Hello,
i had something strange on my diamond for a while now, the network band icon on the upper bar of the windows mobile changes all the time.
i wouldnt bother if it changes "E" to "H" of to "G" but for each it seems to have two icons, i.e: it sometimes shows the "E" icon with solid white background, and sometimes shows the "E" icon with gray partially transparent background.
is there any differences between the both "E"s?
btw this happens with the "H" as well, not sure about the "G"!

roaming is indicating by a triangle on the bar, plus i shouldn't be roaming on my network :S
I attached screen shots of both cases!
any clue?
if the icons grey, normally u are unable to connect with the internet. i think the problem lies on o2. i live in austria and use t-mobile. 1 year ago i've got the same icons - and in the time where the icon were grayed i was unale to connect with the internet, but after 3 days everything was fine (automatically)...
which rom did u use?

Help
from this morning my ornage diamond has started to display the H icon all the time does any one know why?????
Mine started doing it a couple of weeks back, maybe Orange has changed something, its handy to know when you have HSDPA reception without having to connect anyway.

Its connected when you have a little H (3G or G) above the signal bars.

Ok no probs cos i have the unlimited data plan from orange so should be fine.
My Fuze did this, too, and everyone thought it was odd. First phone I've used with HSPA so I didn't know what to expect, but any time I was in an HSPA zone it would have the H.

Only problem is that having your connection on all the time will cane your battery. I downloaded schaps advanced config and installed it to my Diamond...it gives you the option to specify when to disconnect your connection ie from one min to whatever you specify.
Also should you decide to flash to a custom rom, someones like Duttys then his rom gives you the option to specify how long the connection should stay alive.
Mine started doing it on Orange a couple of weeks ago as well - I think they've made some network changes as I also seem to occasionally get EDGE now as well when before it'd only ever be G/3G.
This is the big icon, not the 'connected' one
Hi when i 1st got my xperia z there was a icon on the top notification bar, can't remember what it was but i know it had 3 there for my network, but there isn't one any more, the phone is official 4.2.2 updated and rooted, there is no icon appearing for 3G/GSM etc is there anyway to turn these on....?
Which icon are you referring to, and what is the icon that you are seeing now?
See here for the list of the icons:

What i get at the moment is the Signal strength icon which sometime has a Small H with it, I also get the Wif and Battery Icon but i don't get, EDGE, 3G, Sending and downloading 3G data, Sending and downloading EDGE data,
I get all other notification icons appearing like email etc, but no Status Icons for 3G or Edge.
I just wondered if they had been turned off somewhere..? But i can't find any options for them. I dunno if they are in the build prop like the NFC icon i set this to true and that now appears.
Network icons:
H or H+: you're connected to 3.5G / UMTS network.
3G: you're connected to 3G network.
E: you're connected to EDGE network.
Each icon will appear depends on what network you're connected to. And they will NOT appear when you're connected to wifi.
About the data upstream / downstream indicators, look for small upwards and downwards triangle under the network icons (of course when you're not connected to wifi).

Before I take the time to wipe my phone and load the stock odin image on it, I wanted to check with other AT&T Note 3 users...
Are your signal bars (wifi or mobile) blue?
I know that in the past, blue bars are supposed to mean that you are communicating with the Google servers, but in my case, everything is working fine (sync, voice, email, etc.) but my signal bars are white/grey, so I was wanting to make sure if they were still supposed to be blue, or was this something new AT&T is doing for the Note 3.
I have NOT rooted or anything else. Phone is completely stock. The bars just never went blue during/after setup of the phone out of the box. I've tried with wifi off also, and have great signals. My LTE speeds are awesome. And like I said, everything seems to be working as it should, except for the blue signal bars showing up.
Yes, I have rebooted...airplane mode...different cities...etc. Still white bars.
If someone confirms that the bars should still be blue with the Note 3, then I am just going to wipe the phone and start over from scratch and see what happens when I setup the phone again.
Thanks.

I've had the S3, S4, and now Note 3 and all of the mobile signal bars have been white. The WiFi signal bars are white, but I have the in/out data indicators turned off, so I cannot comment on what color they are.

Thanks for the reply. That is interesting. My previous phones, and two other current ones being used in the family are all blue signal bars as soon as they connect to the Google Servers, so that is kind of what I was expecting to see happen on the Note 3.
I wish this one was showed blue. It lets me know that I have a good connection with Google, mainly just out of habit of expecting it now.
Does anyone know of an app that will show you the Google server connection status with a widget, in place of the blue signal bars?
So this morning i noticed on my way to work that my cell network icon has a "!" mark next to it, with no indication of the connection type (LTE, H ect). at first i thought it was because i had no internet connection for some reason, however, when i pull the notification shade down i see the icon for network connection has the connection type (says LTE) as well as the "!". So the notification shade had LTE and the ! while the status bar icon only had the "!". I confirmed that access to the internet was fine by checking websites and running speed tests. Anyone experience this issue?

I did as I posted in my other thread about this. Now if there is a way to put my Preferred Network Type back to "Global" instead of LTE (recommend) I switched it because I thought I had no internet either until it showed LTE on the notification shade too.
Looks like it was a problem with tmobile this morning, back to normal now

Anyway I can get my Preferred network thingy to show up as "Global" again? and not LTE (preferred)
Hello everyone, I just got this phone a few hours ago and theres something that bothers the hell outta me. My network signal shows both 4G/LTE icons making the signal go behind the notch, I have not found a solution yet for this issue.

Mine shows only one 4G not 2.
Like in the screenshots. Isn''t this your theme?
Got the default theme as soon as I turn down wifi it shows 4G LTE all together.
This is how it looks btw.
