Hello. I want to upgrade my phones ROM because I have and old one from the beginning. My ROM version is 1.19.61.1
So I want to upgrade to new one but I'm confused because there is a very big choice of ROM's here and I do not want to choose poorly
To which ROM you recommend me to update?
Which ROMs are with best performance, least bugs and best features?
First I was very interested in Dutty's V3.7 XT Final but then I also saw that there is lot of wm 6.5 ROMs. Does my phone will have same performance with 6.5 wm version or slower?
Thank You!

I have found I want to experiment lots.
I have experimented with Onkolog, LIA which I had issues with, particularly around customising the phone with themes etc.
Between the big 3, Davideuck, Dutty and Miri, my choice is Miri 6.5 V16.
You may find you want to experiment too.
I personally prefer Manila TF3D over 6.5 Titanium and I don't care at all for SPB Mb Shell 3. I haven't tried PointUI but I am pretty sure I would still prefer Manila.
I suggest you go for it and experiment lots.
You can't go wrong with the big 3.
try ones 6.5 but prefered 6.1
6.5 more stable what they claim
try every ROM the best answer
good luck...
I personally prefer miri's wm6.5 v16 for now.because it's beautiful and stable.
Miri's WM6.5 series ROMs are the best!
I have tried out Dutty, MaryOne, taisee and Miri, and finally stayed on miri's ROMs, among which I have flasehd v9.1, 10, 11,12,13,15,16,16.1.
I have several thousand contacts and Calendar data since 2002 on my phone. Only Miris' ROM works with my data so smoothly and fast.
just a question..
Regardless of which ROM you flash, the flashing method is the same right? I've once flashed using USPL for Dutty ROM. If I were to flash now from Dutty ROM to let's say Miri v6.5 ROM, can I use USPL method again directly?
Thanks.
i feel your thread will be banned...
anyways i am happy to recommend you the Topix 2.1, i used many version of dutty but eventually topix is much more fast and stable. i am still expecting dutty's better wm6.5, i still believe in dutty
test and choose
it depends a lot your usage and your priorities.
for me, the are a lot of great cooker doing stablerom: miri, kwbr, duttythroy, pdaviet,laurentius,...
I've not tested all so I'm not saying that these are the only ones.
As my priority is the speed an fluidity of the phone i help on bench marking rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=516190
and based on these results damn small topix is the fastest one.
it's also very stable.
As you can see in the bench result, 6.5 roms are slower but usually they use less ram.
again, all this is my priority.
the best is try some then decide.

Where do you see that? I don't think that the newer versions of 6.5 "slower" than 6.1.

If you use often Internet on your phone, i recomend you Laurentius L26 2.3 (WIndows Mobile 6.1): this rom provide the best mobile navigation experience with awesome version of Opera tweaked by Laurentius and with a usefull zoomslider.
Also L26 is stable, clomplete of most rilevant applications, strongly optimized and with a confortable and pretty upper menu with battery icon that show exact state of the battery...this is very useful for me.
i liked onkolog's rom if youre looking for speed + lots of free memory and battery life
If you use outlook and associated programs a lot, WM 6.5 is a lot better.
On WM 6.5 Apps can use close to 64M if your drivers and related DLLs are all in the 61 and 60 slots.
Regarding the benchmarks - I would say that a lot of what is importan about performance w.r.t. the end user experience is difficult to measure
: i.e. random stalls and a lack of responsivenes, larency when switching between aps or when touching the screen, and general smoothness of presentation.
These types of threads never get anywhere. Try some ROM's yourself and choose. Everyone taste are different.
I've used a couple recent Dutty roms and they were great, but now I'm using the fantastic Topix 2.1 rom and I love it. Bug free, stable, fast, and no annoying sms problems.
I've tried a couple different Winmo 6.5 roms and I'm not a big fan of it as it is right now. Winmo 6.5 titanium interface doesn't provide me with ease of use as TF3D does. There is no awesome music player or anything of the sort on titanium, just the same ol crappy Windows Media Player.
I find myself using TF3D even when I have a Winmo6.5 rom so I fail to see the point. The 6.5 notifications overwriting the TF3D ones, app incompatibility, etc, just makes it more annoying for me to use.
I'm gonna wait until 6.5 is more well established...or just wait for 7 =D
If you like TF3D i recommend you keep using WM6.1 ROM's... It just doesn't integrate very well with the new WM6.5 style menu's. It is possible though, but since TF3D replaces a lot of WM6.5's functions the advantage isn't that great. It is however the safest choice if you would like to try out WM6.5, but don't know yet if you want to abandon TF3D.
Personally I'm a big fan of WM6.5, and I don´t use TF3D at all anymore. The new titanium interface is sleek and stylish, and with some plugins from the XDA forums (search for 'CHome' + wat you need) I have all the functionality I need (without out the hassle and memory consumption of TF3D).
As said before by other people, you have to chose yourself. Read allot on the different ROM's, about there features, memory, WM6.1 / WM 6.5, addons / customizations, etc.
After this you'll probably have 2 or 3 ROM's you'll want to try: Do so. Flash these ROM's and you'll know exactly what you like and don't like. This is the only way of finding out if the ROM has and does what you want it to.
So stop reading this thread and do some research Good luck!
For me?? MIRI THE BEST!
Its up to individual.. Try playing with the few roms and u roughly know which you like.

i have become a proud hd user as of yesterday and have spent all the night to reading various wikis, tips etc.
please forgive me if i am asking you for your opinion as to your experience with your 6.5 roms. certainly, i could read another 300 pages of different 6.5 rom threads but can't keep my eyes open.
this questions goes to those who have already flashed two or three different 6.5 roms.
which of those would you recommend in terms of speed and stability?
thanks a lot for your help.
I'm also after some similar info. I'm got Duttys v3.0 flashed at the moment
and it's working great but feel really tempted to try out Win Mo 6.5
Miri's version seems to be the most popular at the moment but I also want to
know how reliable and stable these 6.5 ROM's are compared to something like
Dutty's 3.0 ROM
personally i love duttys V3, i tried miri's 6.5 and didn't like it that much... so i'll probably wait until dutty releases his first 6.5 rom which i hope he will be working on soon
I´m working with different wm 6.5 roms for a few months now and I think at the moment the miri v8.1 (with SLP1.54) is the best especially with the new spb mobile shell 3!

What I want to know is, how buggy are these 6.5 ROM's?
Is Miri's 6.5 stable enought to use on a daily basis?
If u have SPL 1.54 then the best is Miri's at the moment but if u have 1.14 then try david's as well.... Not bad in my opinion. and yes u can use them on daily basis but Miri's ROM has got some issues with the alarm. Also I dont like the fact that Miri doesn't put even a single ringtone. I'd like some nice ringtones to choose from rather than trimming mp3s.

As a regular flasher IMHO WM 6.5 is still not completly bug free and fast enough for everyday use especially the context menu still not fast enough for my liking even on the latest builds also I think manila tf3d is still not fully compatible with wm 6.5 so has an overall performance impact on wm 6.5 without it wm 6.5 runs a lot better! I would personaly wait for HTC to release a shipped wm 6.5 device i.e. touch pro 2 aka rhodium then have the chef's base rom off that then we'r talking business!
However if you want try then you can't go wrong with miri wm 6.5 roms, davidueck v7 or karmba's!

Thanks for your input guys. I think I'm going to lay off WinMo 6.5 then as I want my device to be as fast and stable as possible for everyday use.
Will stick to Dutty's v3.0 until he releases an update or realses his version of
WinMo 6.5
Surprisingly there is no mention of onkologs wm6.5
THis is the most stable and fastest...
Not a single person using his rom has issues...
The only downside is that you have to install applications that you need as a cab

Ooops! I forgot to mention his roms yes onkologs wm6.5 are stable still some minor issues with manila without it his rom's are great!! however in terms of issues it depends on the user for me I have yet to come across wm 6.5 rom thats completely bug free for my everyday use I tend to intsall a lot of apps so yes these 3rd party apps may not be completely compatible with wm 6.5 but I cannot live without them so for now I'll stick wm 6.1 until the next build is released by M$ and give that a go
I've also been thinking of getting the miri 6.5 ROM but had a couple of doubts even after trying to read a lot about how to flash:
1. I'm still on stock ROM SPL 1.14, so am i supposed to install HSPL or USPL or just the miri ROM and how??
2. Read the article- [TUT]Dummies guide for flashing 1.56 roms; but got even more confused (seems i'm dummer than the "Dummies" :-D)
3. Can i get back to my stock ROM ever...? Again how??
4. Does miri 6.5 v8.1 ROM has the TF3D from Diamond2 also??
It would be great help if someone could answer my noob questions. I'm really looking forward to flashing my HD with a 6.5 ROM.
Hi,
Don't forget about PhamQuang ROMs. They are qualities and well thought out. Stable and fast too.
Try out the last one ver. 24
Enjoy

Totaly OK with that, the onkologs wm6.5 is the also the best for me!
A++
Having tried both Miri's latest 6.5 andd Dutty's 3.0 I have to say that I find Miri's rom both faster and more stable.
The topaz/rhodium ROMs seem far more buggy to me than the manila-less versions of the 6.5 ROMs using the latest builds. Not to mention that the battery drain using Dutty's ROM is insane compared to Miri's v 8.1 standard.

Hey guys !
About Win 6.5 and SPB Mobile Shell.
Can you explain us a bit what you mean?
Can we keep titanium as running with Mobile Shell? But what is really intersting in this? What does Titanium have than Mobile Shell doesn't? And which customization must we use with titanium to be 100 % happy as you are meaning ?
THank you!
I think onkolog's roms are still the most stable one.
i have tried karmba 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, miri 7.0, 8.0, 8.1
finally using miri 8.1, so far ... ok
Miri's 8.1 rom is really very good after comparing with duty's last rom i understood that miri's rom hardly reached to 43% while duty's and most of the other roms easily reaches beyond 50%
I'm a new Xperia user. I have it for 3 days now and basically what i've been doing these 3 days was studying this awesome xda-developers forum and learning everything about flashing, roms, etc..
I've been determined to upgrade my default WM6.1 to WM6.5. After first day of reading this forum i knew it's not gonna be simple, but stubborn as i am, i managed to get tha hang of it and did everything to flash my X1 with cooked rom. But then came the real dilemma: which rom should i use?? I've been looking for some forum topics to help me decide, but i found out that the only right way to do this is check every ROM individually, read about it first and if it looked good (feedback from users, collection of included apps, gadgets, etc), flash it to my X1.
By now i've flashed 6 ROMS and to be honest, i didn't like not even one of them. And this got me thinking: why would i need to upgrade to 6.5? Neither of rom worked faster than my default 6.1, all of them have this 'unfit' feeling (like when you see it you know it wasn't made for your phone) and all of them are buggy (some more, some less)..
So i'm asking YOU, the happy user for whichever WM6.5 rom:
- Why did you upgrade WM61? What's so much better with WM65?
- Is WM65 really so much better than 61? What are the bigges advantages?
- Which ROM are you using? And which cooked ROM(s) are your favorite?
I know this has probably already been ansvered, but is there any information about official WM65 upgrade for Xperia?
Lastly let me say this post is NOT a criticism of 'cookers' or this forum in general. I would just like to hear some of your opinions to decide which OS i want on my phone.. i really can't decide at the moment, so.. thank you in advance.
greets..
Well there is a bias toward the wm6.5 roms, just because its the latest and and more finger friendly. This is after all xda DEVELOPERS site, so its not meant to be 100%, but from my flashing's its pretty darn close... GO Chefs!!!
But I as well wouldn't mind seeing some wm6.1 roms based on R3 with the latest apps and extras, but I see few to none like this.
But like the saying goes beggars cant be choosers. So i take what these very generous chefs cook up
I'd use Valkyrie Xperio 3.9 + SPB Mobile Shell, or if you want Manila use Valkyrie Leo.
If you don't like those, then use a 6.1 rom like TouchX or Jack's v3.
It takes less time to try them than to get a bunch of people's feedback and then try them anyways.
Hi! Welcome to the forum!
I must admit I had a similar dilemma when I first flashed my X1. I find I keep going back to Smaberg's Touch X 10.1. It's a 6.1 ROM with manila (TouchFlo) 2.1 and it is fast, smooth, stable and fully functional. There is a new version with weather on the home tab (10.7), but there are still a few small issues which need to be ironed out before it is as stable and usable as 10.1.
For testing out 6.5 I love the Valkyrie ROMs by Agent_47. They are usually very well set up (with a good selection of apps and performance tweaks) and bugs are found and fixed quickly. My favourites are the Topaz/Rhodium versions since there is almost as much eye candy as the Leo roms, but less bugs / missing functionality (landscape works in manila, for instance) and they usually run a bit faster. If you want to try just a basic 6.5 rom without TouchFlo, I recommend Experio. You can install SPB mobile shell on it, too. If you want to go the full eye candy route, the Leo ROMs are nice and Rotastrain's ROM is worth trying.
The advantage of 6.5 is that it is more finger-friendly than 6.1 and there are a few usability improvements. One thing I personally don't like, though, is the volume control with the latest 6.5 builds. So far the cookers haven't been able to work around it. Also, it runs slower and since most builds are still beta there are bugs, but they are getting better.
There are a few 6.1 ROMs out now with Leo manila (touchflo 2.5) but there seem to be a lot of dependencies and it's not easy to get them to play nicely together. They give a good blend of speed and eye candy, but I find the clunkiness of the underlying 6.1 clashes with the looks of touchflo 2.5.
Hope I haven't made things more complicated! Have fun flashing and enjoy your X1!
-Oobly
Hi all,
First post here so hope I haven't put it in the wrong place... I'm bored of the standard software on the HTC TOUCH HD after having it for a month so im looking for something a bit jazzy and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of the best option for myself! It must meet the following criteria...
1) not drain the battery
2) not lag / be nice and fast
3) be able to run other apps nicely. in particular the tomtom navigator software that I've got.
4) not just be straight wm6.5 !
any suggestions? thanks in advance

topix in my opinion, but i do not like such threads.
For me is NRG 6.5 ROM from 17 Octomber with Manila Sense 2.1
Bugs free, very smooth and fast ROM, don`t dry my battery and all is almost perfect
[ROM][WWE][2/11/09] XannyTechROM GRID LEO 2.0 (Leo 1.43) (21872/23081)
I thing.......
topix without the slightest doubt
kwbr Topix 3.0.2
Runs excellent and fast
Tuurtje
Topix and Dutty the holy grail
I've tested a fairly large amount of roms, including Miri's (6.1 and 6.5), Dutty's (6.1 and 6.5), Laurentius, Xanytech's, etc... But I always find myself going back to a Topix rom.
In my opinion, Topix roms are unmatched in terms of simplicity, stability and speed.
I haven't tried the latest 6.5.1 roms though, they seem to be promising.
I think Miri's Xtralight 21872.The Fastest of all 6.5s
Hellonasty's MaryOne x00.4 is pretty fast and stable in my opinion..
Just my opinion.
WM 6.1: kwbr Topix 3.***
WM 6.5: XannyTechROM GRID LEO 2.0
I prefer 6.1 ROMs, but 6.5 are better with "switching" between UMTS and GPRS.
Closed this "which ROM is best thread".
Every user has his own perception of what makes a ROM good.
Every user has specific usage for his/her device, what one person would value an other would hate.
Even "best working" is kinda subjective, someone who eg. doesn't use MMS, doesn't value a perfect functioning MMS, another user could value a perfect working bleutooth stock, while an other never uses bleutooth, etc etc..
Lots of people, lots of tastes.
Best way to find the best working ROM for your purposes is in flashing and testing.
There is no way around that.
Regards,
EqX
Hi, I decided to open this thread since I'm a bit disspointed with the new WM 6.5 and 6.5.1 ROMs for the Diamond and I would like to hear your pros and cons
As we know, there's not WM 6.5 official version for the HTC Diamond, that is a shame because the phone is not old!
Thanks to all of this programmers or "cookers" on this website we are able to run it, since is our wish, but we are warned of the downsides.
I flashed all the ROMs available, WM 6.1, 6.5 and 6.5.1 ...to be honest... 6.1 is well stable and fast, 6.5 looks nice and is amazing but is laggy and at the end of they day it always end up closing the program you are using if it runs out of memory, that is annoying if you are watching a video on youtube or checking the email right?
I used 6.5 for a month and I was really into it beause "it works", but with regret I went back to 6.1 due to the lack of memory and optimization for the device.
What is your experience so far with it?
Normally I much prefer official ROMs to cooked, which can be slow and unreliable. But I do want WM6.5. Maybe it's a matter of finding the right ROM.
Is there one available now (WM6.5, stable, bug free, not bloated) or should I wait? (This is something that will only be done once if at all.)
You can wait for a while, or flash all the available 6.5 ROMs and judge by yourself (I can't be bothered with the MTTY thing)
Personally, at the moment any of them don't perform quick and stable like 6.1 do
you might want to run benchmark tests
all benchmarking i did shown an increasse in performance in wm6.5.1 cooked roms in diamonds compared to stock rom.
cooked a rom and wm6.5.1 is better than 6.1 in terms of memory management and speed.
just cook your own rom and put in/remove stuff you dont like and optimize it.
Try these! (I did...) =)
Long have I've been a pro 6.1 user, but I always thought 6.5 looked more neat but with too many conn's to be actually everyday useable. Besides, AZTOR x2 ROM rocked! Also a lot of 6.5 ROM's didn't have any Diamond functionality.
Lately I've been trying 6.5.x ROM's again and currently I'm very pleased with Benko's ROM. It takes only 80Mb RAM max (Full ROM). He cooked lighter versions too, that even take less RAM. Also the ROM is fast, like really REALLY FAST, great responsiveness. Scrolling like the iPhone. Also very finger friendly.
I think if you want to consider 6.5 ROM's Benko is definitely a good candidate. I would recommend his 5.0 ROM to start with because I believe that's the most stable ROM.
Eugenia V1.02 WWE ROM is also a nice looking ROM with diamond features
the new 6.5.1 roms are much faster for me
I have tested far too many 6.5 roms i dont understand the complete halt of the development of 6.1 ROMS. there seems to be a lot of confusion going on here:
-ALL 6.5.x roms run noticeably slower and jerkier than 6.1 roms.
-some have decent stability but the majority suffer from SOD bug. generally speaking 6.1 cooked ROMs are just more stable.
-ALL have worse battery life than 6.1 roms
-TF3D simply runs smoother on 6.1 roms (~30frames Per Second VS. ~15-20 FPS)
before flaming me go ahead and try flashing ROMs like touchX, PcTech4U, you'd halve to be blind not to notice that todays newer better-looking 6.5.5 ROMs are actully a clear step below what we used to have with 6.1 ROMs last year
bottom line: if you care about battery, speed and stability, forget about 6.5. it feels a lot like a proof of concept on our Xperia

* i can't say ALL 6.5 is "jerker" .. user interface was enhanced .. "finger" friendly (which is important for a touchscreen unit)
* i didn't also experienced SOD with all the cooked roms that i've tried in 6.5 (following what is indicated in every post by the chef or the developer helps alot) and maybe.. just maybe another factor is the 3rd party apps installed by the user
* yes some cooked roms are hungry for battery ](but not for what i use now) and i think it also depends on the user.. if uses it heavily or moderate..
* TF3D is good! and i agree with that and i will not be the villain in your post but.. users of this unit will find the exact rom or cook the exact rom for them.. that will fit to their everyday use.. not because "it is fast and more stable".. instead of asking them.. be thankful that some, i mean alot of people now do such things to improve this "king of the hill" xperia one and if for you alone, you are already contented of the roms that you've mentioned.. instead of making this post or calling 6.5 a "jerker" (i can't help but laugh) .. help others who is looking for 6.1 cooked roms.. suggest and spread the news..
peaceout!

Yes but how many wm6.1 have manila 2.5?? Much more needed ...
In my opinion 6.1 is done.
6.5 is only marginally better.
7 had my attention until I read some post by Doministry linking me to info that multi-tasking on 7 would be an issue.
I'm headed to Android next.
X10.
6.1 is definitely faster in general case. But one important characteristic of 6.5 make me never look back on 6.1. It's provide more virtual memory (don't be confuse with available memory with Settings > memory) by opening up slot 60,61 with 6.5 nk and compatible kitchen.

I have to agree, the 6.1 just works better if you use the phone a lot on the X1.
Which rom do you use with 6.1, I have found that this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561555 is the best for me so far, but I would like to try something else until the latest update comes out...

Hello All,
I agree that we are less and less having 6.1 ROM, but let's not give a bad impression of WM 6.5.
I found WM 6.5 to be very good without manila. very quick and responsive.
Do we have other implementation of WM6.1 with Manila 2.5, apart from evilash_leo ? please direct me.
i tried searching, didnt come across ...
I have been using the VERY stable and smooth Touch X 10.9.1 (WM6.1/Manila 2.1.19202517) NUTS for some 3-4 months lately (WM 6.1 w/M2.1), after having been trying WM6.5 with manila 2.1/2.5
i personally felt WM6.1 is definitely smoother, coz i dont like lags when going thru contacts, dialpad, or sms keyboard-response.
I would nonetheless want the Manila 2.5, though, due to the tighter integration with social networking.
Nice thread. but let's not take things personal and just discuss
Regards,
Nitish/.
as said earlier.. WinMo 6.5 alone is fast.
WinMo 6.5 with Manila 2.1/2.5 make is a bit slower on Xperia Hardware. (u all might have noticed it)
WinMo 6.1 with Manila 2.1/2.5 is having good speed in Xperia hardware. (eg. TouchX 10.9.1 or latest Evilash Leo Manila 2.5)
If you want WM6.5 with speed (and all manila stuff) why not change to HD2.
In Xperia - WM6.1 with/without manila rocks
Just my experience. Thanks!
PEACE

thanks i missed that one ... gonna dl and try ..
unfortunately i have to agree with most of the people here. 6.5 is <<< 6.1 on the Xperia.
I would really love to see some of the big chefs here like agent, NRG, itje...etc cook a 6.1 ROM. i think they will be pleasantly surprised with how much faster and smoother their rom will be.
i would recomend that everyone (especially cookers)gives evilash rom (6.1 w\ manilla 2.5) a try
