Help with AT&T annoying USSD notification - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know how to turn off the USSD balloon :
"The last transaction cost 0.00 USD. Your account balance..."
without turning off you MediaNet connection?
If it's not possible to turn if off, the two things I like to do are:
- make sure it doesn't beep every time
- prevent it from making you "leaving" the running applications
I tried to create the regkey: SuppressUSSD = DWORD(1).
It worked except that I can't use medianet anymore with it.

ATT/Cingular 3G Dies on Occasion?

Is anyone else having a problem where, when on ATT 3G, the data connection dies. IE fails to connect, and Activesync Direct Push stops working. A soft reset fixes the problem, but my problem is that my direct push email stops working without warning.
Ideas?

Mine did this as well.....there are some setting that need to be updated.....Only your carrier can update these settings .....I called and haven't had a problem since.
Peace
Mike
Same problem. Just called ATT customer service. They had the wrong IMEI number on my account. They made the change, and everything appears to be fine now.
Mine is doing the same. I wonder what settings they are updating?
Its not just 3G, I have recently been having this problem in edge and thought that it was because I was using a non-ATT rom build...so I went over to an official att rom and everything is working fine. I do not leave my data on all the time, I have it set to disconnect automatically after a few minutes and all of my email/rss/etc to be done manually....well, it would ALWAYS work with the first attempt after a soft-reset, but after automatically disconnecting it would very frequently produce errors if I would try to check emails again without rebooting.
I wonder if this has anything to do with their data connection...I was lucky enough to slip through the weeding out process they had a month ago about their data plans...I pay $20 a month for 200 text message and all the data I need, but everytime I talk to them I have to argue and raise dust so they will leave that alone and not put me on the $5 text plan and seperate $30 data plan.

Phone settings problem

I guys;
Rogers Network Canada
Recently my cell phone started to act weird. First dialling is taking about 30 to 45 seconds before connecting with the other line now all my calls are been redirected to my voice mail. No ring no vibe straight to the mailbox!
I was trying to see if it’s something I did by accident in the phone by going to phone settings , services
Call barring (can’t get access to it)
message- cannot read settings from network. Try viewing settings letter or disconnect data connection and try again.
before I was able to access it not sure if it may be a hardware problem now
Caller ID (can’t get access) same message
Call forwarding (can’t get access) same message
I can only access Call waiting and Voice mail and Tex Messages.
I soft reset the phone no luck then hard reset no luck either flashed new room and nothing!! I don’t know what else to do. Call Customer support and he asked me to try my sim card in another phone and it worked just fine. I switched my wife’s sim card in my phone and same problem her calls go straight to the mail box!
Any help will be very appreciate
any tool or software to fix the problem?

Possible fix for missed calls.

CDMA can't do data and voice at the same time so if the phone is transferring data and you get an incoming call, it will go to straight to voicemail. For WM most people don't notice this because data isn't always on, but for us it's more of a problem especially if you're using things like navigation.
There is a solution, it's to turn off "Dedicated Data Transmission Mode". For some reason this is enabled by default (at least on my device).
To do this, start a console and type:
Code:
echo -e "AT+HTC_DDTM=0\r" > /dev/smd0
if you want to see if it's enabled first type:
Code:
echo -e "AT+HTC_DDTM?\r" > /dev/smd0
and then do:
Code:
su
logcat -b radio
There should be an entry at the end saying:
Code:
AT< +HTC_PKTST: 0
if it's disabled, or
Code:
AT< +HTC_PKTST: 1
if it's enabled.
Anyone know why this is enabled by default, surely calls are more important than data?
If this works well we can put it in the RIL.
Will this stay disabled even after a reboot? Or is it something that would need to be done every boot?
This sounds great. I actually haven't missed many calls, I think I lost more in Windows Mobile.
This is a small related question / observation: in winmo, if a text message came in, it would interrupt the data. On Android, it appears that the text does not interupt data at all. I could tell this because I stream music, and in Winmo it would always stop and rebuffer, but Android, the text comes in and nothing is lost. It appears to me that Android handles our data service more efficiently. Also, it seems like 3g coverage sticks better in areas of poor service (my office on the 43rd floor for example)

It stays disabled after a reboot.
interesting, would this interfere with sms too? I would assume the sms just keeps trying again until the phone accepts it, and this would not affect it?

Yes, SMS doesn't doesn't have this problem.
Can someone make an androidupdate.tar with these changes for noobs
PLz & Thanks
I was actually going to make a post about this...
I've been missing a ton of calls. I had no idea until several people (all non-related) gave me crap about it over the last 2 week. I even watched people try to call me 4-5 times in a row and nothing came through. Then they sent me texts and I got those instantly.
I've missed pizza delivery phone calls, calls to let me know to let people into a building, etc. I thought that maybe it was reception, but watching people call me proved that it wasn't. Didn't think it was data either, since I never really actively use it, and didn't think that so many calls would "happen" to fall on times where the data was being used in the background.
Quite unpleasant...
Needless to say, hopefully this remedies the issue!
Another possibility is the CMOD command. Usually it is only supported on GSM devices, but for some reason ours responds with OK which tells me maybe it is supported?
Right now it is set for CMOD=0 (I couldn't tell you why, nor can I tell you what will happen in the other modes... I still haven't found a good description of the spec)
Here's the description from a gsm spec:
AT+CMOD Select Call Mode
If single mode is selected, the call origination
and hang-up procedures are similar to those
specified in proposed ITU-T
Recommendations V.25ter, T.class1 and
T.class2. Semicolon dial modifier shall be
used to start a voice call when +FCLASS=0.
In GSM there can be alternating voice/ data
and voice/ fax calls (see GSM 02.03).
Syntax: AT+CMOD=<mode> <cr>
Parameters: <mode> = 0, 1, 2 or 3
0 = single mode. (DEFAULT)
1 = alternating voice/fax (teleservice 61).
2 = alternating voice/data (bearer service 61).
3 = voice followed by data (bearer service 81).
Interesting.
I stream a shoutcast stream and Podcasts everyday to/from work. In cases where people do call me, the stream stops and the phone rings.
I am using a CDMA phone (Sprint) too.
I just tried streaming audio via OrbLive while receiving a call and it stopped the streaming and displayed the incoming call. Sprint Touch as well.
If it makes a difference, I had to close OrbLive and restart it in order to continue using it. It kept showing that it was trying to connect, but never did, so I closed it.
this was disabled by default on my phone... or maybe I disabled it last year? I don't know...
I think we should absolutely add this to the RIL.
mine is disabled, using plemen's donut from nand. for a while (a couple months) now I have had no problem with missing calls, even when using internet or navigation.
Anyway to script this one up?

[Q] How can I disable "after call summary" ?

These days I’m on vacation using a pre-paid connection. I actaved a data connection on it and started getting these usage summary notifications every few seconds (e.g: Data charge is xx.xx, your available balance is yy.yy, valid until dd/mm/yy). Its really annoying because if I keep the phone locked for like an hour I am presented with 50 odd such messages that I have to press OK before being able to use the phone . When I called the technical support, I was told that it is a phone feature usually called “After call summary” or “call summary”, that can be turned off from the phone itself. Since they don’t carry any android devices he couldn’t help me where to find it. I looked around myself, but couldn’t find anything . Can someone help me with this ? Thanks.
Guess no one knows about this feature or how to disable it?
some one help me with this too..
Hi. I don't think it's a device feature. And if it's a "call summary" then it shouldn't inform about data plan. Try searching for a disabling code on your operator's website.
I have a "call summary" enabled - it pops up after a call, and I can disable/enable it only with a USSD code defined by operator.
Remove Call Summary Screen on Verizon Galaxy 8
I was getting an annoying call summary screen on my Galaxy 8s. It appeared to have the green android messaging icon in the call summary and splash screen. I use the Verizon massaging app. I therefore disabled the android messaging app and the issue disappeared. If you have another android, see if you can replace the android messaging app prior to disabling it.

[Q] SipDroid + PBXes users, is what I am trying to do possible?

Hi all, is it possible to utilize Sipdroid + PBXes if my HTC One does not have a cell phone number associated with it? I am currently not using it with any carrier and I was hoping that I can use this as a Wifi only device to make and receive calls, I'm just not sure if it is possible.
I have set up Sipdroid with my PBXes account (it was done automatically after I clicked on New link and created a PBXes account through Sipdroid). I get the green light in my notifications pull-down implying that I am connected, but any time that I try to make a call, it tries to dial for four seconds and then immediately hangs up. I went through the settings and initially it did not have WLAN checked. I checked this box and tried to make a call, only to yield the same results.
Now, for the strange part. I tried setting up my Sipdroid on my other phone that is associated with a carrier (this phone does have a cell phone number). This time, however, I could not use the New PBX linked to my Google Voice option because I had already created a PBX account. Instead, I went through the settings and entered everything exactly as it was set up on my HTC One.
Authorization Username: myusername-200
Password: myPBXpw (or mygooglevoicepw, they are both the same)
All of the settings are exactly the same, but Sipdroid keeps giving me a Registration failed (401 Unauthorized) error.
So, to sum up, here are my questions:
1. Is it possible to use Sipdroid + PBXes + GV in order to make and receive calls on my HTC One that does not have a cell phone number associated with the phone. If so, how?
2. Why is Sipdroid giving me the Registration failed (401 Unauthorized) error on my HTC Thunderbolt that does have a cell phone number associated with it? How can I fix this?
Sorry I can't be too much help on your issue with sipdroid... but I can offer up my setup. I've been using this for awhile, with mostly my tablet (nexus 7) and works like a charm. Plus I have 2 other old android phones with no sim cards and this works beautifully. So to answer your first question if its possible to use the HTC One without a sim or phone number; yes.
I attached my zip. Sorry for the cursing as I made this 'how to' for a few of my friends awhile ago and disregard the framework files stuff as that was for tablets. Best of all as this runs through your google voice account you will keep everything in order; call logs, txt, etc.
I always recommend this setup to my friends and family especially if they are traveling overseas, works like a charm.... as long as you have decent wifi... or data for that matter as I used this in conjunction with Tmobile's $30 plan that only comes with 100min talk time as this was the solution. If your set on your setup, no worries just trying to help
Thanks, I appreciate the input! I am somewhat stubborn and set on making Sipdroid + PBXes work, so I will wait a little longer to get this configuration set up correctly. I do appreciate you chiming in and letting me know that it is at least possible.
1. Yes it's possible.
2. Delete your account from pbxes.org. And create a new pbxes acct from your phone not tablet. Then use the credentials on your tablet.
