Show keyboard in landscape mode by default? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

By default the keyboard is shown in portrait mode. When i switch to landscape, the keyboard disappears . (Tried with standard HTC-keyboard and FingerKeyboard)
Any solutions? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, click in the text box and the keyboard will pop up again.

Yes, i know that. Thanks
The point is the behavior by default. I want the keyboard shown by default without clicking anywhere.

sorry, went to the screen control panel and selected "portrait" from the options... weird that it would revert to landscape like that though. after i selected portrait, it functions properly (so far) when the keyboard slides out

default to landscape

Is there a way to have Internet Explorer's default view to landscape? I like using my stylus for navigation but I don't like having my keyboard open unless Im typing.

If you have HTCHome installed, just switch to landscape mode before opening IE and switch it back when you're done.
install dinarsoft handyLauncher. In it, you've the option to start any app in the desired orientation

Landscape issues with Windows Mobile 6.1

There seem to be issues with Windows Mobile 6.1 and Landscape.
If you switch the display to landscape, and reboot the phone, it will change back to portrait.
If you press the missed calls button in HTC Home while in landscape, it will switch back to portrait.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Alright, I fixed the missed calls issue with a new dialer, but the phone still consistantly boots into Portrait.
i'm not too sure but i would assume u have a kaiser...and when u say it boots into portrait i assume its a soft reset or a power on...and i assume that when you're in landscape mode u have the hardware keyboard slid out...if it boots to portrait...cant u just slide in n out the keyboard to have it go back to landscape?
Sure, when I slide out the keyboard, it goes into landscape. However, when I close it again, it goes back into portrait.
If, after the phone has booted, I go into Screen options and change it back to Landscape, it will stay in landscape regardless of what I do.
When I soft-reset, it goes back into portrait. If they keyboard is open, it will start in portrait, then shift into landscape. Upon closing the keyboard, it's back to portrait.
This is the default behavior for HTC devices. My Wizard did this just like my Tilt. I would suspect the cause is because when you slide out the hardware keyboard, a sensor activates a service running in the WM subsystem that tells WM to rotate the screen.
However, if you actually go into the screen options and change the default screen orientation to landscape, the registry is updated to reflect landscape as the new default orientation.

So yeah, done that.
Windows Mobile 6.0 did not have this problem. If you set it to Landscape in screen options, and rebooted, it would stay in landscape. This issue with it always booting in portrait is new in 6.1.
Same problem here.. anybody found any solution? Thanks.

Keyboard view problem - FIXED

Since I installed DiamondTweak (source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409540 )
When I open my keyboard in any text edit fields( opera add bookmark field, registry editor fields, etc. EXCEPT in sms it works just fine ), and it switches to landscape mode, I can't see the texts that are present in the boxes.
Example: When in normal mode: I would see RegistryYey with a value 2
but in landsacape mode i only see is < blanks
Any ideas??

Change Windows
Really, this is well-known issue, but no solution yet...
Change Windows? Change OS? LOL
Oh alryt thanks anyway I hope someone could find it!
landscape cleartype bug....
they still havn't fixed this yet??? how could HTC release a phone with so many bugs that existed in some of the previous roms??
FIXED, I just removed the "Clear Type" fonts!
What do you mean? Did you turn off ClearType in landscape mode?
Well, it fixes text display in landscape, but i meant that nobody managed to get ClearType working in landscape. Without ClearType the text is readable, but looks ugly.

Opera Mobile 9.5 landscape soft keyboard pop-up

does anyone know of a way to disable the annoying soft keyboard popup when you are in landscape mode and have the hard keyboard out? i saw an old thread about this but wondered if any concrete solution had been found for the Raphael.
thanks!
take a look at blownfuze.org (pass/user xda/xda).
there is a nullkeyboard.
install it and select as input method, that should fix the problem
Thanks for the response... that does work; however, it isn't exactly a "smart" solution because the setting doesn't rely on the current mode (portrait versus landscape), so when you close the keyboard and switch to portrait, it does not switch out the null keyboard for a working keyboard.
not that I do a lot of typing in the portrait mode...but would be nice to have both options
thanks anyway (and I'm using that for now)
