Did you install BlueGPS like thaihugo suggested? Once you install it, you could use either Windows Live or Google Maps (I like Live Maps latest over Google Maps, but thats me). If your question running on GPS on Vista, then also it is possible to use BlueGPS and you can see GPS once you activeSync it. I bought GPSGate for both the sides and I am using it.
--Ram--
on my rom, you can install any gps program and it will work. problem is storage for maps. This is why I recomment google maps or garmin mobile. In any caseM gps is com4.
To access it on vista, there is an how to in the age of reason thread.
You don't need gpsgate. The gpstoblue and the solution in my thread explain it all.
is it possible to use tomtom with maps on shared drive etc with vista running? or does it still crash??
thaihugo? saiweb?

I have a feeling that this will become quite a discussed post. The *taster* version of TT that comes with the Kaiser allows you to download only one map - and the selection is limited.
I have a TomTom Go in my car and was wondering if I can use the map data from there? I have all of Western Europe. Obviously I'll need a memory card capable of holding it but the real question is - can you use TT Go maps on TT Mobile?
R
I suspect that the maps are attached to a particular device.
Depends on the map version you have.
I guess the Kaiser has a version 6 Tomtom. Therefore you need at least map designed for that version.
In general the maps for the Go and the WM versions of TomTom are identical. Theoretically it should work.
BUT:
Apart from that you also need a device specific activation code belonging to the map/device combination. Your maps are obviously allready activated for your Go, so you cannot activate them on a second device.
Maybe the TomTom helpdesk (forum on their site) can help you out.
Taster version of TomTom with Kaiser......is it possible to uninstall it so that I can install my own tomtom which I have got on my current sd card in trinity, as it is activated and with all maps? I mean, is this tatser verison included in ROM or is it removable from settings?
Thanks

I believe i noticed in the "retail TyTN II unboxing" video, that TomTom resides on a CD with applications in the box.... So that would mean you have to install it yourself, and in that case you can go with your own full copy of TomTom...
What i would like to know is, if version 6.030 from my Trinity will run smoothly on the Kaiser...???

tomtotm isnt on the rom. so there will be no need to uninstall anything. just put your version on and use it. its supplied on the software disk. I'll be putting my own version of tomtom onmine when i get my micro sd card hopefully tomorrow
but the version on the CD Rom is the latest (6.0.32)
the 6.0.32 version of TTN6 is specific for WM devices with built-in GPS, like the Kaiser.
So, best option is to use the app from the kaiser package and your own maps.
I think you can just copy the map folder from the TomTom Go to an microSD card and see if it is working.
I bet it is.

Legally? No. TomTom licenses you maps per device, so what you have is licensed to your GO.
Practically? Yes. You'll need one of the many keygens out there....
Can you nav guys help. I've never used GPS with my TyTN. I'm considering a TyTN II and have some questions.
Can you use the built in GPR without an external antennae with Google Maps with the TyTN II? Or do you need the TomTom or other software?
I like using Google maps.

You don't need an antenna or extra software like tomtom. Sometimes it's a bit fiddly setting up the ports to use to get say Google Maps or other software to see the inbuilt GPS - but you get there in the end!

Mike:
Thanks again for your reply. I think I may pick up the TyTN II here pretty quickly. I just wanted to hear that the built in GPS actually does something.

What port are you using in Googlemaps? I've left it at auto, which doesn't work :S
Thanks!
People said that Googlemaps is not so friendly with long waiting to get satelite fix. So, Googlemaps tend to disconnect and wont tell you anything.
The workaround (not nice btw), is to start TomTom to get satelite fix, then quit.
After that Googlemaps will be able to connect to the GPS and works fine.
But, sorry for asking, what are the good things of Googlemaps compare to, let say TomTom or Route66, etc. Of course, it is FREE, but other than that?
Is Googlemaps available for all continent (Europe?) ?
bear in mind that google maps is an API, not just a web site.
It is possible to write location sharing apps etc for google maps, a mobile interface would be very cool.
Guys where on earth is the tomtom cab file for version 6? I only got 2 cd's, 1 applications which only has 3 apps (but not tomtom) and the starter cd which I did look all over? Is there more than 2 cd's?
Please help, I just got the kaiser today and want to install tomtom.

I don't have Tomtom6 on any CDs either , I got the units from SuperiorGadgets, they are HTC Tytn II. And I tried Mapopolis, map4pda, igo 2007, Destinator 6, none can see GPS.
What is the hardware port? I checked the GPS CP app, it shows COM4: as software, none for hardware. I tried couple of settings there, none worked so far.
Sorry guys, maybe this is not the right place where to post this, but i'm new and i need your help.
I bought a TyTN II that come with a Trial version of TomTom but i can only download one map. I tryed to put the maps i purchased in the memory card, but i'm not able to make them to work.
Then i disinstalled the trial version and i install TT6 and it work perfectly, but i need to use an external GPS because in the version of my TT6 there isn't the build in GPS.
There is a driver to make it work?
Thx in advance.

Yes there is you go to tomtom configuration and select other NMEA as the GPS device setting.
PS I will merge this with existing tomtom GPS threads in a while!!
Mike
You mean i can use the TT6 with the built in GPS like that?
Great!!! and thx!
How about if i want to use the TT6 that come with the TyTN II and the maps i purchased before?
Is that also possible, or that version can work only with the map you download?
I really can't figure out where to put the folders with others maps
Anyway thank you so much i will try what you told me.

YES - you can use it like that - it works very well. (some folks have to as they do not get the free version on disk)
I use my original tomtom but I believe you can use the one from the disk alongside your previously purchased maps - so long as the maps is in the right location -

Hi all,
I'm looking for a solution to install TomTom navigator on my Kaiser. I've downloaded the maps on the newsgroups, but I don't have the software ... Where can I find it ? On TomTom Home ?
It's so easy installing Garmin on Symbian, but TomTom, I'm lost.
Thanks
hi could you tell me where you downloaded the maps as i cant seem to find them anywhere?
please, no warez, newsgroups here. You can get the maps directly from TomTom website.....

hi! this is my first question on this forum...
I have a Kaiser and a startrek.... can I use Tomtom on my startrek using the kaiser's gps (with bluetooth connection)? If is possible, how can I do?
thx!!!
Out of the box, no.
I've heard of applications to share the GPS via Bluetooth, but to be honest, why would you want to?
Why dont you just use TomTom on the Kaiser?
i believe you can accomplish that with gpsgate, but then like jwbrint says, why dont you just use tomtom on the kaiser

+1 on that its the easier option
I've just installed the WM6.1 Professional on startrek and i wish try tomtom or sygic or other.... on it, but I haven't an external gps and don't want buy it only for this.... so I'll try "gpsgate"... THX!
PS: Is there a tutorial for this?
I need help for installing Garmin GPS.
I have download and install:

- Garmin Mobile XT Support Files
But when I run, the program always scanning bluetooth and scanning attached for a long time and never end..
Can anyone help me please??
are you not able to skip that step? i use garmin all the time, granted its from the same installation i've used for years. i just keep the files on the sd card & move it from phone to phone & execute the autorun & its re-installs the shortcuts etc..
anyhow i think u should be able to skip that step, but i'm curious does google maps or bing gps work?

Naturally Garmin, can only works with Garmin devices such as bluetooth GPS. but It's possible to run garmin with other devices, all you have to do is cr*ck it. Try googling "jet mouse".

U have to register it. Skip the scan, that will get u past that part. If it's unregistered, it will only see a Garmin GPS.
Actually, Garmin Mobile XT was made for devices such as smartphones with a built-in GPS...
into the garmin software go to:
config>>Sistem>>remote gps and there select com4.
@drdrewdown =
1. if i skip that process, will show "Some aspects of garmin mobile XT will not work properly without first getting a valid GPS fix"... Any idea?
2. how to make the google maps or bing GPS work??
@iwakpitik = thanks for your opinion, i try to find it..
Thanks for all
is there any tutorial to crack this gps?
You can't legally use Garmin without paying for it in some fashion - either by purchasing their Bluetooth GPS package, or their SD card package. If you want to use the built-in GPS you need the SD card version. Be forewarned that Garmin does not support using anything other their supplied SD card, which is not very large and is filled with their software/maps. If you want to use your own SD card you'll have to circumvent their protection, which is obviously not something Garmin or this forum like people talking about.
at the scan screen skip it, go to the about screen, find your device/memory card id
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4075165&postcount=318
go there follow instructions, use the keygen to register garmin xt.
u wont see the scanning ever again and the program will work flawlessly.
now if anyone has maps for india, please oh please pm me
Thanks for advanced.. I can run the application but the problem now is the map is not show and the signal is empty.. Any idea?? Thanks before
^^ sori for duplicate
Map for India
http://www.noeman.org/gsm/maps/
And attached is a step by step guide to do everything...
Enjoy...
PS: Most of the times you will not see any signal bars on Garmin XT, but you will still pick up on any satelites.
very clear my friend.... thanks for your tutorial.. I will try this....
