was wondering on the icon beside the signal status, what's the H sign? sometimes it changes from H(white) or H(grey) or G(white) or G(Grey)
It shows the data connection status. I think a greyish icon means its not currently available.

Hello,
i had something strange on my diamond for a while now, the network band icon on the upper bar of the windows mobile changes all the time.
i wouldnt bother if it changes "E" to "H" of to "G" but for each it seems to have two icons, i.e: it sometimes shows the "E" icon with solid white background, and sometimes shows the "E" icon with gray partially transparent background.
is there any differences between the both "E"s?
btw this happens with the "H" as well, not sure about the "G"!

if the icons grey, normally u are unable to connect with the internet. i think the problem lies on o2. i live in austria and use t-mobile. 1 year ago i've got the same icons - and in the time where the icon were grayed i was unale to connect with the internet, but after 3 days everything was fine (automatically)...
which rom did u use?

Iam using the official Rom delivered with the phone!
btw i could connect in either case!
as the title suggests how come the 4g icon stays in the status bar. Even when not connected (Mobile data off)?
It always stays on.. on mine the lte icon is always on.. it doesn't mean its using it. just that you are in a 4g/4g lte/3g/2g area
so I am guessing when I move around it may go away?
Yeah, It stay on all the time indicating your in a 4G area. Little arched lines will radiate up from the top right of the 4G icon when you're using it.
Hallo,
a very useful Option in CyanogenMod 9.0.0RC2 for the Samsung Galaxy S is to show signal strength in dbm. However when I activate this option, I don't see anymore the status if it is 2G or 3G or HSDPA. Can the theme be changed so that both is shown? Or how is this possible? It would be also nice to have bigger arrows showing the data flow. In original Samsung firmware there are the arrows red and green, so that they can be easily seen.
Thanks for your help.
Hi when i 1st got my xperia z there was a icon on the top notification bar, can't remember what it was but i know it had 3 there for my network, but there isn't one any more, the phone is official 4.2.2 updated and rooted, there is no icon appearing for 3G/GSM etc is there anyway to turn these on....?
Which icon are you referring to, and what is the icon that you are seeing now?

What i get at the moment is the Signal strength icon which sometime has a Small H with it, I also get the Wif and Battery Icon but i don't get, EDGE, 3G, Sending and downloading 3G data, Sending and downloading EDGE data,
I get all other notification icons appearing like email etc, but no Status Icons for 3G or Edge.
I just wondered if they had been turned off somewhere..? But i can't find any options for them. I dunno if they are in the build prop like the NFC icon i set this to true and that now appears.
Network icons:
H or H+: you're connected to 3.5G / UMTS network.
3G: you're connected to 3G network.
E: you're connected to EDGE network.
Each icon will appear depends on what network you're connected to. And they will NOT appear when you're connected to wifi.
About the data upstream / downstream indicators, look for small upwards and downwards triangle under the network icons (of course when you're not connected to wifi).

So this morning i noticed on my way to work that my cell network icon has a "!" mark next to it, with no indication of the connection type (LTE, H ect). at first i thought it was because i had no internet connection for some reason, however, when i pull the notification shade down i see the icon for network connection has the connection type (says LTE) as well as the "!". So the notification shade had LTE and the ! while the status bar icon only had the "!". I confirmed that access to the internet was fine by checking websites and running speed tests. Anyone experience this issue?

I did as I posted in my other thread about this. Now if there is a way to put my Preferred Network Type back to "Global" instead of LTE (recommend) I switched it because I thought I had no internet either until it showed LTE on the notification shade too.
Looks like it was a problem with tmobile this morning, back to normal now
