caused by the kernel, you can change to another kernel like Midnight's kernel or XDAndroid's kernel

KatKiss ROM
Nougat 7.1 ReleaseAsus TF701T
This rom is an aosp based rom with my own additions on top of it.
The main motto of the rom being Kiss. Even though the Meerkat could give you a kiss, it stands for Keeps it Sweet and Simple too
Which means that the rom's main goal is efficiency, speed/responsiveness,
while not adding bloated features that will slow things down

Currently Not Working:
- Camera
Install Instructions:
Backup everything !
Boot into the recovery
The first time or everytime you have an issue when dirty flashing (Especially when changing android major versions):
[*] do a full wipe, if you have issues make sure that you format /data (format is different than wipe)
Warning: formatting will remove what is stored in your internal storage, so store the rom /gapps/supersu zips onto an external storage (microSD, SD card..) or make sure you know how to push them back through adb.
Note that on the TF701 sometime the partition might get corrupted after format in the recovery, so you might need to format to ext3 then ext4 again, and/or reflash the rom if it fails to flash the 1st time
Then everytime (even when "dirty flashing") do the following steps:
Flash the rom
Flash the SuperSU zip
[*]Flash gapps
Wipe cache/dalvik
Reboot
Note that current gapps setup wizard will crash as it is not fully compatible with android 7.1.2 (KatKiss >= 022)
unless you turn on wifi manually after the language selection in the initial setup.
(if you don't have a dock, use the extra wifi button in the navbar)
Rom Main Features:
Native Nougat MultiWindow

First Install
Make sure you do a format /data the first time you install the rom
(backup your internal storage first if you want to keep something)
The first boot after a rom flash can take a few minutes but is faster after the 1st time.
Also keep in mind that after a fresh install, it might take a bit of time to get up to full speed as media scanner & google are checking/scanning and restoring stuff.
Note that app optimizations /cache will now occur in background after being installed, only when :
- your device is idle
- on power and fully charged.
So after install / update, let your device on the charger for some time for it to fully optimize. (depends on your number of installed apps)
System UI Tuner
A few things including the navbar buttons can be tweaked in Settings => System UI Tuner
Bluetooth audio devices
For bluetooth audio devices that have "phone audio" capability you need to uncheck the box in the device's bluetooth settings.
Graphic artifacts
Video thumbnails shows green for certain type of videos
Storage Encryption
Encryption is not supported on our devices
Hardware keyboard layouts
More languages have been added in the default asusec keyboard
Set the keyboard layout through Settings => Language & Input => Physical Keyboard (asusdec), click on the language to choose its layout
(to use multiple layouts , you first need to add another Language in Settings => Language & input)
You can switch between layouts using the keyboard icon that appears in the navbar or by settings a key override action to any keys combination.
Global Key Override/Shorcut Mecanism
Available in Settings => Dock => Add Key Override Actions
This will allow you not only to redefine function keys assignment, and other special keys actions,
but you'll also be able to assign global macro actions / app launch to any key + Meta key combination (shift Left or Right , ctrl..)
You can also add multiple actions to one key combination, simply click again on the "+" button for the same key combination.
For example if you want to assign to one key combination a list of action to run before going to bed for example, like: turn wifi off, Bluetooth off, mute sound, and turn screen off, you can do that
Note that starting multiple applications with one key is kinda a miss and hit for the moment due to some mecanism in android that seems to prevent applications to start too close to each others.
Storage (fstrim) and Database optimization:
Fstrim is native since 4.3 and will happen in the background if your tablet is idle / sleeping and that your battery is > 70%
There is also a script to run it manually in the rom: /etc/kat/optimizestorage
To optimize the Database: /etc/kat/optimizedb
To run both, open a terminal and run:
su
/etc/kat/optimize

Let's go !
It still fresh, but should be pretty much stable and usable as a daily rom already I'd say
Unless you need one of the missing/not working feature of course (See 1st post)
(I don't need to hear about what's already listed there)
Test & report
Thanks @timduru the new ROM is working for me. As usual it will need some time to reconfigure all apps
New Version #016
New rom version available: KatKiss-7.1_TF701T_016.zip
Changelog:
- tf701: fix Bluetooth
- tf701: wifi: default to JP countrycode for more channels (change in wifi => advanced settings => wifi regulatory domain (requires reboot))
- tf701: dexopt: use everything-profile where allowed
- tf701: enable multiuser
Hey there People.
I am using TimDuru's KatKiss . Which is awesome.!
But I would like to request the following, if there is a master list of features.
- Allow internal Drives to map, if connected to a USB (in a PC for instance).
- - I have Apps that need Internal Drives, and it makes it hard to transfer data (I have 80+GB to transfer from old microSD)
- Allow Bluetooth Mice. (I use mine for RDPing to work computers and a mouse is Really Nice)
(my 2 Cents finished)
Except for a problem formatting data the first time, everything went smooth and so far no issues.
Must be time to donate again. DONE.
Thanks Tim.
Awesome upgrade
Hi, this is awesome! I have been running with v15 for a day or so and I have never seen my transformer smoother.
Tim, thanks a lot for keeping these machines alive! Small donation your way.
I have not tried v16 yet but just a couple of things I noticed running v15 so far (have not tried v16 yet):
- The microSD card mounted to something a bit unusual: /storage/6632-3437
- In my gallery most video thumbnails have a weird green or purple tint to them.
Cheers

I did my nandroid backup last night, but have yet to install Nougat...hoping tonight, or tomorrow at the latest.
I can confirm that I have the same thumbnail color issue with KK Marshmallow, though.
Installed 7.1.1 v16 this morning. So far so good!
One (minor) annoyance, and I may just be missing how to disable it - It's showing me the dock battery even though I don't have it docked. Can this be turned off like we could in previous versions?
My benchmark was higher with Nougat than MM, as well Will keep testing and report any issues.
Thanks again Tim! Will be sending you another little donation.

Thanks Tim, flashed v17 a little while ago. So far looks good! Thanks for fixing the dock battery icon
I don't have much experience with TF701T.. Does it have poor wifi antenna or is it something wrong with software.. I noticed that network connection slow and started to investigate.. Speedtest very of ten shows 4mbit... At the same Time Phone has 30mbit... Sometimes suddenly it is ok without any obvious reason. I tried to find better Channel but it doesn't help much.
Do you have similar experience or it is Just me?
I'm on Version 17
Wi-Fi working fine here. Are you on 2,4 or 5 GHZ
