Touch Diamond2 VS MDA Compact V (looks)? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since this week I can order the new MDA Compact V from T-mobile in the Netherlands.
I haven't seen this device in the flesh, only on some pictures.
How does the Compact V look/fee; compared to the original Diamond2?
Is there a picture or a movie of this comparison?
From the pictures, I think that the Compact V looks a little "plastic"....

Hey.. The MDA Compact V looks a bit plastic that's right,
but this "plastic look" is caused by the buttons under the screen. They don't look good and have an extremely plastic look.
The rest of the device looks ok or in some details better than the Diamond2 (See the back cover).
----------Here you find some detailed pictures.----------
If you don't speak german: click on "weiter" or "zurück" on top of the device to navigate.
There are many people around who would love to have a matt back cover for their Diamond2;
so you have to choose (or pay for a Diamond2 + new matt cover^^)
Compared to the MDA Compact IV (Diamond1) it doesn't feel that nice, but I guess it's because this device is 2mm fatter

Thanks for the usefull answer!
I indeed do like the matt back cover! Looks good! Looks better then the shiny (scratchy) back of the TD2!
I think that I don't like the 'curved' bottom, compared to the 'flat' bottom of the TD2, and the stupid 'plastic' buttons on the bottom of the device look crap, but:
Are those buttons black, like in this t-mobile picture:

}
or are they a sort of aluminium/silver, like in this picture:

I think it looks nice but prefer the original TD2. The reason i think it looks plastic like is because it is to rounded on the edges. Also the back cover is half gloss and half rubberized. I'd prefer it to be all removable like the TD2 and either full gloss or full Rubber. Other than it's alright.

the buttons on mine Compact V are black, not silver...
My opinion:
- The back from the compact V looks better than the diamond2
- The front from the diamond 2 looks better than the comopact V, the compact has a 'plastic look'
- The bigegst dissapontment for me ( see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=518991) is the cover on the usb port. Unlike the diamond2, the compact V has a removable cover on the usb port. I'ts attached with a little rubber cord. The housing aside the usb port is not completely closed, you can look 'inside' the phone, so permanently removing the cover is not an option.
Using a car kit will be difficult bacause you can't slide the phone in...

No word yet if Victor comes with Micro SD card.
They are the same apart from the casing, just different ODM/OEM version for different markets
The Victor looks like the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV varient
Indeed but they have different structure of hardware keys (between HTC & T-Mobile).
Yes, that are swapped! i wonder why?
I guess we shall never know...
I prefer the Touch Diamond - it looks more interesting.
i like more touch diamond, it´s more fashion
I prefer the rounded aspect of HTC VICTOR
Have a look at the T-MOBILE one

Well, in the demos I've seen, people have smashed it against things, and it hasn't shown any signs of damage. I think it's designed for rough use - it has toughened glass protecting the screen, for example...
The bit that will scratch is the back as there are only a few points it rests on, when it vibrates it will move along the desk / counter / surface it’s on, and therefore scratch the back.
That problem shouldn’t be as bad on the T-mobile variant. Also the T-Mobile variant is a lot more understated. Think Dell XPS vs Dell Precision laptops. Same innards but ones for the gaming market with flashing LEDs the other for business.
At the end of the day though no point in arguing, as everyone has a choice just go for what you prefer the most.
The victor is the cdma diamond afaik.
EDIT: yep i was right. pic attached.

Wouldn't that just wear down the few points that it rests on though? That would reduce scratching, as most of the surface is not in contact with anything. My Touch rests on just two small lumps near the bottom of the back and a single point further up the back (I suspect it's some part of the camera) and it has no scratches.

Silicone Skin & Pouch - together.

Hello,
I thought I'd share my silicone skin and case combination with you, both from good old eBay...
Silicone Skin (& screen protector): eBay link - £3
For that price, it was worth a gamble and it paid off! If looks nice, fits perfectly and is nice to hold. The screen protector is a bonus and it also fits perfectly. (this might me UK only shipping though)
Pouch: eBay link - £2.50
Supposedly original HTC, but I wouldn't know... It's like the HTC supplied pouch that came with my last phone, HD2. The above silicone skin fitted on my Incredible S fits inside of this pouch, and it's a really good fit like it was built for it! No problem getting it out to answer a call. I paid £2.50 with free shipping on a 'buy it now'.
Over all, for around £5.50 all-in, I'm happy with this combination - my phone is nicely protected and isn't too bulky in my pocket.
That case looks really nice, could you post some photos of it?
thanks, ill be looking into the case
Someone wanted photos...?
As requested, I just took some pics for you.
(I've just had a bag of crisps so I had to polish my phone a bit to get rid of greasy finger prints - I hope you all appreciate my effort!!)
I should have put these up in my original post really, but here you go...

By the way, the silicone case was delivered in a couple of days after placing the order (UK Royal Mail).
The Pouch came from Asia somewhere, but it got here safely and took around 10 days.
do you find it hard to press down on the power button?
+1 on the question about power buttons but also about the volume buttons - are they still easily pressed??
i was also wondering what kind of material is it?
is it soft stretchy silicone that grips really well? because i hate it when those stick in my pocket, or is it more like the inc. s's original case finish?? kind of hard / rubbery?
thanks
The power button and the volume buttons push OK. There are moulded 'buttons' in the case and pressing them activates the buttons just fine. I've never had a problem with them not working.
Regarding the material it is made from, its not a really rubbery/sticky material, so it shouldn't gather pocket fluff! Its actually quite smooth and rigid (the material), flexible still, but holds the shape of the phone nicely. You can just about stretch it over the phone to get it on.

INVENTCASE® CASE for ZTC

I just got a case/cover for my ZTC. As the title suggested, this is from INVENTCASE. Let's take a look at this.
I got mine from eBay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/361112178753?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&var=630453642867&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
This is a synthetic leather, not a genuine (according to them). The material feels nice.

This thing came with a magnet so it is a smart cover.. in a way. It will turn the screen on once you flip it open.
You got a cut out for the speaker at the bottom.
and top.
Cut out for Power/Volume buttons.
and for USB port.
Stand position.
One BIG cons for this cover is that the fitting is kinda loose so the cut out hole for camera won't align.
You can push it a little to make them align but it will slide back to the original position.
This will cause vignetting when you use a camera.
If you adjust your tablet the vignette will reduce but not goes away. Hugh downside for me.
So.. what's your opinion? For me I like this one especially the color. The camera problem, however, keep me looking for another case. Until I found the perfect one for me, this will stay on my tablet.
Thank yo ufor the photos and review. I personally do not opt for any case with bezels around, THat's like 10 years old design...
Yep, I personally don't like that either but I used to use the cheapo case with the mounting like the official Sony cover and it scratch my iPad.
So when I browse for the cover with some new color (I don't like the sony cover color choices) on ebay there are only some Chinese cheapo. I try to stay away from that.

Cheap design but thanks for the review. You should review the official Sony cover. http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/style-cover-stand-scr28/

iPads are just very easy to scratch because of material used, while I don't beleive that the Z3TC can be scratched that easily. Moreover, good cases have the soft materials inside the case.

[Q] What is Liv's Phone? (iZombie)

I used to own a Z1 before moving to Z3 and it looks so much like a Z1 to me.
The UI look's like Xperia's Kitkat and the blinking notification light too:

Any thoughts?

I just started watching this a few days ago. I too have been trying to figure out what kind of smartphone Liv uses. From the back it kinda / sort of looks like a Huawei P8. But it can't be because the P8 came out this month. Why is there no brand name on her device?
This is the backside of the P8:

It never occurred to me that she was using a case. That explains everything. I believe that you are right about the Sony Xperia Z1. I noticed they covered up the Sony label on the front.
As I'm Using One It's A "Z1". :v

Skin instead of case?

Hi, I've recently found out about skins - an interesting alternative for cases. To be honest, I couldn't find any good case for this phone. Now I'm using Nilikin Case - it's slim, looking pretty good, but has cracks in few places already. I guess it doesn't give me any protection anyway in case of hitting the floor. But naked phone is way to slippery (especially the glass on the back). So why not trying skin instead? I had hard time to find something, which has (potentially) good quality. I had to find international (on eBay), because there was almost nothing in my country to buy (only printed crap with very bad reviews).
So I found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3D-Carbon-S...sh=item419deb1600:g:ie8AAOSwYHxWFs20#shpCntId
So, should I give it a try?
I'd vote for: yes! Looks definitely interesting, please share some pictures if you do.
Ordered Brushed 3D: Black. We'll see how it performs.
Just got my skin today! I didn't expect it so early. Anyway it's not easy task to put this skin (and any other as well i guess). I left my metal bumper, because it love how it's looking. So only top and back skin are on. Gonna post some photos maybe tomorrow

Thanks for the pics! Do you like it? Is the material nice to touch?
Yeah I like it. Material is nice to touch and looks durable. But who knows how really tough it is, we'll see in few weeks. One downside is front skin covers notification led! Because of that it's very dim.
After a week of usage I have to say it got some scratches on back (several). Fortunately there aren't that much visible.

Well, a lot of scratches, but they aren't that visible on black texture. However I've taken off front skin, because when phone was heating up (while playing some games) sticky glue was going from it. Fall damage? Well - it doesn't give you any protection from falling on the ground and any other skin won't give you any. For me it's great cover for back glass, because glass has a lot of fingerprints and is very slippery.
i prefer the case than the skin. the skins don't give much protection already the both side of my phone got cracked
