HI. I posted this in another thread but didnt get much of a response..i use landscape mode alot and i was wonder which cooked rom is best for landscape mode..
they are all pretty much the same if m2d is used. best bet is ms3, home or stock. mind you I use m2d and use landscape without a hitch just depends how you use it?
oh and I forgot 6.5 to which is good for landscape.
djquick is correct about making a new thread as the answer even I should have put was flash flash flash
Ok, so you think by posting in this thread you'd get a better response??? Dude, you didn't even specify what kind of phone you have, what you're looking for specifically; other than the best rom for landscape. My guess is you didn't even look through the different roms out there with their specific pros and cons............unbelievable
Sorry i have the
ATT TILT
ROM right now is the Ultimate PDA V4
Im using that and the landscape works fine but im a picky person lol
You'll need to specify your use cases a little more. A WM6.1 stipped ROM work's fine in Landscape mode. Do you need WM 6.5, Manila, etc.
Moving to General, as not related to ROM development.

so whats the difference animated weather?
what are the pros and cons of using either?
or are they really just the same?
let the flames begin
I searched touchflo2d vs 3d and couldnt find any info
so sorry in advanced if it was already covered else where.
hmmmmm.....lets see here
Pro's of TF3D:
Great Animation
Great Graphics
Accurate Weather(its fun too )
Fast
Cons:
Not the easiest thing to configure
Takes a while to get everything working properly and fast(Flashing a ROM and all of that)
Landscape
Pro's of M2D:
Works on any device
Is easy to config
Just as fast as TF3D
Weather is ok but not very animated
Cons:
2D Graphics are not the best
Landscape
More importantly right now, with M3d you can't put your phone into standby while it's running. And on my phone it ran like a dog!
guess you havent read my thread about TF3D on our kaisers

my 1st attempt at getting tf3d to install on my stock rom was a failer it just kept looping loading touch here to load and would freeze up and never load. I did a hardreset and I got 2d to load.
so with t3d it needs to be installed on top of a cooked rom it wont run on a stock 6.1 rom?
can you get both options to show up under home options or is it 1 or the other. I like play with my apps and switch back and forth till I decide which one works best for me being able install both would ber great less trouble hardrestting each time I wqant to compare.
thanks for replying
you cant have both M2D and TF3D both installed....in my signature there is a link covering a lot on TF3D and yes it has to be a cooked ROM.
I use L26 TF3D Rom V4 and even though it is a little annoying to have to kill (turn off) Manilla everytime you want to put your phone to sleep, it is a great rom. My question is this. What is the difference between Manilla and Throttle? I tried searching but perhaps I did not search correctly. Thanks everyone.

Ah thanks I thought I followed all the instructions in your t3d thread correctly.
I just got my tilt so will wait a few weeks (atleast till the 90 warranty runs out) before I start flashing cooked roms to it. Im using a ported blackstone m2d rom on my wizard and refuse to use the old htchome screen on my new phone
thanks for the help I would have spet the next few days trying to get t3d to work on my factory rom.

Ooh - no. That thread must have started about a week after I last tried TF3D and I missed it! I'll have to give it another try now.... (damn you )
Hi there
Can we have this landscape theme on our fuzes? This is from a blackstone.
I think the landscape mode that comes with the most roms is not useful. it will be good if we can have a landscape mode with the same funtionality as portrait mode.
Have U tryed SEARCH function ?
I did it ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=491774

I for one would like a landscape as depicted, I don't understand why you pointed to NRG's ROM I know he is working on the Manila 2 with others but I haven't seen anything like this before.
That landscape is from the new rhodium (TP2) and Tapaz (D2) manila It isn't finished yet. Xbox, DHarvey and myself and a couple of others are working our ass off to get it finished. NRG's ROM has a preview of that manila (unfinished. So take that or check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475557
I did search for hours and nothing. what i want is a landscape theme where you can read your sms, have the music functionality with the album cover, a calendar, programs tab, etc. just like portrait mode.

you must be dumber than Sarah Palin. That's TF3D2 on the Blackstone which was ripped from the new Rhodium ROM and it currently being ported to VGA. If you want to try it out then you can flash NRG's new ROM.
This is a good example of asking a question which has plentifully been answered. Still I think it's better to ignore it than bashing the TS, I'm sure in time he'll learn to search properly and we don't have to waste our time on these things.

Don't forget that some users might still find these topics helpfull, like me for example. I find this forum very difficult to get through, to find the information I need (since some topics count over 70 pages). The search function doesn't give me good results either. I've had a TYTNII for a year, and I never understood why the manila2d couldn't be done in landscape mode.
<--- "That's TF3D2 on the Blackstone which was ripped from the new Rhodium ROM and it currently being ported to VGA. If you want to try it out then you can flash NRG's new ROM" --->
The above made me realize that it's because of ripping/porting that manila-landscape still doesn't exist for tytnII nor for raphael (my new phone).
Anyway, I'll get to the point. I don't think it's a waste of time to reply to these sort of questions, just lock the topic afterwards. It's not always because of a noob not able to find the search function. We're not all rocket scientists you know .
EDIT: And now I think of it, what's the pain replying on a topic which will probably cost you about 4 seconds of your life?
enough bashing for the poor fellow?
if you don't want to flash another rom, there's a cab i found a while back that has something like that and is installable as a cab file.

rhodium manila port
maybe I'm missing something glaringly obvious, but if you're interested in getting the the landscape mode to look like the portrait, go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493531
As mentioned in some of the other responses, it is the rhodium version of manila (aka touch flo) that has been ported to the touch pro (aka Raphael). It works on most ROMs to my knowledge including stock ROMs. Currently, XBMod is working on porting the Topaz version of manila to the touch pro (see link). It works wonderfully on the Alltel touch pro, which is what I have. Hope this helps.

This is the new touchflo 3D 2. has all the lanscape things you want
That this next question can result in my death here on XDA, but I might as well ask it.
So I want to flash my rom, and so far I've read through all the steps and am almost ready, but I'm worried that if I do so, what will I lose on AT&T's network?
Do I have to get medianet back? And myisp? What do I have to do once I've flashed and everything?

The only thing you will lose is all the AT$T bloatware. Most of te custom roms all have auto config and will configure AT$T settings and Media net upon start up . I have a Tilt and never have to reset connection settings after flash, unless you are using some obscure rom from a chef in Siberia.
Josh, shifu,TPC ,Pheonix, Sakajati, Solace, b16b,abusalza ,Athine,ai6908,...etc, all have auto config.
Haha, alright man, thanks for the answer and not killing me.
Ok, new question. I've just literally spent the last 5 hours searching through XDA's forums looking for a mod with a few specifications, but have not found one.
I want Windows Mobile 6.1.
I DO NOT want Manilla 2D (I like landscape mode, and no Manilla 2D landscape hack works good).
I want Omnia/D3D Driver.
I want Opera (any version) w/ Flash lite 3.1.
I want it to be slightly modified with a black screen (a little more touch friendly).
Finally I want a good amount of RAM and Storage. Anything more than what AT&T's TyTN II give's me is fine.
So from any veterans out there, are there any suggestions? I'm not asking for the best ROM since I know that'll never be answered, but I need a ROM with all those specifications. There's no way I'm downgrading to AT&T's sad excuse for a ROM.
Seriously, I'm not tryin to be a lazy-ass, I've spent forever looking. Me being a newb/noob I can't tell if Lite versions or Naked versions are better.
Half the things you're looking for can be added by you. So that cuts it's down to finding a rom without manila. Mostly
...Mostly what?
Oh the suspense.
Alright then, just two specifications.
1. A finger-friendly WMO 6.1 ROM WITHOUT Manilla (I like my landscape).
2. Has the 3D hardware drivers.
There's probably many ROMs like that, but it seems all I can find are M2D or WMO 6.5. Not asking for the best, just what are some ROMs that you know of that has those two specs?
Quick message to the mods. All questions answered here (or in other threads). Thread can be closed/deleted.
Big thanks to denco.
i think you haven't used manila2d...
you should know:
1. ROMs that include manila2d don't FORCE you to use manila2d...you can just disable it and use any other today/home screen plugin that you like
2. the manila2d "landscape bug" affects manila2d ONLY. what i mean to say is that ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS will run perfectly fine in landscape mode with manila2d DISABLED. moreover, ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS will work perfectly fine in landscape mode with manila2d ENABLED, with the caveat that the device will switch to portrait the moment you return to the today/home screen where manila2d runs.
i recommend getting the APRIL 10th, 2009 Hyperdragon ROM by SAKAJATI (www.sakajati.com). it has the omnia d3d drivers, it is VERY stable, it is winmo6.1, it comes with manila2d (which you can simply disable), and it is a medium loaded ROM (i.e. not too many applications preinstalled and not very bare bones either). my signature says i am using it but actually i am not because i am exploring winmo6.5 these days but if i ever go back to winmo6.1, it would be the ROM i mentioned at the beginning of this paragraph.
Alright, one last quick question anybody. I just flashed, everything seems to be working OK. But I have a different radio. If I switch radios to the one the ROM tells me I need, will I still have AT&T's service (last noob question guys, I swear)?
I don't really understand what switching radios does besides making sure cameras/texting/phone calls all work (which is most definitely needed). But will I lose service with AT&T?
So now I've flashed and everything's worked. I guess taking a deepbreath and just going at it's the best way to approach flashing.
Any senior members mind linking me to the M2D Landscape thread? I know there was one with the two M2D Landscape projects, but I've lost it now.
And once again, for real for real this time mods, lock and end this thread.
Hi everybody, I recently got a Diamond2 and found that the enormous amount of expertise and help available at xda-developers have really helped me enjoy this phone. The phone is not locally supported by any carriers or retailers in Canada so the availability of these forums have been a real help. I've run through most of the issues I've had with the phone (really like the Pro2 Interface better but was way to bulky) but have a few remaining that I haven't been able to find satisfactory answers for, hope you guys will be able to help.
I've downloaded and played around with what seem to be most of the prerequisite softwares: Advanced Config Tool, Klaxon, Changescreen etc. and have also made a couple of registry modifications to enable TF3D rotation and things like that. Here is where I'm getting into a bit of trouble. Although changescreen is a great app I just don't like to install a lot of things on my device and decided to try the regedit. After a soft reset it seemed to work great but was quite slow in switching over to landscape and back. At first I though this was a problem with the g-sensor so I opened up Opera to try it out and found that it was much faster. Obviously it's a lot less graphically intense but I was playing around with a Touch Pro2 before I bought the Diamond2 and it is also significantly faster, with the same processor and everything. I've tried to reduce the sampling time for the g-sensor down from 200ms to 100ms in ACT but that didn't really seem to help. Also I get some really weird lines across the tops of TF3D pages in landscape; in the All Contacts page for example the bar that contains "Search Contacts" will have at least three sets of distorted lines across it at regular intervals across the page. The wallpaper also seems to malfunction as instead of staying as it was, it will stretch across the width of the screen and as a result become extremely distorted. The dialer doesn't go into landscape but that seems to be a common issue. I've downloaded the Rhodium Phone Dialer although I haven't had a chance to install it yet, maybe that will fix the dialer issue.
I do have some app installed that changes the background of all tabs to be the same and this seems to have messed with the transparency of the tab bar and, occasionally the phone will fail to respond to screen swipes that would usually cycle through the tabs without using the tab bar. Maybe this app is also causing the other problems.
The help on these forums has already been a great asset and I was just hoping that I would be able to get some simple fixes for the issues with the landscape thing without having to install more software. Thanks in advance for any help, its all appreciated. Cheers.
PS, rom is 1.39.421.0 (47382) WWE
what you can do to improve things:
1. ditch stock rom and use tess rom
2. install flipit for rotation software - its better than the rest IMO
Thanks for the quick reply
Thanks for the quick reply, sorry I wasn't able to reply right away, got a bit busy at uni.
I was a bit apprehensive about installing a new rom but the one you recommended is amazing. The speed increase alone is unbelievable, doesn't even feel like the same device.
Everything is working great and the rotation is really fast now on everything except TF3D. It almost looks like it attempts to rotate and then fails. The title bars rotate around and then rotate back. I've added the regedit, manually removed and added it back into flip_it, but nothing seems to be working. Aside from that everything else seems perfect. Hope you'll be able to help, and once again, thanks.
oh yeah.. forgot to mention about manila in landscape
go to search and look for At0mAng & Danny_and_2 TF3D2 Tweak cab for topaz
install, and in the list of programs, there is option called Manila Rotate ON.
and thats it, you are all set...
hope this helps

Can I ask where to read and get this rom?
I am also new to Topaz.
Running on stock ROM
been reading around. reading on the various rom threads to decide which to use.
I am looking for something stable, fast (aren't we all?) and 6.1. Still got Manila and hopefully with Titanium built in. Also if possible with ringtones removed.
What would you recommend?
Thanks

Almost there
Thanks for the tip about the tweak program, installed it and followed your directions, manila is now rotating. However, its still incredibly slow; in the range of 3-5 seconds for transition to landscape and then around 1-2 seconds back to portrait. Also, those distortive lines I described earlier are back.
I was hoping for the kind of speed seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPVgN5QuzO4 but I do realize that its a different rom. I've disabled and enabled TF3D and also done a soft reset, but no speed increase. I was thinking it may be a hardware issue but everything else works fine. One thing I have noticed though is that since installing this rom some programs get stuck half rotated and the other half of the screen will display the TF3D home page. Once again, thanks for all the help so far.
P.S. If I disable TF3D the blank today screen will rotate at the same speed as in that video if not faster. Also before when the menus rotated but not TF3D they were rotating at the same fast speed.
yes, I know what you mean.. at this stage, manila rotates pretty slow for me too...
I guess at the moment, we have to live with it... the slow rotation only happens on tf3d2 rite? the rest is ok...
as with hardware issue, I am sure it is not, cause topaz is still relatively new...
btw, Manila 2.1 is around, and manila 2.5 is coming too... so, maybe they would give better performance .
btw, the youtube link is a rom made by Tom Condon, and as you probably know, he is very active in building rom for topaz too... why dont you give him a message, or try his rom...
Tha
sorry double post again..
Sounds good
Glad to know that it wasn't just a one off issue. I'll give his rom a shot, was kind of wary b/c of the comments that said WM 6.5 was slow. Would you be able to direct me to somewhere that I'd be able to download TF3D 2.1 alone without a rom upgrade or anything or maybe even cooked into the TESS rom. Thanks for the incredible quick reply and for all the help so far.

Thanks
Ye, sorry about that didn't quite follow the forum all the way, I guess I'll be waiting. Thanks man.
Can anyone point me to the CAB that corrects the landscape issue for M2D? I found one posted by mbavarian but the link is dead. I'm running -shifu- WWE 6.1 ROM on my ATT Tilt. Nice ROM but when you end a program and return to the Today screen it returns to portrait mode even though the keyboard is slid out.
Thanks!!
I would be interested in this too-I was not aware that there was a "fix," as M2D was never designed to work in landscape unlike newer versions of TF3D that have it built in.
As stated it was never created to run in landscape mode. There are fixes but all the ones I have tried have been pointless. If you want a fully fledged and supported device for landscape mode, then run a stock rom.
There is a fix based on mbv's by shifu it's not a 100% fix as works via mort to create a action screen when keyboard opened, i'm mobile @ mo so cant give direct link but click my ROM in sig and work from back of thread as i linked it for users, to be honest if you like m2d then you get used to the nuance of landscape and work around it...
Ok, thanks guys! Will live with nuance of portrait mode. Love M2D home screen.
I still have the file. I believe this is what you are talking about. Its a bit slow to rotate but it does work.
Yes, that's it! Thanks!!
