i installed ce star and it works perfectly. i could read chinese in both the file explorer and the music tab. when i installed it i checked all the boxes and installed it on my storage. Remember to change your regional settings back to whatever country tho or else you will get chinese google everytime you use a web browser. hope this helps

Perhaps you can take a look at mobile01.com, someone posted a series of fix regarding your problem which include a new copies of wince.nls file. My Diamond2 also come with chinese installed, no such problem. My other phone (kaiser) with manila2D are able to display chinese in the music tab by installing the above mentioned fix.
I actually change the title/name in chinese with a id3tag editor. After it was able to read the characters correctly. Maybe was a fluke.
Maybe the ID3tag editor changed your ID3 format to v2.3 with UTF16 support that's why it's recognized by the music tab.
Is is possible to extract the Chinese Font and input method from the Official HKCSL_WWE ROM? (CSL is a phone company in Hong Kong)
I am using the Offcial HKCSL_WWE ROM on my Pure now but I would like to use some nicely customize ROM find here.
The only only problem is I need Chinese. I wish I can put the Chinese font and input method to some cooked ROM.
Thank you for any reply,
From my experience with it so far, not really. The input has not been successfully installed on top of any of the existing cooked roms.
You will have to cook your own rom using HK CSL CHT input. I have not seen any of the cooked roms on here providing the CHT input.
yup...probably like what you said..

Thanks every one

These are the cabs I use to get Chinese display on my Topaz. Seems to work fine with the new manila. First, I install the font cab, then without rebooting, install the NLS cab. Then reboot. Sometimes it takes 2 reboots to get working, but so far so good. These cabs only provide support for viewing Chinese, not typing it. You'll need to find something else for that. There are several input methods floating around on xda if u look.
Good Luck
i use ricky 6.5 chinese cab too. [tho i edit the cab and put another font in it, cuz the one ricky had was bold and i didnt want bold ^^;]
heres the procedure i use everytime i flashed a custom [energy] rom::
1. install TF3D2.Chinese.Taiwan_20090917_xmatrix.cab [by xkaiser] to convert most words to chinese. no need to reboot after install. n u will notice most things r displayed as squares now [install this if you want your manila to display in chinese, proceed to #2 if installed, if not installed, no need to do step 2]
2. IMPORTANT copy the files in smsfix.zip to \Windows root folder [this is because the language pack deleted the sms notification files, so if you dont add these files back, you will not receive any sound or vibrate when a new message comes in]
3. install RickyMSYH6.0Full__.cab follow the installation and soft reset when it asks to reset
4. install HTC Rhodium A4 IME V2.8 WVGA.cab [this is a chinese input that im currently using, it was designed for a touchpro2, so the keyboard is pretty much alike as the one we are using. tho... this one doesnt have handwritten input :[ ] this software is in simplifed chinese, but it works fine with typing traditional and hong kong characters
i dont know if installing these cabs will have any side affects though, i have no problem with it. been using them for awhile now, and they work with all the energy roms ive flashed [including the latest topaz 2011 build]
do it on your own risk :]
i zipped and uploaded the files i used

Thank you both. I wonder if the file(s) provided will work on the latest/newest Sense 2.5 (Manila 2.5.2011.30300) with Leo 2.54? Because the Ricky's MSYahei6 no longer work. In the meantime I do not need chinese input, only need the chinese display/support.
Anybody knows Ricky's website, please?

Thanks,

What everyone is saying is that even if you successfully extract the files, you couldn't install them into a cooked ROM. You would need to create your own ROM and add the chinese input when you cook it. I have tried some cabs in XDA that claim to let you use the htc chinese input and fonts, but they never worked for me. In fact they totally screwed up my phone and I had to hard reset.
That being said, you could (potentially) dump the rom you are using, then import it into a kitchen and cook your own custom ROM. There are lots of cooking tutorials on this site if you look around, but be prepared to invest considerable time and energy into the learning process. And to be honest, I think the other viewing and input methods listed in this thread are superior.
Just my 2 cents.

The display problem is very easy to fix. There are many fonts out there that work on Manila. If that's what is being looked for, I think some solutions have already been posted in this thread.
However, if you're trying to get the original HK CSL HTC CHT IME installed, then I am not aware of any solutions yet.

Actually, that is a good idea ^^. I'm going to try dumping and adding. I do have the extracted inputs.

hi can you try to reupload the files as i couldnt download
I have successfully installed this Chinese IME (official ezinput) on the NhatHoa ROM using 23529 and manila 2011 3030. I did first install Chinese fonts and a NLS cab... (u can look for my post earlier in the thread.)
Seems to be working fine so far. Better backup before you try it though. I have heard it cant be uninstalled very easily.

thanks for the heads up. now, after the install into a WWE ROM, will one still be able to input Chinese or English by switching the keyboard/input method or something?

Actually can use both English and Chinese directly with a keyboard button and also by changing sip... working great so far. Also both English and Chinese dictionaries seem to be working ok.

Hi, did you flashed this ROM (1.31...) ? If so what's the differences?
Im sorry but how do you flash this rom? *solved*
but the ROM doesnt seem to suit my Legend... failed to update
anyone has tried to upgrade with this ROM ? any changelog ?
no feedbacks ?
1.31.707.2_Radio_47.26.35.04_7.05.35.26L flashed
hi to all!
i bought 2 days ago a htc legend in vienna (austria) with a firmware
1.23.161.1 - it was a branded vodafone version - german!
SO after creating a GOLDCARD a flash this new 1.31.707.2 with SUCCESS
its not GERMAN, just english an some thai and some chinse language is possible to choose!
i restored all my progs with My Backup and its woking fine for ME!!!
whats new:
> its not branded -
the rest i will find out tomorrow
i have to sleep some hours before go to work!
what do you mean by : creating GOLDCARD ?
any french language inside ?
new rom is more stable, fast
hi to all!
i had to creat a GoldCard look modacos instruction:
http://android.modaco.com/content/general-discussion/305672/creating-a-goldcard/
BUT i had to change this LINE:
adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0:*/cid
i had to change the number 1 with 0
@ ilos
a GoldCard is needed to remove the CID lock --> to debrand a phone
because i bought a legend with a vodafone software, i was not able to flash the new ROM untill i unlock the CID with the GOLDCARD
GoldCard: is a modded microSC - card, wich has to be put in the legend while flashing the htc generic rom in my case!
@ ilos
after using the new rom for some hours:
i downloaded morelocale2 from market and set German (austria) and it worked!
here you could also choose french - it should work for you also!
BUT you also will need an alternative keyboard because after flashing the 1.31 you can just between chinse and thai input!
so i needed better keyboard and the language pack! to get a german input!
Ps.: i just tried to flash an other htc legend (not branded) with a generic htc firmware 1.21.450.1 --> i also needed the GOLDCARD to flash the new ROM!
so i think you will have to creat a goldcard also!
but i have to say better keyboard is beautiful!

to be hounest: the older firmware was also OK for me, just the small branding from vodafone annoying;
BUT how cares its newer - so it has to be better - ...
most of the user think like that, me too ...
many thanks for this usefull feedback
Strange...
I bought my Legend here in Taiwan and have already the latest build onboard which seems not reported yet... ?
Build 1.31.709.2
Baseband 47.26.35.04U_7.05.35.26L
FYI, Layar is directly downloadable , and plenty of .apk obviously installable without root. don't ask how why and where. just search.

About the asian ROM:
Does MoreLocale2 change ALL of the texts in every menu? I tried it once, but didn't change the Sense's Settings menu, etc.
And do you have to download another keyboard, there is no english keyboard in default?
hi all,
i have 2 questions:-
1. mine d2 was original 6.1 english and i upgrade it to 6.5 english on last nov. from htc site. for some reason i want to change it back to official chinese (since my friend's d2 is chinese so i can have his serial number to download from htc site). is this possible? what i mean is other than the rom is different between chinese and english but the rest of everything in d2 is same?
2. if it is possible. then in case error occur during the process to change to chinese rom, can i flash (call this progress "flash" i guess) back to the english?
any reply would be appreciated.
lookgod88
It is possible to flash a different rom than the original one. Once you download appropriate file from htc website using Chinese TD2 serial, you will have to unlock you Topaz using hard-spl. Otherwise you'll get an error message during flashing (no other consequences, you'll still have your "old" rom). You can find more about flashing a new rom in the forum section dedicated to rom developement. Good luck!
