Hi Guys,
ive been using the wizard now for around a month and finding some goods things with it. The only downside so far is the speed ; can sometimes get very slow even after ending all programs in the memory. After reading through some threads on here, it looks like it may be worth upgrading the ROM to speed things up. Can anyone give me some ideas and if you think its really worth updating? Thanks.

The rom is the OS of the phone (MDA)
The extended rom is the extra's of the provider like gprs settings, MMS settings...special dedicated to the provider....etc etc
Where to find XDA Mini-s I Wizard Rom?
Sorry for the newbie question but couldn't find the answer clearly. Despite the o2 Uk-XDA website leads to a different version.
thanks to enlighten me my Wizard is SSS000 slow :- (
Sorry to bother people again but am having problems with my data connections etc... with the HTC ROM and was looking to install my original Orange UK ROM.
Can people point me in the right direction...
Thank you,
K
hasnt been released by orange yet so you wont be able to get it back until they do.
have you heard if they will release any ROM update? Orange very rarely offer update any of their phones updates.
it took about 18 months for an Orange ROM for my M600 to "appear". I emailed and called Orange UK support who were hopeless- they couldn't even find the correct department responsible for ROMS!!!
However I tried almost every other WM5 and WM6 ROm during that time. Finally I found a great WM6 ROM with almost no bugs (for my usage).
My advice is try other ROMs until you're happy!
You'll get one in the end and it will be better than Oranges offering.
Thanks. I Just upgraded to the LVSW ROM.
is there anyway to back up (download) the rom on my phone? that way i can get an orange backup rom!
try this

Hi all,
Sorry to be so demanding in my first couple of posts but I have another quick question. I currently have a Vodafone v1615 on which I am considering installing Duttys latest ROM but had a couple of quick questions of someone could help me:
Does this and other ROMs work fine with non-standard HTC Kaisers (for example the vodafone branded v1615?
Do I need to take a backup of my current ROM incase the phone develops a fault in the next 12 months and if so how do I go about this?
Finally, I have installed quick a few ROMs and have the phone setup how I like it but cant help being tempted by the increase of speed offered. Is it really that much of an improvement over standard roms?
Thanks,
Michael

You could search the Stickys and The WIKIs. They cover all your answers. And Is it an improvement over Standard ROMs. Hell to the Yes. I won't want to use a Stock ROM.
P.S. I hope its a typo But When you say you installed a few QuickROM i think you meant CABs. Good to know the difference here.
u can always flash it back to stock in case anything goes wrong
I can't comment on the V1615, but I had a V1605 (Hermes) and that unlocked (CID and SIM) fine and I tried every rom going without problems. There are also quite a few posts from people with the V1615 so I think you're ok. Anyway, as bapssystupr3m3 says, you can always return to stock rom.
I'm using one of Duttys ROMs on my v1615 and i wouldnt dream of going back, its a huge improvement
Just called t-Mobile trying to get my handset replaced, I was told they are working with HTC and release a new software update. I guess this means a new ROM grade? Hopefully radio upgrade as well.

I have been very tempted to flash using a cooked rom, but there is a slight issue with me screen, a ghosting effect. Doesn;t affect the phone just a bit annoying. Just incase i need to send it back, that's why i haven;t flashed it yet.
I'll wait for the offical ROM release, see if this fixes my phone issue.
Anybody have some official news?
Normally TMob are notoriously slow at releasing new ROMs!
yea my MDA is slow and lacks long battery life but i'm scared to flash a cooked wrong as i've never done it before! I'm pretty into this stuff anyway (flashed ipod touch [+ dev for it] and my psp etc) so i know the basics, but is it really risk free, apart from the obvious stupid things?

Fella.. to be straight with you... HTC and T-Mobile SUCK when it comes to Roms.... They will NEVER beat what the guys from xda do with these Roms...
Try either Panosha "shine 1.6" with radio 08 or bepe's with the same radio ROM
you will be totally shocked with how fast these guys cooked Roms are...!
P.s And yes i do own a MDA iv on t-mobile...! and believe me the stock Rom SUCKS..!

Tmobile are planning a rom upgrade any day, the compact iv is actually out of stock beacuse the latest batch has been sent back to have the rom applied, so its doubtful you would get an exchange done in the next couple of days anyway.
Normally tmobile drag their heels with rom upgrades but I think the level of returns has meant that they need to do something and quick.
I'm on my 3rd compact iv but exchanging has been a nightmare as the exchange kept failing due to low stock, so chances are if you went for an exchange now you wouldnt get the handset replaced for a week or 2.
Hopefully the rom upgrade will fix your problems. You can of course flash a rom from here which are so much better, but some like to stick to the stock rom for warranty reasons.
For more info see this thread over at modaco I spoke to tmob for over 30 mins to get this info from them so Imm really hoping rom upgrade will be soon : http://www.modaco.com/content/diamond-diamond-modaco-com/271679/t-mobile-mda-compact-iv-recall/

I hate to disappoint you but that isn't true. There is no Compact IV ROM update in development. The next time you see a ROM update for this device it will be Windows Mobile 7, if at all.
Upgrades and warranty exchange stock are seperate entities, and the returns of the Compact IV are not really much higher than the average with any other phone.
Strange how you're on your third considering their' policy is to repair following the first exchange.

I have only used two cooks Rom, Panosha and bepe's. I personally thinks these two guys are the best cooks.. (some may disagree)
Look for Panosha "Shine on 1.6" and use with radio 5 or 8
Look for bepe's rom if i remember its called "belite" again use with radio 5 or 8.
Also remember use MUST use a hardspl rom before flashing radio and main Rom.
Believe me fella you wont get a stock Rom running faster than these two cooks mentioned above...!
Good luck and ENJOY...!
P.s Don't forget to buy the guys a beer...!

First off you need a Hardspl rom......

3rd choose your cooked rom

Do you have insider information? Since HTC already have a new ROM for the diamond, i guess it would be fairly straigh forward for T-Mobile to adopt this and customize to the horrible pink colour!
Hi there
I posted this in another thread, but got no reply? So I have started another thread hoping for better response.
I do not normally get any answers or replies on this forum for some reason, hopefully i will be more lucky with this post.
I have just bought a used Touch Diamond, and was looking at downloading and upgrading the system with the official ROM upgrade from HTC, (Diamond_HTC_WWE_1.93.405.1)
It doesn't give you that much info on the HTC site, and I was wondering if
1 - it will be WM 6.5?
2 - It say 'Orange' ROM, would this revert the phone back to Orange only sim settings, or would I still be able to use my O2 sim card? The phone is 'Orange' branded but unlocked.
Thank you and here's hoping for help.

I don't think 1.93.405.1 is the current official ROM from HTC. There has to be a newer one like 2.03. xxxxxxxx
Anyway the newest ROM for Diamond is still WM6.1. There is no official WM6.5 ROM.
If your diamond is simlock-free then you can use the orange-ROM with other providers. I had the official ROM from O2 and used it with a T-Mobile-SIM-card without problems.
The only thing is that the provider-settings are false. But there are tools to configure this.
Or you use the official HTC-ROM without branding:
www.htc.com => support
There are also good custom-made ROMs.
Good luck.
Thank you for your reply.
I have tried a couple of ROMs since I got the phone, but there always little niggles with many of them. At the moment I am using a 'BsB Ultimate 6.6' ROM which is quite good, but I would like one with the animated weather reports (the windscreen wiper) and the book like image viewer that you can flick through.
Any idea which I am looking for by that description please?
Thank you
Steve
P.S. Oh and maybe I should mention that i am the O2 network so if there is an O2 ROM available, that would be a bonus.

I had this ROM on my diamond and I was pretty happy with it. I don't know wich language you prefer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521941
It's with Sense 2.1 wich runs really good. A network-wizard to setup your provider settings is integrated.
