As the title says, i need to eliminate the vista recovery partition, i searched, but i don't find specific post on how to do that!
Thanks in advance!
I did it the hard way.....I installed a new HDD and did a complete fresh install with W7. No recovery = no partition...... Later

Hi Guys,
I've posted in a couple of threads but didn't let loose for fear of hijacking it, so putting my question here for the good fellows to respond to if possible.
Basically put I have a ROM installed (Kang-o-rama SP1) and have a 1GB A2SD partition courtesy of DarkTremor.
What I want to know is what process should I go through to flash a new ROM but retain that Ext partition? I'm not sure if this is even possible? Should the wipe wipe absolutely everything and then after flashing the ROM I should rebuild the EXT partition and then use Titanium Backup (or something similar) to restore my apps to that A2SD partition?
Can somebody please just tell me what the best process is (even if that means wipe everything, and recreate from scratch each time you flash.
I was under the impression you see that I could wipe everything but retain the actual partition (albeit wiped) to restore apps to after a new Flash?
Thanks in advance
Probably your best bet is to use Titanium. When you restore, look for the setting in the app that mentions something to the effect of attempting to integrate your backup into a different ROM (Sorry don't have app in front of me).
You can also use ADB to pull your sd-ext to your computer. Push it back when you have the new ROM set up with ext
adb pull /sd-ext c:\whateveryouwanttocallit
I use Amon Ra's Recovery but I think Clockwork Mod has an option to backup just your sd-ext.
Hello
I'm pretty sure that my /data partition was corrupted. Not sure how, maybe using a custom recovery with the ICS kernel, maybe some other way, but it can't be formatted, copied to etc.
I've been reading on some other devices about editing the .pit file after finding out where the corruption is. I'm having trouble using LInux tools since using adb, I don't get the root command prompt, just a $.
Anyone have experience on a P7300 about how to work around the corruption, identify, perhaps run a fsck on the partition?
I'd also be willing to pay a $50 reward for anyone who can get it running again, even with a reduced size data partition, but ideally I'd like to try repairing the damaged partition first.
Thanks
Harry

SOLVED
Discovered after reading the Toolkit and guide that it wasn't an EMMC bug hard brick, thank goodness. I was directed in post #250 to one specific stock ROM to install with ODIN, that supposedly, was the only stock ROM that when you did a wipe data/factory reset, actually recreated the partitions and reformatted them. It is P7310XARLA3_P7310UELA3_HOME.tar.md5
But I had nothing to lose, so I installed the stock ROM with ODIN, booted the stock recovery, did the wipe, and for the first time in about 10 hours of trying this, it was able to format the /data partition, and installed the bootable ROM. After that, I installed a CWM recover in the tar format, and now about to put my old ICS ROM back on, the one in the development section that came from an OTA leak.
Thanks, I hope this helps someone who has problems accessing their /data or /sdcard directories..
I'm getting ready to update my old ParanoidAndroid (with CWM v5.5.0.4) with the CarbonRom.
I've backed up all kinds of logs, settings, and data that I think I may want to restore with the new rom.
I've also made a CWM backup (although of course I hope not to use it).
My question is - should I format the system partition (from CWM, Mounts & Storage option) before flashing the new rom?
I've seen people say emphatically that to get a clean install you need to do this.
Yet I've seen other's write just as insistently that you should NOT format the system partition. Do they say this because it is too dangerous? If I format the system partition and then for some reason the new rom won't load, does that mean my CWM is wiped out, making it difficult to recover?
I think I do want the system format because I don't want a bunch of old files hanging around ... but I want to make sure this is not too dangerous.
I've also seen others who recommended also formating the boot partition. Is there any value in that? Sounds even more dangerous ... no?

You can format system, data, internal storage and cache without any worries if you are on PA rom read install instructions in carbon rom thread after or before.

[Q] I9001 error "E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk1p2"
Hi guys,
I've been using Cyanogenmod 10.2 for some time now, from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2436670
Now I want to upgrade to CM 11, but when I try to wipe data I get this error, and when I reboot it's like nothing happened, all apps and files are there, absolutely nothing's changed. I've tried all sort of things, nothing from the other threads helped. Tried formating the sd card, partition, mounting/unmounting and formating. I have an internal sd card. I don't really get around this too much, I only have the basic knowledge of android systems.Any help?
Hi,
I can't really tell what your problem is, but obviously your recovery tries to wipe the wrong partition when wiping data. mmcblk1p2 means, the second partition on the internal sdcard (not the internal memory!). Strangely your recovery uses the wrong partition number.
No matter, I first recommend to reflash recovery (important: recovery from ADC Team) and ROM (CM10.2).
It looks like you've installed a kernel for dualboot (two different ROMs on one device, where the second one is located on the sdcard). If you did, just reflash CM10.2. If not, just make sure you're using ADC recovery and no custom kernel.
I hope this will help,
Fabian
Thanks for your reply,
I do remember installing some kernel, I think it was the one offered on the thread of CM 10.2 I previously mentioned. And I'm using CWM recovery. Should I just flash that recovery again?
Yeah, it'd be the best just to reflash recovery. Please use one of those: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2463347
After that, just try again and tell your results
Thanks, will do soon
Success!
Will try CM 11 now, thanks a lot!
Hey guys,
normally I don't cry, but now the time has come to do so, I think. I've updated the bootloader and installed the newest TWRP.
The problem is whenever I flash a rom, no matter which, it tells me that the encryption was unsuccessful. I've tried to reformat the DATA partition and SYSTEM and everything else. Made several wipes, but nothing seems to help.
I hope, that you have any hints for me. I'm afraid that I'm totally helpless right now.
Thanks in advance.

1. Execute "fastboot -w"
2. Start TWRP
3. Reformat your data as EXT4 and then format it again as F2FS
3. Reformat your cache as EXT4
4. Flash/Boot ROM you've chosen.
