Hi guys iv just bought a "svp m2000" running wm2003se.
When i got the ppc i was missing the cable to connect via active sync.
Im asking is there any way og upgrading to wm5 or wm6 via a sd card?
Any Help on the matter would be great.
Thanks.
Andy...
- format a SD card with FAT32
- extract the .NBF file from the rom image you like
- rename the .NBF to *.NBF and copy it to your SD card
- put SD card in phone and start it in bootloader (hold the record button on left side and POWER button at same time and stick with stylus in RESET on bottom)
- confirm flashing on screen
- flashing might hang after some time but this is normal. Just wait. Complete flash takes about 30 minutes.
This also works for normal (non preproduction) devices but keep in mind that if the CID does not match the flashing might not work.
I dont know what to rename the .NBF to but expriment along the lines of BLUE ANGEL
hope i helped,
Josh.
Edit: found another way
*put your blue angel on charge
* Download ntrw.exe.
* Copy ntrw.exe to C: \.
* Dos Command access to C:\
* Type ntrw write [ROM name].nb1 E:.
* Put your Blue Angel into bootloader mode with the SD card in the slot and leave it for about 30 mins (yes it freezes just leave it )
nice tutorial, since i am using a vista 64 pc i will give that method a try sometime, too, but there are some things not quite acurate/right in your description:
"- rename the .NBF to *.NBF and copy it to your SD card"
to what does it need to be renamed?
"(hold OK button on left side and POWER button at same time and stick with stylus in RESET on bottom)"
the button on the side of the device is actually the record button, the one with the tape on it.
maybe you could edit your entry, and as soon as the procedure is found right and precise enough, it might make the wiki.
very nice work!
it didn't work
Thanks for your help . ill give it a go now and see if anything happens..
Andy..

yes i know it might have been a bit wrong because i scoured the internet for ages and only found a hermese SDcard flash apart from the other one i posted after the "EDIT:"
anyways, i'm interested to find out how to do this.
There isnt a tutorial, currently at the time of writing, of how to do this so it would be great if we could make a breakthrough

Hi there is there anyone who has a similar gps device and are able to upload the rom on an SD card so i can repair the rom. The device is a Logic Gear SL350 also sold as a Nuevo E610 or a Ramar device, and many more, if i cannot get a rom, is there a way i could get the device working as it now only boots to the startup screen and doesn't go any further
The Bootloader works and i am able to update the rom and eboot.bin file, does anyopne have a win ce 4.2 or 5 NK.NBO file for a samsung SS2440 processor, I have done a search and the device is also known as a blue panther.
Please help
Thanks Mark
FIXED IT
I have just fixed it, after searching the net for nk.bin and eboot files works great, Logic gear support was useless

Thx//
GMP-350 Rom
Sorry about the late reply but could not find it any where as did not save the link, and yet again my gps unit played up. I have now uploaded it to Rapidshare link as follows:-
http://rapidshare.com/files/288891821/gpsrom.rar.html
1. format your sd card to Fat32
2. download the file from the link above
3. Extract files with winrar
4. Copy the files to the sd card
5. insert the SD card
6. turn the device on and hold the power button
7. Update program will run
8. DO NOT SWITCH OFF THE DEVICE JUST BE PATIENT
9. It will reboot by itself after about four minutes.
10. hey prestow.
If you do not like my logo picture, just find a picture of the same size and rename logo.bmp and reformat card and only copy the logo file to the sdcard and it will change the logo picture, or just don't copy it when you update the rom, hope this helps.
Hi there... can you resend the files pls... the rs link is broke. thnks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446070
Per the above thread, here is where I am:
Step 1 (preparations)
DONE
Step 2
-I formatted a card with FAT32 ("e:/ fs: fat32") method on XP
-downloaded a ROM from here (Touch-IT Xperience v2.1)
-extracted the files
-renamed the .nbh file "Kovsimg.nbh"
-copied Kovsimg.nbh to the card detailed above
-inserted card into X1i
-powered off X1i
-entered bootloader mode
From there, the 4 color screen comes up and turns white. Phone says it can't find the image. returns to 4 color screen and says "serial" in the bottom color bar. I can pull the battery out and phone reverts. I'm not SUPER technical, so I don't know what I am doing wrong. Any ideas?
get the harspl app and flash it, after that it will get in to bootmode and automaticly flash from your card

I already have HardSPL on the phone. That was included in step 1 of the referenced link.
Try it again when the bootloader comes up does it say Olinex xxxx? If not then it didnt flash correctly.
Files are located here also:

It did say Olinex!
Hmm... it must not have flashed correctly then. What causes that usually? I'll try again later tonight. Thanks for the heads up, guys!
if it's not finding the image file the hardspl won't make any difference, but it sounds like you've got that stage sorted.
I'm presuming the file isn't named correctly. Double/triple/quadruple check the file name on the card and that the file is on the root of the card. (I managed to get a space into a nbh file today, it didn't pick it up).
How are you copying the file across to the card? double check that its the same size on the card as it is where you downloaded it. However even if it isn't I still think that the bootloader will find it.
Try re-extracting it and copying it again.

my EXACT path is "E:/Kovsimg.nbh" where E:/ is my SD card. File is verified on the card as same size as on the computer. I copied it with the drag and drop method between windows on XP.
I'm charging up the phone again to reload HardSPL
Thanks guys! Now running Xperience v2.1 and it is SO much better than stock!
What was the issue? Glad you got it sorted.

* Uncompress the .rar file to get the .image file.
* Rename the .image file to Kovsimg.nbh
* Copy the Kovsimg.nbh file to the top of the SD card.
* Remove the battery for 5 secs (guarantees the phone is turned off).
* Hold down the volume down button, then hold down the power button at the same time.
* After 2-3 secs you'll see the reg/green/blue stripes, then it will go to a light grey background saying "Loading".
after that it says No image found!

Did you do a hardSPL that worked then the tricolor should say xxxxx OLINEX
cant you see the name Olinex then hardSPL agian. if that is not the problem check your memory card so it is FAT32 and original sectors (windows format standard)?

The same thing happened to me when I tried to update the Spanish ROM. That is because you are missing ONE step
You need to use NBH Utils to do several things before you get the file you need to rename to "Kovsimg.nbh":
- Download the file you want to use and rename it from *****.image to ****.image.nbh
- Run NBHUtil
- Go to "Extract NBH" tab
- Choose *****.image.nbh
- Now you should see something like this:
Model ID: KOVS*****
Target CID: 11111111
Version: 1.02.932.3
Language: DEU Remember what it says here. Could be something else for you, depending on the language of the file you want to use!
Chunk Size: 64
- Click the "Extract" button next to OS:
- Save it as OS.nb
- Go to "Build NBH" tab
- Select the X1 as model
- Set language to the value you should remember ;-)
- Click on "..." next to OS:
- Select the previously extracted OS.nb file
- Click "Build NBH"
- Save it as "Kovsimg.nbh"

thanks for taking time and making it clear
it worked for
I had the same problem when i installed my latest rom.
All i had to do was to Hard-SPL and format the micro-sd card as fat32.
Then you copy the kovsimg.nbh file into your memory card.
Easy peasy
By the way...
With all the step above you are only upgrading the OS not the splash images, and the radio...
To update all no need to do thats steps...
All the step no needed just have to rename the file to KOVSIMG.nbh and copy to the root...Not problem to me at all...
But you must remember to have the MicroSD in FAT32 format and use the MicroSd that comes with your xperia...
In some cases the fault is the MicroSD brand...
I have read somewhere the Kingston MicroSd present problems to flash Xperia..But i havent test that either....Dont have a Kingston one...
Only Sandisk...
Please try to use SDHC micro-sd memory card.
FAT32
Yes, MicroSD card has to be in FAT32 format.
Hy
First of all we need to know exactly what org. Xperia (language, brand) you have and the name of Rom you like to flash to your Phone.
Cause you need to know that a phone without hard SPL will not accept other rom than org generic or org. Brand (t-mob, O2, Voda) in org. Language to flash.
If you like to flash WWE rom on a German T-mob Xperia you have to Hard SPL the Phone first! Hard SPL is easy make sure no sd card with a rom on it is in the phone!!!
make sure you flash newest org rom first before flashing a custom rom, to have last Radio on your Xperia.
I had the same problem when I use the 4GB "Hancock-card" (formatted to fat32 off course). So I use the old skool pc->active sync -> usb cable method. That works perfect
*Update: These instructions now seem to be outdated. I will started an updated thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=648045

(sorry I tried to post some live links, but the forum won't allow them cause I'm a new user, so this may not be as helpful as I hoped...)
I just spent some hours wading through the forums to find complete instructions for installing the newer android builds using the WM haret.exe linux booter (rather than flashing the entire phone and loosing WM) on my touch Vouge.
I am a bit of a newb, but since I did not find complete instructions, and had to figure some things out using trial and error I thought I would post what I did figure out here in hopes of helping others.
First ignore the install instructions here. sourceforge.net/apps/trac/androidhtc/wiki/HowToInstall . They are old and need to be updated.
Erase all previous android files from your sd card
Go here: sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/
haretinstall.zip
open the zip and place the andboot folder and all its contents on the / directory of your SD card
then download eclair252_androidinstall.zip
unzip eclair252_androidinstall.zip to get androidinstall.tar
copy androidinstall.tar to your sdcard /andboot folder
(unnecessarily steps deleted - see below)
Then on your phone's file explorer run haret.exe from /andboot folder on you sd card
click run and immediately hold the volume switch up as linux boots
the boot menu appears. choose install
if the installation hangs hold volume up again, and choose quit
As I said I'm new at this, so my instructions may be off or misguided. If so please post with corrections. I just know I was looking for a guide like this and couldn't find one so hope this helps someone.

Actually, you just answered my question (which I never posted) about NoRootFS.... Thanks for posting this!!!!
THANK YOU!!!
can you explain what is the benefits of doing it this way compared to the way its always been for me. it was as simple as downloading the sqsh package zip file from my favorite build here. witch included all the files i needed to run anroid. I copied the android folder from the zip file to the root of my sd card and simply ran haret exe. It used to be complicated but not now that most builds include all the basefiles needed for boot. I never had to hold any volume buttons or install anything. i probably look dumb for asking this.

Although I have not yet tried myself because I have a Polaris and WiFi is not yet working, my understanding is that NoMoRootFS makes more space available for the ROM and makes it easier for developers to roll out updates. In the thread for Myn's (most excellent) Warm Donut, there are several themes and updates that can only be applied to Rev2 if you have installed via NoMoRootFS.

I think that this step is not needed. The NBH files were made for flash your phone. If you run Haret is not needed.

correct. with the OP method, the .nbh file is just taking up space. you never need to do anything with a .nbh file if you are using haret. OP, please fix and I will add to my list of FAQs, otherwise very informative. thx.

Did didn't get past the Linux menu. It only ran for about 4 or 5 seconds then locked up. I had to soft reset to get my phone functioning again.
I did exactly what the instructions in the 1st post said to do.
Downloaded andboot file to \storage card\andboot
Downloaded androidinstall.zip & placed in the andboot file
Clicked haret.exe
Selected run while holding up the volume key
I read in the post that the below items were not necessary so I skipped them:then download vogueeclairnbh.zip
unzip vogueeclairnbh.zip to get VOUGIMGx480.NBH
copy VOUGIMGx480.NBH to your sdcard /andboot folder
I'm running stock rom. My carrier is nTelos (CDMA).
I notice that your rom version and radio version are not the latest. You may have to ungrade those before you can get it to run.

I've always wanted to update me ROM but there is not a Server cab out there that will give me back my settings for nTelos. Its a small cell network therefore no one has bothered to create one (I really can't blame them). So I've never tried it out of fear of Bricking my phone. For some reason nTelos did not offer WiFi, GPS or MMS with this phone through their network (didn't know that until AFTER I bought it). They have it for other phones but not this one for some reason. That was a little annoying when I 1st got it but I've leaned to live without it. I love my phone even w/o those things. I get pics emailed to me & can email them to other's phone through their carrier address (eg [email protected]). WiFi would be nice but I never use GPS. As far as the Radio. I assume it sort of the same step. I pretty much have to install it & it will wipe out or "Hard Reset" my phone, right...causing me to losing all my network info?

you should be able to update your radio without touching your rom, there is a radio only version of 3.42.50, see the faqs noob guide to flashing, it is in there.
I am unsure what you downloaded; it looks like you have the right basefiles, but if you got androidinstall.zip from 2010-01-05 I don't think it will have anything compatible with the norootfs method, and is probably causing your problem.
delete androidinstall.tar, download this and drop the androidinstall.tar that is inside into your sdcard/andboot/ folder. then run haret and keep holding volume up until you see the install menu. then post back.

OK. Same thing...phone locks up at the same place. I downloaded the file you attached & downloaded the VOGUIMG.nbh file that was linked on PPCGeeks. I followed the instructions on PPCGeeks post "This is the vogue radio 3.42.50 designed for the vogue (this is not the titan port). I removed it directly from the bell rom and recomplied it as a radio only .nbh. This is a radio only rom designed to be flashed from bootloader from sd card and doesn't require a hard reset. Copy VOGUIMG.nbh to root of fat32 micro sd card 2gb or less and place phone in bootloader and it will run."
I still get the same outcome. Both your attachment & the VOGUIMG.nbh file are located \Storage Card\ on my phone. When the Radio instructions say its designed to be flashed from Bootloader what exactly does that mean? Do I need a program for that or is it suppose to start when I Run the default.txt after I select haret in the andboot folder?
the place you got the link to the radio only version also has instructions on how to flash your phone - see the before starting area. short: get into bootloader mode, then flash.
I still think there is something else that you are doing wrong, I just can't put my finger on it right now; i'm hoping others will be able to help.

OK. I figured out how to get it in bootloader mode (power button + camera + soft reset). The Red/Blue/Green screen pops up & then a Grey screen that says "loading...". Its been "loading" for over 5 minutes now. What could be the problem?
Hello people.
I have minor problem over here, I have flased my rom before but in a different way Through the xperia x1 phone with the usb cable in, all I had to do was to install a file through the pc.
But there is another way Id like to do it now, I have a .image file and have renamed it to "kovsimg.image" and I did also install HARD_SPL before.
To make it easier for u to help me.
1. Install hard spl
2. put the kovsimg.image into the memory card
5. Remoed the USB cable
3. turned of the phone
4. Pressed down lower sound and on/off button together (I got to the correct place where there are different colors.
5. Image file not found!
At nr 5., that is where the problem is. Why does it say Image file not found?
I have also tried with .nbh file 2, occuring the same problem though.
Thanks!
The filename should be "kovsimg.nbh"

But in another thread that is sticky, said that it can both me .nbh and .image
So the fact that was said is wrong I guess?
Well that will not either fix the problem, before the .image I tried with a kovsimg.nbh file and had the same problem.
Thanks
Make sure the filesize is the same so you have copied the all of the file "kovsimg.nbh"
happens to me sometimes that there is missing a few megabytes and the phone dont find a image..

Im sorry but how exactly do you mean?
If you mean that the "whole" file maybe didnt get copied into the mem card?
It thats what u mean, I just checked it and both files are 213mb so :S
Check the spelling "kovsimg.nbh" and copy the file from the computer again

You only hard_spl ones, you can make so many flashings you want but remember to do a hardreset after flashing..
did u try to search the forum?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469300
boy, you really haven't read the stickys or haven't understand them fully...
just be glad that this flash-process is pretty stable and it's almost impossible to brick one's phone beyond revival.
read them again!
but to summarize it:
- you only have to do hard-spl once. until you flash stock-spl (that's not stock-rom!) it remains there forever.
- regardless if flashing via usb or microsd, the filetype has to be .nbh
- looks to me as if you didn't change the filetype of the image, but just the filename. so it actually is "kovsimg.nbh.image" right now, which will not be accepted by bootloader (the tricolor-screen-thingy).
check these two things before flashing again:
1. check if hard-spl was successfull:
take your sd-card out, and enter bootloader. it will now stay on tricolor screen. there it should read "SPL-0.72.OliNex". (among other stuff)
if it reads "SPL-0.72.0000" or "78" you haven't succeeded in hard-spl -> read the sticky again.
2. check the filetype of your image-file:
get your windows to show filetypes (how depends on which version, google it) and make sure the file's name is really just "kovsimg.nbh", nothing more.
(via usb-cabel it has to be "ruu_signed.nbh", btw)
put the kovsimg back on your sd-card (directly to root, meaning not into a folder), put it back in and enter bootloader again. follow the instructions on screen.
if you followed these instructions correctly, it will work now.
to flash any other roms in the future you just have to name the file right and put it on your sd-card -> bootloader. (again, hard-spl will not be needed.)
after flashing finished do a hard-reset! when flashing via sd you have to take the battery out and back in to do a restart. that's the perfect moment:
- take battery out
- put it back in
- press and hold (!) the two silver-buttons under the screen
- press the power-button shortly (while still holding the two silver ones!)
- phone will vibrate and enter a white screen
- release the two buttons and follow instructions on screen
When you downloaded the ROM did you make sure to extract it first with either WinZIP or WinRAR before you renamed the file? ALL ROMs are compressed usually with WinRAR to save time uploading. Then you download and extract the file. Then you rename the image file to the respective name on how you wish to flash your phone.
Thanks for the replies but the problem is still here :/
I checked the bootloader and it said "SPL-0.72.OliNex", which means I have installed the HARD_SPL correctly.
Atm I have Energys rom installed, but I didnt install it the same way as this way I am trying to do now. I just had to have the cable checked in and follow an installation and it was done.
Right now I have tried with several roms but none has worked, for the moment I am trying to get this rom to work "Valkyrie_v3.8 FireStorm" without success ofcourse..
I did everything correct, I know that I have. I also followed a video guide to check I made it correct.
The file name is kovsimg.nbh (Ive checked it and it is a .nbh file, my brother also confirmed it).
When I try to flash it, the USB cable is out, the phone is shut (tried to pull out the battery 2), but still the same problem "No image file!".
And yes, I did first extract the file. The size has the same amount as in the winrar file so nothing is missin. After that I changed the file name and copied it into the root of Memory card.
PS. Is this the only way to flash it, I mean is it not possible to do the same way as I did with energy's? (Its the same way as installin HARD_SPL)
Try using a different SD card.

Befor this make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 using a PC. If not, it will not work.
or you could just do it the same way as the energyrom
i.e. customRUU.exe
well, sounds like it's your sd-card. probably formating it again with fat32 will help. there are also reports of some sd-models/brands not working at all. there's a thread for this by gtrab, i think. although there it says "kingston" cards don't work at all - i'm flashing with a kingston 8gb for almost a year now... ^^)
if you choose to get customruu.exe for usb-flash DON'T use the one from hard-spl, that's a special one.
try remove SD card and flash without PC
The SD-cards format is Fat32, but I used a different way this time by doing as Jonny~ mentioned and it worked all fine!
Thanks for the help, great service.
Take care and wish me luck in the future with my xperia
