Hi all,
I am facing a strange problem with my HTC.
Whenever I set up any notification (schedule any task) on my HTC, it disappears after a while.
To explain it properly: for example, I use mortscripts, where my scripts are set automatically to do something at certain times. If this is set and I look into the windows notification queue I see the scheduled task, but after a while it just simply disappears.
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you, tampiss

Hello!
I have a question: what is the 'average' number of notifications that my WM5 BlueAngel should have? I mean the Notifications queue available via FdcSoft TaskMgr... Cause my Notifications list keeps growing, causing my BA to slow down more and more every day:/
Today i have about 1200 notifications (duplicates removed), 6 days ago I had only ~700 notifications...
I have noticed, that their count increases with very SMS message I receive. Thats weird...
If you use LED flash in notification settings, be sure you've set it to e.g 1 hour, and not forever. Sorry my ROM is Russian and I can't guide you to the exact settings.
Yay, UR right. I use 'forever' notification :|
Is there any way to clean my Notifications queue? Except for Hard Reset, ofcourse... Yes, I know I can delete the Notifications one by one, but... which ones? :|
SKTools allows to select and delete multiple notifications. Those for turning LEDs off are in form
\\.\Notifications\NamedEvents\SCRIPT:0x0039F130
where the hex number may vary.
Thank you
I have deleted about 1150 notifications (using FdcSoft TaskMgr). Now I have a stunning number of 60(!) notifications.
BTW: why did nobody during WM design notice this bug??
i use outlook on my Tilt, when i get email i get a pop like notification every few minutes, and i can selet dismiss or view(or something like that) is there a way to stop that notification popup? also i have my phone light set to turn off after 2 minutes, which it goes into a standby type mode, basically the same thing as when you hit the power button on the right side once how it stand byes until u hit it again, when it does that i cant receive messages, my send/receive is set to check every 5 minutes, but with it in this standby type mode it wont send/receive to get new messages until i basically wake it up, is that a way to get it to send/receive while in this mode?
for your first question: SEARCH THE FORUM !!!!!!!
just kidding (but if you do you'll find your question answered a few times...):
You have to go to Settings/Personal/Sounds and Notification, select New e-mail from the combobox and uncheck the box saying "Display message on screen"
For your second question: I don't know but there are more people complaining about this
thanks man, appreciate it, i guess i had to make things more complicated than they really are lol
I have the same problem. My device (TyTn II) is set to download mails "as items arrive" from my Exchange server. I always have my device in standby-mode using VJDevicelock. The problem is that when it is in standby it doesn't receive e-mails. I then wake it up and suddenly get a barrage of mail.
Search the forums, there was a long thread on this that has sort of died out. Basically, the fix has been identified (we think) and is in the KaiserTweak app. Basically, get the latest xml version of KaiserTweak, and in there are options for "Notifications": change the values under notifications to somehting other than 1 second, and it should fix the problem. Also, it could be a result of having the HTC Home screen installed (if you're using a tilt and installed it as a separate app), the Task Manager seems to contribute to this issue as well (disable it by going to task manager and uncheck the "Enable Quick Menu on Today Screen", and a third possible cuplrit is having the "automatic set time zone and dater" option checked on in Settings > Phone. (This has not bothered mine, but others reported that it did.) But, if I were you I'd start with teh Kaisertweak settings and remove the HTC HOme screen (if installed), and go from there.
Hi
I'm using a norwegian version of this device, default HTC rom, not branded.
I've installed MioMap, AlenSoft QuickClock and HTC Dark Phone Pad International.
I use both the keylock and press the "off" button to turn off the display when I'm not using the phone.
Then after a month use without any trouble I find that from time to time the display turns on by it self. Not any scheduled callendar events, no new sms/mms, no new call (or missed call) and no sound alert, just the display turning itself on. But, if I go into the message center, it tells me that I've one new sms.
This is frustrating, since I often get sms messages related to work operations and rely on getting them in time. And it's frustrating to have to check manually all the time for new sms'es and not be able to rely on the phone telling me that I've got a new one.
So why don't the phone alert me with sound since it for sure have recieved a new sms? (yes the sound is on) And I guess it's the underlaying phone application that doesn't repport to the quickclock application (that displays the number of new sms'es on the home screen), so I don't see it even there, have to go all the way into the messaging application.
Another thing.
Active Sync is also running without my permission from time to time.
I don't sync my phone very often (just for file transfer) and I have unchecked all elements so that it should not need/try to sync them.
I also find that the device is slowing down after 5-6 days. The respons on my screen tapping is slow and not precise. I don't have many files and try to delete the inbox/sent elements/deleted elements every other day to keep it small. I do have a storage card, sandisk 6GB micro sdhc. (working great).
I suspect that this has to do with active sync running in the backgrund when not needed, so I go to start - settings - system - memory, select running programs and end the active sync from there. After a couple of minutes the device is up to speed again.
Any thoughts on this problems? Solutions?
Thank you for any feedback on this.
hey guys is there anyway to set it up where my phone only downloads my emails during set hours? i'm sick of waking up in the middle of the night cuz i just inherited $5 million dollars from my long lost ancestor in nigeria....
in active sync you can change the time interval and time to connect like 10 til 18.00 rest by hand
hey, sorry but i still dont get it. you mean i should go to activesync on my comp while my phone is connected? i did that and didnt see any settings for limiting the number of hours my phone downloads emails... please clairify. thanks
omar
One thing I do so it doesn't wake me up at night is disable the notifications. I just remember to check my mail during the day. I don't need to get buzz/alarm each time a mail comes in. If you want to try this do the following:
Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications
From the drop down tab select "Messaging: New e-mail message" and you can set the type of alarm you get. I just disable everything.
If you're using Active Sync to sync you mail (I don't, I use IMAP) you can setup a schedule as the previous post states. Just go to ActiveSync, click on Menu and there's an option for Schedule.
I understand your frustrations with this, but rather than limiting the download, why not limit the notifications. What I found and installed was PhoneWeaver from SBSH.net. This is an automatic profile changer. With this you can specify when and what notifications are set and how loud they are. For me, I have it set to be on vibrate while during work hours, silent at night, and full ring all the rest of the time. For me, this works great.
Hope this helps.
Good suggestions, thanks. I have a 17 year old son that goes out on the weekends and I want to have my phone ring if he needs me. But I have three email accounts and several google notifications that send me a lot of emails. Middle of the night waking up to an email blows.
When I travel, I have been just putting the Kaiser into flight mode, but that doesn't let my wife phone me during an emergency. So, disabling notification before I go to bed in those situations makes a lot of sense.
Hello all,
I've been using my E-mail option quite a bit on my Touch Pro lately, and I've noticed that the 5 minute update interval is a bit too long for my taste (despite the option to manually send/receive).
Therefore, I am curious as to whether or not it is possible to make a registry edit, install a program, or in any way add an option to make the update interval less than every 5 minutes (say for example, every 30 seconds)?
Also, whenever there is a new e-mail, there is a notification symbol which appears on the taskbar. Along with that, is it possible to create another registry edit / addition which would allow the phone to:
1) wake up upon new e-mail,
2) make a notification sound upon new e-mail (similar to new SMS), and
3) vibrate upon new e-mail?
FWIW, I'm using a Comcast E-mail account on the Pro.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Just go to Settings - Sounds & Notifications, the notifications tab and change the Event to Messaging: New Email Message. Have 'play sound' checked and choose the sound you want; check Display message on screen and check vibrate. i think that will do it.
As for checking for new emails, you can try this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438970
I have an exchange server so I don't know the answer otherwise. Setting it to less than 5 minutes may lead to a battery drain so if you do that use the scheduler to make it longer (or off) over night.
Thanks for showing me the settings adjustment. I suppose it isn't such a good idea to have the phone check for e-mails THAT often. As long as I can hear when a new e-mail has arrived, it should do the trick for me.
