Hey Trinity users, I just bought a trinity recently and have upgraded the software. I was just wondering how to get some more bands on my phone.
I searched around and could not find much. But I am guessing you should be able to lock on to UMTS 850 + 2100 especially if you are with 3mobile in Australia and want to use the Telstra Roaming.
Any help would be appreciated! Cheers!

Can Anybody Helpme Please????
You can change the band in Comm Manager. There is a tab called Band.
And only assuming you bought the appropriate device, since if you bought the European device, then you do not have the 850 support.

Which country's running 850 mhz ... I thought that band was reserved for GSM-R (GSM Rail private network) - Or at least it is in the UK !.
I believe some countries in south america uses the 850band, and the US. It is wise to read the specs when you buy a phone. the current diamonds (european, asian) do not support 850. It would have been a quad-band band phone, not a tri-band if that was the case. There will probably be a US-version, but afaik it's not available as of now. sorry.
Im from South America, I thuoght that in my country works the 900 mhz, but only works with the 850mhz. I dont know what to do, i suppose i have to sell it on ebay cause nobody has a solution. thansk anyway
Why dont you return it to where you bought it from??...i dont know the laws of your country but if you have only had it a few days then you should be entitled to a refund as the phone is not suitable for you.

You have a touch diamond, right? I have it too and also if on HTC site is wrote that diamond is tri band, with radio 1.00.25.05 and radio 1.00.25.06 is actually working as quad band GSM.
Check this post, the guy tested the quad band rom with a professional communication tester:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2413582&postcount=122
You have flashed the .05 radio? What carrier are you using?
im from colombia
i'm from colombia and i install the radio rom 25.05 and now is working in 850
before i installed the signal sucks with the 25.03... but now is better than never before.
i think that your need to reflash the 25.05 radio rom
Im going to try again my friend!!!!! My carrier is Movistar.
I would let you know what happens!!!!
thank you very much, i appreciatte your concern about my problem, thanks my friend!!!
it works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks my friend i really appreciatte!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you rule!!!!
Hello everyone.. I'm also from Colombia and I want to give you all information about what i did in order to solve the issue of the 850mHz.
I flashed HardSPL and ROM for Radio as indicated in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211 (As many people I'm using HardSPL 1.40.OliNex
and Radio 1.00.25.05 )
I also flashed a cooked ROM from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2405336&postcount=1
I did all that yesterday so I havent been able to test signal outside from Bogota, but improvement on the device and the signal reception is obvious. I also did the test of dialing *#*#364#*#* on the key pad of the phone and I saw that the phone was working on the 850mHz frequency.
I have tested the device with two different carriers... Movistar and Comcel withouyt any problem. I was hoping with Comcel to get 3G signal (due to activation of 850mHz frequency) but still does not work. Some say that is imposible due to hardware issues, some other people says that Hardware in Diamond is capable of 3G US standard.... LETS SEE!!! HOPEFULLY SOME OF THE GURUS ARE WORKING ON THIS ISSUE.
It works in Mexico
Hello there.
Hell i bought mine directly from HTC, it was shipped with a spanish ROM 1.93 and radio .05. As soon as I inserted my GSM chip it worked with no problem. We are still waiting that some Dev found the key to allow our first gen diamond to work with 3G. Because imported phone onl ywork with 3.5G at 900mhz
I haven't found any answers so I've decided to "ask the audience".
To my understanding the Rogers Canada network uses 850/1900 for it's 3G primarily 850. Is this true?
I haven't found a mention of a North American release date for the GSM Diamond. Anyone know the date? I don't expect it till around Christmas.
I'm looking at an Australian Diamond that uses the 850/2100 bands for 3G. Will the support of the 850 band be enough to function on the Rogers network or does the phone have to support both bands for 3G to function on the network?
only gsm 850 works on my diamond. i think its 1900 for 3g
I have an European Diamond which works on the rogers network but I get GSM/EDGE but to my horror no 3G
Looking around only on a few sites can I find any mention of what works and what doesn't the closest information I could find is from this link:
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/843038.html
NextG phones are 850/2100 capable, so you'll be right on most 3G networks...

and they go back and forth so I'm not sure what to believe and I don't think I want to buy another Diamond just to find it won't work either.
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/Jama/585 has some interesting comments as well but I'm not sure what to believe.
Can anyone confirm or deny and of this?
The question is will a Australian phone with the 850/2100 3G radio function on the Roger network?

I have the Australian version (850/2100 MHz) and it supports the Telstra 3G Network. Can't see why it wouldn't work on other 850/2100 MHz 3G network.
To my understanding the Canadian Rogers network is a 850/1900 network.
Does the phone need to support both bands or will one suffice?
Rogers Diamond
I had an EU/Asia Diam and I never manage to get 3G connection. Sold the phone and bought a Rogers branded diam and by default I see 3G connection all the time on the top network status. But now I'm thinking of going back to an EU/Asia version unless I can flash my Rogers branded diam with a better ROM.
Hello to all. Bought a week ago TD2 released in New York to use it in Brazil, net 3G of the operator Claro. It happens here in Brazil operates in the TD2 not 3G for data transmission and is always in EDGE mode, although there is availability of the 3G network. I heard that HTC has limitations in the software radio to create niche selling to carriers, so the same hardware, with tables of frequency band, or can not work on different carriers using the same frequency of band. I ask if the exchange of software to radio TD2 can make it recognize the 3G network.
Thanks in advance
Websailor
Claro uses the 850/1900 MHz band for 3G.
You've probably bought the European version of the TD2 which only supports 900/2100 MHz bands.
This is defined by hardware - you can't change it by flashing a different radio.
hi
In my D2 i hav settings for 3g 900 and 3g 2100 band!!!

Great! Mine too! Every other TD2 currently out there as well...
Should I buy a captivate or a i9000 galaxy s?
It is for the use in the netherlands but I heard the captivate had some more specs..
Thanks in advance!
Galaxy S and captivate are pretty similar.
i9000 has front camera (if you use it), physical back button, better support (more users) and you are more likely to have warranty support in the Netherlands.
i897 IMHO looks better and is heavier (feels more expensive). Also it comes in 16gb (i9000 comes in 8gb/16gb) and has lots of AT&T crapware on it....easy enough to remove...but you have to do it
Take the one you like the looks of better.
I really like the looks of the captivate but I am worried that it's going to have 3g network problems here..
If I would import the phone, would it work perfect with the signal here to?

The issue will be the 900 band will be missing in the Captivate which is where a lot of carriers have 3G in Europe. In the US, it will work fine. i9000x 3G won't work in 850Mhz markets.
Captivate runs on the following data bands:
3G (850/1900/2100 MHz) <-AT&T works fine.
Galaxy i9000x runs on:
2G - GSM 850/900/1800/1900
3G - HSDPA 900/1900/2100 <- Missing 850 for AT&T
Vibrant
3G - HSDPA 1700/2100
If you seriously want a world phone for data, there is only one in the market at the moment that I'm aware of. It's the Sony Xperia X10a. It's a dual mode phone and uses GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSPA 800/850/1900/2100.
I'm a complete dummy in this subject so here comes the stupid questions..
What would happen if I tried using it in my country?
I'm using a omnia 2 now with:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100
So if I tried using the captivate, would my 3g be gone?
EDIT:
I was looking through the specs at the AT&T site and it said:
GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G UMTS/HSDPA (850/900/1900/2100 MHz)
So according to these specs it says that it also has a 900mhz frequention.
EDIT2: Vodafone in my area (my carrier) uses 2100 as 3g band and gsm 900/1800.
I foung this info using gsmworld
can someone please explain it to me?
Ik need to choose before friday!
Hi everyone,
Im with a huge problema with the Frequency of my UMTS,
When i dial to *#*# 4636 #*#* and get to system information/configurarion
there is an option to select the Band of GMS/UMTS
Automatic
EURO Band
USA Band
JAPAN Band
AUS Band
AUS2 Band
and if i select any of there the phone return Fail when i try to set any on these.
And i think because of that my phone cant connect at 3G and only to EDGE.
Any one knows how to fix that? Maybe a reflash of original rom?
I realize it's an old post...but same here. Anyone else?
@geraldoff
If you're on T-Mobile USA like me, and if your phone doesn't support BOTH 1700 & 2100 MHz, you may only get 2G.
