I just received my TD2 and have tried to install 3rd party applications, though i keep getting the following:
"Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate."
I have done some searching through the forums and google and have tried running
SP_AllowCertificateInstall & Cert_SPCS and these fail to install.
What other options do i have to edit registry keys (Have tried installing Registry_Editor>V0.9 without success).
Any assistance with this would be great.
Denis
Which apps have you tried to install?
Advanced Config Tool
Monopoly
Resco Brain Games
Worms
I will also be installing I-Go, still looking at applications i want.
None of these apps work?
All of them failed to install??
That is correct. None will install.
Have you tried to hard reset?
Would it need a hard reset. considering i pulled it out of the box on monday? Its literally brand new.. So stupid question, How do i hard reset these? Is it a hold the reset and power for 5 seconds deal?
Sorry for my newbie essence
But are you trying to install ppc or smartphone programs?
I got that message once and had to install sdkcerts.cab before I could proceed.
But I dont think all these apps would require this. Have you been able to install *anything*? If not, then a hard reset would not be a bad idea, out of the box or not. After all, its Windows.
Hard reset the device by holding both volume buttons and pressing the red reset button. Then the display should say "press volume up" or something.
So i hard reset the phone.. and booyah.. programs installed... and then as soon as i configured my email.. BOOOMMM.. it stopped working.. WTF?? WTF indeed. Now, I cant remove my email settings. Something is screwy. It may have been the active sync on my vista machine???? who knows.. but something is not right, now it doesnt prompt me for any signing it simply denies all.
So.. after some more reading.. it appears my phone App locks??? So where can i get an AppUnlocker for this??
Ok.. fixed.

Download this and follow instructions.. it works on the Touch Diamond 2 as I have just done this..

Hi guys, I am having some little problems with my Xda2i as following.
1. I use button lock to stop using the camera button (as I always accidentally touch it then camera starts, many time I open camera without notice for long time till my battery almost gone!!) Every time I soft reset, it always turn to defalut mode.
2. Also the same happen with "today". I show some items such as Worldmate. When soft reset, it disappears (though I ticked to show it always)
3. Favorites network also the same, ticked it then changed after reset.
Could anybody please help me?.
Many many thanks in advance..
do what i have done removed the camera from my start up prgrams and allocated the button to none that way it can't activate
as for the others i'm not to sure ,i'm sure some1 else will be able to help
Sounds like somehow the registry has become read only. Have a look in the startup folder and see if there any programs in there that shouldn't be running. Also has this started after some program has been installed?
Hi Pug, checked my startup and found below program lists
-camera_detect
-checkautorun
-clear_notify
-IA_CID_start
-PHM Traylaunch
-PhotocontactPro
-Pocketnavy
-poutlook
-RunBT
-spb GPRS monitor
-STK
It seems like you doubt, it happens after program installation.
Any more advice?
Many many thanks
I don't doubt you at all, just trying to help you solve this.
PHM hasn't got a registry restore feature has it? If it has try disabling it. I don't use it so I don't know.
Don't know what that Pocket Navy is so can't comment on that.
If you delete Camera_Detect you can assign the camera button to something else if you want and the button assignment will survive a soft reset.
Sorry for my aweful english, Pug.
This problem wa before PHM installed, it should be ok (anyway I am not knowledgable to know if it has registry or not. I am too new hands)
Pocketnavy is "CloseAll" I like it more because it has window to see running programs and can select to close which one. THe most important is it free.
I will try to fix it as you recommend. Very appreciated your time to help.
Thanks again
I didn't find anything about this in the forum and I was hoping that someone could help me. Basically I soft resetted my device (used the stylus and hit the deeply embedded button) but when it booted up, it ran the setup that it does when you first turn on the phone or if you do a hard reset. I mistakenly ran through the calibration and finally it booted up with the bloatware and original settings. The weird thing is, all my files and programs are present but all my registry has been reset. Also I cannot open SKTools, the latest program that which I installed. But, this didn't happen right after I installed it. It was after a couple of days.
I did however accidentally selected "restore settings to default" or something like that under "Tune up!" in SKTools. But this weird hard-reset paradox didn't happen right after I did that. It was much later. So it may or may not be the cause of this. Also I cannot seem to open SKTools but I can open everything else that doesn't require any registry... =[ Also, some app files are missing but some things are left like shortcuts? I'm not really sure...
At least my contacts, calendar reminders, and everything else is still saved.
btw I do not have a backup file or anything (yeah I know I gotta) but I guess I was careless ='[...
Someone please help, is there a way I can restore it- maybe an automatic restore image is hiding somewhere???
Hello All,
I recently upgraded myself to the Diamond and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get software that A: Allows me to lock folders so that a password would open it? B: Anti-virus is it needed and if yes what freeware options are around? C: GPS software, when I visit Google Maps mobile I get told my phone does not support it yet I have seen many review sites saying that they have got it working so how do I do this? The error message is "Sorry, Google Maps does not work on your HTC P3600." errr thats not a Diamond is it? url I was visiting to get that message "www.google.com/gmm". Also this is my first time with a Windows Mobile Phone so I am new to this.
Also after browsing 6 pages deep of the diamond thread how about a sticky of essential app's for the Diamond? Or did I miss something?
So can anyone help?
*edit* My ROM version is 1.37.421.3 WWE date: 06/18/08 is this the latest ROM? Or is there an update? BTW I am from South Africa.
a. theres loads of pocket pc software that can password protect folders just google it!
http://www.google.co.uk/search?sour...88&q=pocket+pc+password+protect+folders&meta=
b. lots of pocet pc antivirus software has cropped up recently, personally i dont see the point, ive had nearly every pocket pc phone since the XDA1 and i have never even heard of a virus for that platform!
c. yes google maps should use your in built gps, and the diamond is a P3700 not a 3600 so something is definately wrong there, i would suggest a hard reset 1st, then if that does not cure it, then flash a different rom to ur device, are you trying to go to the google maps website on your phone??? because thats your problem! the diamond has a google maps program pre installed on the device! go to ur programs list!!!
A: I did try googling but all I found was software that wanted you to pay also iw as not sure if what I have is a pocket pc or a smart phone so my bad . I will go through the listing for a freeware one thank you.
B: Thank You! I am new to this whole arena so I had no idea if it was a good thing or not.
C: I dont see Google Maps anywhere in my program listing also switching the phone on and off doesnt help in any way still get the same error message. The only thing remotly saying anything about GPS is something called quickGPS whatever that is.
Thank You for your reply .
by HARD RESET i dont mean turn the phone off and on again, i mean restore the phone back to the way it came from the factory, which will reinstall all the bundled software, including google maps.
you do this with the phone on and Press and hold volume down and the action key and press the soft reset button with the stylus (while still holding volume down and action),
release soft reset button but keep the others pressed until the message appears on the screen.
Once the message appears you either press volume up to hard reset and leave internal storage intact or volume down to hard reset and clear internal storage.
I didnt have to do a hard reset to install Google Maps, just did a google search found the correct cab file and away we go.
Now to find a freeware folder locker, can Windows mobile run a .exe or does it have to be a cab file?
i recently installed manilla 2D and i cant seem to unistall it. has anyone found a way to uninstall it sucessfuly without a hard reset?

I think a hard reset is the recommended way to remove it. And no, a hard reset will not remove your rom, it will put it back like you just finished flashing.
NO U DONT HAVE TO HARD RESET
why go thru all that when there's an easier way.
what u need to do is:
1. dl and install sktools
2. make sure its not active on ur today screen
3. use sktools to uninstall it and soft reset once its done.
tadaaaa
Trial and error method!
Hi all,
My trial and error method which worked is to uninstall all the apps which came with Manilla2D, e.g. new comm manager, audio manager, etc. Ignore any messages that say "not completely uninstalled". Then, uninstall Manilla2D in the normal way, you will of course get the usual "not completely uninstalled" message. Select "No" to removing from list of installed applications. Then re-install the same Manilla2D cab file that you installed before. You will see the message: "The previous version will be uninstalled..." select to continue, then you will get a second message saying: "The previous version was not completely uninstalled...do you want to continue..." at which you should select to do so. The "install" will take about 3 or 4 minutes then if you are not prompted to restart your device at the end of the installation, you should do so anyway. When your device restarts it should be M2D free. N.B. one thing that seemed to help this process was preventing the device going to stand by during the whole process, by plugging it in or changing the power auto-off settings.
This method is not proven so it may not work on your device.
N.B. I am using ROMeOS 4.6.0. If you do need to hard reset your device I recommend this ROM anyway.
Best wishes,

Yes, after trying various things to remove Manila (including trying to install it again as suggested in another post) the only thing that worked for me was sktools BUT - even after SKTOOLs removed it, it left behind various side effects which took me two more days to get rid of
(i) I use Nadavi_Task_Manager_2_0_31261 . Its onscreen quick menu was spoiled. I had to remove and re-install it to get it back to normal
(ii) HTC Home - many things were screwed up, all teh phone numbers i had set up on the Favorite People tab were gone and I could not add any number. The weather tab had stopped working altogether. I had to install a patched version of HTC Home I found on these forums (not because I knew what I was doing but because I did not know what else to do!!)
So after all that I am wondering whether it would have been just easier to do a hard reset and restore from a back up (which as it happens I had taken just minutes before installing Manilla)

wow the first i heard of anything like this before..thats just crazy
ive de-installed and re-installed plenty of times prior to having manila on a rom with no issues, even during the opening hours of the coding release we had.
did u run the sktools clean up after de-installing?
registry cleaner as well?
and i presume u soft resetted as well? as the instructions say to do.
also u have to understand m2D isnt just a theme..its an app that takes over whatever else u had on ur today screen, just like any other app and also its not perfected we're still trying to get there, we're damn near close..but not at 100% just yet.
Whenever I get the "not completely uninstalled, would you like to remove from list of programs?" message, I just choose "No", soft reset, then uninstall the program once again. Works every time.
Hi guys,
I tried to uninstall Manilla2D too, and I used Sktools. But when i came to "Installed Programs" i couldnt see Manilla there. There were only 2 programs there: Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1, and SK Software SKtools.
Please tell me how to uninstall it. Im really sick ot it now...
Thanks
Ive ended up with stupid issue here, basically I replaced my digitizer with a cheap ebay one and made a mess of it, so now my touchscreen doesnt work. Ive been ok with that until today I flashed the rom to unlock the phone and the first screen pops up with "Please tap the screen to set up your device" or something similar. Thats something I cant physically do so if anyone knows a way around that I would LOVE to hear it
Cheers.
Not yet
People will recommend using tools such as mymobiler and such, that enable you to connect to your device over the PC using activesync.
It does work, for the first tap only. The screen alignment after that is where you are boned, I find myself in the same situation.
Try researching for registry keys that can be modified, as programs like Soti's Pocketpro will allow you to modify registry keys. I'll post if I find anything similar.
search for and read about "welcome.not". the idea is to create a blank file named "welcome.not" on your storage card so the phone chooses to skip the screen alignment wizard on first boot up.
The "solution" may be:
Try flashing one of Witschey's ROMs, because he does not include neither screen alignment nor apps setup in the ROM, so that you'll access the device after flashing, no need to soft-reset nor anything.
The question is, what are you going to do if you can't touch the screen ?
Well, i can do a few things that I need with it. Use it as a phone for a start
I get a free upgrade soon so Ill go with the hero or an iphone but until then I will need a phone and an mp3 player. You can still kind of use google maps even for GPS its just tricky. I did manage my way around London with it lol.
Thanks for the tips anyway guys, Ive tried deleting the welcome file already today but the device kind of locks after that in that you cant really see any icons, even tried 2 roms with it. I will give that Witschey ROM a go though that sounds like it could be the answer to this.
welcome.not
Welcome.not file worked for me, but I did not put in on a SD card, just in the root of the device after MS does activesync.
My computer<device<double click<paste
Took the battery out, turned it on, presto.
Thanks for that!!
No need to reflash, was cool.
Well I tried a Witschey ROM and its working great! Thank you afn961 for that one. It runs very fast indeed as well compared to the stock T-mobile WM6 I had on there. Only issue I have now is that I cant access some menus without the touchscreen, worst one being the running programs menu so stuff just stays open. Cant win em all though.
quite a few cooked ROMs these days are built so that the screen alignment wizard is skipped and it won't show up unless you invoke it explicitly.
i suggested the "welcome.not" approach because it is known to work in terms of skipping the screen alignment wizard and i thought you wanted to stick to the ROM you had because it was to your liking, else i'd have suggested one of the ROMs mentioned in the first paragraph.
finally, you CAN manage running applications using one of the many third party task switchers. i will suggest "showcase" or "taskfacade". the idea is to map your PTT button to invoke the task switcher. not sure if the following will work properly but you can set the default htc task manager to close applications (instead of minimizing them) when you press OK. so you can press OK to exit the foreground application or you can invoke the third party task manager to SWITCH to another application. that way, you get multitasking AND the ability to close the applications you don't need.
check it out and let us know how it goes, good luck!
