So my brother was drunk and thought it would be cute to lock the phone. Now he cant remember the password and I can not hard reset. How can I hard reset my phone to get around the lock????
Perhaps force flash it through USB?
Or you can take out the battery, and during reboot, force it to hard reset ..
Another way is during reboot, force it to flash (as long as you have the SD with KAISIMG.nbh of the ROM at it's root).
Wish you luck.
I tried force flash spl and it wont connect via usb. I also have tried a hard reset by holding the two soft kets on the front of the phone and hit the reset button. I also tired the power, camera and reset button.
When you do a hard reset, it just stays locked or you get a soft reset?
Try shutting down by unplug the battery, then during boot up, do hard reset. It shouldn't load the lock yet ..
A hard reset will remove the password (I did the same thing on the first day of owning my Kaiser, set a password on inital start up, it customised it's self, rebooted and I could not get past the login )
Make sure you follow these instructions for Hard Reseting : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Resets

Also, just so you know: a hard reset will delete your personal information that you have saved. If you don't want to delete your information, keep trying to break the code.

I have put back a wrong backup ( a backup from before I flashed my Wizard ). Now after I do a reset it keeps hanging in the Windows Mobile screen and won't start...In fact if I do a hard reset it does the same...it won't let me install all over...
HELP!
Found the solution: Hard resetting is slightly different than mentioned in the manual: :!:

You have to hold down the buttons (comm. manager+voice command
) then insert the stylus... then remove the stylus wile still holding the buttons and wait a second. then let go of the buttons.. it will then ask you to hit send to hard reset.

Thank you so much!!!
After flashing I usually wait for the device to boot and run customization then soft reset. After all that is done I do a hard reset. Is this all necessary, or could I just hard reset before it is even done booting the first time? What do you all do?
i do a hard reset once the flash complete - that is after 100% and the x1 reboot, i will HR then without waiting for the 1st boot
HR Immediately

Yes, the cookers advise that when the flash is complete, remove the battery then hard reset before the phone reboots first time.

exactly what i do too
so when your flashing via USB when it gets to 100% get ready to hold the 2 front soft keys when it reboots.
or if your flashing via SD card then when it says successful hold the two softkeys and push the reset button with stylus.
I have an old HTC ALPINE ( POCKET PC) A LEF IT FOR A LONG TIME AND TEN I FOUND THAT I FORGOT THE SYSTEM PASSWORD SO I CAN NOT EVEN RESTORE FACTORY SETTING FROM INSIDE AND I TRIED TO PRESS RESET + POWER IT IS ONLY DO RESTARTING AGAIN... WHAT SHALL I DO ....???

Today after trying to remove the lagfix from the MCR scripts program , the program crashed.
Which i then reboot the phone hoping to restart the program again but now the phone just stays at the boot screen for hours.
Does anyone know of a fix for this?
A factory reset will do
yeah i tried all methods both 3 button boot method and USB Debugging method simply couldn't get into the factory reset screen for me to choose it.
Unless there's a factory reset button that i can press?
What other way i can reset the phone?
Hey guys, I have a dead pixel on the screen and I'm going to have to send it back in for another one. But I've tried to do a factory reset like 5 times, whatever the reason.. android and root still remain on the device, has anyone ran into this problem before?
Have you done both the 8X reset and the 3 button data reset?
Power button, volume up and the N button must be held down at the same time.
I use to think the 3 button reset was the same thing as a reformat, they are not. To bring the device back to factory condition you have to first do the adb reset (or interrupt the boot 8 times) and then do the 3 button reset.
