I am looking for a widget to adjust the volume(s) from my deskto
Anyone know of one?
-kesnik
What I do is I click the volume button once and then slide it by hand. This is my temporary solution until I can find a widget.

Widgetsoid. If you make a widget and go to advanced you can make it pop up in notification bar, one of the icons being a sound adjuster, though not the native slider.
Best Volume Widget
The only one I've found to work without popping the volume slider every time you change volume.
Hi Lare2
Many thanks for that recommendation as not only does it work great but rather the having to have a separate control for each type of sound i discovered hitting the name changes to the next option so only need one widget on the Home screen instead of 4 or 5 and can alter all sound levels from it a great app and its free.

Good app. However, i want an widget that can display on notification bar. So when i click the icon, slider volume control appears (like when you are playing music), so i can control volume when i'm in other apps, no need to go back homescreen.

I have both an iphone and a G1. Now people slate the iphone for not being open source, but in terms of productivity it seems the iphone still wins out for me, and it is almost entirely down to two apps which I feel the G1 could REALLY do with: sbsettings and irealquicksms. I am trying to use my g1 everyday as I'm considering selling my iphone and hope someone can point me in the direction of something similar, or the same. Best to look on YouTube for a full understanding of these apps, but in shorts....
Irealsms allows you to send an sms from within ANY application, simply by pressing the volume button followed by a tap on the volume icon that appears, or by doubletapping the homekey. This saves swapping between applications if a text needs to be sent, and also facillitates replying. This is invaluable if you are watching a movie clip and really speeds up the texting process...it is the one application I truly miss from the iphone more than any other.
SBsettings allows you to change almost ANY setting from within ANY application simply by swiping a finger across the status bar on iphone. This means, for example, that if one is watching a film, or browsing the web, one can change the brightness, turn on/off wifi, bluetooth, 3g, gps or any number of other functions by simply swiping the top of the screen, upon which a toggle board slides down the screen. A press of the menu key slides it back up again. I am amazed that this app hasn't been developed for android as it is much more efficient than silly toggle switch widgets which clutter the home screen and are far less practical if one is already inside an application
well Toggle Settings by cooolmagic places the application icon in the status bar for quick access, I find that a good replacement for SBsettings
Toggle Settings is definitely an awesome app and sounds like it would be a good replacement for that Iphone app.
I use ChompSMS and they are constantly improving their app. I'll get onto their website and request they add on a shortcut ability. Say double press on the camera button?
Or, another option is "Bar Control" to add a shortcut for ANYTHING to your notification bar.
Keyboard shortcuts are great, too.
I would suggest looking into sms popup. It makes the text msg pop up and you can just hit the reply button after you respond just hold down the home button and go back to the program you were using last.
Why not use the quick launch keyboard shortcuts for messaging (Search button + S) and Settings (no default)?
You can set shortcuts for up to 36 different apps and the shortcuts will work from any application. Just go to Settings > Application Settings > Quick Launch.
You could also just hold [HOME] and select Messaging/ChompSMS to send texts without having to drop back to the home screen (If it was one of your last 6 apps used anyways...)
Fandango would also be awesome.

Random hijack much? Get your own thread.
Bar control allows you to put any app in the notification bar for easy access within most apps. So you could put your messaging app and a setting app (or any other app you may want) in the bar for easy access. The only exception would be apps that take up the full screen and hide the notification bar. Not many of those though.
I think this is the best place to post this question, sorry if it's not.
Anyways, with the ROM's for the i897(Captivate) the notification drop down has the toggle buttons for Wi-Fi | Bluetooth | Silent | Vibration
For the I9000 ROM Silent is replaced by GPS.
Anyone know of a way to change which buttons show up?
I'd like to use an i897 ROM, but remove Silent and replace it with GPS.
+1 on that for me, too, its easy enough to go into silent mode with a long press on the power key, or by simply holding the volume down button.... a quick toggle for gps would be great!
+1 as well. Volume rocker on the phone is sufficient in silencing the device, I want a fast GPS on off switch. Perhaps this should be posted in the android development section?
Or a 2g/3g apn switch.

+1
I would also like to add Vibrate to the Power Menu. I don't use Silent, always Vibrate, and I would prefer not having to unlock my phone to change that.

+1. Dont use bluetooth so the bluetooth switch is pointless for me. Would like a Rotation/Orientation switch... or even better (if it can be figured out) a switch to toggle between 2g and 3g
You could try the quick settings app. Long press the search key and you get fast access to all that **** son!

+1 on this however in the meantime...
I use power strip in conjunction with switchpro widget. Power strip is an app you can set to have your home button bring it up even from the lock screen if you have widget locker installed. This way you can access switchpro widget which you can customize to have whatever 7 (less if you'd like) toggles available for quick access without ever even having to unlock your device. I currently have mune set up as follows: Widget locker is installed which allows me to add widgets to my lock screen and have access to my notification bar without having to unlock the screen. Then I have power strip set as my default launcher and ADW is set as the default launcher through the settings in that app so hitting the home button goes to ADW by default (double tap on home brings up power strip) I'm all about pushing as few buttons as possible to access what I need quickly. Once someone figures out how to change the default toggles I probably will keep this set up because of the extreme functionality!
I have a similar arrangement but use QuickDesk rather than power strip. QD is activated by double-tapping home, and offers a 4x5 grid for widgets or icons - I have two switchpro widgets that can toggle nearly everything, and some extra categories for App Organizer that I don't use as often as the ones on the home screen.

QuickDesk is awesome! Thanks for letting me know.
I even got QuickDesk + WidgetLocker + ADW.Launcher to work perfect together.
however quite nice still quick desk might be, it would still be nice to have GPS on default slide down bar...
Any ideas...?
this thread would be better in the Development forum

Introduced is the official APK for Gingerbread.
Tested and working, just set an alarm for 7am via Google Voice Actions.
Works on 2.2. Install like any other .apk

"If your interested, I changed the following:
DeskClock$6.smali - line: 51 to
Code:
Code:
const-string v3, "sec.musicplayer.PLAYBACK_VIEWER"
I am looking to see if I can change the screen saver mode color as well, but haven't yet done so.
The only other changes were to a couple of the images. I changed the launcher icon to the other "clock" with blue hands and changed the widget hands images to be the same blue. The selection indicator was also changed from green to blue, but i havent seen where that is actually used yet."

Here is one that I modified to work with TouchWiz music player. I did also tweak it a little bit to make it a little more TouchWiz like (i changed the greens to be TWBlueish)
If your interested, I changed the following:
DeskClock$6.smali - line: 51 to
Code:
const-string v3, "sec.musicplayer.PLAYBACK_VIEWER"

I fixed the landscape mode bug that was causing it to crash
Very nice job. If I can make 1 request. Could you change the color of the dock button when pushed. Currently it's yellow and the TW blue would be awesome. If you touch and hold the screen dimmer in the top left corner the clock turns green. Maybe that would be blue also? Although I kinda like that one.
Thanks again fr your hard work....

Yeah I was looking at doing the green clock. I will see what i can do about the button selections.
Ok, here's a "blue'd" one
The "screen saver" mode is still green, i didn't change that.
I'm having a problem with this clock app that it sets the default alarm tone to silent which defeats the purpose of being able to use voice command to set an alarm. I'm on Bonzi 1.0.1. There are no options to change it in the program, and my default notification tone is not set to silent...

When you create or edit the alarm you can set what ringtone it will use, you can also override the alarm so it will be audible even if the phone is set to silent mode. that is in the settings, not when you create/edit an alarm.

That defeats the purpose of being able to set an alarm by voice command which is the only reason I wanted to use this DeskClock. If I still have to go in and change the alarm once it's set it's worthless to me. I just wanted to know if everyone was having this issue or if it was something I could fix. I just want the default alarm to be a sound and not set to Silent.
Oh. Ok I see what your saying. I will look at it. I have to fix a bug that crashes it when switching to landscape anyhow.

hi, is there any chance this will work on the droid? i have tried the signed and the original apks the original installs but it is the same and the others wont install.
thanks in advance as this is driving me crazy as i use voice actions all the time.
Some of you are getting the weather to show up also, but it isn't working for me.
Hi!
Just wondering if it's possible to adjust brightness in CM7 on the nook by sliding over the notification bar when it's in tablet mode. Tbh I've never gotten this mythical feature to work, ever, but it'd be nice to know if the fault lies with my fingers or if it's simply not possible
If you know of any other way to quickly and easily adjust brightness on a sliding scale, pref. in a widget, please let me know. It's one of the features I miss most from honeycomb.
I never heard of that feature, but I use the Brightness Level widget by CurveFish. It doesn't put a slider right on the screen, but tapping the widget brings up a slider with some presets. Elixir is a great general utility app that also has a brightness widget, but I prefer CurveFish's because it shows the level in % on the widget at all times.

Recent Plus! will also work. Long press on the 'n' and it brings up all your recent apps plus sliders for volume and brightness. It's a really useful app

get it at this thread:

Dunno, Notification Power Widget works okay for me for what I need.. Although Dim/25/100 would be nice to have.
Hehe, the touchscreen has made me so lazy I don't want to use the hardware buttons for anything. I even put back the 'Home' softkey on my status bar

I asked for this last year and someone supplied a patch. It doesn't appear to have ever been incorporated. Can anyone else interpret exactly what's happened with this request?
I am testing out a Moto Z Force (coming from a Nexus 6P) to see if I can handle switching without having root. And a couple of things I am missing already. Is there anyway to break out the volume controls and have a separate control for ringtone and a separate one for your notifications like sms? I hate having the same volume control for ringtone and sms. Next, I miss my "power menu". Is there anyway to get the flashlight option by pressing and holding the power button down?
I know these are not big deals...just seeing if I can fix them
@darkcyber20 I don't know of a way without having root privileges to ruin the volume controls.
For the flashlight though, Moto has baked in a gesture for quickly enabling it. It's a double chop motion. Look in the Moto app, in the section called Actions.

Well, crap! Why do these phone manufactures think people want to have the same volume level for their ringtone as for their text app? Thanks for the information! The ringtones and notifications sounds are considerable lower than my Nexus 6P

I personally hate the separate ringtone/notification volume controls. That was one thing that seriously annoyed me about the Sammy phones I have owned. I'd lower the volume with the side buttons then get blasted by a notification tone.
Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
I like separate volume controls. I use an app to set the volumes/vibration appropriately for the situation.
Also, it should be easy to allow the volumes to be linked if desired. Someday we will have the best of both worlds.

The app I use is called Audio Profiles. Unfortunately it does not have the ability to set different volumes for the ring tone and the notification unless the phone allows it. I had the LG G5 and the Note 7 (for a few days) and it worked with both of those. It won't work with the Moto Z family. My comment that you quoted simply meant that it shouldn't be that hard for the software to allow either separated or linked ring and notification tones.
However, my notification tone is OK. There is a known issue with the notification tones being hosed. It seems to be sort of random. When I was trying to select a tone, I could not hear some of them so I selected one that was a good volume. Not sure if you are able to pick one that sounds OK. Some folks can and some cannot. Hopefully this will be resolved with the next update.
Also, Audio Profiles is not perfect. Sometime it doesn't give you the profile you selected. It is better than 95% with my experience which isn't bad. I had a hard time finding one that worked at all. I used to use Tasker, but gave that up.
