Are you saying that you got the "stock rom start menu" or just lost the option called "QuickMenu" in which you will find options like Screen, SIP, bluetooth, etc in ttrans custom rom? I had the same problem but after few days and soft resets it appeared on its own. anyway make sure that "QuickMenu.lnk" which is a shortcut file which brings the custom start menu is available in the folder "\Windows\StartUp\" and if not copy from "\Windows" and paste in start up folder. Use total commander or some other file explorer to do the same. let me know the result
that did it
thanks spk_xda!
i copied and pasted and now i'm back up and running the good quick/start menu. i appreciate the fast help.

You know what, now I lost the start menu lol... even though the lnk file is available in "\windows\startup" folder its not coming back and I got the stock rom start menu. lets see what happens after few days...
I had the same problem except the link for the quickmenu is in the start up folder already. It occured after doing the initial settings changes the second time I flashed it with Open Touch v4.0. The first time it worked for a little bit but I guess I changed some setting that doesn't allow it to start up. I can click the link or program and it will load once but it defaults to the Orig. start menu after that... Am I the first with this specific issue?

No, you are not the only one having this issue. As I stated above, I still have the problem and the quick menu doesnt comes even after many soft resets. I even tried to move the .lnk file from startup folder and reset and then moved it back and reset, but no way... it just doesnt work...
I'm having some trouble with a shortcut on the Start Menu. I had a link to Resco File Explorer which worked fine, but then stopped working following an upgrade of the application (I suspect the upgrade process removed it some one storage area and stuck the new version in the other, or something like that). Clicking the shortcut now does nothing.
I also had it linked on the TF3D Programs Tab. This I've managed to remove and re-add using the normal interface and now works fine. However if I go to edit the start menu I can see TWO entries for Resco File Explorer - one that is ticked with a duff icon, and one which isn't but with the correct icon. By problem is that if I try and untick the duff one it errors "Cannot move that item".
Any ideas??
uninstall and reinstall. if you have an older version and upgrade, try downloading the upgraded cab and install that.
In File Explorer, go to My Device > Windows> Start Menu. Tap and hold on the inoperable shortcut and select "delete"

Brand new phone, unlocked and unbranded. Came on the 'new' JM1. I've rooted it using the One Click Root.
Firstly, I am now trying to install the update.zip for the battery circle mod but for some reason the VolUp + Home + Power combo doesn't work. I press it all together then let go once the first boot screen pops up. What have I done wrong?
Secondly, I am also trying to backup my framework-res.apk. I understand this is in /system/framework/framework-res.apk, but my 'My Files' application can't seem to access this, even with hidden files shown. What am I missing?
Thanks.
Hello, you seem to be missing alot, and to be totally honest if i was you i would research ALOT more before attempting this mod, im dubious about this to say the least because of the many variants.
1. the combo will work, your just letting go too early, hold them all down until your in the Recovery Mode. I read somewhere, when the SGS logo pops up to release the power button for a split second and then hold it again. Dont know if theres any method in this but whereas before i had a few fails i get in everytime now.
2. even though you have rooted your device, 'My Files' has its root set to /sdcard/ so you wont be able to see the root using this app anyway. download Root Explorer from the market.
Again you must read more into what your doing before installing a random update that you dont know what it contains, if i was you id make it myself using your own framework-res.
To do this you can use APK Manager to decompile the package, then copy the original graphics and xml into the correct drawable folders, recompile it, open in winrar and copy the META folder, then you should be good
Alternately for backing up your framework-res you can open CMD and type
adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk
a yea you need the android SDK installed for the above ^
hope this helped

This worked, thanks!
The update.zip I was installing was only for the battery circle mod and nothing else.
Thanks a lot for your advice too, I usually ask a lot of questions on IRC if I'm unsure about what I'm doing.
Imagio Energy Rom GTX theme
I was trying to see what the menu layouts look like, changed to a few then chose windows layout and damn.
Please help I really don't want to flash my phone plus I can't access anything to save contacts messages etc.
When I attempt to start the start menu I see "start" on the top left but no menu.
I'm running the original windows layout
Try to conect your phone to pc and go windows/start menu and try to repair the links.
If you you want to save your contacts and messages go to root directory and copy the pim file to PC and then "hard reset" your phone.
I hope this will help.
I'll donate $5 (paypal) to anyone who helps me through this

how do I exactly go on about repairing links
I can't access root directory neither..
the start menu responds but doesn't show on screen
maybe if someone can take some screen shots of the steps, i can blindly change the layout
OR IS THERE ANYWAY TO FORCE SENSE INSTEAD OF WINDOWS
No donation needed to solve this problem.
Another way is to conect your pc via usb and then you will be able to access the /windows/start menu. There you will access the program links and you must try to corect them....
again via usb conection you find on the root of your divice the file pim.vol take a copy of it to your pc because this file is contacts, tasks e.g. and after that make hard reset of your device.... Follow this guide.
""If a soft reset doesn’t solve problems with the HTC Imagio phone, you can perform a hard reset. This will wipe all data off the phone and restore factory default settings.
While the phone is off, press and hold Volume Down + Talk/Send + End/Power.
When the device displays a message about wiping the data, release all 3 buttons.
Press Volume Up to complete the hard reset.""
If you continue to have problem PM me to give you more help via MSN or Skype.
Right... I need to put a file on my internal SD card..
Can someone please tell me how to access the Internal SD card? Thank you!
Connect your phone via USB then select to connect as an internal storage.
Or if it want Kies go to options, and chnge setting there.
If you are not rooted, open My Files or Astro and you are in the internal SD card. Drop the file in a folder if you need to or just loose.
If you are rooted, open Root Explorer and open the sdcard directory. Then do the same as above

Lol, ok first off go to settings/wireless and network/usb settings and select mass storage. Then on your PC go to my computer, connect the phone via USB, on your phone you'll see a green android and a button under it that says "Connect storage to PC", tap it and the android turns orange, you're now connected. Open up the phone's internal SD in "my computer" when it's displayed.
Copy your file to the phone and when your done tap the "Disconnect storage from PC" button, the android will turn green again, hit the back button on your phone and unplug from your PC. All done.
Okay - But I need to put an update.zip file onto my phone. Which folder does it go into?

In the internal SD root directory. That is not in a sub folder...just in /sdcard.

Just put it into the SD card as is, don't open any folders, if you have file extensions set to hidden on your PC it should just be "update", if there are files on your PC with extensions, such as .exe or .jpeg etc then it will be called "update.zip", the same applies to when it's on your SD, it should only end in .zip if everything else has an extension too.
What are you planning to flash? And do you know how to do it?
It helps if you give people an idea of what you're trying to do when you ask for assistance.

I'm really sorry for not being specific.
Basically, I'm waiting for my phone which should be back tomorrow, so I can flash this theme:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037176
Marcus gave me a link to ROMKitchen and I cooked up my own rom!
I read the instructions, telling me to flash stock JVB which I have downloaded, a custom kernel which I have also downloaded and I have received instructions from Marcus telling me to install the theme via clockworkmod.
I'd really, really appreciate me if you gave me a step by step guide on how to install it

You want to know how to flash the theme with CWM right?
Ok, do you know how to get into recovery mode?
Hold Volume up + Home + Power button all at the same time, as soon as the black and white Samsung screen appears let go of the Power button while still holding Volume up + Home. Keep holding until recovery screen appears.
See the pic attached.
Use the Volume buttons to scroll up and down through the available options, and the Power button to select the one you want.
First thing you want to do is select the Backup and Restore option.
Make a Backup before you go any further.
Once the Backup is complete scroll to Install zip from sdcard, press the power button, you will be asked if you are sure you want to Install the update, scroll down a bit to confirm that you want to install and press the Power button again. The update will begin installing, once it's done you'll need to choose the reboot option, do so by using the Power button.
Your theme should now be installed.
I read through some of the thread in the link you posted, seems like some people had problems with it, so if your phone starts acting funny ask Marcus or some of the guys who had issues and resolved them, they will be in a much better position to guide you step by step if it causes problems.
Best thing you could do is to read up on flashing, roms, and kernels before trying them, there's a wealth of info already posted here, patience and research are better than a bricked phone.
Hope that helps and good luck
