Ok... I've had nothing but bad experiences using this program.
First of all, when I installed it, it corrupted my Today window, making it look completely garbled, although I can still click on it, just can't tell what I'm clicking on. The programs still work and show up fine however. It still does this after I uninstalled it.
Second, when I run it, I can't get it to successfully connect to the Internet using my computer. I use the same program on my PC to connect to my HTC Universal (Qtek 9000) which runs WM5.0 and have no problems.
Anyone else having the same issue?
Happy New year to everybody...
Mine has started off bad, I just returned from my X-mas/New year break and I can no longer sync, install or uninstall programs ?
when I connect my PDA to the PC it sees it, but it can't sync, if I go to remove/add programs it shows empty nothing installed.
I can even brows the PDA but I can't copy files to or from it?
I'm lost, can anyone help me out on this I really don't want to do a hard reset.
Thanks.
Anyone.........?
tryed to reinstall active-sync?
did you installed some program has to do with network (kind of ftp-server or something else that uses some ports in you network-config)
i had the problem with filezilla ftp-server, using port 990 for ssl-authentification.
the problem was, active-sync also uses this port, but filezilla starting as service was bound to this, so AS could not work.

Hi Edi, No I haven't installed anything, but I think my problem might be something else (worse), I just realised that I can no longer copy move or delete files from either the PDA or the MC, I get an "access is denied" error.
Anyone have any idea what might have caused this? and better still, is there a fix.
I seem to be repeating myself lately with this answer, so I apologise if it seems down-right obvious, but have you ensured you have the latest version of ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Centre?
The reason I ask this is because I too was experiencing Sync problems using WMDV, but realised I didn't have the latest version (it doesn't automatically update with Windows Update, WTF?). Windows Mobile 6 is obviously programmed slightly different from revious versions, so updating Sync software is a simple step that's often missed...

Hi Audio,
Thanks for the reply, but I do have the latest version and I never had a problem with it until this week.
Just so i can try and help, what is it you are using Dave? AS or WMDV?

Hi Audio, I use both, AS at work and WMDV at home, both used to work fine.
And do you experience the issue on both?
EDIT: Apparently, there may be a problem with ActiveSync 4.5. Just take a look at this list of complaints about it lol.
One user stated:
"I was using AS4.2 with my ETen M700, everything was fine. I wanted to upgrade to WM6 and teh instructions said I needed to use AS4.5 I installed it and tried to connect my device - disaster! The rapimgr.exe process runs at 99% and slows the computer to a crawl.
After 3 attempts, I uninstalled it, and re-installed AS4.2 (available from www.microsoft.com) and now things are working again. "
This may be worth doing to see if this soilves your problem...

Yes I have tried it on three different machines, I can see the PDA but it won't sync or let me move or copy files.
It look like I might have to do a hard reset, but I'm hoping not
Also, a chap on a premium (you have to pay for support!) site said the following, which seems slightly similar:
"I've been using ActiveSync for a while now to sync outlook up to my motorola q. For some strange reason it's stopped working. The connection takes place, you get the little signal saying that ActiveSync picks up on it, the "Connecting" message, followed by the "Synchronizing" message... and nothing. It just hangs there. I've reinstalled ActiveSync and Outlook and did a hard reset on the phone. I'm convinced the issue is with the desktop, if I take the same PDA home, I'm able to sync up with my PC there. Does anyone know what happens during the Synchronizing phase and what could be possibly causing it to hang? ActiveSync 4.5 is a new beast, solutions to the older versions don't seem to apply.
If I hit the Stop button, ActiveSync hangs on the "Stopping" message and ActiveSync on the phone becomes unresponsive until I unplug the cable."
So even a Hard reset didn't solve this guys problems...
I would recommend uninstalling AS 4.5 from your machine, and installing 4.2. Reason being, i believe you need your phone connected to the computer when you install syncing software, so it more than likely "fiddles" with some very well hidden settings on the device. If this is the case, 4.5 may have [email protected] it up, but 4.2 may be your savior.
If you decide to give it a go, let us know how it goes...

Hi Audio, I don't know what to do, I started another thread about no longer being able to either copy, move, delete, install or uninstall anything, I really don't think it's a sync problem anymore. I will wait another day or so and then I'm going clear storage and start again.
what really pisses me off is my wife has no problems at all? perhaps my PDA is ******.
Exactly the same has just happened to me - I tried to connect to ActiveSync this morning to copy a file across via bluetooth, but it refused to connect. I plugged in the USB cable, nothing - the phone charges but ActiveSync does not want to know.
I deleted the device in AS, tried to add a new one - nothing found.
I last sync'd up fine 4 days ago.
I am using Dutty's DualTouch v1.1 release.
I am using AS 4.5.0 build 5096
If I discover services via BT from the kaiser to the computer it finds the ActiveSync service.
I have done a soft reset, no difference, restarted the PC, same. I haven't applied any Windows Updates or made any changes since it stopped working.
I might try rolling back to AS 4.2
Edit: Same with AS4.2
Think it might be clear storage time
Cleared storage and then it worked fine...will take the opportunity to upgrade to dualtouch v2
Hi Blaze, damn it's annoying isn't it, my next move is clear storage as well.
Hope mine works again.
It's bloody happened again I reflashed the rom with Duty's Dual Touch V2. Much better rom, but activesync has just given up again via BT and usb. Maybe it's some inherent problem with WM, or with Duty's roms - which are you using Dave?
I've tried it on a fresh build of XP Pro on an old machine with nothing than AS & Outlook 2k3 on - same, AS sees the device, but wont sink. Problem seems with the device...

Good Point I didn't even notice, put it down to stress...
PS: For anyone who's interested, I ended up doing a hard reset, reinstalled my apps, restored my backups and it's working fine now.
Did you have F-secure Mobile installed? If not, I could take that away from possibilities that's causing this problem
I currently own the Tilt(8925). Ive been dealing with this issue for about 2 weeks already but I want to be able to use my phone properly.
I cant uninstall things, move, paste, delete things because when the procedure is about to start. The phone just restarts, it happens every single time.
When i try to connect it to my computer, right when the active sync connection is about to be made, the phone restarts. I cant do anything, I can't install new roms, CID unlockers, put stuff in. Someone help me with this plz. I tried doing everything in the bootloader screen as well but nothing worked, i havent flashed this phones rom yet so its still CID locked.
Hi
You do not say if you had this working OK in the past.
I would try each of these things in sequence:
1
Go to
Start>Settings>Connections>USB to PC tab and make sure the "Enable advanced network functionality" box is unchecked.
2
I would be tempted to download and re-install the latest AS to the PC.
2
Using a tool like Sktools or Memmaid, I would look at the notifications queue entries to see if there is one that might be auto-restarting the phone on detecting an RS232 connection. AS can be set to do all sorts of things when you connect the cable. (Unfortunately, even looking at them with Sktools may not reveal exactly what they do without further research.)
BUT do not delete the following entries:
repllog.exe - AppRunAfterRndisFnDetected
repllog.exe - AppRunAtRs232Detect
(these are a pest to put back if you delete them and they ARE needed)
Mike
did you install anything at all on the phone?
it was working fine when i first brought the phone. I brought the phone new. I am using the default Att rom. Ive had the phone for a month now, but the last two weeks ive been experiencing this problem. Yea i installed a few things on my phone but it was still working fine for a few days then one day it started rebooting no matter wat i did.
i cant uninstall anything either.
btw, i have windows vista.
edit. Its official, tried everything above and nothing works at all, i tried reinstalling windows mobile device center on my PC and Active sync on another computer. As soon as the phone is about to establish an activesync connection, it just reboots.
Is there anyway for me to install a CID unlocker in the bootloader screen? then reinstall the default att ship rom.
it looks the only way i will ever be able to connect my phone to a computer again.
why would u need to reinstall the default ship rom? just hard reset it
Hey guys,
I bought a HTC Touch Diamond in Dec 2008 and it was more or less fine until a few weeks ago when it just messed everything up. I brought it back to the store and got a new one last Friday. I was busy setting it up the whole weekend (installing Skype, Palringo, Fring, registry editor, .cab-file to get rid of the problem that the keyboard is not changing back to letters (was stuck in numeric mode), Google maps didn't work etc etc.
But now I have a new weird problem. After all the installations, everything worked fine. Then I started to put some pictures via bluetooth on the device, all fine, but out of a sudden, it's so sloooooooow!!! First I thought it's not working at all anymore, but by now I found out that it just takes ages to open programs, e.g. File Explorer, Browser, Settings... or when I receive a sms or email and click on it to open it fully... doesn't matter what I do, except using touch flo, this is working fine. And when the programs are finally running (after no joke about a minute), they are running very fast.
I have a Vodafone branding but am using it with an o2 sim. I never did a rom update or anything.
Does anybody know what that could be and could you help me???
Of course I could just return it again, but it would really suck as I just set it up, put all the contacs on etc (Active Sync isn't working as my pc has vista...), so it would be really great if anybody could help me!!!
Cheers,
mondiera

To save you a lot of time. You do not have to install some kind of ActiveSync on Vista. It is included and called DeviceCenter. Just a new name but with the same functionality as ActiveSync.
Did you soft-reset the device when noticing that it takes to much time to load an application?
Did you disable TouchFlo (eats a lot of RAM) for some time to see what happens?
Hey,
Thanks for answering so quickly... Yes, I did MANY resets, but it doesn't help. I also deleted a lot of files again, but didn't help either, and there's not much on the device anyway (data storage 51.45MB full, 34.37MB free, program storage 64.14MB full, 46.90 free, internal storage just 37.72MB full). And yes, I also enabled touchflo but it didn't help as well. As I said, touchflo is working fine, when the programs are running they are very quick within the application (quicker than my old device was), but UNTIL they are open, it really takes about 40-60 seconds - just not acceptable!
And thanks for the tip with the Vista Device Center, but I just connected the phone via usb, opened this Vista Device Center, clicked on settings, chose usb/bluetooth etc, the device asked whether to connect via Active Sync which I confirmed but now nothing is happening? And Vista Device Center says it's not connected...? This phone is really driving me insane! Seems like I have to return it again because I really can't work with it being sooo sloooooow :-(

I think you should. Maybe you should first try to connect to ActiveSync with your next device and after that start installing.
I'm sorry that I can't help you out.
You hav a faulty memory chip. Get it replaced.

Thanks guys, I think I will... I really can't keep it like that. And if even you don't know a solution, I will get it replaced. Thanks anyway!!
phone hell in crazy town.....
Woke up this am and simply tried to sync my diamond2 (running dutty HG) with my PC, its always worked before but today it decided it didnt want to play ball.
it kept saying it couldnt sync this device, and to run AS troubleshooter, which unsurprisingly did nothing, however it still allowed you to "explore" ie browse the folders etc.
after running through all the obvious things (restarting devices in various orders, re attaching all usb connections) and having had AS issues at various times with previous versions of AS and WM, i uninstalled and reinstalled activesync on the laptop. this failed and still gave the same error but still allowed browsing.
during all of this i also noticed that some pages and the settings tab in the opera browser were causing the browser to shut down. it too was working fine last night, i rebooted the phone several times, and suddenly opera would give a couldnt find the opera armvi operating file........... hmmmmmmm its part of the os so couldnt just reload the cab and i still had the activesync issue to solve.
so i'd been meaning to rebuild the phone for while and do clean installs of some of the cabs etc and decided that this would probably also solve the activesync issue, so i reloaded the ROM via the bootloader, and proceded to go about the usual set up and install procedure again.
everything went great until i tried load the first cab from the sd card........ "unsuccessfull" , next one was the same, tried loading another cab from the PC, unsuccessfull, tried to connect to active sync still the same error, unable to sync but able to explore..........
at least opera works :/
any ideas on why the CAB's won't install now, its almost like the phones "read only"....
and any ideas on whats up with activesync????? or how to reset the relationships???? without it i cant even load on the contacts after the reset
--- ok after a reflashing for 3rd time the CAB files now installs ok, but the active sync issue still reminas
Are you hard resetting after flashing.
If so, you may want to consider running a Task 29 or flashing back to your stock ROM first.
Check your USB to PC settings and play around with "enable faster data", if its checked, uncheck and visa versa.
I just want to add one thing..sometimes when a microSD card starts going bad, strange things really happen to the device. If you have a extra microSD card handy, try it, just to check.
