I've tried recording videos with both "normal" and "high" frame rate options, it doesn't seem to do anything, any ideas why it's there?
The info button says it's the rate at which videos are captured, so would that indicate if it works you'd get slow motion video?
i've been wonderin about that option myself....and changin it really doesnt seem to do anything at all...
There is a pretty clear difference.
However, the X1i is the only phone that has the difference.
It's not completely noticable on the Xperia, but if you play the video on the computer,
there will be a noticable difference in the framerate. Give it a shot!
just open files on advanced player and press PROPERTIES
Frame Rate: > 10fps or 24 fps
the problem is that the framerate goes down when the brightness is low..then the camera gets laggy in recording mode...so there has to be a setting that we can change the minimum frame rate
please developers HELP

Try BsB tweaks 1.6 it has an option to increase video bitrate. If this post helped press thanks.
ok,does it works on windows 6.1? and is it good to change to mpeg4 recording? what settings you used? would you please upload a video to see the difference?

I have no idea if it works on 6.1 because I don't use 6.1. The settings I used are the ones that improved camera and video quality to me they seemed like they worked I hardly use my camera and video anyway , I don't think the OP would put it improves camera and video quality if didn't. I'm not a bout to upload videos that's way to much of my time and effort when this is not my problem. Go ahead and install the cab and find out for yourself .
does i have to be carefull with this tweak, which settings i should change there?
my x1 quality is not that good...yours?

To start off if you are installing tweaks you always want to install them in the main phone memory unless the app says otherwise. I looked into what you were saying and made an interesting discovery the tweaks are not meant for the X1's camera. In the rom I'm using now I went to my multimedia folder and found separate camera and video software( most likely HD2 or rhodiums or HTC camera and video). I went into the software and found all the options the tweaks are supposed to unlock. The hidden video formats are H.263 and 4, 3GPP2, MPEG 4, and Motion JPEG. To my suprise the highest resolution is CIF(352x288). I tried all the video formats and all are very laggy the X1's video camera is way better. I only use BsB tweaks for the Power saving, Policies, SMS Wake Up, Gyph Cache and TCIP/IP Cache. The videos you posted look actually pretty good and the one where you were riding on the bike and past the man be pushed in a wagon made me laugh so hard
hehe these videos are just samples for good quality xperia x1 videos,i found on youtube. i dont made them. my quality is not that good i think. i installed the bsb tweak now on the main memory but really no changes (
highest resolution is CIF(352x288) i would like to see a video in that quality on xperia x1...is there any other good solution? at the moment i use vga, wide screen and endless focus
thx for help

Ya I seen a couple of your posts in different threads saying they are sample videos lol. Believe me when I say this it is very bad with CIF and it is not in fullscreen view mode, very laggy/ blurry when you move it's not even worth uploading a video to show it's that bad. Try macro focus instead of endless see if that improves anything. Also maybe overclocking your phone with more speed might give a better framerate also idk.

Your battery life is going to be the same regardless of the increase of mhz. Every Xperia is different so the results of how high you can push it is going to be different. Try 652 to start.
it doesnt influence the battery life?
Thats a pretty good tool...652,8mhz and its mainly faster but the frame rate in video recording seems to be the same or?
if you have some more usefull tools, let me know.

Anybody test this program? Does it work om Alpine?
Yes it does work, not a bad little app really.
Really nice app, thanks a lot!
Does anybody know which are the best
settings in order to capture fine photos?
Thanks!
first of all how do you get it to run ....do you just copy into windows as my file is a .php is that right
It is vey nice application....How can I map the default camera key so to use with this application?
To run CoolCamera instead of the standard camera software change the shortcut in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs. Edit the camera shortcut to point to \Programs\ATEKsoft\CoolCamera\CoolCamera.exe
got many software that can remap your hardware button. just search it.....
Yes I know that, I mean inside the program it has not such a setting...

Alright, I've been really upset with the performance of the video camera & playback on my Tilt. In desperation I installed an HTC Application for the Apache which allows you to overclock to 520 or 624. I've been playing with this for a full 10 days now & have to say that aty the 520mhz video is bettyer than bearable, I've had no freezes & my battery draw is roughly the same as before I installed HTC Performance. This does not scale with steps like other over/under-clocking programs, so I just activate it when I need video cam or with TCPMP. It's working Great for me.
The original OEM app it was extracted from has helmi's name on it. I can't figure out what it does, but there is a significant diference for me when running at 520mhz especially in Video Cam mode.

I installed - I enabled - I checked my Device Info (still 400). I ran sk benchmark with it on and off and results almost exactly the same. On what are you basing your info?
Tried it here to, doesn't seem to do anything for me either
sugar pill
I tried it too and noticed no difference LOL, I think its one of those times when someone thinks there running faster due to there special shoes
what's really interesting is that this program isn't even working writing the registry entries correctly. Under HKLM/Software/HTC/ this app writes a key called HTC_Misc. In that key are 2 sub-keys regarding the overclock. With the option to overclock turned off in the application, if you look at the registry you'll find that the ovefclocking is turned on. When you select 500mhz it turns off the overclocking registry. If you set it to 624 mhz, the keys are both set to 1 (on). I think this app needs some more work as it's not working correctly.
Maybe it's a sugar pill...
Yeah, I know fast shoes & all that. The funny thing is that almost all the Apache users found that the benchmarks were simillar to not using this app. but the majority of them also said that their unit was much more responsive. If it's a Placebo effect, it's a good one & I'll take it because my video cam actually captures things that are moving now, not just a blur. I'll reset & see if Tracker picks up any other changes anywhere else in the registry.
As far as what I'm currently basing my oppinion on, it's just that my camera is capturing moving people & items clearly.

Funny enough, the 520 setting feels faster & camera works better for me. Strange though.
a faster processor isnt going to reduce the required exposure time
I understand that, & I'm strictly talking about overall sys. response & the Video Cam. Before when people were moving it as horrible, they appeared as just a blur of motion. Now it records movements much more clearly. The only other thing I've done is installed TomTOm6 w/ a few maps.
I'll tell you what, I'll make a screen recording of video with & with out this applied & you will see what I mean.
Are you sure you're not just taking photos in better light conditions at the moment? The kaiser automatically switches to night mode when the light is poor, and then the camera becomes unusable.
also please review the post I meade eralier about registry keys. When this app is set to 520, the actual registry entries show that overclocking is turned off.
This is DEFINITELY Placebo effect.
dang, this got me pretty excited...
Just as a final nail I tested corecodec benchmark of the spiderman3 movie I have on storage.
Non Over - 97.43% playback rate
520 - 96.62
640 - 96.00
So all in all I think we can call this one dead.
PS: Yes it does piss me off the playback isnt 100%+ but thats the drivers thread not this one.

Open up the camera and switch trouch the options, you'll find it
video recording, not photo
as far as i know it is somehow software limited to 320x240
OK, and at least is there any way to switch off thing which is slowering the camera? I think it is automatic white balance. My brother´s Asus P535 has the sport option, which disable autobalance and the camera is smoothly, no slowdown, but I am not sure if this is autobalace wchich cause slowdown, anyway I am sure you know what I am talking about.

i posts a lot about this ! but
i really dont like the recording in a dark craaaap
its like recording 5 frames per second or even lower
most if people record video in the night in a party or somthing , but what the point of video recorder if you cant record smoothly !!?!!
the p3600 record perfectly in a dark CIF size , mp4 , 12 to 13 frames per second
Like I said, it isnt bug literally. There just missing mod which disables image-enhancer software which is slowering device.

Thank you very much for these tweak. I seldom get blurry pictures now even in low light condition.
EDIT: [email protected] has been added to nightly and bitrate has been set to 12mbps which is not that bad. Its hence not recommended to flash these anymore. If you want higher bitrate look in the thread for those. I think it was pastime who made them. Alternatively use root explorer to manually edit /etc/mediaprofiles.XML. again, read pastimes and related posts in the thread on that.
This will replace the Camera.apk from CM7 with a more tegra2 friendly version that enables [email protected] recording. There's also included an updated media_profiles.xml file that'll enable different bitrates. Choose wisely . To test the bitrate I recommend having it running for at a minute to make sure everything can keep up. Usually it starts out smooth and then starts stuttering as the ram gets filled up. I also upped the quality for still.
Videos (I'll add experimental stuff as well, such as ultra high bitrates and auto focus):
http://www.youtube.com/user/O2XdevVids
I would stay away with 64mb ram hacks for the time being. Maybe we can find some middle ground in the future .
Anyway, please give me feedback on how it works. Some beautiful videos would be nice. Weather is really depressing here.
Please don't use this for non-tegra 2 devices.
Also, I'm experimenting a lot. Expect a lot to be buggy. I do my best not to put something out that doesn't work, but a couple of runs is really the extend of my testing before it goes up (to be honest). The autofocus-mod is seriously buggy. The bitrate-mod should be pretty much as buggy as the std. cm7 Camera app.
And, of course, thx to all the great ppl who works on cm.

Just adds auto focus (and 25/30fps if you're on nightly), no change to bitrate. Flash this AFTER you do the bitrate mods. Flashing with any of the bitrate mods will replace the Camera app and you'll lose autofocus.

--------------------------------CHANGELOG----------------------------------------
1.0 Initial release.
---- Small bugfix of CM7s camera app + tegra 2 specific stuff.
1.1-pre-alpha
---- Enables autofocus prior to video capture. Cannot be turned off(I don't do UIs,lol). Need to restart app for each video.
Autofocus 1.1
---- No need to restart app.
Known issues:
Does no longer auto adjust for exposure while recording. In between recordings it will auto adjust again. (I have no idea why).
Cannot disable autofocus (have no idea how to do UI).
Rather buggy, lots of freezes. For best results, don't push it. Ie. don't start and stop recordings rapidly, stuff like that.
Don't switch quickly to video when opening app... I think that might be a cm7 issue.
---------------------------------------TODO----------------------------------------
Touch to focus.
continuous auto-focus.
FAQ
Q: Does this work for non-CM7 ROMS?
A: Probably not. Certainly not froyo. But feel free to try and let me know. On stock rom-based builds, please look at somemadcaaant's awesome work at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090785.
Q: T-Mobile LG G2x support?
A: Yes.
Q: What are the disadvantages?
A: Larger filesize. Takes longer to save (give it time to save before doing anything else with the phone). Potential issues with playback on phone.
Q: Does this work with 64 mb ram hack?
A: No. You can still use a high bitrate 720p mod for that kernel, though.
Q: It stutters after a few secs of recording or freezes once in a while, why is this?
A: Your phone/sdcard is having issues trying to keep up. Try a lower bitrate mod. If there is no lower, ask for one. I'm experimenting a little myself, trying to find a stable bitrate.
Q: If I open the Camera app and very quickly change to video I get a black screen?
A: Don't do that. I get the same bug on std. cm7 Camera app.
Q: Isn't it overkill with an FAQ for a camera mod?
A: Yes. But people kept asking the same questions last time I made a thread.
THX so much I will test it and report.
i would also add "touch to re-focus during video capture"(like in htc's) to the to-do list
Tegra 2 is some impressive hardware.... bitrate goes up crazy high. I'll add some different versions, but do people have any thoughts on what kind of bit rates they'd like to see?
Damn, I think maybe my sdcard cant keep up with the ultra high bit rates I'm testing. Starts stuttering after 10 sec. Maybe someone out there with a class 10 card?
When switching on video mode, i get a black screen and FC afterwards.

I reinstalled. Thereafter i was able to start it. But Recording doesn't work so far.It starts at 720P but when ending the recodring, I get a FC. 1080p keeps black screen and no FC and no recording. Maybe because of the 64MB RAM hack in the vorkKernal.
Thanks LeJay
But i have a bug.... The video is lagging(I think my Sd Card is Class 2), so i think it is because of the high bitrate. And sometimes after shooting a video the camera just freezes and i have to pull the battery..

Works beautifully on the G2x as well. Thanks

Agreed.
LeJay, I also think that you should contact Ricardo (arcee) and see if he can merge you changes. He just changed from 1080 to 1088 the other day in the .xml file so we can record 1080p nativly. Kinda wierd that you have to set it to 1088?
The best thing would of course be if he could include all the different modes/profiles for us to freely choose:
"FPS: 15, 25, 30"
"Resolution: 1080p, 720p, ..."
"Bitrate: X, Y, Z"
"Sound: 44 Khz, ..."
etc... because I know my class 2 card can't keep up at the best options. Going to buy me a new one soon though.
Send him a message and see if he's interested. His todo list probably is long though....

Exposure: Adjust so nothing looks too dark or too bright (find the balance).
Contrast: Change to 0 (or something slightly higher). I guess the problem with other apps is that the contrast is set too high and makes shadows look too dark and highlights look too bright.
Sharpness: Set to 0 as the video will look more soft and natural. Sharpening after recording (i.e. using a program) seems to look better…
Denoise: Turn off as colours get washed out and we start to lose some of that detail. (Or keep it on if you really hate noise.)
There’s some issues regarding focussing, manual focus doesn’t seem to work. If you want to set your focus to infinity, after launching the app, set the focus to auto, tap to focus once and then set your focus to infinity.
Ok great now I can record better videos! But at night the video looks blurry, choppy…
The reason why this happens is so that more light can enter the camera for longer, causing the video to look blurry, choppy and noisy. Here is a workaround where you can now record at a constant 30fps even in the dark! This idea came from some OnePlus thread where you could rename a front camera video binary file to the rear camera video binary as the front camera records at a constant 30fps. Be aware there is a trade-off and it is that dark places won’t be as bright at 30fps compared to 15fps!
If you don’t do this, then 15fps could actually be helpful as you can see more with less light! FreeDCam will help a lot with a low light situation with the increased exposure and decreased contrast. You’ll get more noise though. You can either activate the denoiser and/or run a denoiser plugin after you have recorded your video.
(Note: I’m not responsible for anything that might happen on your phone. I’ve only tested this on cm13 so the files might be different across different roms.)
Note that this mod will affect all apps that record video and dark places will look very dark.
Go to /vendor/lib/
Copy the name libchromatix_ov8865_sunny_default_video.so and then back it up (rename it to something like libchromatix_ov8865_sunny_default_video.so1
Create a copy of libchromatix_ov2680_5987fhq_default_video.so and rename it to libchromatix_ov8865_sunny_default_video.so
To revert change libchromatix_ov8865_sunny_default_video.so1 back to libchromatix_ov8865_sunny_default_video.so
Increase bitrate…
You can increase the video bitrate with FreeDCam (or any other video recording app if you mess with media_profile.xml) so you can record all that fine detail (including especially the noise). Here, we’ll change the bitrate to 40Mbps.
Just head to /system/etc/media_profiles.xml and look for: (tip: near the end)
<VideoEncoderCap name="h264" enabled="true"
minBitRate="64000" maxBitRate="20000000"
minFrameWidth="176" maxFrameWidth="1920"
minFrameHeight="144" maxFrameHeight="1088"
minFrameRate="15" maxFrameRate="30"
maxHFRFrameWidth="1920" maxHFRFrameHeight="1080"
maxHFRMode="120" />

Change maxBitRate to 40000000 and save. This edit only tells the phone the maximum bitrate it can encode at.
In FreeDCam, make sure you’re in 1080p! Change video bitrate to 40000000 and audio bitrate 320000. Be aware that the video size will now be around 300MB/min so make sure you have plenty of storage. (I tried using an USB OTG Drive. It works! But the USB device interfered with the microphones and created noise. )
So yeah. The difference might not be that noticeable to some, but to me, it looks a lot better to me. While recording, the viewfinder might lag a bit but in the actual recorded video, it’ll be fine. I might put more samples up or maybe you try this out and get some samples for me! Hopefully there are some people here who are interested in video. :good:

Sorry, this is a video specific guide. I'm making some flashable zips and I'll put some screenshots when I have time. Perhaps @shanx_verma can make a picture guide? If I have lots of time then maybe I'll make one.
Prioritizing FPS Over Exposure
Hi magmar452.
Thank you very much for this. This is some juicy detail you uncovered here!

My front-facing camera also goes into "Slideshow Mode" in low light, so following your exact steps above didn't work for me. However, I fiddled a bit and found what does work for me:
Trade exposure for fps priority:
1. Go to /vender/lib/
2. Rename "libchromatix_ov8865_sunny_default_video.so" to "libchromatix_ov8865_sunny_default_video.so1"
3. Create a copy of "libchromatix_ov8865_sunny_hfr_60fps.so" and rename it to "libchromatix_ov8865_sunny_default_video.so"
EDIT1: Getting decent night time results using "libchromatix_ov8865_q8v18a_default_video.so" as the source. It actually allows me proper exposure/fps control. "libchromatix_ov8865_q8v18a_hfr_60fps.so" handles similarly, but prioritizes fps.
EDIT2: Various vendor libs from github/TheMuppets/xiaomi/cancro also work. However, results are all over the place.
This isn't a proper fix, but it's really good to be Slideshow-free.

Not sure why it works, but it works. Maybe it's coincidence. I still get the occasional brief dips to 20-odd fps, but they're too infrequent to be a nuisance. It's not a proper fix, but it's really good to be Slideshow-free.

I think most roms have switch to the lollipop canera blobs and that's why the front camera is choppy now to fix the 'dark video' problem. I've switched to Resurrection Remix, there are some few changes that had to be made to the instructions (getting the old front camera file) so I can still get 30fps.I'll check it out renaming to the 60fps file. Currently I'm quite busy

So you want to record more natural looking videos on your Redmi 2? Maybe so you get more headroom when video editing? Or does recording in low light look too choppy? Then this might be for you!
Afterreading Redmi 2 on XDA and checking out FreeDCam, I can say that it’s the best looking video recorder I’ve tried on my phone.
Of course you want to see some samples (Sorry if the samples aren’t that great but there weren’t any colourful flowers around. )

Sorry I don't have an Mi 5. See if lowering resolution helps or not having enough light causes this issue.
flashable zip is there?
