Hi All, I bought a 750v in Germany while on Hols recently but cant change the language to English. Will I need to flash it, If so how is it done and where can I get the firmware. Maybe I'm missing something simple but although I dont speak German I can get to the language settings and selsect English but I get an error message which I dont understand. Tried a hard reset but to no avail. Hope somone can help.. Thanks Stretcher.
Yup, you'll need to flash. I havn't bought mine yet but I first did a research. Since I live in Switzerland, it's hard to find anything in English. One on-line retailer told me the same thing - that though the ROM is in German, it could be switched to English. I then asked Palm and they confirmed that I should order an English version.

There's a Cingular ROM in the ftp but those who have flashed this ROM now complain that it has a lot of bugs. If you do flash with this ROM there's no way of flashing back your original.

I'm a Vodafone customer and my sim works fine it just the language of WM5 thats the problem. Can I just flash an English version of WM5 on its own ???

Unfortunately there's no other shipped rom available except the Cingular one.

I recently bought a Palm Treo 750v very cheap, but it is in French language.
As far as i know the only solution to change the language is to flash the ROM with a different language.
Does anyone of you know where i can download a German or English ROM ?

I bought the Palm from Vodafone and they assured me there was the italian language inside but no luck ... german only.
Any change to dump out the ROM from there?

My provider and even Palm told me to do a hard reset an a language selection prompt would appear .....
I don't think there is any Treo 750v with language selection,
this is not known on WM5 units, only on the multilingual Palm OS Treos.
I had the chance to flash it English, now it is usable for me.
Maybe there will be a German ROM soon ?
I found a way to change the language to English. But the phone app crashes then! It seems that all WM5 apps have a main language (english) and your local language as second language. However the phone app (by Palm?) must have one only language because it crashes all the time.
I seeked in the WM5 registry for MUI, my setting is 1040 (italian), so I tried to switch it to 1031 (german) and 1033 (english). And it worked, but the phone app would constantly crash and make the system slow.
There are also more keys that are specific to languages, like just search the registry for your language key (best results) or search for "lang".
Now the question is: can one just patch the phone app (cprog.exe i think) to support english or is it a different issue?

Calico, if it remained untouched, are you considering exchanging it with my original English-ROM version? Where are you based?

bought my topaz on ebay and went to htc site to upgrade to WM6.5 and for some reason it was not compatible with my serial number.
Anyway made some research on here and find out that my phone came from eastern europe. I have punched in the serial numberon the HTC polish site and it worked...but my question is the rom on the htc polish website is it WWE or polish one?
can anyone clarify whether it is in english or polish?
alternatively where could i d/l wwe version with aserial number HT95ELxxxxxx?
also I wanted to HARDSPL my device and would not let me so i thought i would stick to the original
Official 6.5 ist WWE East Europe version. It minds you can leave English language with this ROM, but you can put your native eastern Europe language,Polish i guess by you (by me Croatian)...In same, this ROM, after hard reset.

i am from South Africa and had a tytn 2 for more than 2 years. moved to Switzerland and got a new tytn 2 but it is in german and i don't understand a word. i downloaded almost all rom flashes but the phone reboot the moment the flash is not the german language contacted htc they say it is license restrictions can't change the language once it is loaded i don't believe that did a lot of reading and it seems some people managed to do it. now i am not that much of a techie so does someone please have a simple awnser for me.
I did a hardspl flash but phone is still in german and trying to flash with a english rom reboots the phone. flashing with a update german rom works fine.

I need to send my Legend back for repairs..but is there a website that contains the Dutch KPN RUU? I searched everywhere but I just can't find it...any help if possible would really put a huge smile on my face!
are your phone not WWE like most EU phones? I get to pick several languages (and i can change without wiping), incl but not limited to swedish, english, german and probably dutch.
Does that mean I can use any stock RUU?
I bought an SGS i9000 in HKG and found later on that the phone is a Korean version. The only languages that can be choosen are UK or US English and Chinese and Korean (the last 2 are a guess however...).
My question is now whether there is a way to "flash" the phone such as it can be set like an European phone with the corresp. choice of languages (English, French, German, Italian...). Although I have a fair English knowledge, I would like to be able to give my phone to the kids and they do not master English so well yet.
The phone has Android 2.2 and FROYO.ZSJPD / Build 2010.10
Any hint is very appreciated.
