Windows Mobile 6.5 Queries - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

Hey all,
I have only three queries which i hope you can answer as the following are bugging the life out of me on the winmo 6.5 rom;
- How do you select multiple files in File Explorer??
- Does anyone know of an add-on for the new today screen which shows connectivity options (ie you can scroll to the side for wifi, scroll again for bluetooth, and turn them off/on etc)
- Where can i get more add-ons! lol i appreciate this is a beta OS so there are hardly any developers working on apps atm, but hey! Gotta ask.
Thanks in advance!

In file explorer, you can first hold your stylus over an item to select it, then, while holding down shift on the Xperia hardware keypad, move up or down to select more than one file. Doesn't look like that area's built for ease of use, does it? Maybe try Total Commander instead

cool, thanks pmd- what i ended up doing was to use kwikemap to hard map the au key to ctrl as not all the fils i wanted to select were next to each other.
For reference,this is the config-
7A=00
$7A=7A
so:
au = ctrl
shift+au = au

Bit odd, on mine I remapped the ae key using this code for CTRL:
7A=+11
cwh

Sorry, yeah you are right cwh- was obviously too early for me

Remap softkey buttons?

I've seen people talk about remapping most of the other keys, but not these. Since I'm now on WM Pro, I've found I don't use these buttons at all... I always just use the touchscreen. Since we're always hurting for hard keys, any way to remap these to something useful?
Registry edits to change soft keys applications:
Change the program opened by the Left soft key: (I've shown the current setting):
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\Open = "\Windows\Calendar.exe" (include the quotes)
To change the title of the Left soft key: (again, current setting shown):
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112\ = Calendar (no quotes)
The right soft key is the same pattern except the key number is 113 and it may not exist - you may have to create it.
I installed the following cab and it worked great. Once installed you can change the soft keys from Start-->Settings-->Personal-->Soft Key

Thanks... I was just coming back to post that I ended up installing AE Button Plus to handle this. I would have been completely happy with the solution you posted, so thanks! But I've spent the past hour finding all kinds of handy thing to assign with the single, double, triple, and press hold options.
is there a plugin that will display the programs in the program folder as a list?
(sorry, posted in the wrong place. ignore!)
I suffer from fat finger disorder as well and usually hit send too fast.
Which version of AEBplus do you need? Can it be done with the freeware version?
Yes, the freeware version works... just has a nag screen when you boot the phone.
The free version (1.01) doesnt have settings for the soft keys....
I guess you have to buy it
I'm sorry, I'm using the "trial" version. But I've not seen anything about it being a time limited trial, only that it has the nag screen and lacks the Action list:
What is the difference between trial and registered version?
Two things only:
Splash screen appears during device starting up.
"Action list" is blocked in trial mode

Hi, I'm using Toshiba G900 with WM6 and I have the folder
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\113\ but it is empty. What kind of register should I create - "String Value", "MultiString Value", "DWORD Value" or "Binary Value". What the name of the register should be? Is there other regs that must be created to do the job? Thank you in advance!

OK well this forum is for the HTC Tytn 2, AKA Kaiser, AKA Tilt (not tilt 2)..

MagiKB

http://www.mobiion.com/magikblite.html
I am using this, I have to say it is much much better when using the hard keys. No need to press Shift or Control anymore! Like typing on the Treo...
It was a chore setting up the key mapping, but it works perfectly afterwards.
Let me know if anyone want the key map to Att Tilt.
I have been looking for the key mapping forever for this app
please post the keymap for the ATT Tilt for the MagiKB 1.1 program. I came from a Treo 750 to a Tilt and it was the one program that I missed using (did NOT wanna set up all the mapping - wasn't quite sure how). Thanx
Looks nice really.
great program - please post the mapping
+1 post the mapping!!!
Att Tilt Keymap
Well, here is the key maps.
Please note, I am using a ATT TILT, with OEM ROM, without the Cingular addons, but if yours is not a TILT, then you might need a corresponding key map set up if the hardkeys are different from the TILT.
Also, I set up the key mapping so that only the keys with LETTERS will be used (when holding down, or double clicking). That means, for the symbol "," and "." and "$" you will still have to press the Fn key.
I can always change the mapping to whatever suits you, or you can do it yourself....
Install MagiKB first, then move this .lay file to your My Documents\MagiKB Lite folder. Then you can select the key map from MagiKB program.
thanks a lot - a great help
Could you please re-post the tilt keymap download link. Other link doesn't seem to be working. Thanks for the hard work on it.
EDIT: Sorry, got it. Thanks again.
you mentioned there's a difference between the Tilt? Would there be a difference to stock Kaiser then?
I have an ATT Tilt, so I don't know if the keyboard layout is exactly the same as an Unbranded Kaiser (I don't have a unbranded kaiser to look at).
If the keyboard layout is the same, then the key map should work.
Nevermind. It works.
Does anyone know how to capture the key for the left arrow/comma on the tilt? I would like to map it to the comma, but it's not in this key map file.
Adding additional key mapping to MagiKB ?

Solved/ignore; Can you explain how to map the directional arrow keys and their Fn counterparts? I like the way MagiKB simplifies capitalization and the Number Pad especially, but would like the WIN key mapped to "CTRL" - makes copy, cut and paste much easier.

OMG, this has got to be the best tip ever!
Entering items such as the "?" were always the one thing I hated about the keyboard (I came from a Treo 750). Now thanks to you I LOVE the keyboard
Thank you very much!
Thanks again!!
No problem, I came from a Treo 650, so the Tilt's keyboard bothered me too. This makes the transition to a Tilt so much smoother.
About the key maps, I am currently away from the country and unable to play with the keymaps, but I will be back home in 2 weeks.
I might get a chance to play with it here, in which case I'll post an update.
Sorry!
Anyone tried Magikb with WM 6.1? Installs, looks fine, but none of the commands work. Am I missing something?

After installation, select a proper key map from menu or edit the current key map.
Hi:
I was using this layout and program and LOVED it. The only problem is that after upgrading to WM6.1 (official ATT), The layout will no longer appear, when I go to select a layout.
Any suggestions?
Thanks so much!!

Yeah because the layout was stored in My Documents\MagiKB Lite in phone memory by upgrading to wm6.1 you deleted that folder with the layout in it.
Download the layout again and put it to the above-mentioned folder.

keyb win key -> ctrl key

anyone interested in a realy smal (4.5k) app that turns your keyb windoze key into a ctrl key? it doesnt show anything onscreen and you can only close it through a process manager but i find it incredibly useful for going through my irssi tabs in putty.
if anyone is interested il upload it
hellz yeah
that'd be sweet, but only if windows can copy and past with it!
yep thats how i pull links from irc - stil on kaiser atm and opera mini wont let me upload files so ill upload it when im back at pc
here it is - i couldnt get it to work like a real ctrl key (i.e. press and hold then press another key) - instead you gotta first press and release the win key and then press the other key, but it does the job
maybe i'm little slow tonight. . .a few drinks don't help, but where do i put the file? startup?
run it first then copy it to startup
sorry, yea just run it from anywhere and itll hook into the keyboard and turn your windows key into a ctrl key - hope someone finds it useful
This is exactly what I've been hoping for. Thanks for this. Makes copy/paste so much easier!
Does it work with Office Mobile, for example, selecting two or three different cells that are separated in Excel?
yep it works as expected in excel
glad people are finding this useful ^-^
After a quick search, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks for sharing!!
Control & Escape Keys on Slide Keyboard
Hi, I just got an HTC FUZE a few weeks ago and I noticed there are no Ctrl or Esc keys on the slide keyboard. I have to hook up with UNIX servers a lot via VPN when I am on the go and these keys are essential in a UNIX session. Can your app be tweaked to possibly map the OK key to Ctrl and the Left Shift key to Esc. This would be extremely useful. I was able to partially solve this by loading the "Happy Tapper" screen keyboard layouts that have Ctrl and Esc keys. But it sure would be much more convenient to use the slide keyboard. Thank you to Doug for sending me the link to this thread.

HTC Touch Pro fpsCE emu

Hello. I would to tell you first, that I am not so good in English, because I am from Czech Republic, so I dont know what type to search, what do I
need to know.
I have HTC Touch Pro, downloaded latest FpseCE.
1. What BIOS is the best?
2. How to setup controller?
I am not sure, if is possible to do this.
4. Has anyone Touch Pro too and best ini for it?
Thanks for all tips, I'll be glad, if someone help me.
Check out the forums over at http://www.fpsece.net/forum2/ and you will find the INI settings, Bios you are supposed to rip from your own ps1, to legally play the games, but i'm sure that you could google them.
I use WASD as up down left right, and IJKL as tri, squ, x, cir. and Space as start, and QEUO as L1, R1 etc.
It is a great emulator!
surfing do you mind sharing ur .ini file with us as thoes buttons sound perfect lol
I just have the stock ini at the moment, and just changed the keys in the menu.
You have to click on the second button on the bottom right, where the controller would plug into, and click on the buttons to program what you want.
I only got 0.10 a couple days ago, so havnt had much time to play with it, but as soon as i do i'll post an ini.
I do love the program, and i'll donate to it when i get some spare time.
DredSensor could help.
Too bad the D-pad on the Raphael is so bad, the button layout is so much worse than my old Wizard. But I did find a possible solution.
On XDA, I found DredSensor. You can reprogram the Dpad keys for each application. I haven't yet played with it and FPSECE v.10, but it looks like I can:
Map "Home" and "Call" keys to "Left".
Map "Back" and "End" keys to "Right".
Here is an example of what someone did with DredSensor for the game TombRaider:
To use it, you need:
1) An HTC Touch Diamond (it's the only one i have so i can't test it on other models)
2) Install the .cab
3) Reboot your HTC
4) Run a game (or app or ...)
5) Get your stylus out and back-in, in less than 1 second
6) Click "Yes"
----- A config window opens:
7) Check that Type = "HardKeySimul"
8) Click "Ok"
Change:
- Home: "Key:0xC2"
- Back: "Key:0xC3"

Planning on Developing applications for windows mobile (not wp7)

Hi
I decided i will try and develop some applications, to give something back to the community for all the help they have given me over the past year.
So any suggestions for apps?
battery time remaining
isn't there an app for that already?
something like a .cab to do this?
something that we can install that when we hit "ok" or "x" it will exit any app or process thats running.
so we dont have to stop things with a task manager that we thought we had stopped but they are still running in the back ground.
i know the option is in some task managers but something small just for this problem will save having to have two task manaers installed the default one and the other one to get the "ok" or "x" to close option.

Hey thanks for that, it will save me going to the task manager.
I downloaded visual studio 2010 but it doesn't include wm, so i am downloading vs 2005 instead.
virtual d-pad for playing game
Its a good idea but you rould be able to press 2 buttons on screen at once. No multitouch.
how about copy and paste ?
how about having copy and paste work in everything instead of just the apps that support it?
so when ever you come across any text input or menu u can hold the stylus down 4 a few seconds and get a copy, cut, paste, delete etc.
just like the inbuilt windows menu.
very handy for cross app text input!
