Ok, I know the question about the battery not holding a charge has been asked like a million times, but with mine comes a weird error message that I cant find any literature on. Just to give a brief back story on what happened here it is.
I bought phone a year ago. Battery has worked awesome this whole time, it would charge fine and on a full charge it would last about 2-3 days with moderate use. Then just the other day it got down to 20% and my low batt warning went off like it always does and this is when I always begin charging. Well I thought I would just jump in the shower real quick then plug it in cuz in the past even at 20% my phone would last for like 8 hours. Well when i got out of the shower and went to plug the phone in, to my surprise it had turned off. I turned it back on and it got as far as the splash screen and then it instantly turned back off. So i then put the phone on the charger and the orange light came on and it was all good. A couple hours later the light turned green, i unplugged the phone and turned it on to see a battery at 100%. But now when I turned it on, i got this message "fatal error: configuration is invalid. (3)" and then the battery which was 100% only lasted like 20 minutes.
So now every time i turn on my phone i get that error message and the battery last only mere minutes. I'm pretty sure I just need to buy a new battery, but what do I do about the error message.
I appreciate any help that you could give me. Thank you in advance.
I am having a very similar problem, but without the error.
Also, I bought a new battery and still have the same problem.
I find the phone does last all day if i turn off data connection and bluetooth,
but if I open the web browser, the phone dies 5 minutes later.

i'm beginning to think that kaisers are trash! it will be 2 years in september for my kaiser and its already fallen apart. this thing is junk. my other wm devices lasted alot longer then this. i may try the new iphone in a few weeks.
Yes I too just bought a new battery and I charged it. Now the light doesn't turn green when its fully charged and yep, I still get the error message and it still dies after like 20 minutes.
I think i solved the problem somewhat. I still get the error message but the battery seems to be lasting as long as it normally did and now it turns green when fully charged instead of staying orange. I came across another forum entry from like 2006 for a completely different kind of phone but i thought i would give it a shot.
What you do is just do a soft reset on your phone while its plugged into the wall charger. Then leave it plugged in for literally like 5 hours even if the light turns green or it gets to 100%. I guess this does something to reset how your phone reads your battery or something, i dont know. All I know is that it fixed my issues.
Anyways, I hope this can help someone as it did me.

perform a hard reset and see if that solves your problem.

Dear All,
Until today, I believe many people still have battery charge problem (can not get greenlight when charge for many hours unless charge while turn system off).
TOday I just try to find what program or else cause this problem since I believe it's not hardware problem. and I just able to get a greenlight charged when I turn off "TouchFLO 3D" when charged!
I still not sure that "TouchFLO 3D" may cause problem. if anyone can confirm this please let me know too.
the step to test
got to setting --> today --> and turn of "TouchFLO 3D" (the system will return to original start menu)
Charge you phone as normally, and hope I'm right
Sorry if this post seem like to repeat again.. but I sure someone out there still want for solution to fix this problem or wait for HardSPL to flash another rom to fix this.
Good luck
same problem ! Sometimes it takes up to 14 hours to get the greenlight

What I stated on many other threads before:
- Problem is software-related
- Phone will charge normally and change LED from orange to green, when it is powered off.
Have you guys noticed that when charging via USB and a PC it is not a problem and the green light always comes. For me I only see the problem when connected to a wall charger...
R
Had this problem, but it seems to have resolved it self but then again ive installed and uninstalled so many programs could of been any one of them. I wouldnt worry too much windows 6.5 should be coming out soon, we'l all have to do a fresh install then.
If you switch-off the phone for charge, it is no problem.

Just like I stated.
It could be different when you charge it using a PC: it sees what way it is charged, as you can turn off charging from USB (Settings -> System -> Energy)..
I did not try this myself, I read about it once, but will try to see what the result is.
Thanks for your comment rakh1, will try.

Some phones don't have this strange behaviour, or do not have it directly, but some do get it after a (short) while..
The same charging problem
Hy folks,
I recently switched from the X1 to the Topaz (Diamond2) and I unfortunately have the same charging issue. I confirm that it must be some kind of software problem, because after soft-reseting the device the battery shows 100% and everything is fine. I installed G-Alarm and HD Tweak (to tweak the soft keys) -> maybe one of these programs causes this problem?
If someone knows how to fix this, please post asap.

You are correct, the phone is actually charged, althrough it says it isn't.
A soft-reset does 'fix' the problem.
I never installed the programs you mentioned, so that can't be the reason. Some other people thought it was related to battery-programs, but I doubt that.
An explaination to why some people do have this problem and some people don't, might be that they have different ROMs. Every country / phone has a different ROM. It could be driver or Windows-build related, so people with a different ROM may have a different build/drivers where the problem does not occur.
What I advice to do is wait for HSPL and upcoming ROMs, where cookers can combine the best builds and (latest?) drivers from the different ROMs HTC already has released.
I called HTC about this problem, they said a hard reset should fix the problem. But i guess the problem still exists if it's a problem in the ROM. Anyway my battery is almost empty after 2 days standby, instead of a week. So it wasn't fully charged or my battery is wasted due to this problem. When my phone is almost empty i will charge it for the first time after the hard reset, i'll keep you updated.

If you did not use your phone, 2 days is short, if you did use your phone, it is 'long'. A think a average user is able to use it for 1,5 to 2 days with one battery charge, whereas a 'heavy' user will need to charge his phone everyday. I seem to belong to the latest ones.

I have problem with battery lifetime, when i look under windows/setup/all/power/and the the information tab a complete charge have never been done ?? No info at all ? I use to charge it 10 hours every day, still the battery is emty at 19:00 with just speaking in the phone.
I noticed the problem during the first charging. Light didn't go green. Day after that, I must have had something running (now my "x" shuts off the application instead of minimizing...) because when I pressed the power on button to switch on the backlight (I never shut the phone completely down), the battery was totally empty.
I charged again (using a wall charger) and the phone was charged within an hour or so. The light DID went green, btw.
Later that day I got some beeps: your battery level is dangerously low.
So I charged again, this time on USB. I checked in settings - power and it showed that the phone was fully charged, but the light remained orange. However, about half an hour after that, the light went green.
So with me, charging DOES complete including a green light, but quite a while after the status bar in setting shows that the battery is fully charged. I use a lot of music and wifi on the phone, so I have to charge on a regular bases. Will keep the battery life posted.

As you haven't charged your phone a couple of times, it is hard to say if you have this problem. Charging using USB of a computer seems to work fine for some users, but I still did not test it myself. My phone charged fine the first time, from the wallet..
Another thing is, that the problem with the led nog changing is because the battery (charge) bar is stuck. So after charging it for like 8 hours, it is still at 51%.. (for example)..
If your charge bar does go to 100%, it will go to green, I guess...
I also have this problem, but only since i upgrade my rom to the latest version from the HTC site. i have a dutch ROM. I think the problem is in the new rom. with the old 1 i did not have this issue

No; in that case I explained it wrong. My charge bar goes to 100%, and stays there, with the light still orange. After some time (mostly about half an hour or so), the light will turn green. Meanwhile, so while the charge bar is at 100%, the text still says "busy charging" (translated from the Dutch I get).
Hey.
My diamond is acting strangely. For example, right know it's on but later on today or during the night it will turn off. And each morning I have to take out the battery out for about one minute and then press the power on button to get it to start up. If I don't take the battery out and I press the power on button it doesn't start-up. It just remains off. Sometimes it just gets stuck at the start-up O2 screen. But after a few tries it starts up normally and works.
I don't want to have to do this each morning, like I've been doing for the last several days.. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks.
no but I've been having a similar problem lately, my diamond seems to shut itself off almost right after WM boots. I figured it might be a battery problem because it seemed to happen only when it was running off the battery or right after I disconnected it from the charger so I threw on nuePowerCPL to check battery levels, disabled the backlight power management and it's been up and running for 2 hours straight ... when I exit neuPowerCPL I get a voice command error that says voice command had a problem starting, please re-run the application and the phone freezes. Totally stumped about the powering off though. It may have something to do with the power management, I think it seemed to happen most when the screen tried to shut itself off, not always during that time though. I've reflashed telus(my provider) shipped rom a few times and tried a few other roms, reformatted my internal storage, hard reset etc. Any help would be appreciated if it saves me a few bucks on a battery.
quick bump, i'm completely stumped here. I booted into the latest android image from MrPippy and the phone doesn't restart when it's unplugged like in winmo without the battery monitor running(in winmo my phone will stay on till the battery is completely dead, showing good power levels, only if the battery meter is running, otherwise it restarts within a few minutes regardless of if I'm touching it or not.).
So it works normally with Android?
Then it's seems to be a problem with Windows.. Have you tried flashing another ROM?
Goodluck.
Also, an update on my situation. Thankfully it appears to be working normally now. At least if during the night I turn it off and take out the battery. There hasn't been any unexpected shutdowns since I left the battery out on Sunday night. Tonight I'm going to leave it on, to see if leaving the battery out all night actually helps, or it just is suddenly working properly.

Yeah, I've tried running a few different stock roms, a few off ppcgeeks/everythingdiamond etc, re-flashed spl once or twice, repartitioned/formatted sd card. Even tried leaving my battery out overnight. Was thinking in a frost-free freezer, in a bag of rice tonight ...

And how would that help? lol

If there's any moisture in the battery the rice will pull it out and the cold helps arrange the polarity in the battery ... You never used to put dead batteries in the freezer to bring them back to life when you were a kid?
Well, no. I've never heard about that before. >.<

Didn't work anyways. I just read another thread about a hard reset solving this but ... I've gone as far as completely repartitioning my internal storage + hard resets and that hasn't solved it. When I throw a multimeter on my battery the voltage is constant/consistent. At a total loss. As far as I can tell it seems like a blackhole in my battery between 0%-60%. Seems that once the battery drains itself to 60%, it's more like it's drained itself to 0%. When I plug the phone back in after it shuts itself off the battery is always reading 0% NOW, when I started troubleshooting this crap a few weeks ago it would power off any time (battery @ 94%) and I would power it back on to see windows reporting the same battery levels as when it shut off.
Update: I did a format w/mtty a day and a half ago and my phone hasn't restarted since (besides me restarting it, read ahead). The phone seems to be working fine for the most part but it seems the battery readings are never updated, it will sit w/an icon that says 94% in the taskbar all day, when I restart it it jumps down to 59% and stays there all day until another restart. Seems the only time I'm getting a reading from the battery is on first boot. Doesn't restart now though!
Good.
Unfortunately for my Diamond had a blank black screen when I turned the screen on this morning. ): After a couple of soft resets and after flashing another ROM it began working correctly. I'll see if it does the same tomorrow. :/

Which ROM had the problems? Which is the new one?
I have the same problems with EnergyROM (September 20 release). My current guess is WM6.5 not working properly with power controller of Diamond.
Could be. :/ The first time it gave me problems I had a WM 6.5 rom, and this time I had also flashed a WM 6.5 rom.. When it re-began to give me problems it had BOGYSOFTS V6 ROM, I don't know about the first time. Now that you point it out all the times it has given me problems I had a WM 6.5 rom, but maybe it's just coincidence..
Now it's not even turning on. If I press the Power On button and leave in it's pocket after a while it becomes somewhat hot... I don't know what's up. :S
This randomly started happening to me about 4 months ago. I was out at some clubs and whenever i checked my phone it was off! I thought it was a battery issue at first as thats what it seemed like.
I think I just hit the phone on the soft part of my leg pretty hard a few times. I havn't had any issues since.
i have a at&t tilt that i had for about a year and is out of its warranty. recently, it started to turn off at the windows 6.1 screen or even get stuck at the at&t screen then turn off. yesterday i managed to get passed the at&t screen and get to windows mobile 6.1 screen and it said clearing storage and luckily it finished. last time it was clearing storage it made a beep beep beep then turned off. now after it finished i configured the screen and the battery read full but every 30 seconds it would go beep beep beep and turn off. so i read in this forum that maybe a rom update would work so i updated the rom using the original at&t rom from htc.com. the update completed successfully but now it has the same problem of getting stuck on the at&t screen and turn off at clearing storage. now i know there is no problem with the battery because it charges with a orange light but i guess the battery is not getting the energy. i tried 3 different charges even the computer . the light stays orange. i love this phone and i really need to know how to fix this.
I think you're overlooking the obvious, that your battery is almost dead, and giving a false reading in wm. Just because it's showing the orange light and "charging" doesn't mean it is holding it's charge.
If the rom used to be fine, and now, even after a hard reset it seems to be screwing up, then it's going to be a hardware issue. I'd put good odds on that battery though.
Ok thats exactly the problem
Today i took out the battery for 2 hours then put the phone it charge with out battery and put it in and closed the case. Then i left it to charge for about 1 hour and a half and the light turned yellowish greenish however it is still a false reading of 100% what does that mean
Update
After i took it out of charge i was happy to find that it worked with a green light of charge and 100%(i dint know this was a false reading) so i started to set up everything for 20 min and suddenly beep beep beep then turns off. Did i gain any progress? But i know that it sayed a way longer time on so how long shuld i leave it on charge for and accurate reading?
Batteries get old -- order a new battery and give that a try.
Battery is toast... buy a new one like i said. Buy from a shop and take it back if it doesn't solve the problem.
Thanks
Thanks to both ill buy a new battery and post back to tell u what happened
I can't get my phone to turn on (or at least stay on).
Last night I plugged it in before going to bed, just like I always do. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. This morning, however, when I woke up, it was off (even though I had left it on) and I couldn't get it to turn on at all. I didn't have time to examine it much before going off to school so I just took it with me (despite its apparent uselessness) and it never turned on. Now that I'm home I am able to look at it more in depth, but I can't seem to figure out what the problem is.
Every time I plug it in to charge, the LED light comes on for about 2 or 3 seconds, and then turns off again, I'm not sure if that means anything. On two occasions now, I've been able to turn the phone on to the point where it shows the HTC logo, but that lasts for a second or so and then it shuts off again. I haven't been able to get it past that point.
I haven't gone through any changes with the phone as of recently. I haven't even installed any new apps or anything for awhile now. I really don't know what would have triggered this sort of behavior. It just seemed to happen for no reason overnight.
Any ideas and/or help would be much appreciated.

You need another battery... And twrp or wcx recovery...
Flash either recovery... Except cwm... Then put your battery back in and voila... It charges...
So here is what happened,
My phone was maybe 14% plugged it in left it charging and went to sleep.
Woke up with the phone alarm and started reading whatsapp messages, at this point the phone was already at 100%.
Maybe 30-40 seconds later, with the cable still plugged in the phone turned off, with no message, it just "died".
Now it wont boot, fastboot, nothing.
Tried some solutions i found on the internet like holding vol down + power button for more than 2 minutes, and nothing.
I really need some help here guys, PLEASE.
The phone was running latest TITAN PRIME ROM 1.1 dev3
Everything will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

That is bad...
I have see it before, and noting works
The last time the guy try to turn on his phone every day, one day he get it...
But from the process that he describe the phone just stuck like yours and it need to completed empty the battery or unplugged it.
If open the phone is not a option, is need to let the phone that way and every day, he try this:
Plug in the charger, after 2 minutes he try turn it on by holding the power button for 2 min.
after that no success, he unplugged the charger and, try the next day.
And after 2 - 3 days he turn it on... i don't remember if was only 2 min maybe try 5 min on charger.
Is very slow and not completed a solution because it may not work, but for now is the only option after what you tell me.
don't leave the charger on for more then 5 min if is really need to empty your battery will take time and every charge minute will take longer.

Is there a link to that "solution"?
I think its really strange i mean everything i have read about this topic of people having the same issue, it happened when their battery hit the 0%, and most of them got a solution, but mine was fully charged.
Im scared right now, the phone has...1 month, 2 at the most.
