Flickr Droid: Keeping your Dream looking fresh.
Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has used Flickr Droid on here?
Homepage: http://dazbradbury.googlepages.com/
Cryket link: http://www.cyrket.com/package/backgroundflicker.app
Twitter: http://twitter.com/dazbradbury
I'm looking to see if people want to collaborate, so that when they upload nice G1/Magic wallpapers to Flickr, they tag them with a unique name...
That way, I can set the default tag in Flickr Droid, and anyone using the app can set-up the auto-update feature so new images posted with the tag get automatically pushed to the phone... keeping it looking fresh!
Any takers, let me know!
Cheers,
Daz.
ps. I know the app costs 50p, but to be honest, I'm really looking to just get my developers fee back. Seriously strapped for cash? Check out post 8 for an xda-dev special!

OK, seeing as there is little interest here, anyone like the idea of scrapping the viewer/gallery, and releasing a free background wallpaper changer based on the same concept?
If it's straight forward enough, then I suppose it would make a good "lite" version.
Feedback/Requests would be much appreciated!
Cheers,
Daz.
Serious design change, much more usable.
Only had positive feedback so far... would love people to give it a go, and with free refunds, why not?
Hey guys, just a quick update to say I've made a few changes behind the scenes, but also added auto-correction to the search field.
Hope you like it!
Daz.
ps. Trial now available.

Ok, for those of you who would love to see a free version, and genuinely like the product, but are seriously strapped for cash... Go buy Flickr Droid. Leave a review, and sign it with the name used in your google checkout account. PM me here on xda, and I'll refund you the money! How does that sound?!
An XDA-Dev Special.
Daz.
Just updated the background updater. Should be much more precise now. You set a poll time, and the app will check for new images exactly in the next however many hours/days set, repeatedly. Perfect!
I dont know anything about this app but because you are willing to offer it for free to those in need I will at least go buy it and give it a try.

Cheers Branden, what did you think? Making pretty frequent updates at the moment, so any recommendations and I'll get onto them!
Updated a fair few things... Check out the website for more info:

Great App!
But One Suggestion Can You Make The Wallpaper Update Daily? Like Everyday A New Wallpaper? Or Is That Already There And I'm Missing It?

Thanks!
Basically, you can set the auto-update to check for a new image every day. Just go to the settings menu, set the poll time to 1 day, and hit OK.
Whether this actually updates your wallpaper or not depends on your search. The app will check Flickr once a day, see if any new images match your search, and if so, update the wallpaper.
If you can suggest a better method, let me know and I'll code it in in the next update!
Cheers,
Daz.
Just an update, the full version now has a setting for a random image. Thus ensuring the image is updated...!

Just updated the look, and usability of the program a fair bit... Hope you like it!
Another big design change, also improved rotation compatibility.
Think this will be my last big change for a week or so...
Cheers,
Daz.

Just added a search box on the main screen (with an option to turn it off!).
I feel the app is finally at a pretty good stage.
Please let me know if you're having any problems...

Great app but one thing i dont like is that when it updates pictures they come out blurry as a wallpaper.

Could you elaborate? The app actually downloads the image at full resolution before setting it as a wallpaper. The image you see is the full res image as on flickr, which normally is much higher than the res of the phone...
Maybe there is a bug I can't find. If you could give a photo (or search criteria) as an example, I'll take a look!
Cheers,
Daz.

Very nice icons. Go perfect with launcherpro's dock
Lookin forward to more. Keep up the gud work. I need one for engadget
No offense but .... that's it!!!! LOL
IMHO, not talking about your artistic skills, but anyone who can compare any Linux desktop with an iphone (the latter, seen one, seen all of them), should be able to distinguish between an icon and an button.
I dislike those "button sets" that plague the market. Check out gnome or kde (oxygen) icon sets, please!

No, not more just that all the hype built up didn't particularly come to fruition. Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice set but it's something we have seen before and it doesn't really distinguish itself from other button style icons.
I just wanted to say that I love them but I hope you will considering releasing the psd for free, if your icons is going to be usefull we need more icons than you can produce yourself.

Without a doubt, some of your icons are very nice. And, I think you made the right decision to release the PSD for others to expand upon. However, the psd you released is basically unusable.
It's basically png images in a psd. There are no layer styles or anything else that can be copied to make new, consistent icons. Someone would have to recreate the template from scratch in order to develop this theme. What's the point of the psd?

Yes. Or you could contribute to the GitHub project in developing an advanced AI for the player and I will refund you the purchase price via PayPal.
So far this and the super mario world LWP are the only 2 I own/use (being that I still own a G1 doesn't help ).
Great job OP.
Love the wallpaper!
I've created a very quick background which seems to work on ADW launcher running on Cyanogenmod 6. The only issue I'm having is getting the maze aligned on it as "the man" and the ghosts overlap the downward sections and my icons don't seem to sit right.

Or I could just incorporate the wall drawing feature into the wallpaper itself! Then all you'd need to do would be adjust the grid padding and the walls would move with it.
I also like the 8-bit look you have going on there so I think I'll add "8-bit" as an option under the drawing modes for the entities and game to give a true retro look. It'll use sprites modeled after the 8x8 pixel originals.
The wall additions shouldn't be hard so expect them soon. The 8-bit drawing mode for everything might take a bit longer, though.
Sounds great Jake! I'll keep mine for now as it is as it doesn't bother me too much.
Ill appreciate the updates!

im not tryin to knock the op ( no seriously im not ) but the wally is prolly avail thru google images or deviant art, the launcher can be found via launcherpro.com and the clock is avail thru the forums.
i understand the point .. but nothing is really "amazing" about this theme.
looks like another rendition of the simplistic psd's that were released.
To each their own, what u may find mundane another would describe as amazing. It doesn't have to have the most eye candy, but a well thought and flowing theme which in my opinion this does. Each person is entitled to their opinion and mine is that this is an amazing theme. Simple and clean.

So amazing for you is if I built my own launcher, clock and the whole Android UI?
Of course have I used other applications to skin, that's by far the easiest method.
And nothing is "stolen", it's made by hand - even the wallpaper is
edit: what about these themes? They also uses Launchers you can download on the internet and clocks and widgets as well. I suppose they are nothing special then?

@ KnightMAREcrow : exactly, its just a matter of opinion. we are all entitled.
@ Briix : first and foremost as i mentioned, it wasnt to stir anything up, as i will reiterate its just a matter of opinion and as i said in this case, i wasnt wowed. Now going forward and if in fact you'd like to be technical, no those works didnt wow me either. OH and never once did i mention that any of the items were stolen i simply said all items or something extremely similar can be found via the internuts.
mentioning you made all by hand really does nothing for me either..CONGRATS, you have a good amount of time on ur hands.
Now as i mentioned, and clearly was speaking in reference to two of the three links posted, they are merely differentiations of the original psd's released. which is where "i" see this was "looking"
do u need to recreate the wheel, no. Do u need to simply add different treading maybe a thicker whitewall and have a longer life span to make it better..yes! What i consider "special" may be mere childs play to another. U sitting there and taking all to heart is pointless..never once said i didnt like, just wasnt amazed.
cool, to each their own.
back to topic. what interest me the most is the status bar. its as its a true "minimal" i have a g1 and i would gladly support you in any way i can (cept cash)
This looks really interesting and very nice!
Let me know if you would like to have som additional testing on a Legend, i own one and would be glad to help you out.
please peeps with an EVO test this, so it'll be released for it!
this looks like it could become a pretty nice theme. i'm looking forward to it.

g'day all.
I'm currently writing a quick tip calculator for WP7, i know there are billions of them but there arent many free apps on wp7 yet with everyone trying to make some money and i wanted to release something quick, easy and free just to check out how much hassle the approval process is and see how long it takes MS to get something out once submitted
I wanted to keep it in styling with WP7 as much as possible, let me know what you think

**UPDATE**
Evening guys, finally getting off my lazy ass and submitting this ( year 5 months later and yes I'm aware no one cares about tip calculators ) but I just wanted to give it out here first see if anyone wants to give it a go and make any suggestions and whats broken or what would be better. I designed it because tip apps are everywhere but they always look like ass. Whilst they are always going to be rubbish , you might aswell have one which fits the WP7 metro theme... and the name tip metro, I'd like it changes, so suggestions please !
This is a great design. A very unique take on the function. Great work!
BTW, how did you get the image?

Thanks for the kind words.
The image was just found on google when searching for windows 7 phone. its just the stock one also use in the emulator. Then added my app front end image and then skewed at an angle.
Looks really nice and refreshing from some of the apps that don't look like they belong in the metro UI. Good Job!

This is a really cool app! Only thing I would like to see is working video and zooming of images without jumping to browser.
Aside from that, my productivity has now gone down significantly while away from my desk. So I suppose you could call this a ... success?
Glad you like it! I'm not sure if I can do anything about videos not loading (I think thats just a limitation of not being directly in-browser), but I'm investigating not being able to zoom images and will aim to get it fixed!

I'm ok with not being able to view video's (I just click open in browser and then choose Youtube for the youtube links). However whenever I do that and come back to Reddita the right pane still shows the non-working youtube video, but the left pane loses my place with the links. So I have to scroll all the way back down to wherever I was (sometimes I don't remember how far I was down). Is there a way to come back to Reddita exactly like I left it?
Thanks!
Great App!
Edit: It does it if I follow any link out of Reddita
