Brando Screen Protector - myTouch 3G, Magic Accessories

Hi all,
since Brando Screen Protector is still not avaible, and thus Magic has 3.2" display, which one of the ones avaible could fit our dispaly? In another words, which ppc or cellphone has a 3.2" display so that we can use it to supply it?

i think the g1's screen protector would work? I just cut up an ipod touch's screen protector to fit the screen...although its painstaking but came out really good in the end!

Thanx for your answer...I just bought it...

Yeah, G1 Brandos fit perfectly.
BTW: HTC Magic Brandos now available from Brando Shop.

How does this work?
magic had a capacitive screen that reacts to the skin of your finger.
how can it still work when there is a piece of plastic between it?
I do want a screen protector, but i dont understand it..

Tiny microscopic holes?

it responds to change in the electromagnetic field on the surface of the screen. this field also recalibrates itself, so it doesnt change at all when applying something not too thick.

Don't buy invisible shields, they are terrible, please read other threads!!!!!
I've bought 2 of them in the past, you have to spray the liquid thats supplied all over ya screen so you can fit the protector. Once all is dry the protector does'nt have a nice slide on it, its actually very sticky.....
I really don't think spraying all this liquid over your new phone to apply the protector does it any good......
Regards,
R.

I think i will buy the Brando Workshop Anti-Glare screen protector for Magic.
Anyone else bought this??

I bought a Martin Fields one from ebay, about £10 I thin but it is perfect.
Doesn't affect use of the screen at all, fits perfectly and you can barely tell it's even on.

I ordered one from Brando, it costed 12$ with ports to Portugal, i hope i've made the right choice.

Ok, i have now my brando screen protector, and it is just perfect and i can't almost notice it is on the screen. It fits just perfect. I really recommend this!

How do the Brando ones fit? I've used Brando protectors for a while now and they used to be a great fit but my most recent one for the Touch Diamond was about 1.5mm too small. Not a disaster but I'd prefer it to reach the edge exactly.
Is it the same with these or have they made them fit properly?
Mik

It just fit's properly. 100% good choice

Screen Protectors

Has anyone found somewhere with screen protectors for the Ameo (that will have stock before 15th April)?
My Ameo is getting delivered tomorrow, and I'm thinking that if I wait till 15th April, my screen will be scratched to bits by then. All the screen protector will get to do will be to neatly seal and preserve the scratches! ;-)
HI,
My T-mobile Ameo(The Netherlands) was delivered with a screenprotector
But the quality isn't as good as the UltraClears from Brando. But it's something. I will replace it when Brando has them for the Ameo.

be careful of the original screen protector, when you remove it, it might leaves a mask on the screen !! one of my friend used the original screen protector, and when he removed it, the screen surface got "lift up", so the surface is no longer flat!!! he has to send back and get a exchange at the end.
I am also looking for screen protector, i have contact Martin Field, and they say they will release one soon when they get the screen measurement.

Now this I like the look of. Durability! But how is the quality of the actual Screen protector? Is it like Boxwaves Clearview or 99% Anti-reflection...bla bla bla?
This is important as I don't want to loose the sharpness of the display or much of the touch sensitivity of the screen.
@wu5262:
Thanks for the warning(and all your other comments in the Athena section. I read them (almost) all).
I will be very carefull when peeling the screen protector off. And will order another one as soon as possible.
@lawbet7eb:
Thanks for the tip; Did you trey those yourself already? I Like to know how good they are on the screen. And if they give the same clearness as the Brando UltraClears or Boxwaves screen protectors.
I just oredered one, so I will test it and share the results with you guys!
@ dpbakker: Ik verwacht de protectie as vrijdag binnen te hebben!
Thanks/Dank je wel
I will wait with ordering then
Hi,
I couldn't wait and already got this screen/device protection and applied it.
It works verry wel and is, in my opinion, better/clearer than the original screen protector. It feels thicker dan the original one but the touch screen works as well as before. I also applied the protection on the rest of the device. That works OK as well. But the disadvantage of protection is that it is flexibel in the way that you can stretch the 'plastic'. So be very carefull when applying it. The protection for arround the screen was the only one not working for me. Mine wasn't cut out OK and I streched it to much. :-( So I threw it away.

is it possible for you to post some picture of it? how does it feel? does it make your device feel like a huge plastic?
I will make some pictures tonight( need a second camera for that).
It feels a bit plastic, but I don't mind. The Ameo is in it's case most of the time. If you touch the screen with your stylus then it feels a bit sticky, but you can drag arround the screen with your stylus with no problem. It is however difficult to apply the protection withou any bubble, but maybe I'm just a bit clumsy with that.
As promissed, the pictures.
I've got it also as of todayand I'm also positive avout this invisible shield protector. Indeed be carefull with getting of the plastic from the paper. Also use a lot of water (delivered with the package) because then you can position the shield the best. An other tip: use a tissue to get rid of the water between the shield and the screen.
Works perfect.
+ very easy to install
+ good protection for all sites of the device
+ very clear en bright
- easy to cut the thinner parts in 2
- he plasic is reel soft like a kind of thin rubber, so if you drag over the screen using your stylus feels like you stuck in the plasic a bit. Maybe this will get a bit better after a couple of day's.
Conclusion: 8+ (out of 10) so buy it!

Thanks for the heads-up - I've ordered mine now.
(And I can second the recommendation - I've tried a few different screen protectors before, and the Martin Fields one I used on my Universal was by far the best.)
Maybe Brando UltraClear would be the best solution???

Sounds good to me - have just ordered some Martin Fields protectors! Just can't wait for my Ameo now!
I bought a pack of Writeright things YEARS ago, and have been using the same pack ever since. However due to the size of the Ameo screen they come nowhere near filling it.
A shame, they are amazing.
The stock one that came with it is a bit sticky for my liking, and a tiny bit too narrow. I have over a 1mm gap at the right because I lined up at the left edge exactly.
Im not so good at fitting them, so a couple of bubbles. Has anyone lifted and replaced the stock protector? recommended methods? The old fingernail under the corner always ruins them.
Some people suggest a bit of sticky tape to lift the corner.

Screen protector

There came a screen protector with my Touch Dual, which works very well, i do not see any difference in using the protector or using the device without it. So anybody out there, who knows, where to get this specific protector?
Thanks in advance.
we
PS It is adhesive, which i like more than sticking it to the screen and never being able to remove it again
the one that came with mine is ok but I messed up by having some dust underneath so I've ordered a new one from here: http://www.martinfields.co.uk/dis_product.asp?model=HTC_DualTouch&modeln=Touch Dual&prod_type=screen
I've always used Martin Fields screen protectors, IMHO they're the best! plus they're ultra clear once you put them properly you can't tell

Do you know if original screnn protector is Whashable?
Thanks
The orig. protector rocks.
I bought some from ebay and already dropped them into garbage.
Now i ordered one from martinfields and i hope this one works better for me ...
Any other experience?
i got 3 really cheap ones off ebay which are fantastic.
they're in 3 sections, you take one side off to reveal the sticky side then put it on the screen then pull the other side off to reveal the front face of the cover.
really good.

I don't know whether it's the best or not, but I had the same problem that you do.
I bought the protector from martinfields based on the recommendations in this thread, and must say that I like it better than the original one.
It is thinner, so it seems like you need less pressure to make the screen react when you press it.
I've only had it for a day, so I really can't say how durable it is...

Are the Martin Fields and Invisible Shields self adhesive?
I don't have to glue them on do I hehe
The one that came with mine I put it on properly but then I panicked slightly and thought "How do I get it back off!" so peeled one side up just to see if it would come off, then of course got all dust and crap under the edge so it looks skanky now thus want a new one.
I only managed to do that because it was slightly misaligned and a bit overlapped at the side of the screen though not enough to notice unless you looked very closely. So how do you get them off if they are put on perfectly? I know you could use a knife but you could scratch the screen and that defeats the purpose

Don't know about Martin Fields.
Go to link in above post to see Invisible Shield. If I remember correctly, they tell you how to do things on their site. I don't have one for the niki so can't tell you for sure, but have one on my ipod and it took awhile to get on, but well worth it.
Also, their customer support is very very good.

Use scotch tape. Just stick it on the face of the screen protector and lift. Simple as that.
Btw, I've recently swapped out my screen protector because I somehow got a scratch on it. Anyway, the sales recommended one that was matte finished (as oppose to glossy like most screen protectors). I have to say, it is so much better than the traditional glossy ones. The great part is the texture. It is so much smoother than regular ones. Great for sliding your finger across using Touchflo.
However, it does diminish your off-axis visual quality. But i suppose that doesn't really matter since you don't look at your screen off-axis much anyway. It may even be a plus since you might not want the person next to you to see what you're looking at...

That's a good idea! I never thought of that, I did see something on a website about using something sticky to remove it but I was thinking of blutak or something like that and thinking that it wouldn't work very well!
A bit of grit got on my screen and I scratched the protector with my stylus the other day, another reason to get a new one, but also a good reason for leaving the current one on!

I'm in Hong Kong so I just picked it up from one of many independently owned techy shops. I didn't pay attention to what brand it was (i basically just paid the guy and he opened it up and stuck it on for me). The next time i head back there, i'll take note of the brand.
Invisible Shield
Just installed the I.S. (bought on ebay) on my Niki...
It's been a pain in the neck to install...
It's really hard to prevent small bubbles on the surfaces...
Maybe on a white ipod has a better look but on the Niki black finish you'll see them..they're really really small but sometimes in a large number: the overall effect is as a dirty and scratched Niki...
Bigger ones could rise passing from the front/back to the lateral sides, in particular near the big 4 rounds.
The hole for the hands-free speaker was totally missing!
When in hand you can feel the sharp edges corresponding to its thickness ...
The original protector is a little bit "softer"
But...
I can have it in my pocket with no additional thickness...
Right now I was using the silicon case, but it seemed that I was calling with a tv remote control...
I was just gonna buy an Invisible Shield *Thinks*
Thanks for the info ohyeahar I was thinking of going for the Invisible Shield but now might just go for a screen protector and some sort of leather case-age. Dunno

Do screen protectors not impact the capacitive input function?
What thickness protection will allow capacitive input - will the Proporta Mizu Shell for HTC HD2 be thin enough to allow capacitive?
If the protector stops capacitive input will the device still register standard touch input?
you dont need a screen protector for the HD2
the screen is scratch resistance

Thanks for the tip. Ordered 2 packs of 3. My Leo is on it's way, and i'm prepared. My phones tend to live hard, so i'll go with a protector regardless of what ppl say about the scratch-resistancy of the screen.
Thanks for the hint
Ordered a pack too.. You never know whats happening to your phone during daily life.
i have these also.
the screen works fine with them on and they have a nice anti glare.
i'm waiting to see how the go in the car mount when using the satnav.
on the -ve side i just could not get them on the device perfectly - always a bit of dust on the edge. aligning them is ok.
hi,
i read that these ecell sceen protectors are finger print resistance ? does that mean there will be no fingerprints huH? They are not the matt type right ?
Mine arrived today, will fit tonight and report back
Mine arrived today. Here are the pics. Simply perfect!
Got 2 specks of dust causing small bubbles on the outer edges, but not on the actual screen, so I don't mind.
Anti-glare works well, and sensitivity is fine, great for the price!

hi, what about the finger prints ? does the screen protector attracts lots of finger rpints ? i saw finger print resistance on the package. Am curious what does it mean. Anyway, I ordered this too. Now waiting for delivery.
Well, about the fingerprints - there are some spots after usage, I'd say about 60% less than using it without screen protector.

cool. that review was helpful. thanks !
Mine came today.. They are okay. Wastet two bevor got one to stuck probably. BUT they send me a total of six instead of three. So no regrets here.
But consider, that the outer edge NEVER sticks okay.
Got one from HK too. (free gift included in charger and battry package) That one stuck probably even on the edges and wasnt as thick as the ecell one.
for the price they were very good, not 100.00% fit and got like 2 dust particles on the screen, but I can live with it
can recommend them
A tip I read for fitting is to fit it in the bathroom soon after you have had a hot shower with the window closed. The steam/water vapour in the air reduces the amount of dust floating about.
Hi Aleemz,
this is a very useful Tip.
When i Colored Cars i did it this way. So ther are no dust in the air.

Static or Adhesive

Hi guys, i search for this subject, but i didnt found a answer on my question..
I have bought an HD2 2 weeks ago, and now i'm searching for an screenprotector. All my friends (no HD2's) have static protectors (so, no glue usages).. They say Static adherence is better, because it leaves no glue when you remove the protector (and adhesive protectors do?).
For the HD2 instead I can find only adhesive protectors, or protectors where iam not sure how they adhere to the phone..
For instance, the 'screen only' version of invisible shield, is that a adhesive or static protector?
Martin Fields notes that their protector is removable, but still with "A mild adhesive"
Also it is not clear if the basic protector of HTC is using Adhesive
I found one protector for HD2, that is using Static adherence: ScreenGuardz (screenguardz.com). Problem is that I dont find anybody who bought this allready..
In short i have 2 questions:
1. Is it true that when you remove a protector with adhesive adherence, there will stay some glue on your phone?
2. Adhere the "screen only" protector of invisible shield adhesive or static? And if this one is adhesive, do you know an other static protector?
Thanks in advance, Proces
I got a Martin Fields one, the best I have ever seen. 90% clear in ads but I have to say nearly 95% or 99% clear. Smooth sliding like original glass. I dont have a good hand but it's really easy to install with no crazy bubbles. I removed it once for washing, no feel of glue at all.
I used to buy cheap screen protector but this time I went for Martin Fields. I didnt want my lovely HD2 to be damaged. No regret at all. It's just worth it.
Is Martin Fields Scratch-proof like the one from zagg.com That's a lot better then that you've to replace your screen protector every month(s).
I havent used zagg invisible shield so I cant answer u. But from what I read so far, zagg is not really so invisible and Martin Fields's protector is not better at anti-scratch than zagg's one.
However, some guys said after a long time using zagg, there's some odd brown spot in his shield for HD2, look like mudd or sth else. And zagg is not as smooth as Martin Fields. That lead me to my decision.
The ones I use is Exim, used it on my last few devices and it is perfect. Can't tell a screen protector is being used both visually or by touch.
The Exim protector seems to be nice! No glue, and (according to the ads) perfect quality.. Can you tell something about your experience with the Exim? How went the installation (and re-installation)?
Martin Fields or Exim dont make a difference in price (£10).. The glue free feature of Exim makes me think to choose the Exim.
Other opinions why I have to choose an other Screen Protector?
Use a Brando Ultraclear: fits perfect with no glue (removable, washable and re-usable). I'm using on hd2 and is totally unnoticeable; i had on my previous device (and on my TomTom also) and after one year there are no scratch on surface and the screen protector appears like brand new

Installation is the same as any other screen protector. After I installed it, if there is any dust specs behind the protector, I simply lift it up with masking tape and use another piece of masking tape to remove the dust.
I just removed my exim from my old Diamond (after 2 years ish) and the screen is in perfect condition with no residue left.
Anyone got a photo of the HD2 Martin Fields protectors on the phone, to get an idea of fit - got the HTC ones and they were terrible but would ultimately like one to be on the safe side...

I can't comment on how the others that you mentioned performs as I have never used them. What I can say is that the exim does not reduce sensitivity, I had a normal cheap one on and I couldn't stand it as the screen was desensitised.
well I can tell you about different screen protectors.
i had invisible shield on my hd for 1 and half year, no visible scratches, now changed screen part to htc branded, it has been for one week and there is 7 very visible deep scratches.
same time that i bought htc branded for hd i bought brando ultraclear for hd2 and it has not even slightest mark, even that it has had much more usage than hd. also had same brando on my htc wizard for 2years and it got 2 very small marks.
martin shields is about the same that brando, maybe even better, had one on my diamond. but brando is better fit i think.
i recommend brando or martin, they are superior to any other. zagg invisible is god but its kinda sluggish for first 2months when brando, martin are very slicky nice.
cheap protectors like htc are BAD if one package has more than one it cant be good since even they dont trust their own product.

Screen protector question

Hello Everyone,
I've ordered several different screen protectors from different brands over the last weeks for my G2 but they all seem not to fit.
I have a white European T-mobile version D802 and all of them do not cover the screen completely. The screen protector does not cover the sides 100% and have a space of 3mm uncovered, from the top or bottom it is about 5mm. This is including the parts (forgot name for this) where's no touchscreen.
Is it supposed to be like this or am I having bad luck in choosing protectors?
I would like to have a protector that covers the entire front, could any of you point out a good one?
Thanks everyone!

The screen is curved on the edges, its not possible to cover it 100 percent as it would show and it wont stick on the edge and you will notice the protector easier + dust.
Anyway if you wanna get the flipcover you absolutely need the protector. The flip is a bad design as it is ... scratched the screen and now the protector as well... Who thought to make the inside of the window plastic or metallic was an idiot... (its harder as the soft "pillow" and every dust speck or anything between is automatically going to scratch the screen)

Understand.
In that case it covers the top to bottom part of the touchscreen, but still on the sides the touchscreen is not covered completely by 2mm +/-

The ZAGG protector is really good in covering 99% of the phone and with the protector being a wet-application it will stick with the curved screen. only problem is that it has the orange peel look and feel.
Edited:
OH and if you do order the Zagg protector don't order the back protector...it doesn't fit properly...

I dont understand why people are buying screen protectors for G2, are useless in devices with Gorilla Glass, my Samsung Galaxy S2 has 2 years old without any mark on it... don't waste your money.

good luck. It doesn't mean indestructible. Only harder to scratch...
I had many gorilla glass devices. In company as well. Everything gets scratched. I do not buy protectors normally. But I have the flip scratcher(cover) as I said, that's just bad design....

Come on, what a way of thinking, of course if you scrape the surface with sand you will scratch the phone...
I never had a scratch with normal use of my phones...

Come on, what a way of thinking, of course that you can't see the scratch doesn't mean that they are not there ....
I have many friends that were thinking that their phones have a pristine surface. No scratches.."THINKING"
You should not care about what you do not see though.
I just said that the FlipCover is a bad design... (very bad) and the glass not indestructible. Also under some circumstances likes to get scratched.
Also @citytrader sorry, but sand you can find anywhere ... Just try to travel between Cairo and Alexandria and see in which places on your body you will find Sand.....
