Calendar sync not working on G1 with Cyanogen 4.0.2

Hi , I hope someone will be able to help me:
I have a rooted G1 which runs Cyanogen 4.0.2 ROM, before this one 4.0.1.
Everything went fine until yesterday or the day before, when I noticed my calendar wasn't up to date anymore. I connected the G1 to my pc and started 'adb logcat', this is what is logged when trying to sync the calendar:
(note that I have replaced my real email with [email protected] for privacy reasons)
Code:
D/SyncManager( 146): failed sync operation authority: calendar account: [email protected] extr
delay: 0 key: {authority: calendar account: [email protected] extras: [force=true ]} rowId: 1
After some searching I found this problem mentioned before but no concrete solution to this...
I've tried clearing the calendar cache as described here to no avail.
I also tried a complete system wipe but the same problem persisted.
To make sure that it wasn't something at the google server I fired up my HTC magic which is still running stock software, and it synced fine right away.
So this definitely has to do something with my G1, only if anyone could point me in the right direction...
BTW:
Gmail and contacts sync goes just fine!
Thnx in advance!
Cyanogen calendar sync...
Hi all,
Exact same problem here, HTC Magic. I am new to the hacking, rooting, cracking in the android world but installing Cyanogen 4.0.2 was very easy with recovery flasher. ( http://gizmodo.com/5341915/android-hacking-for-the-masses)
I can not speak for any other versions but this version is great except for the sync of Google calendar. This also explained why my battery did not last for a day while is was doing nothing much. Calendar kept syncing without result but was trying all the time.
I hope that Cyanogen can fix this and if he can not or will not that's ok with me. I a happy that there are people who can make things better than they originally were. Good job! However calendar is important to me so perhaps i will switch to another ROM.
@bunster:
Are getting the same error when start 'adb logcat'?
Thanks for mentioning the battery life part, mine had bad battery live to but I failed to make the link to the sync problem, I was on the verge of replacing my battery LOL!
Just upgrade to 4.0.3.1 this morning, problem persisted
@Bunster: Are you using google hosted apps or a regular gmail account?
Because a colleague of mine also has Cyanogen 4.0.2 running on his G1, and his calendar syncs fine, the only difference is that he's using a regular gmail account while I'm using hosted apps account...
I have the same problem.
Previously with JF 1.5 the same calendar of my google account was syncing just fine.
Hope there is a solution soon..

Are you running google apps or regular gmail account?
Updated to 4.0.4, problem not gone...
I found something else:
When looking at the logcat output there's a URL in there which points to one of my calendars (there are URL's for each of my calendars - 5 in total). And when I try to enter this URL into my browser, it tells me that '[email protected]' doesn't have the necessary rights to view that calendar.
However I am the admin of my domain so I should be able to view all my calendars...

There has to be something else involved...

Yeah, nothing good however...
Check this link.
It's an issue that has been file on the GoogleCode page for CyanogenMod ROM.
If look at Steve's (=Cyanogen) post you'll see what i mean:
4.0.4 won't be updated. Any calendar/sync related issues for the next release should
be reported as an Android (Google) bug.

So he's basically saying it's not his fault but a Calendar bug and we have to take it up with Google.
Google off course won't do sh*t about this since it works perfectly on stock ROMs and even other custom ROMs.
As a software developer/tester I can understand that this bug is situated in the Calendar app itself, and since Cyanogen received the C&D letter from Goog he can't/does not want to modify and/or distribute this app.
However, since this only occurs on his ROM, it must be something he did that triggers this bug. So what I'd like to see from Cyanogen, isn't a fix in the calendar app, but rather a workaround in his ROM...
I've read that deleting all recurring events will 'fix' the problem, however that's not an option for me since I use a seperate calendar to store all birthday dates for friends and family in (birthdays being off course yearly recurring events, under normal conditions )
I hope Cyanogen reads this and will provide a fix somehow.
As I said i'm a software developer and I know it's f*ucking frustrating if you have to deal with other people's mess, but I think it's clear we shouldn't expect a fix from Google on this one...
so let's hope only in a cyanogen work... it seems to be the only solution for continue to use this fantastic rom with the calendar sync...
4.2.4
Am I the only one who still has this problem??

Is there any other application which sync the calendar?

Asurion address book out!

Write Asurion in Market and download the address book and the mix ins you want to get installed...
Amazing app, let's see how it develops...
im gonna bumb this cause this app is pretty cool. It connects all your contacts with facebook and twitter or w/e social network u use. It takes a couple min to setup and sync all your contacts though. I liked the notifications that it gave you for each contact. I did find it a little slow and the interface isnt really apealing. All in all, its pretty good just needs work on the interface and on the speed as well...
Havin some difficulty figuring out how to set up different notifications.
Pictures for contacts dont update with the FB page.
Ugly UI.
But to be honest the FB portion is better than the FB app. Its worth it for that alone. Alot of functionality seemingly. Absolutely needs to be streamlined.
still too laggy for daily use. it froze my phone for a good 4 minutes.
I messed with it a little. Seemed to be really slow on my G1 with CM 4.1.999.
My personal faveorite contacts app is still StarContact - I just wish they'd update it... I'd at least like to see contact photos. I hate it when good apps go abandoned.
As it stands it certainly isnt an Addybook replacement by any means.
I do hope they stick with it.
This is easily replacing my phonebook. I love it! I don't know what these other people are talking about with lag, but on cyan 4.2.2 it is phenomenal! I am blown away by it and am so glad something similar to voxmobiles upcoming effort has come out.
i'd love to try it out, unfortunately it seems it's not yet available here in germany - at least not for me
if someone could pass it on to it'd be much appreciated
cheers
anyone have a direct link? I can't find it in the market. Thanks!
Yeah I cant find it either.
I read in one of the market comments that it doesn't sync with Google, is that true?
cant find this in the market i found the you tube and speed dialer but no address book. anyone have a link?
Those of you who can't find it, where do you live. My buddy from Canada couldn't find it either. Might be a regional issue but I'm not sure.

Also have T-Mobile USA and found it. Search for Asurion.
It's a great app, but I found it has issues with the MixIn settings. It still gives notifications even though I disable them. It appears other people have issues with the settings as well that want to change update intervals so they don't use so much data. Keep in mind this is still in beta. Can't wait for an update.
can't find it. I have t-mobile USA. searched asurion and only the speed dialer and you tube mix in shows up. I'm running xrom if that helps. even if i try getting the link straight form the website, it doesn't show up. weird.

my Hello IM! is gone!

I paid for Hello IM! months ago from the android market. Just recently i flashed a new rom, when i went into "my downloads" hello IM! was no longer listed as "purchased" and i cant seem to find it on the market.
anyone else notice this? kinda lame! it was a 10$ app!
I just searched for "hello" on the market there and it came up as the 5th result. Did you login on the new phone? Did you use the same account as you did when you purchased? Apps are linked to accounts, not phones. I know it isn't a great deal of help but it's all I can think of.
i can see it in the market just fine. what rom did you flash?
interesting i cant find my paid apps nesoid and hyperspace, iw onder if there is something up with paid apps disapearing?

Actually oddly enough I just helped a friend with the same exact problem.
Find multiplefacets inc's support email, explain the situation and tell them your account info. They would have your purchase history on file and they can get your purchase back to you very easily.
the issue is with the rom you flashed probably...it probably doesn't have paid and protected apps allowed.

[Q] I can't remove stock IM in Aria

Hi everyone,
I've tried connecting to the stock IM in the Aria but it keeps crashing on me ('Force close' kept coming up).
I've installed Fring now and would like to uninstall IM to free up every little space I can but it doesn't have the Uninstall option when I go to 'Manage Applications'. Instead, there's a 'clear data' button…
• Why does IM crash all the time? It doesn't even let me login at all.
• How do I uninstall IM?
• What other good alternatives do you have besides Fring if I only want access to Yahoo Messenger and MSN? Facebook IM is a plus but not essential.
Thank you!
Are you rooted?
If you are, you can manually remove the APK, and then adb uninstall the package.
What stock IM app are you talking about removing?
Also, eBuddy handles all those IM clients, including Facebook.

htc IM. it does aim/msn and yahoo.
Hi,
Yes you're right, I meant the HTC IM.
And yes, my Aria is rooted (I bought it already rooted, so I missed out on the learning curve of rooting). More of a do-it-yourself and learning on the job person.
How do I manually remove the APK? And what is adb? I searched in the XDA wiki but couldn't find those acronyms.
My apologies for being a bother. Hopefully I'll be able to be of use here to other newbies in the near future.
Thanks again!

This thread has all the details on how to remove unwanted stock apps once you are rooted.
ADB stands for Android Debug Bridge - it is a command line interface and you get it can download and install Android SDK from here.
Good luck,
Thanks capsin! I'll be learning to do those as I get more familiar with the Android and basic stuffs

LG apps

Why on earth everyone is killing the LG apps?
Why on earth nobody gives the possibility to put them back?
How should I do besides using stock?
People I just can't understand... I need it to sync contacts and calendar, am I the only one using outlook?
******* use a stock rom then :S cheeez a bit harsh title isn't it, nothing to do with android development
It has to instead.
I want a custom rom, I just want a specific app to go with it.
Who else should I ask, Jay Leno?
Then custom one urself.
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda premium
you can sync contact to google server if you're using a custom ROM.
or there are many apps to backup your sms, contact, calendar on Play Store.
you need stock LG ROM to use LG PC Suite.
Man, lots of usefull answers...
If I wasn't doing engineering somewhere else, maybe I could have the time to start learning kernels, kitchens, bootloaders...
But then spending already 12hrs a day coding, maybe I CAN'T do this too?

Yeah, that's a dev spirit!
I'm just a bogging man, doing nothing in his life and pretending...
To all people reading this:
I work just like you. I spend hours a day CODING for work, I work on embedded devices, and it's low level C coding everywhere.
I'm not *****ing.
It's just that I plug my phone in and I sync everything, including work calendars and todos.
Now maybe I'm the last one using Outlook instead of gmail, so that's why I'm asking.

why not make a gmail account and let it sync all the data with your outlook then??
then you just can sync your google account with your phone voila!
maybe i am thinking to much from microsoft and is this not possible
but every good mail application should have a sync modes to sync with web services?
since i don't use outlook and never did i don't know
You might wanna try one of these...

Google is your friend
Everyone is obsessing with online storage...
Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't want google to know who I connect with, or how do I do that.
What's the problem in having the contacts on your pc? Everyone has another pc.
Why are you giving up your privacy to google?
I was happy with my contacts shared only on my computer, until I had to use google because everyone just couldn't bother using another app...
There some apps inmarker for direct sync with outlook, like this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android_sync.app.note
MyPhoneexplorer I think do it also and I'm sure many others do that. Yu can also ask for someone to upload the lgpcsuite apk.

Yes I must say I didn't try at all. But I've read some people posts saying that myphoneexplorer works quite well. Sorry I'm one of the cloudy ones, I don't use outlook lol, for one main reason that is I use Linux at home and XP at work so more simple to sync online.
Even if I must say that it's quite annoying that Google has all our eggs in its bucket lol....

Actually, I think you are *****ing, which seems a bit contrary to the general spirit of these forums and probably not much appreciated.
I use OUTLOOK on my desktop and sync it (email, contacts, diary) to my phone but it's through an Exchange server, which all the gapps can talk to. Maybe try one of Paul from MoDaCo's custom ROMs -you can bake one with the LG apps left in...
As far as this thread can go... civil.. errr.. almost!!
