VolumeWidget - G1 Apps and Games

And created another widget!
Name in the market:
VolumeWidget ( again really original )
Location in the market:
Applications \ Productivity
Description in the market:
A nice looking volume widget which shows the active ringer mode ( silent / vibrate / ring ) and the volume level.
Click on it to set the ringer mode / volume.
Android 1.5 needed.
Do not open but add as a widget!
Added permissions are necessary for the admob banner service, which is my only source of income on free work.

Let me know if you like it

I installed it on aHome Pro... works great!
Thanks!

I don't see the point. Every phone has the hardware volume buttons... isn't that quicker and simpler than a widget?
Looks good for what it is though..

yea nice, i will test it

Request for testing Band Switching of CommMgrPro in Diamond[UPDATED 2008-09-12]

Hi.
I am solving the issues of CommMgrPro with Diamond. The most important were.
1) CMP didnt change the band correctly (2G <-> Auto <-> 3G)
2) CMP didnt set correctly the speaker volume.
Any help to see if those issues are gone in this version will be wellcome with free licenses
Version V2.2(2008-09-12)
1) There are towers on each country with same cell id. So now the primary key for Cell Mode will be CellID + LAC. CMP will convert your database so make a backup before and will fill the lac information each time it finds a cell with lac equals 0
2) Compatibility with HTC Touch Diamond and HTC Touch Pro (Fixed Band manager, speaker manager, GPS manager and some GUI changes).
3) New option to repair the database.
4) New page for connections option (In connections/menu/options)
5) Option to disable/enable connections on roaming
6) Option to CMP startup delayed on page Options 3.
7) Option to Show/Hide the main window after start CMP.
8) Clicking on the higher part of the battery bar opens the battery page
9) Clicking on the lower part of the battery bar opens the battery page
10) Hide button is raplaced by calendar button.
11) New Today tab. This dialog lets you see the next events that will happen in the place, including calendar events, "Always on" schedules and other events (time limits, etc)
Hello Daniel,
1) I can confirm that the band changes work correctly, 2G, 3G and Auto - including timed changes
2) I had my ring and system volume set to 40%, chose the Full Sound profile, but both levels stayed at 40%. Then went back to the Unknown profile, both volumes still at 40%. The Silent profile, however, did set both volumes correctly to 0%. On exit (back to Unknown), ring volume was set to 40% (what I started with) and system was set to 62% (I had 40%).
Does this answer your questions?

Ok, but dont use full sound profile. Instead use directly the speaker button of the main screen...
Attached latest beta....
You attached the QVGA version, the VGA version is needed for the Diamond, right?
Anyway, I tested with the 2.2b7 version you posted in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2597701&postcount=1955, and changing to Silent and Vibrate (and back to Normal) all work ok (original volume settings restored), but setting the different volumes i % does not work at all, they remain at my previous settings - both ring and system.

hehe, yes, its qvga, sorry.
So change system volume (ring volume isnt controlled) to 20%, 40% doesnt work in diamond, isnt it?, Its a pitty because It works on touch pro (and many devices). So there is one more difference between diamond and pro: the speaker management¡¡. I will try to get a diamond to test.
Thanks ¡
Just did another test (system at 20%), and none of the %-buttons change the volume at all. Vibrate and Silent/off both work, and the previous setting (20%) is restored after changing back to normal.
Just let me know when you have a new version ready and I'll retest this. Maybe some other Diamond owner can test this as well?

Yes, It would be nice if other users could check this issue. Its strange because all the Touch Pro users hasnt that issue and "theorically" both devices are the same....
The test is easy.
1) Click on speaker button, choose ON, choose No time limit, select 80%. Then click on the upper speaker system icon to check if the level is really at 80% (more or less).
2) Same with 20% or 40%...
Greetings.
Dani
Just followed you steps in the previous post, and what I did discover in my previous testing is a bug in Manila, not in CommMgrPro
I checked the system volume using the Settings/Sounds tab and then system volume, and it always remained at 20%. But after tapping the volume icon at the top (which was set correctly) and then checking the system volume using Settings/Sounds tab, the volume was set ok here as well.
So, to sum up, CommMgrPro does indeed set the system volume correctly on the Diamond!

Thank you very much runewa
Dani
il try it out on my diamond later on thx!!
Hi Dani,
So I've fiddled around with CommMgrPro for a few days and I’ve found a few bugs and even more requests for new functionality Here goes:
1) Ring volume not restored/set after profile ends (system volume is set ok)
2) Ring type “Ring” is not set correctly using the profiles, ring type “Other” is displayed. All the other ring types work ok.
3) Battery graph stops updating after a while, typically if let to run > 24 hrs. I have set a battery file of 100KB and refresh every 60 seconds
4) The application crashes a lot of the times, especially when playing around with the profiles. I have CommMgrPro installed in the ROM. I’m going to flash to a cooked ROM on a short time, I’ll install CommMgrPro as the first application, just to see if it’s the application itself or other programs that interfere
Over to the wish list
5) Should overwrite battery file when limit is reached
6) Detect if connected via activesync (pr sync partnership) and be able to set (profile)actions accordingly
7) Set how often, and when, activesync checks for mail pr profile
8) Set “Turn On/Off BT on incoming call” pr profile. Let the current “Turn On/Off BT on incoming call” on the Options2 page be an override profile settings option
9) “Intelligent cell mode” – associate all cells to the current profile. Great for recording cells to my “Work” profile, for example
10) Switch band using command line (just as BandSwitch) – maybe this is implemented already?
11) Switch profile using command line – so I can change profiles using programmable HW buttons ( I use AE Buttons Plus)
12) Programmable HW buttons
13) Change SMS, mail and reminder alerts – I would love to be able to turn on /off Vibrate for SMS-, email- and all the other configurable notifications the Diamond offer using the different profiles
14) Able to delete a profile action
15) Detect if the phone is laying on a flat surface or not, and set actions accordingly. This is my favorite I either have my phone laying on a flat surface or it’s in my hand while walking, or in the pocket of my pants – either while walking or sitting down. When I’m out walking I always use the Vibrate mode, but quickly change to normal Ring mode when I’m at the office/at home. What I would LOVE to see is for CommMgrPro to be able to detect if my phone is laying on a flat surface (+- x% which can be configured in the an Options page) or not. If you add an enter/exit “Tilted” / “Not tilted” mode somewhere, I can set my phone to vibrate when tilted (in my hand / pocket) and then switch automatically back to Normal ring mode when it’s laying flat on my desk. This of course applies to the ring mode, SMS-, email- and reminders notifications as well.
This turned out to be quite a list, but I hope you believe this will make the CommMgrPro an even more powerful application.
Enjoy your weekend!

wow rune. Good work¡¡
I take note about all this things. Most of them are very interesting and will be implemented. Only one question...
Crashes werent reported by users months ago and I didnt see it on my Touch Pro, so, when It happens again please send me a email ([email protected]) telling me what were you doing (which dialog, etc) and what kind of crash exactly. It will help me to simulate the situation and see what happens exactly.
Thanks again....
Hi.
I need to create a new release version to satisfy HTC dimaond/touch pro users because last official version didnt work corretly. So this version (2.2b9) will become Official 2.2 if no one reports a bug.
Version V2.2(2008-xx-xx)
This dialog lets you see the next events that will happen in the place, including calendar events, "Always on" schedules and other events (time limits, etc).
Greetings.
Dani
Hi.
V2.2 ready.
Details and download on first post.
Hi.
A new beta is ready.
Version V2.3(2008-xx-xx)
1) Skin engine improvements.
2) Bug fixing related with phone-off action.
3) Better integration between CMP and HTC Touch Diamond/Pro. Current profile-schedule is shown in the main TouchFlo3D tab (Thanks to NLS). User can disable it on Options 3. See pictures
4) CMP is autorestarted automatically if other program kills it to avoid HTC task manager closes accidentally it. To close CMP just use menu/exit
5) Support for Samsung Omnia (240x400 devices).
Please send any bug, suggestion, etc. The new diamond skin will be ready very soon and It wil reduce the memory consuption in 50-70%.
Regards
Dani

Simple TimerWidget

Ok ive created a basic timer widget
Name in the market:
TimerWidget ( how original )
Location in the market:
Applications \ Productivity
Description in the market:
Always late for appointments or do you let your meals get burned while playing with your phone?
No more!... set the minutes and the modern looking hourglass will fill on your home screen and will alert you when the set timer is elapsed.
Cupcake 1.5 needed (do not open but add as a widget)
Alert sound will be added
----------------------------------------------------------------
If your a bit like me you will find it usefull.. im always using my phone and every now and then totally forget the oven or to leave for an appointment..
Alarm sound and editable timer text will be available soon.
Let me know what you think of it or if you have any useful ideas.
Added alert sound/notification and also it will now wakeup when the phone is in sleep mode.
Next up:
Allow alert modifications (ringtone/vibration)
Resize the icons a bit ( a little bit bigger )
Editable timer labels.
Nice!!! Ill give it a try
If any one has issues or feature requests please let me know
just a quick question does it use much memory just sitting on the desktop without a time running? I have used it a couple of times already and once i dragged it into the bin to get rid of it and yet when i opened task manager it said it was still running?
It shouldnt use a lot of memory when no task is running... The actual alert isnt even depending on the widget but uses the AlarmManager to raise the actual alarm on the given time and it only updates the widgets state when a timer is set.
I will look into the task not being killed when the widget is deleted... It should end normally so ill see what keeps it from being killed.
Thanks for the info.

[Q] Volume widget for Honeycomb

I am looking for a widget to adjust the volume(s) from my deskto
Anyone know of one?
-kesnik
What I do is I click the volume button once and then slide it by hand. This is my temporary solution until I can find a widget.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Widgetsoid. If you make a widget and go to advanced you can make it pop up in notification bar, one of the icons being a sound adjuster, though not the native slider.
Best Volume Widget
The only one I've found to work without popping the volume slider every time you change volume.
Hi Lare2
Many thanks for that recommendation as not only does it work great but rather the having to have a separate control for each type of sound i discovered hitting the name changes to the next option so only need one widget on the Home screen instead of 4 or 5 and can alter all sound levels from it a great app and its free.

Good app. However, i want an widget that can display on notification bar. So when i click the icon, slider volume control appears (like when you are playing music), so i can control volume when i'm in other apps, no need to go back homescreen.

This Rom install will wipe all your apps, data and settings (but it will NOT touch your SD cards, so don’t worry about those). Backup your Apps and important data — bookmarks, contacts, SMS, APNs (internet settings), etc.
Important! Don’t forget to at least make a backup of your APN settings, which you can restore later if your data connection does not work after installing the ROM.
Install ClockworkMod recovery on your phone
Download the latest version of RAYGLOBE MIUI ROM from the xdafileserver.nl/rayglobe
Copy the downloaded zip file from step 3 to the internal SD card on the phone.
Now, boot into ClockworkMod recovery. To do that, turn off your phone. Then, hold down Volume Up, Home and then the Power buttons together until the screen turns on, then let them go. The phone will boot into ClockworkMod recovery in a few seconds.
Select wipe data/factory reset, then select Yes on next screen to confirm. Wait a while till the data wipe is complete.
Select mounts and storage/format system, then select Yes on next screen to confirm. Wait a while till the system date wipe is complete. Go back
Select mounts and storage/format data then select Yes on next screen to confirm. Wait a while till the system date wipe is complete. Go back
Select install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from sdcard. Scroll to the ROM file on the SD card and select it. Confirm installation by selecting Yes – Install _____.zip on the next screen. The ROM will start installing.
After a few seconds, the graphical installer will come up. Here, follow the on-screen instructions to install the ROM.

What is MIUI?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=NDu7RxWTfd4#!
Core Features of Miui
http://en.miui.com/a-24.html
First boot things that I do
Enable root: Find the Permissions app, turn root switch to ON.
Apply Rayglobe Theme: Theme Manager > Rayglobe
Change battery display: Settings > Battery > Battery indicator style. My personal favorite is top-bar
Set long-press back button to kill app: Settings > Button > Long-press Back to kill app, and delay time underneath
Turn off 3G download limit: Downloads app, menu > settings > turn off Data download prompt
Getting ROOT permissions
Back to desktop, click MENU> Settings> Applications. Check "unknown source" Click "development", and check "Debug USB"
Built in application
Built in applications, that are head and shoulders above any third party app on the market.
Screenshot
The built in screen capture feature is a lifesaver, if you need it. You don’t have to run a program prior to taking a screenshot, nor you have to shout into your microphone, nor you have to shake your phone in convulsion trying to capture the exact moment you need. Screen capture works as follows: press VolDn+Menu.
File manager
There are three tabs, depending on what you need. There is your standard full featured file browser, FTP server, for accessing your SD card from a remote computer and a “Browse” tab. The Browse feature is very handy, it sorts all your files into categories: Docs, APKs, Themes, Music, Videos, Pics, Zips, Favorites and Misc granting quick access to the files you need, no matter where the files are located on SD. There is also a very nice breakdown of your used space, to easily identify how much of your space is occupied by music, pics, etc..
Backup
MIUI features a full featured backup utility. You can backup all your System (Contacts, call logs, messages, wifi settings, layouts etc..) and Apps (+Data). Works very well.
Music Player
This, probably, is the feature that held me on MIUI the most when deciding weather to switch to another ROM. Other than it’s beautiful, fast, downloads album art and lyrics dynamically, it reads your music by Folder, which is how my music is sorted on SD. It baffles me how other players miss this simple feature. Another great feature is excluding files that are less than set size. It’s great for ignoring all kinds of ringtones and notifications from your library.
Gallery
Some nice features include Hide folders (album art for example), Favorite folders, Lyrics.
Contacts / Dialer
Contacts are pretty much standard to Android, with a few exceptions, like being able to quickly block a person from contacting you. The Dialer on the other hand is completely redesigned. It features T9 dialer (dial by name, like Sense dialer), a lot of built in features, like two way call recording, very detailed call log. For example it shows you how long the missed caller called you for. It identifies the country of the number by the country code in the number etc..
Network Assistant
In the Network Assistant, you can set a maximum amount of traffic to be sent over 3G if you have a limited data plan. It will also tell you which apps are using the most data, and by pressing the button at the bottom of the Traffic Ranking screen, you can limit apps' internet usage. From there, you can also set the default settings of newly installed apps, useful if you want to set apps to only use data off wifi.
Visitor Mode & Access Control
These settings are hidden a little bit. To access them, go into Settings > Security & privacy > Privacy protection
Guarded mode is also known as visitor or guest mode. When visitor mode is on, call logs, notes, gallery data, and text messages are hidden and the launcher cannot enter edit mode. You can also set a password for leaving visitor mode.
Access control gives you the ability to password protect applications. The ability to hide the apps is currently missing but should show up in a later build.
Firewall (formerly Do Not Disturb)
Using the Firewall app, you can send unwanted callers directly to voicemail and reject text messages as well. It has a lot of customization including a whitelist or blacklist and keywords for blocking text messages. Other settings include Anti-Stranger mode (Muting first ring when an unknown number calls, Filter Spam Messages (filter SMS based on keywords)
Privacy Mode
Enabling Privacy Mode will hide all your SMS and call logs. The Launcher editing will also be disabled. It’s useful when lending your phone to someone for a short period of time.
Access control
Access control is something new to MIUI. It controls what apps a user can see/access, without a password
Long Press / App manager / Recent
Just like in any android distribution you press and hold your home key to bring up the recently run app list (grid). Just like anything in MIUI they went further and here’s what we get:
Pressing and holding the Home key brings up the grid with 12 recently launched apps. There is an indicator on each icon, which shows you weather the app is running or not.
There are two buttons on the button of the screen: App Killer, which if pressed will kill all apps, and show how much memory you’ve just freed up. And App Manager, which sends you to the App Manager menu. Pressing and holding an app icon will send you to the apps’ management screen, where you can force stop the app, move it to SD, clear data etc.
Also worth mentioning is the built in Back Button killer. While in any app press and hold the back button, it will force close the app and clear it from the memory.
Visual Style
MIUI is beautiful. Being a multimedia / interface designer I know what I’m talking about. It’s simple and functional. It gives you the eyecandy stuff without going over the top. Obviously some themes are not up to scratch, like with any modding community, but the professionals make it look beautiful, and it’s all free.
Theme Engine
If you get bored with how your Android looks, dont't worry. The theme engine in MIUI is amazing. Not only you get lots of themes to choose from, but you can mix and match, taking the lockscreen from one theme, icons from another and fonts from yet another theme. There is a theme gallery online, so you can browse and download what you like. All nicely built in into the ROM and applying takes seconds. Here are the things you can customize:
Boot Animation (the one you’ve been flashing through recovery)
Boot Audio (any sound you like. Default is silent)
Custom Lockscreen (the way your lockscreen looks and functions)
Lockscreen wallpaper (self explanatory)
Icon (Icon Pack)
Status Bar (the way your notification/toggle bar looks)
Launcher (the way your launcher looks, including the status bar and dock)
Wallpaper
Font (choose a font for your android)
Text Style (how the SMS/MMS app will look)
Dialer Style (how the dialer app will look)
Ringtone
Notification
Alarm
Adb don't work
Click MENU> Settings> "option developments", and check "Debug USB"
Aroma install stuck, no key press
If aroma install stuck Press and hold Power + Home + Volume[+] buttons until its boot in Recovery and then reinstall with English language
Camera black band
Black band on right are visible only in first start. Close and reopen app
Where is the New sound settings feature to set dial tone as piano tone
Go in phone/settings/dial pad touch tones/tone/piano sound
