Hey all,
I checked with a PDA technician, that is willing to replace the digitizer for me, at a reasonable price. The thing is, he told me that there are 2 types of Diamonds. One that the digitizer is glued to the LCD, and thus can only be replaced as a whole unit together with the LCD, and another one that can be replaced easily.
Does someone here know what he's talking about? How can I tell which Diamond I have?
Thanks a lot

I have a kaiser with a cracked LCD screen... and i was looking on ebay for replacement parts...
this seems to be one of the cheapest ones i can find that is also in the United States and not in hong kong...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150273701038&fromMakeTrack=true
but im confused about... one thing.... whats the digitizer?.... do i need one?... does that auction contain the digitizer.... and is the digitizer and the "touchscreen" the same part?...
i had to do this myself i bought a screen with digitizer included.
The digitizer is the touchscreen layer over the top of the normal screen, not sure how easy it would be replace the touchscreen without the digitizer as its flex appears to be glued to the back of the touchscreen, and the screens don't cost much more with it pre-atatched.
I replaced my ugly mda vario 3 case with a black htc case at the same time, since i already had to have every single component out of my phone to get to the touchscreen. its beatufull now.
I see... well... does the item in the auction include the digitizer?... it looks like a single peice.... and i dont know if the digitizer is already glued on it like you mentioned.....
for me it seems like there is everything included.... replaced my cracked screen 3 weeks ago and had all the same parts as mentioned here...
if your not sure ask the seller not me, the pic may not be the actual item.
it seems that i have broken LCD screen in my kaiser. Really angry right now...

ok, what's done its done, but now i need the new screen. I have tried on ebay but there are so many that i can't really tell witch one is original HTC LCD and witch one is replacement from china.
Can you help on this one? Is there any difference in quality of the LCD screent betwean the original and replacement???
thanx
well I just recently replaced my screen and my friend replaced his about 1 month ago.
I got mine from blackberryparts or something like that it is fine. loked exactly like the one I took out.
he got his from cnn.cn and it was the same as well.
we can't tell any difference from the one we replaced.
good luck.
tell me, from cnn.cn , did you get the touch matrix also with the LCD screen?
Yesterday I replaced broken digitizer on mine.
Usually when there is a crack on the outside glass, the LCD panel inside is still fine. So you have two options - buy the digitizer only (the glass part) for about $10-$13, or buy the whole screen (LCD + digitizer) for about $50. eBay sells both.
The whole screen is a lot easier to install. The digitizer is way more difficult as you have to separate the LCD from the digitizer and then do some tricky soldering of the ribbon cable.
ok i just replaced my busted screen like 2 days ago.
this is what you need.

but be very careful when disconnecting it. i was rough with the keyboard disconnecter and now my, (n,m,k,i, and period keys wont respond) it took about
an hour and twenty minutes.
if u have a thick guitar pick it works fine as the opening tool. u also need torx screws
hi everyone so i managed to break my hd2s screen yeah i know it sucks.. right now im in the process of changing the digitizer for a new one i bought off of ebay.. i took the phone apart that was pretty simple but while doing so i removed many glue copper like stickers and also adhesive strips specially the one holding the digitizer and the lcd together.. my question is if anybody knows where i can buy the adhesive strips.. and most important the cooper like tape since it was covering the sides and the back part where the battery goes.. has anyone been successful at fixing their broken hd2 and is the copper-like tape important.. or can i just use some regular hot temperature resistant tape? well thanks in advance for the help
I know this doesn't really help you with your situation in any way but. I broke mine as well, and i just decided to let the insurance company handle it. I know it's expensive 130$ compared to the 50$ you could buy a new screen for. But they send you a brand new sealed in box phone, next day air shipping. I've only seen one video on how to replace the glass, and it was for the euro one, and it required, basically, completely disassembling the entire phone.
Sorry for the non-help. Just my .02c
i broke the one on my blackstone bought one off ebay pretty cheap but i couldn't put it together ,i ended up paying $50 get it installed the right way
It all started when I wanted to repair the digitizer of an broken HD2. I purchased an new one from abroad and soldered it to the LCD.
I checked it with a multi-meter and it was connected in the same way as the original part.
After reassembly though the digitizer wasn't responsive at all.
Is there something I missed? I cleaned the digitizers inside before placing it on the lcd, could that have ruined it?
Appreciate advise on this.
Thanks
you are not suppose to touch the inside of the digitizer. that could be one reason

You should have just gotten an LCD/Digitizer combo...........or it could be a cheap ripoff digitizer.
Hi all!
I bought a HTC One M7 with a cracked screen dirt cheap from a friend and am hoping to repair it myself and I've had a look around the q&a forums but anyone that references to genuine or "OG" HTC parts doesn't specify where you can actually order them from, I'd be looking for both speakers, lcd screen, digitizer and front speaker covers but am pretty unsure of which parts are actually legitimate on the internet.
Any help guys?
TIA

Screen repair here, fairly cheap and apparently 100% genuine, saves you a lot of hassle, i.e, breaking it apart and re-sealing it, plus the possibility of damaging other parts, also ring them and ask if they can replace the other parts for you.

if not then the speakers are here, cheap as chips, you could always ask the LCD company, if you send the speakers with the phone, if they wouldn't mind changing them at the same time, it would take them 2 mins whilst they have it apart.

for the covers, depends on colour, but heres an idea:

All for less than £100, cant really beat that for the whole front end of the phone.
If you are going to replace the screen might I suggest you order an entire front housing with digitizer and screen and back housing. You will destroy your phones body when you open it. Order those parts and follow the complete breakdown and reassembly videos on YouTube. They are all good.
Is it hard to change just back cover?

Personally I wouldn't take the risk of opening it all up myself, inside is extremely fragile and the motherboard connections for instance is as easy to rip in half as a piece of cloth, I destroyed a HTC Desire HD whilst trying to change the LCD and Digitalizer and the back of that was screwed on, the HTC One series is 10 times harder to open up.
Check this out for an idea of what is involved: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVUAr5hLiEE
